#4 of Sisu Lays and Egg
Sisu paced back and forth restlessly across the room. Raya had had to attend a Peace Meeting with the Leaders and Representatives of the other lands, so knowing Sisu was about to deliver again, she'd left Tuk Tuk with her to watch over her. Tuk Tuk watched awkwardly as Sisu paced, not really sure as to what to do if Sisu started laying before Raya finished the meeting, but determined to be here in case Sisu needed him somehow.
"Eggs. Why do I keep having them?" Sisu pondered to herself, "Don't you know they hurt? Hurts like something awful. You'd think that somebody wants to see me in that sort of pain, I don't know. But they hurt, I don't want another..."
Suddenly, Sisu felt a sharp contraction inside her, she gave out a moan. It wasn't time quite yet, but these kicks, or whatever they were, were getting awfully close together.
Sisu caught her breath. Maybe laying wasn't actually that bad as she remembered, maybe she'd exaggerated the experience in her mind after it was over. It wasn't like she actually remembered it being bad last time, she only remembered thinking it had been bad. The memory of the actual experience wasn't as fresh on her mind anymore, so it couldn't have been that Earthshattering or anything could it?
Yes, that was it, laying would be a breeze, she just needed to convince herself...
Sisu found her attention turning toward her bloated belly. Turning her head to look at it, she patted the area where her egg was growing inside her affectionately. This was her egg, she would love it, she'd nurture it, she'd be there for it...
Suddenly, she stopped herself. What was she thinking? She wasn't going to have a baby in there, it was just an empty egg, just like last one (which she still hadn't decided what to do with either) it was just her motherly instincts speaking.
But still, she was sure it would be a beautiful, precious egg regaurd...
Sisu shook her head. Stop thinking, this is going to be horrible and worthless, this is pain we're talking about.
But like always, her positive personality wouldn't let her talk sense to herself.
It was okay, it'd all be okay. Eggs were wonderful, a wonderful minimal pain experience that her mind tended to exaggerate.
She thought of the meeting Raya was attending. It would be so much more effective if she was there, having helped save Kumandra and all. But she couldn't imagine the looks if she started laying right there in the middle of the meeting.
Fortunately, her brothers and sisters would be attending, that would make up for their absence.
And she wouldn't have to have them sharing egg tips with her the whole time...
Meanwhile, down in the palace below, Raya was preparing for the Meeting. Jagan sat on her right side preparing to give her any support she needed, while the rest of Sisu's siblings mingled with the Representatives from the other lands.
"Is Sisu not going to be here?" Namaari whispered into Raya's ear.
"Sisu is..." Raya hesitated, "A little preoccupied today."
Namaari looked at Raya quizzically, but didn't press the mater as Raya called the meeting into order.
Back in the Dragon Temple, Sisu had finally convinced herself everything would be alright...
And then the contractions hit. The egg was coming.
Okay, nope, nope, Sisu pain wasn't exaggerated the first time. In fact- Sisu gave out a cry- this was worse than she remembered!
Tuk Tuk looked around frantically, realizing Sisu was officially in labor. What was he to do? He'd never been trained for this.
Curling into his ball, he frantically rolled around the room, spinning circles around Sisu. Coming to a stop, he looked out of his shell. Okay, that wasn't helping.
Sisu's teeth were gritted, her face was contorted in agony. She could hold this in, it wasn't that bad, she was just making herself think this was bad-
More contractions came and her teeth gritted and her face contorted even more. Nope, it was bad. More contractions and more gritting and contorting, if that was even possible. Yep, it was bad, really, really bad.
And then more contractions, but this time Sisu was helpless; if she contorted and gritted anymore, she'd probably pull a muscle.
But then the contractions grew stronger.
Sisu couldn't hold it in anymore, "Ughhhhhh!" she cried out. "Why does this hurt so much?" More contractions pounded her body. Her body was too small for this egg! Pain, penetrating pain! Pain where she didn't even want to say, but once again, it was too much! "Ugh! My lady dragon pa- UGHHHHH!" Sisu let out a guttural cry as the pain hit new intensities.
