I woke up later that day, the memories of morning a blur in my mind. My head throbbed painfully as I opened my eyes to the bright sunlight that flooded through the window. There was no sound coming from the house, only from my year old Himalayan Persian who laid on my floor.

I sat up, rubbing my head slightly. I glanced at my clock, noticing that it read two in the afternoon. My stomach growled, telling me to get up. Sighing, I rolled out of bed, padding downstairs in my pajamas and socks.

I entered the kitchen, heading straight for the cabinet that held the cereal. I pulled out the box of my favorite cereal, setting it on the counter. I reached up to a different cabinet, grabbing a bowl and pouring my cereal into it. I returned the box to the cabinet and walked to the refrigerator, retrieving the milk from the door and pouring it into the bowl.

I walked into the living room with my bowl of cereal, sitting on the couch and flipping on the television. I set the remote down, eating my cereal. There was nothing of interest as I flipped through the channels. I settled with a medical-drama and finished eating my cereal.

After I had set my empty bowl in the sink, I spent a good 10 to 20 minutes wondering aimlessly around the house. I decided to go outside and take a walk in the woods.

I went upstairs to change out of my pajamas. I received a pair of dark blue flare jeans and a bright yellow vest from my closet. I also took a long sleeve, plain black shirt from my dresser.

I changed out of my pajamas, throwing them on my bed as I did so. I slid a pair of ankle socks on my feet and trotted downstairs to get my shoes.

Opening the back door, I put my normal walking shoes on, taking a step outside. It wasn't as cold as before, but there was still a slight nip in the air. I shivered gently, retreating back inside to retrieve my coat from the rack.

I went back outside, making sure the back door was securely shut. I walked across the yard, the frost-covered grass crunching underneath my feet. I took in the scent of the winter-ridden woods, closing my eyes. I stood there for a few minutes, lost in the beauty of nature. I opened my eyes, traveling farther into the dense trees.

I stayed on the path, keeping an eye out for any signs of danger. I could feel something watching me as I walked along. I kept looking over my shoulder, debating on whether I should turn around or not.

I noticed a flash of brown out of the corner of my eye. I twisted around to see what it was. The woods were still, disrupted by an occasional soft breeze. It was getting colder so I turned around to head back. I started back, hearing the soft padding of steps behind me. I glanced over my shoulder, speeding my pace up a little.

The sound of steps returned when I turned my head around. I didn't look behind me this time, but my pace increased to a jog. The sound was getting closer with each step. By the time I was out of the woods and on my back porch, I was running. I looked back after I had a foot inside the door.

There were the same ice blue eyes staring back at me.
