Characters and Story (c) me

"Don't worry, I won't!" Tenke said pointlessly as the engine roared as Anki left. He walked into the apartment and saw it was completely dark. Ishtaar must have been asleep already or at least still out as well. He turned on a lamp next to the couch before flopping down on the cushions with a sigh.

Tenke opened his phone and dialed Trek's number and listened to in ring for a couple of minutes before he heard her voice. "Hey Tenke, What's going on?" The hare questioned sleepily.

"Hey, Trek. I guess it's a bit late. I didn't wake you, did I?"The folf flicked his ears flat against his head and his paw rubbed his neck.

He heard the female shift around and groan softly. "No, least not completely." She teased and groaned again as she stretched. "Something wrong?"

"It's nothing wrong, but it's nothing too big either... :east I don't think it is. I don't want to jump to conclusions, but you know I've been hanging out with Anki a lot lately. And tonight he asked me out to dinner on Monday for my birthday. It sounded like it was a normal invitations, I know, but when he was asking he was blushing. In all the time I've known him, I've never seen him blush. Not once." Tenke spoke rather quickly. "I'm probably looking too far into it, though." He sighed.

He heard Trek chuckle on the phone. "Sounds promising, bro. But I would be careful, like you said there might be some misinterpretation. I don't want you hurt, and I'm pretty sure I couldn't take Anki if that were the case." She adding a bit of a kidding tone with her serious one. "But honestly I'm hoping so to, He's a good guy. So like I said before, be careful. I'll keep you in my thoughts. Be safe, Okay?"

Tenke nodded and fumbled with his tail-tip "Yeah, I will, I'll let you know how things work out. Sleep good; Sorry again for waking you." He smiled as he got the usual farewell front Trek in kind before they hung up.

He sighed and looked up at the ceiling, still toying with his tail for a long while. A wide grin still on his muzzle as the thought about what Anki could be planning for the upcoming celebration. Sadly he knew that this weekend was probably going to be the longest in his life. He sat up and collected the PlayStation controller from the coffee table and flicked on the television while he was reaching out. He barely began playing a game when he heard the bolt lock click loudly and Ishtaar walked in and paused to look down at the smaller canine.

"Hey pup, you're up late. Did you just get in?" He asked and glanced at the clock as he hung his jacket on the rack.

"Yeah, too awake to sleep." He paused to tell the large wolf about Anki, but decided to bite his tongue. He didn't want to jinx his luck too much. "Did you want to join in? I'm not too far in." Tenke leaned over the arm of the couch to collect a second controller.

Ishtaar shook his head and smiled. "Would love to. But I've got a shift first thing tomorrow. So I'll have to catch you next time. " He chuckled and walked passed the folf and smiled. He paused near the door to look at Tenke sigh and set the controller back down and start playing again. "Night pup." He waved before going into his room and shut the door behind him. Tenke nodded and waved back. He played for a few moments before turning it off and heading to bed, a wide smile on his face as he cuddled against the mountain lion.

Tenke had taken the bus the next morning to his parent's house to spend the entire day hanging out with his mother and father. They ended the day with nice homemade dinner before Tenke had to go back home. The next day Tenke awoke to the sound of the doorbell going off. He grumbled and turned over, covering his head with a pillow in hopes that the wolf would answer that. Unfortunately that wasn't the case, After another couple of rings he got up and quickly threw on a pair of shorts before answering the door. As the door swung open he saw a young panther standing there, ears held low against his head. "H-Hey Tenke." The feline said and smiled.

Tenke blinked in the bright light. "Oh, hey, Keerka. Come on in." He stepped aside. "What's going on?" He smiled and shut the door once Keerka was inside.

"Not much, I'm just bored. My parents and brother are out to get him moved into the dorms. So I'm stuck at home alone." He sighed and took off his jacket and set it on the arm of the couch. Keerka was a very small black panther. Standing just under five feet, he was easily the shortest fifteen year old in the city. Even though Keerka wore large and baggy clothing, his slender form was still very obvious. On the feline's forehead, Tenke could see a slight turtle shell pattern that would disappear and reappear depending on how the light hit it. Looking closer at the feline, he saw that the boy was a bit shaken, his golden eyes never really making contact with his own.

"Everything okay, Kitten?"

Keerka lifted his head to watch Tenke sit on the couch and shrugged in response. "D-don't call me that, you know that I hate it." He mewed in a playful tone before joining Tenke on the couch. "I-I guess though. I got in trouble yesterday...and had a huge argument with Father. I was caught yesterday down at the Arcade..." He paused and fiddled with the hem of his huge shirt.

