And so the rest of Lent continued for Buttercup, rest and happy times with Bambii on Sundays, and lots of unceasing agony and screaming the other six days of the week.

It was everything Buttercup had always dreamed, but it was also even more so. She had expected pain - lots and lots of pain - and she enjoyed being in that unbearable state. But she did not expect to find something more, that beyond all the pain, there was a state of almost transcendence; that by experiencing that which was beyond all imagining, she'd somehow passed beyond the realm of the known and into a state beyond all words.

In all the pain, it almost seemed as if she had achieved some sort of weird kind of meditative state.

Who says Lenting can't work, Buttercup thought.

And she decided to call it girly transcendence, it sounded enough like girly weirdness to emphasize how embarrassing it all was, but yet it also sounded just so, to emphasize that there was something special about being a girl.

It was closing in on Good Friday, and Buttercup realized with a sense of sadness, that her time of the year was almost up. As the last hour of Lent began, Bambii and his mother came into the room. Cardinal, who'd been paying attention to Buttercup's labor looked up, her eyes lighting with understanding at the expression on Bambii's mother's face.

"Is it almost time?" Cardinal asked.

Bambii's mother nodded.

"We've almost finished sorting all the eggs, and we only have a few more before it's time for... The One." Bambii confirmed.

Buttercup looked from one to the other, confused. "Time for what?"

Everyone just looked at one another in the room, even Edwina had a sly smirk on her face. Apparently, Buttercup was the only one who hadn't got the memo to whatever this was.

"Nothing to worry about dear," said Bambii's mother, "It's just best to escort you into a bigger room for the... next part, alright?"

Oh they definitely were hiding something.

Bambii looked away awkwardly. Normally, he would've felt it only fair to tell her, but given how she was receiving the whole experience, he figured she would probably be up for the surprise.

And she was, she had no idea what they were expecting her to go through, but it couldn't be good, and the idea that she had no idea what she would be experiencing in the next few minutes was almost too exciting to bear.

Bambii pressed a button, and there was a whirring of machinery. Buttercup's Egg Laying Nest was lifted into the air on a platform, and a series of lifts and pullies whisked the bed out the door and out into the rest of the factory. From up here, Buttercup could get a good view of the factory, all the going ons and sortings, and continue laying uninterrupted at the same time. Finally, the contraption ended, discarding Mrs. Easter Bunny and her bed out into the center of the factory where she had noticed the giant Egg on the first night here, but tonight, it was empty.

Bambii hopped up to meet her there, followed by the others.

Buttercup had just finished laying another excruciating egg, and suddenly, her innards fell silent, she felt nothing more at all.

"Is that all?" Asked Buttercup in slight disappointment.

"Not exactly," said Bambii.

Buttercup looked at the faces of her friends surrounding her, all with knowing expressions.

"What do you mean?" Asked Buttercup suspiciously.

Bambii was silent for a moment, then finally he spoke, "Remember how when you got here last year we had this giant Easter Egg?"

"Yeah..." Buttercup looked around the room, the implications of what he was saying beginning to dawn on her, "It's not here anymore."

"Well, you see," Easter Bunny continued awkwardly, "You know how on Christmas Eve many people set up their tree? Often times, many families get a new tree every year... Well, we do the same thing. On Good Friday, after all the other eggs are ready... Well..."

Buttercup had but a moment to process that.

And then Buttercup's paw flew to her mouth as she felt it coming on. Nothing she had endured before could have prepared her for this.

Screaming erupted from her mouth. Her brain was turning inside out trying to comprehend what she was experiencing. In fact, the experience of her whole body turning inside out would have been easier for her mind to comprehend than what she was experiencing now.

She was beyond all emotions, the screams erupting from her throat could have been from incomprehensible agony, or overwhelming masochistic ecstasy, or perhaps there was no difference. It didn't matter, everything she had said or thought or hoped, everything she had ever experienced to now, she had never felt more than she was feeling in this moment. She had never felt more a girl than she did at this moment.

It was too much, no living thing could process, much less a six-inch rabbit, the experience of laying a five story egg. The thought of a blister popping was just too much for a squeamish girl like Buttercup, and this was NOTHING like a blister. There was no way a rabbit could squeam enough to make this right.

And then it happened, she literally felt like she exploded; she felt as if every single muscle had suddenly been ripped and shredded apart from the rest of her body. Buttercup, the one and only Mrs. Easter Bunny was gone, all that existed was the searing agony of a billion muscles that had been brutally severed from one another. Granted, a billion muscles that were still definitely girly nonetheless. Because only girliness could even begin to comprehend what this felt like.

And the screaming continued, it couldn't be stopped, it didn't want to stop, it didn't want to stop ever, for if it did, it would never have fully expressed what the poor severed Mrs. Easter Bunny was feeling right now.

But eventually, it had to end; the New Mrs. Easter Bunny could no longer keep screaming. The pain eventually had to fade; eventually it had to be over. And so the pain began to fade; the mist of oblivion faded, the world around her slowly faded back into to existence, carrying with it all its stillness and calm.

Buttercup felt her body, all in one piece, but shaking and trembling all over. She'd had quite a night.

And behind her it stood, the Grand finale to all her laying this year, a giant five story egg. One that had to be hoisted with strong chains and pulleys to its place in the center of the Great Easter Bunny Hall by all the combined strength of Easter Bunny's staff, one that one small rabbit had somehow managed to get out of herself through no logic that could be considered anything butt the magic of Easter.

