It was 5:00 in the morning and there was an irritating beeping sound close to his ears as he was waking up. The red and grey husky got up from bed, with a groan and threw his alarm clock to the wall, smashing it to bits and pieces. "God I hate Mondays," he said groggily as he went into his closet, getting out his sky blue robes, ready to start the day.

This is Hunter Bates. A novice magician who was enrolled into the School of Magical Arts ever since he was Twelve years old when his parents found out that he had magical abilities. His father, Aron was a mage as well-An advanced spellcaster and master summoner, who is married to his wife Sheila a non-mage.

Hunter was not sure why they ever got married in the first place but, as they always said, they fell in love with each other when they first met. Why would his father marry a non-mage? He had no answer to that question and left it out of his mind.

Hunter went down the stairs as fast as he could into the kitchen, almost knocking his dad to the floor. "Hey now, what's the rush son?" He asked turning to him with a smile on his face."Just trying to get to school early dad" He replied smiling back at his father.

As Hunter went to sit down at the table he noticed a small, glowing blue ball next to his breakfast. "Umm dad what is this?" he asked, picking up the ball, presenting it to Aron. His father turned and smiled as he saw it.

"That is a spirit orb. It will help you with your magic, and it looks like you are having trouble keeping it under control." he replied with a stern look on his face.

Why do I have to be reminded of that all the time? Hunter thought glumly, as he stared at the ball, eating his food with swift bites. Soon as his plate was clean he gave his dad a hug, told him goodbye, and walked to the school since he was only a few blocks away.

As he got to the school he saw the mages either conjuring up monsters, healing people, or using fire and ice magic. Hunter formed his hands, as if he were holding a ball, and a wisp of fire came to life in his hands and he was about to fling it at an unsuspecting badger when his Teacher Mr. Gates loomed up behind him.

He cleared his throat, startling Hunter, making the fireball disappear completely. "I hope you're not planning on hurting someone with that." He said with a stern look on his face.

"Of course not!" he replied with an innocent look on his face, lying.

Mr. Gates eyed him suspiciously and turned around, heading into the school building "come on, you don't want to be tardy again do you Bates?" he said in a warning tone. Hunter reluctantly followed him inside, suppressing a sigh. As they entered the classroom everyone was standing with their wands up, wrist the wand glowed with many colors and the sigils came one by one.

Mr. Gates did exactly as he said he would do and the whole class picked up after him. Everyone in the class got their sigils except for Hunter, who was struggling amongst the others. "Your stance is wrong." He said observing him as the husky did as he was instructed. "Don't be so lazy, straighten your back more and flick your wrist, and-"

"Alright, I got it! quit instructing me like I don't know what I'm doing" Hunter interrupted with anger in his tone. Mr. Gates looked appalled, as if no one has ever talked back at him like that in his life.

"Since you think you know everything Hunter, perhaps you could stay after class" he said icily, giving him an evil glare. Hunter gaped at him for a moment, then turned his head, fuming on the inside.

What a fucking asshole! He thought angrily, and sighed knowing it would do him no good to be mad right now. As everyone left the classroom, leaving Hunter by himself, he sat down and listened to his teacher go on about how magic is a big responsibility, how it can harm people in ill use, and that if he was not careful he would end up being banished.

"Thank you for your time Hunter, and I hope you'll remember what I say in the future. You can leave now" he said shooing him away with his hand and the husky left.

He was ready to head to his next class when a bear, a tiger, and a cougar stepped in front of him, blocking his path. Oh god not now.... "Please, I really don't want to cause you three any trouble today, so, can i pass?" He asked politely as possible, sneering a little. The three just looked at him with hostile glares, not even moving an inch, and then the leader (apparently the lion) spoke.

"Why should we let you pass? Think you're the king or something?" he said with a curl on his lip. "No, I'm not, but I really want to pass so I can get through my class so I can go home for the day but I can't unless you three dumbasses move" he replied angrily, and quickly realized he shouldn't have said all of that.

They were closing in on him, wands at the ready when he saw something white flash in front of him, knocking and sweeping the bullies away. Hunter turned around and saw a blue dragon standing there.

He looked down and saw Hunter on the floor and ran to him "You ok? Did they hurt you?" he asked when he stopped and held out his hand. Hunter grabbed it and the dragon pulled him up easily with surprising strength.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Nothing to worry about and thanks for saving me back there." he replied with a smile. To his astonishment, he realized that the dragon was muscularly built under his robes.

"No problem. I couldn't watch idly by while someone gets hurt, or ready to be hurt" he said and smiled at Hunter with somewhat of a loving and caring smile.

Hunter smiled back "Soooo are you going to tell me your name or am I going to have to guess it?" he asked swishing his tail. The dragon blushed a little, scratching his head a little "Oh, sorry. Names Cory, and nice to meet you uhh...who are you?" he asked with a puzzled look on his face.

"Hunter... and it's nice to meet you too Cory" Hunter replied shaking his hand with a smile. "Umm Cory, sorry for me asking but...how in the world did you become muscularly built like that? Honestly no one here is like you." he said, looking at the dragon, who looked confused for a minute but cracked a smile.

"I was born like this actually" he replied somberly "And it is strange for someone like me to be this big while everyone else is, well, slender looking...like you." Hunter looked up at Cory with a glare, then suddenly laughed "I know I'm slender and small but I can be very menacing when it comes to my magic" he said, waving his wand in the air.

"Oh is that so?" Cory asked grinning

"Oh yes, so you better watch out" he replied poking Cory on the side of his left arm with his wand.

The dragon snorted "Oh yes, I'm terrified" he made a face which looked like he was scared.

"Hey! I can use my magic to it's full potential and no one's a match for it" Hunter said getting angry.

Why did no one believe him when he said he can use his magic well? "I know you can, but I am in Mr. Gates and I've seen that you can't even use the sigils he wanted everyone to make. You just have to relax, O tempered one" Cory said smiling.

"Well...you're right" He admitted reluctantly and sighed.

"I can teach you right now, if you want that is" The dragon offered politely. Hunter snapped his attention at the mention of practicing "sure" he answered grinning and got to his position as his teacher had done.

"You're standing like water is pushing down on you" Cory remarked "And you look tense as hell" he sighed and came over to Hunter standing close behind him.

"Ummm what are you doing?" he asked blushing scarlet red

"Helping you" he replied and put his arms under Hunter's positioning them in place.

"I-umm-glad you're doing this but you're really close" he stammered blushing more.

Cory ignored his stammering and put his legs to his, spreading them, and put his lips close to his left ear "Relax. I'm not going to do anything to you, just helping you out." he pulled away from Hunter completely and said "now... try and make the sigil" he instructed.

Hunter, in the correct stance flicked his wrist, the wand glowed, and the sigil came finally. He was filled with so much joy that he turned around, running straight to Cory and kissed him.

Cory stared at Hunter after they parted from the unexpected kiss, blushing red like a cherry. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to do that! I mean-" he was interrupted as Cory kissed him back with passion.

"Don't worry about it Hunter, I actually had a crush on you ever since but you never noticed." he replied smiling, with his arms wrapped around Hunter's waist.

Hunter was speechless for a few moments, and then he was grinning "I had no idea." he giggled "Umm we should really head to our next class otherwise we'll get in trouble." he said, feeling a little nervous.

"All right, let's go. We have this one together too." Cory said cheerfully, looking down at Hunter, who was smiling and giggling like a little school girl. The both of them headed off to their next class holding hands, smiling at each other.
