#4 of Transcender: Gray

Hello, I'm back again. ^_^ This series is proving remarkably easy to write, and I'm enjoying doing it too. Hopefully, I'll clear more Dran and Mist soon, but until then... As usual, not proof read or happy with it, but still... Enjoy.

Gray and Valkyrie â€" Chapter Four â€" Earth Type

Sakura: Mine is the guardian who shall eclipse a god.

Yuri slumped in her chair, curling up in the deep cushioned seat and looking around blearily. This section of the medical ward had been cleared especially for those who survived the mountain search, yet now only one bed was occupied. To her side, Gray lay beneath white sheets, eyes closed, pale faced and peaceful as death. He had been unconscious for three days since his attempt to restore Valkyrie, and had shown no signs of awakening since. Dark bags beneath her eyes revealed what she had been doing over that time, a loud snore breaking her stupor as Erin's noisy sleep from a nearby sofa shattered the atmosphere. The hybrid's wyvern was curled on the ground to the beds other side, standing watch over her guardian along with them. Yuri had finally had the opportunity to communicate with her, Erin having cast a lake technique to enable them to talk. Their discussions however, had often led to arguments. The creature finally answered her question, "I have no intention of handing Gray over to you."

Her eyelids drooped slightly, "I won't give up, Valkyrie..."

The door creaked open, footsteps echoing as a young man strode over. He glanced to the side, slapping Erin with a clipboard. The man started, "I'm awake!" Their former teacher blinked a few times before looking up to the medical officer, his brown scarf betraying him for what he was, "What were the results, Earth Type?"

"So impolite..." He sighed, "It's been three days, Master Erin, please start calling me by my name." He adjusted his scarf, "Even with the data that you gave me, it's been difficult to find out much about the effects of the technique he used... It's too versatile to predict exactly what he did with the Tong Ren... With Soul."

"He tried to heal his wyvern, but I can only guess exactly how." Erin pulled himself into a sitting position, "You know what he is... If he did as I predicted, I don't know for sure if he'll ever wake up."

Girl and wyvern turned to stare at him, suddenly quite aware, "He will wake up." They said in unison.

"All right, all right..." His gaze settled on Gray, "But..." A shadow crossed his face, "Even if he survives, I don't think he'll be able to live a normal life after this."

Yuri looked to him, "He was hardly normal to begin with... Neither was I, and neither was Valkyrie." She had to agree though, his scent had changed. Gray was no longer what he once was.

"Gray is indeed a special case..." Erin pulled himself to his feet, "Being what he is and all... It was more of a soul reincarnate than a soul heal." He began to pace, "He's no longer a human playing at being a dragon. He's now a dragon playing at being a human."

The earth user, Cain, cleared his throat, "I've seen fire types abuse that ability in the past. I'm not going to pretend to know the mechanics of it, but from experience alone, it's unlikely that he will make it... There's nothing that I can do, even with my healing techniques."

"Gray won't die." Yuri said firmly.

"Yeah..." A weak voice joined the conversation, "Dying... Would suck..."

Everyone turned to look at the man, watching him blink wearily. "Gray!" Yuri hugged him, Valkyrie drawing up to nuzzle his cheek. He winced in pain, the pair pulling back almost immediately.

He looked to either side, only his eyes moving, "Damn... You two look terrible." He closed his eyes for a moment, failing to see Erin dragging the doctor from the room.

"You're not looking so hot yourself." Valkyrie snorted, "What you did was reckless. You came within a hair of dying â€" you shouldn't take such a risk for my sake!" She deflated, "Thank you, Gray."

"You can beat me up... When I'm capable of moving." He groaned.

"We've been so worried." Yuri was crying, "I can't believe that Karin..." She dwindled into silence.

"What happened?" The man seemed to become more aware.

"All of the wyverns and guardians that disappeared in those mountains... They're all alive, they're all together, and they're all preparing for war." Yuri fell back into her seat, "The remnants are working alongside them... God knows how they're controlling them."

"Karin too?"

"Myself and San only caught a glimpse of the force..." She sighed, "Karin and Rose were among them."

"I won't lose next time." Valkyrie set her jaw, "I definitely will not lose."

"We've known them since we were pacted..." He sighed, "I still can't believe that she's..." His jaw set, "I need to get out of here. I need to train." His body shuddered before flopping back, the man truly incapable of moving.

Yuri dropped a book at his bedside, "There are other ways to get stronger than spending days throwing balls of fire into a rock."

