My Awkward "Hopes and Dreams" Lyrics

, ,

#2 of Poetry

Ugh. I don't know what I'm doing. I can't write poetry. I know lyrics don't need to follow the lead instrument, but even still, I can't seem to manifest any iota of quality here. And as it becomes harder and harder, it just winds down until it doesn't work anymore. Yuck. Why did I publish this? Did I do anything right?

Hopes and dreams,

Born from stars.

Light that carries

From afar.

Do days gone by

Bring a tear

Or a glimmer

To your eye?

I know you'd

Hold my hand

If you'd only

Understand

Life was never ours to take

It's a gift from outer space

Darkened void devoid of instance

Burst with merciful existence.

Was there a place that you called home?

Were there ones that you called family?

Would you ever let yourself tell

Someone new, "We'll live happily"?

Prove it to me, as I face you

Pacifist or blood-soaked warrior

Sinful petals in captivity

You can never breach my barrier.

These old bones, young and new again,

Revitalized upon these thoughts

What's the one thing you desire?

Making friends or cutting throats?

Raise your spear up like a hero,

Justice must have vigilance.

In the act of self-defence,

Can you maintain your innocence?

Did you stop and look around you

At the world surrounding, and,

Was there something you created

With the toils of your hands?

Even with the same decisions,

Dressed up in the trendiest glamour,

Never will there be another

Quite like your own nuanced rainbow.

Even with the blood you might've spilled,

Or with the friends that you once made,

Will we hope for divine forgiveness

A hollow dream I must dissuade.

Where will you stand if we do not respond?

Where will we be when comes the great beyond?

You can't outrun your memories

Without knowing fact from fantasy.

In this land

We call home

Is there a chance

To atone?