"What, playing on the 'mature' games again? That is kind of mean though, they need to ease up, you're growing up and--"

"Seilt caught me kissing a boy. Behind one of the machines." He cut the folf off and lowered his heads. "I-I don't know what I was thinking. I like this guy and he-he must like me too....but I don't know why I did it." The panther's words were quickly spoken with little thought. Tears were forming at the corners of his eyes. "I-I've tried so hard to be attracted to females and ignore all these feelings inside. But I just can't...I can't make any sense of them..." he murmured and leaned into the male.

Watching the young feline, he felt his heart jerk around slightly. Hooking an arm around Keerka he nodded and smiled. Sighing softly, "There's nothing wrong with you, no need to worry about any of that. Your parents just need to learn that you're different and that's what makes you, you. So don't worry about anything they say, and if you ever need someone to talk to I'll be right here, okay?" Tenke smiled and rubbed the panther's side, his ears down showing that he meant what he said.

Keerka wiped his cheeks of the tears and nodded while he sniffled cutely. "I know. Bu-But...." he blushed darker, it started showing through his fur as a pale pink against the black fur. "I've never told anyone this....b-but I don't think I was born the right gender. I see women and just wish I could be them." He whispered and lowered his head. "I hate having to hide and try and force myself to act like a male everyday just to please my parents. I'm so tired of it." He said, tears filling his eyes again as he continued on speaking whatever came to his mind first.

"You're going to be okay, Keerka. I'm sorry that you have to hide and stuff, but what you do with your private life is your own. Don't let them force you to follow their lives. They'll get it, sooner or later, but until then you just need to relax and be you." He paused and smiled. "If you ever need to get out and express yourself. Or if anything happens between you and your family, and you just need to be some where safe, you're always welcome here. I promise." He smiled and pressed a gentle kiss the the feline's silver headfur. "I'll always be here to support you." he smiled and cradled the little feline and rubbed his back.

Keerka nodded softly before lifting his head after a few long minutes. "C-can we talk about something else for a while? I don't want to be all mopy for your party." he half forced a chuckle and once again wiped the tears from his fur.

Tenke chuckled and grabbed the TV. "Sure, Whatever you'd like, Kitten. Ow!" he barked as Keerka gave him a playful stab with his claw, a smile returning to the feline's muzzle.

They played games until the party goers started showing up. Trek and Cresta were the first to show up, each hugging the folf tightly. "Welcome welcome." Tenke said and waved his tail, reaching down in the corner to produce a few more controllers. They all jumped into a game of Soulcalibur. They played long into evening before Tenke left the room to order them pizza. He stood in his room for a while as he got the order set and upon leaving he bumped into Ishtaar. "Yip!" O-Oh you're home. How was work?"

Giving a shrug the wolf smiled. "Not bad, I'm going to take a quick shower before I join you guys, Might be a long one, so go if you need to before I get in there." He smiled and walked into his room

Tenke nodded. "I'm good, Take your time. Pizza will be here in about forty minutes." he smiled and walked out to join the party again. They sense had switched over to another another game. Playing for a while, he barely noticed that Ishtaar had come into the room and sat down in the chair caddy-corner to him. He gave a smile at the wolf before handing him his controller. The folf barely got a break before having to stand up to get the pizzas. Hefting them in he was nearly trampled by Cresta and Keerka before he even got a chance to set the boxes down. He scurried out of the way as they grabbed stacks of pizza slices before sitting down in front of the couch and picking their game up. As they continued, Tenke found himself in the kitchen once again with Trek.

"So how's Anki been treating you? Good, I'd hope." She smiled at the taller folf "Or he's got some 'splaining to do." she teased and took a small bite of her cheese pizza "Though from what I've seen of him, but I've been thinking; maybe you're going too fast into a relationship, especially after ending one just recently?"

This gave Tenke a good pause for thought. After long moments of silence between them. Tenke simply nodded. "Yeah, I don't know. I might be, but I really would hate to miss out on an opportunity if it presents itself."

"Yeah, I can understand that. But don't rush into it, guns a-blazing. It might be good on the surface, but There's always deeper reaches that a lot of people hide, I've done my fair share before. But I'm just saying be careful, I don't want you regretting anything you put your heart into. He looks like a great guy, and a great friend. But how do you know that there's not something darker once he gets you alone somewhere you're unprotected?"

Tenke felt his heart skip several beats through Trek's words. "Yeah, I can see what you're saying. I'll be careful though. I won't let down my guard in case he tries anything." The folf smiled and flicked his tail. He then watched Trek go back to her back and pull out a spray canister, handing it to him.

"Here, in case that wolf gets any ideas. Don't let him force you to do anything you don't want." She smiled and winked before turning back to go join the party. Tenke chuckled and flipped the pepper spray around in his paw before setting it down on the top of the fridge before going back to join them for the remainder of their party.