Tuk Tuk continued to look around, suddenly feeling awkward and worthless. Was he here to do nothing? Taking a quick glance behind him, he plopped himself into a sitting position. Okay, he'd just watch until he was called for. Tuk Tuk looked awkwardly off to the side, to embarrassed to watch Sisu directly. That looks like it must hurt, Sisu hunched over like that, back legs raised high, sides spasming so intensely.
And it did. Sisu moaned out pure agony, the contractions just kept coming, one after another, their unending intensity causing her to lose her grip on reality. Her anguished moans rang out all the way to the Peace Meeting below.
"What's that sound?" One of the representatives from Tail asked, standing up, prepared for conflict.
"Oh, that sounds like Sisu," Pranee announced, "She must be having another egg. You humans from Tail should understand, you know, because you come from... Oh never mind."
The members of the meeting looked at eachother awkwardly, not sure how to respond to this. Finally, a member from Spine spoke up.
"You just said... that the legendary Sisudatu... is having an egg?"
Another cry erupted from the temple. "OH MY V-!"
"So yeah!" Raya declared quickly, hoping to cut off the sound of Sisu's cry before it'd finished, "What does it matter what Sisu is doing right now? If you'll just take a look at my proposal here..."
Awkwardly, her audience turned their attention away from Sisu's cries and back to Raya. She sighed. That was a close save.
Unfortunately, Tuk Tuk was there for the whole thing. Tuk Tuk wanted to curl into his ball and roll away. That was more about Sisu than he'd ever wanted to hear (Okay, he kind of did want to hear- okay, he really needed to locate the closest exit and book it out of there as fast as he could).
But Tuk Tuk was a faithful companion, so he just sat there awkwardly, hoping Sisu didn't need any real help. It was awkward enough as it was just sitting here, actually getting close to the whole thing...
Sisu let out another agonizing moan, squirming with the incomprehensible pressure.
"Are you sure... Sisu is going to be okay?" Tong asked at the Meeting, "Sounds like she's dying up there."
"Oh, it's okay," Amba announced, "Dragons do it all the time."
Another guttural cry.
"Must be a pretty big one by the sound of it," Pranee answered, proud for her sister.
"Uh yeah, lets get back to our meeting," Raya said, trying to salvage any last bits she could of Sisu's dignity.
"Yes," Namaari replied, "Kumandra's not going to maintain its peace by itself."
Raya looked at Namaari gratefully. Sisu would be appreciative for the aid.
But Tong was still a little concerned, as a ruthless warrior, he knew those cries weren't natural. However dragons laid eggs, he figured he'd rather dwell on his plans on how to do away with his victims, way less brutal by the sound of it. He pitied poor unfortunate Sisu.
And, unfortunately for poor unfortunate Sisu, Pranee's prediction was right, this egg was huge, like twice the diameter of the last one, so however bad the first one hurt, this hurt much worse. At least for Tuk Tuk, he only had to watch, not actually experience it himself, because it looked like it hurt. Tuk Tuk shielded his eyes. Okay, he couldn't watch either. Hopefully it'd be over soon.
Sisu moaned and groaned with everything she had, but it didn't ease the pain. As the egg came closer and closer to being finished, the pain only increased. It was too much. It was too big.
Hold it back! Hold back the pain!
But then the next contraction hit and it was too late.
"UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Sisu cried as her body gave one final agonizing involuntary push, and the pain completely enveloped her entire sanity.
And then, a moment later, it was done.
Sisu's head cleared. Ugh, that had hurt. Sore, Sisu let out one last agonized moan, taking in her awkward egg-laying position. "Oh, my booty's raised again, that's embarrassing. At least it's not a bad one. Though nothing compared to those bugs in Tail."
Ugh, so sore. That was going to take a while to feel normal again.
She looked over at Tuk Tuk, he was peaking at her cautiously through partially shielded eyes. She sighed. Hey, he'd tried. A+ for effort.
And then Sisu turned to look at her egg. Her jaw dropped. That thing had just come out of her? It was enormous. How?
Sisu moaned, remembering what she'd just been through. That had had to hurt.
With that, she fainted.
But before she blacked out entirely, she got one last look at what she'd just laid.
It was a beautiful egg, wasn't it?
