#2 of What are Candus

What are Candus?

Candus (short for Candusians) are a canine-like races that aren't really considered to be canine. They are considered the elven-like species of Chemerians (or the anthropomorphics.) This document will contain information about the Candus and origins.

Appearance

The reason behind why these creatures are often confused with Canine Chemerians is because of their appearance. Some Candusians has short or long muzzles, some have small or big ears, some have skinny tails or fluffy tails, and so on. However to tell apart a candus from a Canine Chemerian is the distinct features.

One of the major appearances of a Candus is its fur color. Its fur color usually tells of its heritage. Candusians only have 3 different kinds of breeds: Arctic, Tropic and Mutt.

Arctic Candus: The name says it all, this breed is common among cold climates. Their fur colors tend to be close to white (eggshell white, a very light blue light, a very light mint color.) or just plain white.

Tropic Candus: Also known as Mountain Candus, they usually live around Rocky Mountains or islands that have a tropical climate. Though fur color varies on these types, those who live in the mountains (or deserts among the mainland) tend to have a very light red fur color (much like a sunburn) or a Deep brown fur color. Those who live on an island tend to have a light tan or a variation of human-like skin color (except black) for fur color.

Mutt Candus: Also known as the Common Candus. These Candus are usually found on the mainland and not so isolated from the other races. These Candusians tend to have darker colored fur colors (black, grey, ect.) or have an extra fur color other than their marking color and their primary fur color.

Eye color used to be unique to each breed but nowadays they vary due to mix breeding along the ages that have passed.

Markings are another distinguishable trait of Candus. The most common are on the bridge of the nose (or "snout") and on the tail. A common nose marking is usually a cross that rides up the bridge of the nose and intersects at the center of the bridge. There are some that have a outline of the cross or even and x mark on the nose instead. Tail patterns can vary from triangles to stripes, x marks to mixed markings. Though to really tell form which region of the world a candus came from, the nose marking tells it all, the tail markings usually show which bloodline they are apart of.

Those with a solid x marking are from the West side of the world, and those with an empty X marking on their nose, they are a bit closer to the border between East and West (if you were to divide the world in half), much like those who have an empty cross on their nose. Anyone on the Far East side of the world have a solid cross on their nose. There have been candus that have a solid or empty single diagonal or horizontal marking, though they are quite a rare sighting in certain regions of the world.

Candus have an unusual ear shape, which is extra "skin" that droops down in a triangle over their ears to the side (not at the tip, on the side near the tip); the size of this extra "skin" varies in sizes. No Canine Chemerian can repeat this look naturally. These pieces of "skin" do not disrupt a Candusian's hearing in any way.