-

Gray sighed, letting the book fall and leaning back against the propped pillows. Yuri was meeting with Erin and he was left alone with his partner. He held his hand outwards, palm facing upwards, "Li..." A small flame erupted, not the concentrated sphere of fire that he was used to, but a flickering light no more potent than one from a cigarette lighter. He closed his eyes and grit his teeth. Almost a week had passed and the hybrid had yet to recover the majority of his strength. It was a challenge to even perform even a simple Li technique, never mind the advanced skills detailed in Yuri's book. He glanced to the side, noting Valkyrie to be staring boredly into the distance. "You know, you don't have to feel obliged to sit there while I'm recovering , Val..." He realised something, glancing around looking for a window, "How did you get inside anyway? That doorway is far too small."

"I'm staying because I want to." She said simply, "And I didn't get in by normal means... That earth user teleported me." His wyvern pulled herself to her feet, stretching her wings.

"They can do that?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Fire has some unique capabilities too... You just never bothered to delve into them." She shook her head at his small flame, "Manipulating fire as staple, transferring damage... Change is the most subtle thing you've mastered."

He looked down at the book, an illustration of a man catching an arrow with his hands drawing his gaze, "How come you can use the Tong Ren technique without any problem, and it put me in a coma for three days?"

"I am a genius that practiced for two years to figure out a way to expend part of my soul to heal my guardian." She smiled, inwardly knowing that it wasn't so simple. Valkyrie had to be in perfect condition and struggled even now, otherwise they wouldn't be here, "And you, are an idiot that tried on a whim to copy me and used up so much of his soul that he almost became a remnant himself."

"Hey, there's no need to put it like that!" He scowled.

"Everyone has their weak points." She chuckled, "You're just better at blowing things up than finer artes."

"Ok, let's make a bet then."

"Oh?" The wyvern caught his eyes, "I'm interested."

Gray turned the book to face her, showing the picture, "Foresight: The Li ability to predict the future and react accordingly." He said proudly, "In four days, I'll have this technique down perfectly!" The man flipped the page and began to read.

"I don't think it's even possible to learn a skill like that in just a few-" His partner paused for a moment, "Deal. What do I get when I win?" She backpedalled, "I mean, if I win?"

"Whatever you want since I'm not going to lose. Just remember that it goes both ways."

"I'll have to think about what I'm after." She already had a good idea, grinning, "No going back on your word, okay?"

*****

Cain yawned, tossing the coin yet again, plucking the piece of silver from the air and covering it with his hand. His patient had been sitting in bed practicing diligently, yet he was now nearing the four day limit. Normally, the man wouldn't spend so much time covering just one person, yet Gray was self destructive enough to keep trying to leave the room even with his diminished strength. He felt more like a guard than a doctor, eventually agreeing to help him win his bet simply to keep an eye on him. He drew the metal close, "Call it."

Gray closed his eyes for a few moments, "Heads."

He revealed it, "Tails." Valkyrie burst out laughing.

"Grrrr...." Gray clenched his fists in frustration, "I get it right almost nine out of ten times though... Still not good enough."

"Eighty-seven percent, Gray." She mimicked his voice, "In four days, I'll have this technique down perfectly!" The wyvern continued to chuckle.

"I've still got two hours left!" He nodded to Cain, calling and failing once more. "God damn!"

"Easy, Gray..." The earth user toyed with his scarf, "Reaching an accuracy level like that in just a few days is an impressive feat itself. Not many fire types are even capable of grasping this." The man was beginning to believe that he had perhaps underestimated the hybrid, his determination alone seeming to outweigh the difficulty. Of course, though his draconic nature was most probably his greatest asset â€" the group had yet to tell him what he had become.

Time passed slowly, each call a frustrating and monotonous task, yet he finally seemed to be getting the trick... Or simply getting luckier. Over the two hours, an accuracy of ninety percent was finally attained. Valkyrie finally spoke, "All right... It's time. You ready?"

"I am." His outward confidence masked an inner *Oh shit...*

"All right then..." The azure wyvern straightened up, "When will we next see Yuri?"

"Okay..." Cain leaned forward, watching the young Fire Type work. He closed his eyes, "Here goes, all or nothing... " His brow furrowed, "Ji... Ji!"

