Roo was ecstatically happy, all his friends from the 100 Acre Wood had gathered to help the young kangaroo celebrate his birthday. He'd been buried in presents, his favourite foods and a cake his mother, Kanga, had worked on for days. As the sun began to set, friends departed wishing him all the best, Roo leaned back in the chair, his tail between his legs.

"Did you enjoy your birthday?" Kanga asked, as she licked her child's forehead gently, making Roo blush and squirm.

"Mother, I'm not a baby in your pouch anymore, I'm grown up now!"

"A mother can still care for her Joey," Kanga gently chastised him. "Its my right - as - your mother."

Rolling his eyes, Roo endured Kanga's licks and nuzzles, before at last he pulled away and stood, using his small black paws to rub at his ears and head.

"I did not wish to give you your present here little one," Kanga spoke, as she clutched her paws before her, leaning down to whisper at him. "It is - an extra special present!"

"Is it?" Roo whispered back, his ears slicing back and eyes widening.

"Oh yes - " Kanga admitted, as she nodded eagerly. "It is a present that was given to me, when I was your age, one day, you will do the same for your Joey!"

"Ick, girls are gross!" Joey huffed, as he turned away and crossed his paws over his chest.

Kanga laughed softly, before she turned him around and held him gently by his shoulders, before she looked down at him, stern, but caring. Joey hated that look, it was Kanga's 'lecture' look - one she often gave the sometimes errant young Buck.

"I'm a Doe - " Kanga began.

"You're my mother, that's different!" Roo answered, with the sweet, naive innocence of youth.

Kanga frowned, thinking for a moment, before she just laughed and pulled Joey tight against her pouch, giving him a tight cuddle.

"Mother, someone might be watching, you're making a scene!"

"Leave me this one little pleasure Roo," Kanga chuckled, before she leaned down and licked him between the ears. "Soon, you'll be all grown up, not my sweet, innocent little Joey anymore!"

With a soft snort through his nostrils, Joey pushed against Kanga's pouch with his paws and looked up at her.

"I still say girls are gross..."

When Roo went inside, Kanga cleaned up. Once she was satisfied, she placed all the dirty dishes on the counter. Taking her apron off, Kanga hung it on the hook. Dusting her paws off, she walked up the ramp to the upper floor, where she found Roo laying on his bed, his legs folded unnaturally at right angles, his nose buried in a comic book.

"Time for a bath young Roo!" Kanga smiled.

"Do I have too?" Roo complained, as he put down the comic book and looked at Kanga pleadingly.

"Yes, you do!" Kanga nodded, then stepped closer, before she gripped Roo by the shirt collar and pulled his shirt up over his head.

"I can undress myself Mother," Roo blushed, his inner ears turning red. "I'm not a -"

"So you said," Kanga chuckled, before she slid his pants down and left him dressed simply in his briefs. "My, such a lovely young buck, you'll make some doe very happy one day!"

Roo blushed again, turning around and hanging his head, before he scuffed one foot against the rug on which he stood.

"Glad to see I can still make my dear joey blush," Kanga chuckled quietly, before she stripped him of his briefs and turned him around, holding him at paws length, whilst she looked him up and down.

Roo stoically ignored Kanga, as she looked from the tip of his ears, down to his feet and tail, then back again.

"Such a lovely young buck - " Kanga sighed wistfully, before she cuddled him close again, feeling the warmth and motherly bond between doe and joey. "Now, time for your bath young Roo!"

Putting him back on his foot paws, kanga watched as Roo made his way to the bath, where he filled the deep bath with hot water, then tested it and added some cold water, until it was hot, but not scalding. Roo slipped into the water, it instantly soaking through his fine fur, before he watched as Kanga slipped out of her simple clothes and slid in behind him. Placing her long legs either side of his shorter ones, Kanga picked up the cloth and soap, then began scrubbing Roo's neck and back.

Whilst this may have seemed disturbing to others, Kanga and Roo had always bathed together, to them, it was natural and innocent. After Kanga had used her short, blunt claws to scrub Roo's back, she pushed him forwards, then gripped him by the shoulders and dunked him twice in the water. Roo knew the routine, pinching his nostrils closed, his eyes screwed tightly shut.

"Much better!" Kanga nodded, then watched as Roo stood up and turned around, before awkwardly placing his legs over his mother's thighs and cuddling in close, their wet fur melding and squishing together. Kanga smiled, then reached around behind Roo's back and pulled him tighter, holding him in a firm grip. as Kanga and Roo enjoyed the hot water, feeling it relax tired, aching muscles.

"This is lovely!" Roo mumbled, his head resting against Kanga's chest.

"It is - " Kanga began, then she blinked, before feeling something flicker against her cloaca.

Roo gasped, then his eyes went wide and his muzzle fell open, before he squealed and leapt from the bath and fled down the hall. Kanga quickly climbed out of the bath and followed the wet paw prints to Roo's bedroom.

Here, he lay curled up on the bed, his paws wrapped tight around his legs, his head buried in his thighs as he cried in shame and guilt.

"Go away!" Roo squealed.

"Roo, my love," Kanga whispered, as she stepped over to his bed, then sat beside him, placing a gentle paw on his shoulder. "It's alright, there's nothing to be afraid of little one, I promise!"

"I, didn't mean it - it just..."

"Happens, I know - " Kanga nodded. "It's normal Roo! There is nothing to be afraid or ashamed of love! All young buck's go through this, and truly, its not that it's a bad thing, it just means, you're truly growing up! You are maturing, becoming an adult. Oh, don't cry little one, its alright, I promise!"

Roo slowly uncurled, and turned his tear streaked muzzle to look at Kanga.

"You promise? You...swear it?"

Kanga placed a paw over her chest, where her heart was. "I swear it, Kanga's honour!"

"It...its really - " Roo stammered.

"Come on, come dry off my dear, sweet Roo, I'll explain everything to you, I promise. No secrets between us, remember?"

"No...secrets - " Roo sniffled, then followed Kanga back to the bathroom.
