? ?I was walking around the other day, thinking about stuff and I came up with this. I wrote it down, but I doubt I'll ever have much use for it. I still think it's cute enough to post. FYI, an AA12 is a military-grade, recoil-less, automatic, 12 gauge shotgun; a really nasty piece of ordnance! Micro-missiles that can be fired from a shotgun are fictional, however, (AFAIK.) But you can get grenades for them!

"These micro-missiles fire from an AA12 on full automatic with no modifications," said the engineer. "They have a range of 1,000 metres, more if aimed ballistically. They're available with incendiary and explosive warheads or kinetic effect with a 1,200 metre range."

"I like it!" the general replied. "We need them to be heat seeking, independent targeting with fire-and-forget."

For a moment, the engineer stared at the general with his mouth open.

"I want recruits in basic training to be able to fire a mess of these fuckers at a target and hit it every time," the general added.

"General, sir, are you mistaking me for Scotty from Star Trek or Q from James Bond?"

"You can have the first ten thousand prototype rounds ready in a month."

"No," the engineer replied, "you're mistaking me for Q from Star Trek!"

"Is there a problem?"

"General, sir. with about ten years more research, I should be able to give you micro-missiles that can be loaded into a standard shotgun one at a time. They'll have infrared targeting, fire-and-forget and have enough

power to tap you on the shoulder at ten metres. But they might be reusable," the engineer added.