Slowly, an image began to form from the darkness. A sky dyed crimson from the sunset, great shadows cast from the clouds above over the grass covered hill. He shook his head wearily, as if walking in a particularly lucid dream. A small group of people were moving away, leaving only himself and Erin, each clad in black, their wyverns waiting a short distance away. Valkyrie was slumped, her head covered with her wings, Sakura placing her own over the younger wyvern. He stared into his back, watching himself fall to his knees and weep, his old teacher placing a hand on his shoulder, tears staining his own face. Just beyond them, etched into a stone and lit by the dying rays of the sun, he read aloud, "Here lies... Guardian, Yuri and Wyvern, San... Rest in peace." A series of images burned themselves into his mind, flashing past like a video streaming in rewind. He roared with pain.

Gray blinked, and opened his eyes. The medical ward swimming into view, Cain shaking his shoulders as Valkyrie stared with concern. He coughed, "Urgh... What happened?"

The doctor breathed a sigh of relief, "Your eyes went all white, and you started screaming... You looked like you were having a seizure."

His wyvern knocked the man aside, placing her head to his chest and listening for a few moments. She rose and shook her head, "What did you see?"

The guardian's eyes widened, "OH SHIT!"

-

Yuri yawned, picking up the last of her art supplies and tossing them into her chest. The wolf looked up and sighed, having her own room rather than sharing a dormitory with eleven other people had allowed her to at last drop her human form while relaxing. She crawled up onto the twin bed, rolling over onto the side Gray normally occupied and slumping against the sheets. "I miss that idiot... It's no fun without him to mess with." The wolf lay back, watching the sunset from their window, pondering going to visit her friend. A dull rumble met her ears, dismissed instantly as some idiot using his Gua indoors. She glanced to the side, the stone on Gray's bedside cabinet glowing a dull pink as that sound came again.

She reached for it as the door burst open, Gray staggering forward on wobbly legs, panting heavily and partially transformed already, "Yuri..."

"Gray?" She withdrew her hand, "What are you doing out of the-"

"Get down!" He dove, body shimmering as he did so, the remainder of pale skin fading into silver grey scales, the smaller hybrid form Yuri had helped him to generate landing atop her, wings spreading as the world became a mass of crumbling rock.

"Tai!" Gray flinched and closed his eyes, setting his limbs and readying himself for the pain as the crescendo of falling stone filled his ears. Yet no pain of impact came, even when the last deafening blows of part of the fortress collapsing dwindled into silence. He hesitated, and opened his eyes, staring down into the browns of the wolf and blinking with surprise. Her palm was raised, a glow visible from beneath her scarf, sign that she was using her power. A sphere of transparent white surrounded them, the ancient stones just visible through the light users barrier. The wolf had managed to pull off her skill just in time, Grays urgency giving her the moment of reaction that she needed.

"Gray..." The shield lessened in size slightly, "It's so heavy..." Sweat was pearling on the fur of her brow. The dragon had reacted on instinct alone, yet it was clear he would be unable to hold back the fate of his premonition. Even with his strength, against that much rock, he would be crushed along with her. "How did you know?"

"I sort of mastered that foresight move." He smiled, resolved to waste the last few moments of his life on idle banter as her barrier continued to wane.

"You're either a hero... Or an idiot." She laughed ironicly.

"I'll go with idiot." He chuckled, the pair lit by the veil of white luminescence, the dragon licked her cheek, "I knew what was coming... But I couldn't not come." He closed his eyes.

"Valkyrie is going to be pissed." She gasped, "That you chose to die with me."

"Val..." He could feel the barrier pressing something against his wing, the dragon reaching back to retrieve the stone. He stared into it in memory, Valkyrie's Dracite glowing crimson in his grasp. "Please forgive me." He muttered.

"Gray... There's something you should know... You see, I-" The barrier jittered, decreasing in size once again, nudging his arm and forcing him to drop the stone as rocks ground together beyond the boundary. It landed on the wolf's chest, colour switching to a pure white.

The reaction was instantaneous, beginning as a dull rumble but gaining in volume as the barrier began to grow. Wolf and dragon looked from the orb, to each other and back again as it continued to shine, their space now enhanced to half of the size of the original room. Yuri stared down in confusion, "I don't feel any pressure at all... What the hell is this thing?"

Gray pulled himself up, looking up and around before sitting cross legged before her, "I don't know... Val said she found it out hunting. She gave it to me for a Christmas ages ago." He laughed nervously, "I never knew it was capable of something like this though!"

She sighed in relief, holding the sphere close and reverting to her human form, "I don't want them finding me like this when they look for us... Do you seriously want to be rescued looking like a dragon? Change back."

"I can't." He glanced away.

"Why not? You switch forms all the time. Are you still too weak?"

"No, it's not that. I'm just..." He lowered his head, "I wasn't wearing anything when I transformed so... I'm all naked."

