Chikorita Catches a Mudkip: Chapter 2
#2 of Chikorita/Mudkip
Jennifer awoke to find her Chikorita staring at her, her eyes beaming with pride.
Okay, Jennifer thought to herself, that is not at all suspicious. "What did you do?" She asked out loud.
Chikorita just hopped from foot to foot making happy Chikorita noises.
"Okay," Jennifer replied, guessing she'd figure out later. Unless a Jigglypuff had drawn all over her face, it probably wasn't anything to worry about.
Tying her hair back into a ponytail, she stood up and bent over to pick up her Pokéball belt...
And stopped.
Something felt different.
Jennifer felt along the line of Pokéballs. There._Slowly, she took the Pokéball from the belt and looked at it. _That's weird, I'm sure I had nothing in this one. But feeling it's weight in her palms, she could just tell a Pokémon was inside.
Jennifer looked at Chikorita, hopping around in circle, so proud and excited, and she began to put the pieces together.
"Pokémon, come out!"
Jennifer threw the Pokéball, pressing the button on the center at release. In a swirl of energy, a Mudkip appeared.
Mudkip was hunched in on himself, still sore from his earlier encounter. He looked at Jennifer nervously.
And then he saw Chikorita, watching him with big starstruck eyes. He coward. This was the Chikorita who had discovered his weak spot. This was the Chikorita that had found out everything embarrassing about him and used it to bring him down.
It was so humiliating!
Not able to stand just looking at him any longer, Chikorita leapt up, squealing with excitement. Mudkip startled with a yelp.
The next second, Chikorita had sidled up next to him and was rubbing his side affectionately. Mudkip stood there awkwardly, not quite sure if this was what he had expected.
Chikorita looked up at Jennifer. "Chika," she announced confidently.
It was then that Mudkip understood. Chikorita had never used those moves against him to show dominance over him, she had used those moves so she could capture him for her trainer so they could be together for always.
Still, this was the Chikorita who used against him tactics no cute girl Chikorita like her should probably know about cute boy Mudkips, and she used it to bring him down in style.
Why him?
So Mudkip scooched away from her just a little. Chikorita looked at him concerned. Doesn't he like me?
Jennifer, who'd been watching all this silently, finally spoke up. "Okay, I see that you're both now acquainted well. Now let's say we continue our journey?"
Mudkip looked at Chikorita. He didn't know what to make of her yet. But there was one thing he did know. She knew his top-secret embarrassing weakness. She didn't seem to have dominance issues, but she had used it before, and she'd obviously thought it was very funny.
Plus, somehow her finding his top-secret embarrassing weakness funny made her all the more cute.
Mudkip's face went red. He couldn't take it anymore. Dashing toward the Pokéball, he headbutted it, triggering the button with his body-weight. The Pokéball opened, and with swirling energy, he disappeared inside.
"Wow," said Jennifer, "looks like you two got off on the wrong foot." She could only imagine what had transpired between them. "Don't worry, I'm sure you'll begin to get along in no time. Now let's go."
Chikorita sighed, missing her new boyfriend already. As Jennifer began to walk away, Chikorita followed dejectedly.