And just then, the clock struck midnight.

And it was over, after six weeks of intense labor, she was done, the entirety of the Easter Celebration had been laid. All by one girly rabbit called Buttercup.

"That was epic," she gasped.

And with that, she fainted.

Buttercup woke up maybe a few hours later, super sore. She was still in her Egg Laying bed in the Center of the factory, and Bambii was standing beside her waiting to greet her.

"How are you feeling?" Bambii asked.

"Oh how I regret my life so much right now," Buttercup moaned. Then amusement relit in her eyes. "I can't wait to try it again next year."

Buttercup stood up and tried to take a step, then winced, her muscles still sore from the night's experience. "Oof!" She oofed.

"Okay, take it easy," Bambii said, stepping next to her to support her, "You've just literally been through a lot. Look at what you've just laid."

Buttercup looked at the giant five story egg towering in the center of the factory, full of color and life, simply radiating from it some good old Easter Spirit.

"Wow!" Buttercup exclaimed, "I LAID that?" A shiver went through her as she remembered the experience. "OOOOOF! You know, maybe I can wait until next year to lay again, you know. That is totally enough for one year" She paused, thinking a sec. "Though be sure, when my time comes again... oh I can't WAIT!" She laughed, "Oh, being Mrs. Easter Bunny is so hilarious, isn't it? Every year!? For the rest of my LIFE?! Oh to think that this is my future, I pity any girl who has to live life as me. Oh wait, that's me! And I LOVE IT! But yeah, I can wait until next year. Ouch."

Bambii looked at her lovingly, "I know it's crazy being an Easter Bunny and all, but I'm glad that I have you as my partner."

Buttercup fluttered her eyes, "I'm so glad I have you too." Then she clinched her legs and winced; She winced at her own body simply existing after all of that. "You literally have no idea how much I ache right now. But why it's funny, because you're not a girl."

Bambii looked at her, "If you want to deliver eggs with me this Sunday - I mean, not that kind of Egg delivery, you've already kind of covered that, you know what I mean..." Bambii paused, "There's still time for you to rest up. Take the day off, and we can head out at Midnight."

Buttercup looked at Bambii, "I would LOVE to join you." She said excitedly. Even with all her laying, she couldn't miss out on traveling the world with her hubby, just like last year.

Buttercup turned to walk away to get some rest in her real bed, and as she did so, she looked back at Easter Bunny. "You know, laying really is intense. It's all that I hoped for, but I do think I'm ready for my year off." But then she paused "But In the meantime, let's have some babies. Lots and lots of babies. I think that'd be the perfect way to bridge the gap, not too big, but just enough to keep it fresh, don't you think?"

"Just rest," Bambii said, "I'll join you after I finish shutting everything down for the night."

Buttercup nodded, knowing that her idea was totally going to happen. Then with that Buttercup went to bed. Bambii watched her go, and couldn't hide his chuckle. What a girl he had as his missus.

That Sunday night, Buttercup and Bambii were traveling the entire world delivering eggs. When they reached Buttercup's old hometown, they stopped.

"Here we are," said Buttercup, "My old farm. Let's stop over and see my old friends."

Bambii shrugged, and he followed Buttercup toward the old chicken coop.

When Buttercup got inside, the chickens noticed her, surprise rippled through them.

"Buttercup?"

"Buttercup?"

"What are you doing here?"

"Edwina said you were away on permanent Holiday."

Buttercup looked at them all, "Hi everyone, it's been awhile. I was just stopping in to say hi." Buttercup smiled, "You see, I'm married now. I'd like you all to meet my husband, The Easter Bunny!"

At that, Easter Bunny stepped in, and all the hens cried out in shock.

"Easter Bunny!"

"Easter Bunny!"

"You married Eater Bunny!?"

And just like the last time, a whole bunch of eggs were laid at once. In seconds lots of agonized moaning emanated from the coop.

"Oh the pain," moaned an unfortunate hen who'd never laid before.

Buttercup couldn't help but snicker, "I know, right?"

Edwina scowled at Buttercup.

"Listen," announced Buttercup, "I just wanted to say thank you for all of the memories, and I do apologize for all the humor I laughed at you at, but you got to admit, it is funny. But I just want to say, as the New Mrs. Easter Bunny, I too am an egg layer, and it is AWESOME! So I just want to wish you lots of luck, and hopefully lots of pain on your future eggs, and hopefully you enjoy them too."

Well that did not set the right tone for the chickens, "Get out of here!"

"Get going!"

"Enjoy your own pain!"

Buttercup shrugged, "Welp, goodbye for now all."

And with that, her and Bambii left the coop.

But once the were gone, a slight smile cracked Edwina's face.

Buttercup. That rabbit would never change.

As they headed away from the coop and into the night, Buttercup looked behind her. So many memories had been built here, but as sad as she was to say goodbye, she had never felt more content. Now she had a new home, a home with Easter Bunny.

And as she hopped side by side with her husband, she couldn't help but smile. This was the life she had chosen to live, the life of Mrs. Easter Bunny, the life where bunnys can lay eggs and enjoy it. She couldn't speak for all the Mrs.' in the world, egg laying wasn't for the faint of heart (though, she too was faint of heart, so that was kind of funny) - but at least for her, she was living the Best Life Ever!

So she followed Easter Bunny into the night with one purpose - the purpose of all Easter Bunnies - to deliver eggs to the people of the world, in both senses of the word.