"And?" She rolled her eyes, "Just use the sheet."

"You mean the sheet that you're using? You're not wearing anything either!"

"I just feel more natural like that in my real form!" She grit her teeth, "Stop sniggering!"

The hybrid pulled the battered piece of fabric over them, "You do know how this is going to look, right?"

"I do." She smiled, drawing closer, "I don't care though."

Gray grinned, "We probably have some time before the others manage to dig us out..." The stones above shifted a little, "Or not... Yeah, she's going to be especially pissed." He punched the ground in jest as a familiar azure wing came into view, claws tearing frantically at the earth, a white, a pink and an unfamiliar brown surrounding Valkyrie as the wyverns dug. She fixated Gray with a disapproving look, breaking it only to shoot Yuri dirty glances. A notably exhausted Cain and Erin hid their eyes.

*****

Valkyrie lounged against the wall of the cave entrance, staring out over the lake. Her guardian had at last managed to recover his strength, aided in part by the sphere of Dracite she had recovered all of that time ago, he now flew over the water in his dragon form. The commander himself had taken custody of the fragment. She sighed, eyes fixated on the brown wolf clinging to the large creature's back, white scarf blowing in the wind as his speed exceeded that of a wyvern. At least he looked happy, "This is Gray's third brush with death in a month... He's too reckless."

"He looks so care free though..." The voice came from her side, San lying back just beyond the cave mouth, sun making her pure white scales shine. She followed the other wyverns gaze, noting her expression as she looked at Yuri, "You don't like my guardian, do you?"

Valkyrie turned to face the white wyvern, "It's not like that..." She sighed, "I... She likes Gray the same way that I do." Her eyes closed, "My heart twists whenever he spends time with her instead of me."

San pulled herself up, moving over and curling beside the azure, "You've told him how you feel, right?" She cocked her head slightly, "What did he say?"

"When I told him, I was lying in those mountains, dying..." She looked down, "He said that he doesn't remember much of what happened after Karin stabbed him. That technique screwed him up pretty bad." She grit her teeth, murmuring, "Probably for the best."

"Why are you so interested in him anyway?" San watched the pair skim the lakes surface, Gray leaving a trail of flame that forced the water to steam in his wake, "I mean... He's a dragon, but he's still your guardian."

"I..." Valkyrie blushed slightly, "I don't know how to explain it... When I'm with Gray, I just feel like I belong. He keeps throwing himself into danger to protect me like it's his nature and..." She smiled, "The sex is pretty great too."

San rolled her eyes, "I don't see what the attraction is with males." She sighed, "I mean... A big thing like that," She made a strange gesture, "And... Well, it's got to hurt, right?"

The other wyvern raised an eyebrow, "Yeah, I'd guess it's different from a wyvern, but I've only ever been with him so I wouldn't know... Wait, what do you mean, males?"

"I prefer the fairer sex." The red was clear against those white cheeks, "Men are just so... Intimidating."

"You had a bad experience or something?"

San looked down, "No experience at all." She slumped against the wall, "Since I look like this, everyone just assumed I was mating with everyone else..." The wyvern chuckled, "Truth is, the runt was getting more action than me â€" I'm scared of men and the women aren't interested to begin with."

"Everyone needs a bit of cock every now and again." Valkyrie said bluntly.

San closed her eyes, letting her body go limp against the stone as she slid down it, "It's just so frustrating, Valkyrie..." A pained expression crossed her face, "Nobody can understand." She opened her eyes as the wyvern sensed a nearby presence, the azure blocking the sun as she leaned over, "Valkyrie...?"

The wyvern surveyed her for a few moments before withdrawing, taking the larger females tail in her jaws and dragging her on her back further into the cave. San failed to struggle, freezing up as the azure pinned her in the darkness, "You're right, San, I don't understand..." She chuckled as the white looked away, "I don't understand why nobody is interested in somebody like you." She moved in a swift motion, engaging her friend in a fiery kiss, San's inherent surprise fading as she melted into the action. "I know the hell of having no relief from heat better than almost anyone."

"Valkyrie..."

"Call me Val." Her tongue wrestled with that of the other wyvern, "I'll make you scream it before long." She broke their kiss, tongue trailing seductively down the whites body, Valkyrie sitting on her friends tail, pinning it as she spread her legs with her wings. She stared into the source of that powerful scent of need, glancing up, seeing a clear blush through the dark as San whimpered with lust. She licked her lips, hypnotised by that aroma, parting the pink of the other wyverns opening with a single drag of the tongue.