As the night grow to an end, they all slowly took their leave, soon leaving Tenke, Ishtaar and Keerka for the night. "You don't mind if I stay here at all, do you?" The little feline asked as he poked his head through the curtains to see that his parent's car wasn't in their lot.

"Whatever you'd like." Was Ishtaar's response.

"Sure, you can. I'll grab some blankets for you." Tenke stood up and walked to his closet. He could hear the two conversing about the game, making him smile slightly. He turned around to jolt at the site of Ishtaar standing right behind him. "Gods, Ishtaar. Make some noise when you're sneaking up on someone." Tenke groaned and set the blankets on the bed. "Can I help you?" he asked and flicked his foxish tail.

"So, Anki huh?" He said suddenly. Seeing the confusion on his roommate's face. "Trek told me about you getting together with him. He's a lucky guy to have you though." He said solemnly.

"Th-thanks? Ishtaar, where's this coming from." Tenke stepped forward and gasped as he looked down into the wolf's paws. Laying over them was the red daemon mask that he'd danced with only a couple days ago. "I-Ishtaar...?" He stood there, his muzzle agape as he looked up into the male's eyes.

"That night that we danced. It was the best time of my life, I wanted to tell you but I didn't know how you felt about me after the song I fled; too scared to say anything."

Tenke was shocked to say the least. He couldn't believe that it was Ishtaar he had the pleasure to dance with. And now he was confessing his feelings about him. The folf felt his heart sink. "Y-You're never to scared....to say anything to me before."

"That was just fooling around and teasing you while you're..." He said and looked down, blushing badly under his fur. "But when it came time to-to say anything for real, I couldn't find my words..." Ishtaar lowered his ears and stepped back. "And now's too late I guess... But you two...you two have my blessing." Ishtaar smiled a bit forcibly and set the mask down on Tenke's pillow before walking to his own room and shutting the door with a click.

Tenke dropped himself onto the bed and sighed lightly, looking down at the mask. He blinked and saw a flash of the dance he'd have imagining Ishtaar's face without the mask on. Picking it up and tracing his finger around the edge he felt his gut writhe and twist. Honestly he couldn't believe it still was him. But he smiled lightly. Don't worry Ishtaar, I will never forget that night. It'll always hold a special place inside. He thought before kissing the mask's nose with a blush before setting it on the pillow again and picking the blankets up before going to the living room.

"Loose your way?" Keerka joked as he pulled off his jacket and stretched out on the couch.

"Something like that." He said and flapped the blankets over the young feline before settling himself by his feet and turned the PlayStation to YouTube to unwind before they went to bed.

Tenke woke up the next morning to find Keerka already playing on the PS, his long snake like tail twitching around from under the covers. "Hey Kitten, How're you?" He chuckled and turned his head to avoid the feline's dark stare. "Having fun?" He stepped in front of his and went into the kitchen to grab a bagel for breakfast. "You know, about the whole transgender thing. I've got some clothes you can have if you'd like. I don't fit them anymore, but I felt bad about throwing them out." he sat down as Keerka paused the game.

"I-I don't know. I guess? But I'd have to leave it all here..." He said lightly and lowered his ears. "If that's okay." he turned his head back to look at Tenke.

"Of course, You want to go try some on?"

"Maybe later, I have all afternoon." He chuckled and turned back to the game.

Tenke nodded. "Yeah, If you want you can stay again, but I'm going to be going out with Anki tonight, so You'd either have Ishtaar as company or might have the place to your self. I'm not sure if Ishtaar's going to be around much today. So you might just be in luck today." He said softly, ruffling the male's head. "Either way, I hope you have fun." He leaned back and nibbled on the bagel. The images of Ishtaar looking so heart stricken stuck with the folf. He heard his heart pounding in his ears as he remembered the look on the wolf's face. He sighed and shook his head violently to try and forget. No, It's nothing I haven't made my choice yet. It's not set in stone. He could still be the one? He thought softly and lowered his ears sighing again. The folf lifted head to watch Keerka play the game, hopefully the day would be short.

Much to Tenke's displeasure the day droned on like an English lecture. Watching and even joining in on Keerka's games helped out, but only the tiniest bit. But eventually he got a text from the timber wolf announcing that he was on his way. Quickly Tenke got up and rushed about his room, stripping his clothes off and changing into a pair of blue cargo pants and a loose bright green t-shirt. He went into the bathroom and ran a comb through his hair before tying it back again with a green scrunchy. He just barely finished straightening himself out before the roar of Anki's car. The young panther mewed and covered his ears. "J-Je-Geez, What is that?"

"Heh, that's my ride. I'll catch you later, okay? Oh and if you do want to try on any of those clothes I put them on my bed. Enjoy yourself kitten." he winked before walking out the door, his tail waving excitedly behind him. Tenke climbed into the passenger seat, getting a hey and a hug before they drove off to begin their night together.
