#4 of Chikorita/Mudkip

Mudkip kicked his leg, he whimpered, he was reliving the moment when it all happened.

The river was rising, he was stranded on the bank, he called for his mother, his father.

They were coming, but the rain was fierce, lightning pierced the sky. His mother reached the bank, his father helped push him to the shore.

But then the wave came, tall, tumbling down the river.

Mudkip cried out, but it was too late, the water hit, sweeping his mom and dad down the river.

Mudkip wailed, but it was too late, his mom and dad were gone, never to be seen again.

"Chi-ka?"

Mudkip opened his eyes. Chikorita looked at him in concern, are you okay?

"Kip, Mud-kip, mud," Just a bad dream.

Chikorita looked at him another minute, full of sympathy, "Chi-ka?" Do you mind if I lay here?

Mudkip looked around at the dimly lit room, he could hear the gentle droplets of rain on the window to the Pokémon center. The thought of his parents and the fact that he might never see them again made him sad inside.

"Kip," Mudkip replied with a nod, more than a bit of sadness in his voice.

So Chikorita curled up next to Mudkip, and Mudkip took in the warmth of her company. Mudkip looked out the window at the rain falling down outside; he didn't know if he'd see his parents again, but he was glad to now have a friend.

And as the rain lulled them to sleep, there the two lay, Chikorita and Mudkip, curled up together.