"Val!" Her body shuddered, San crying out right away from that single motion, mind clouded as the wet appendage cleaved her need once again. The azure smiled, memories of Gray eating her out night after night giving her confidence in her actions as she mirrored his technique. She wriggled the tip into the other female, pushing forward, deeper, tasting her friends juices as her muzzle brushed against her clit. It was all it took, the white screaming as she squirted cum into Valkyrie's waiting maw, pent up lust and sexual frustration forcing her to orgasm hard and ejaculate like a male.

The azure wyvern failed to cease her motions, more so, she increased them, learning all of the right places to hit with her tongue, taking pride in the beautiful creature writhing in the wake of her actions. Her face was drenched in San's fluids, the wyvern drawing up her tail, curling it around as she drew back enough to let it slowly penetrate the other female. She grinned, slowly pumping it in and out, the white crying out with every thrust. Valkyrie licked along her tail, feeling San cum once again, drawing closer as she travelled along its length, her tongue at last connecting with her friend's clit. The reaction was electric, the azure pounding her with her tail while she licked at the other females opening.

San barely noticed the time pass, not counting her orgasms as she bucked her hips into the other wyverns face. Valkyrie had shifted her tail, having spent some time now pummelling her tail hole with the slickened thing as her lips were sealed around her cunt. She screamed, becoming somewhat numb as her body rocked once more, the azure finally falling back and panting, "My tongue hurts..."

The whites chest heaved, taking time to catch her breath before at last pulling her head from the ground. Valkyrie was lying back, legs spread, her own fluids a veritable flood covering her inner thighs and San's own tail. Having spent so much time pleasuring the other wyvern, her own lust had grown to such an incredible state, the azure furiously tail fucking herself. San shifted her body, moving forwards before placing her mouth at the wyverns opening, using her jaws to pull out the tail before clumsily lapping at her dripping cunt. "I should return the favour..."

Valkyrie moaned, although Gray had attained some skill in this field, there was just something so different about having another females tongue down there. She fell back, crying out as a silky smooth tongue delved her folds in a way that the dragons rough appendage had never done. Their positions had reversed, the azure at San's mercy as she began to increase the pressure and motion of her tongue, Valkyrie climaxing after mere moments of the treatment. San was in heaven, finally doing with another female what she has always wanted, forcing her to squirm as she nibbled her clit softly, feeling her cum into her waiting maw. "San..." She was panting heavily, crying out as the sensitivity of wyvern females came into its own, "You're so good...Ah! At that!" She bucked her hips, the whites enthusiasm having gotten the best of her as her nose disappeared between the wyverns legs. She pulled back, gasping for air before smirking, pulling close and muzzle fucking the runt. "Yeah! Just like that!" Val was moaning, screaming with a lustful abandon as she came hard, literally flooding out the white who came up spluttering and gasping for breath.

San grinned as she recovered more swiftly, taking advantage of the azures state to entwine their legs, working into position until their cunts were touching, grinding together with each motion. "I've always wanted to try this..." She gyrated her hips softly, Valkyrie mirroring the other wyvern, minds clouded by lust as they worked each other towards orgasm. She declared, "I'll make you cum first." The white leaning down, making use of her races flexibility as her tongue flicked over both of them. Valkyrie moaned, the slickness of their combined fluids allowing her to build a feverish pace, San's tongue the last push she needed to reach climax, continuing to ride her friend through it as a flood of juices flowed over both of their twats. The white cried out, joining the other female in orgasm only moments later, pulling up to grab at her body, kissing her to the taste of their combined cum.

As the sound of their own moans of pleasure faded at last, a new sound became audible, the two wyverns glancing at each other in confusion as they recovered. They rose up, peering over a nearby rock to see their guardians in a strange sixty-nine-ish position, Yuri being fed Gray's large draconic member as he tail fucked the moaning wolf roughly. It was that clear they had been watching for some time.

San gulped nervously as Valkyrie grinned, an idea beginning to form.

*****

On the other side of the lake, a black crescent, a tear in reality itself faded away along with the vortex of noise and wind. A cloaked man leaned against a nearby tree, sighing softly as a male in a tuxedo stood beside him. "You know the plan... This will draw them out." He turned away, "Everything has been arranged, are you ready?"

The tuxedo clad male closed his eyes, tying back long black hair with a thin cord, tossing a small silver scanner to the other man, "I'm ready, Arc."

A second tear appeared, dimensions rent apart as the man stepped forwards into the rift, "Then best of luck to you, Dran Kitsune."
