#2 of Things I do while procrastinating.

The demon sighed, placing the classical guitar that he had recently acquired off to the side. He locked his fingers together, before staring dead center although nothing was there. "I've been having this reoccurring dream lately and I can't even come close to figuring out what it means." The demon shifts his gaze upwards to the ceiling, those unique white eyes of his seemed focused on something that wasn't there. "It starts with me high above the skies of some battlefield in some jet, I don't know much about those terrors of the sky but I know the one I was piloting was at the very least fifth generation given by what I saw in the cockpit. I look around in that bright blue sky, the world below just seems to melt away for a moment. To be able to see the sky without any clouds, it was about as close as a guy like me could get to heaven."

Lust gave a chuckle at his own expense before continuing on with his story.

"Suddenly there is a breach in the clouds below, another jet tears through that pillow of white and enters the sky with me. His jet looked like mine but I think he was using an older model, but that didn't matter to me. We exchanged no words, we only did battle like true dogs of the sky. Each time we fought, pushing our planes to the limits as we breached the heaven's above with sounds of roaring engines and machine gun fire. The thing is despite me never having flown a jet, I loved every moment of that experience. A dog fight isn't too different from a normal fight, you're trying to psyche out your opponent and keep him on edge until you get that perfect moment to take him down. Aces don't mind being shot down if it is by a good opponent, hell many of them welcome it because being an Ace in the sky carries some serious weight to it and you'll rarely get to fight with someone on equal terms. Kind of weird for me to be spouting all this shit and I've only ever dreamed about it. Though I'll go on and wrap this up as I don't want to keep you in suspense."

"So I finally get a good shot in on this other pilot, his plane starts smoking and I figure that he will eject sometime soon. After about a minute of watching him struggle to keep it in the sky, I manage to get a lock on with my last missile. Everything seems to slow down and for an entire minute, I sit there, my thumb rubbing that button but never pressing down. I've got this fellow locked and I can easily take him out, he has been outmaneuvered and when that happens as an Ace, the only result is to lose your wings. Then I finally realized something, that sky that I loved, felt even better when I was sharing it. For that reason alone, I came in close to the man who was just my enemy moments before. I took a look at his plane and I could tell that the ejector seat just wasn't working the way it should've been. I knew only one way and with that, I shot off his canopy, then low and behold he manages to eject. I speed off in that jet, hearing nothing but the roar of the engines, knowing that he and I would meet in those same skies once more."
