Arthur's Note:

Yo! It's just little old me again. I don't have much to say...sorry about my earlier hiatus and enjoy the chapter. Oh, wait there is something to say; I've decided to add an opening. It's just the lyrics though; also I take no credit for it.

-PREVIOUSLY ON DRAGON STORM-

. Rio was on all fours once more zipping all over the battlefield. Everyone knew they were going to have to work together if they wanted to survive. Wild Horn ran at Rio and luckily restrains him before he could avoid it. Everyone attacked him while he was restrained. War Wolf sliced him in the chest and Cross Wing sniped him in the leg while Tiger Wanghu pressed his remote and his jet appeared and shot four missiles at Rio. Wild Horn threw him into the air at the missiles and even got two shots on him. Rio collided with the four missiles and an enormous explosion covered the sky. Winds picked up to 108 M.P.H; May passed out and was sent flying away. Everyone held on for dear life. Rio roared again causing more earthquakes and fell to the ground in so much pain he could no longer move. Everyone rushed over to where he fell and noticed his strange black markings spreading slowly. They almost completely cover him in black, there was hardly any red skin left on him. The huge dark black aura that was around him slowly faded as did the markings. Just like that Rio was back to normal with not a single scratch on him.

"Your mine now Rio...all mine!" War Wolf said and touched Rio's forehead.

Everyone else looked at each other and fell to the ground at the same time. They could not believe how powerful Rio can get. He was only going to keep getting stronger to. It's a good thing they managed to stop him before his markings completely engulfed him. There is no telling what would have happened. They all were out of ammo and breath and energy and all they did for a while is sit there and survey the destruction of the battlefield. BLACKFANG was almost single handedly destroyed by Rio. Everyone was lost for words.

Dragon Storm

CHAPTER 11: Zero motivation, The dragon with sketching envy!

"So are you ok over their mom?" Tia asked.

Tia was on the phone talking to here mother while watching the forecast. She would call her mom who was out of town for the time being and check up on her. She would get really worried about her since she was never home and she was left in the care of her father's care. Not that her father was irresponsible or anything, it's just that Tia got to see her dad all the time and granted he would take her places every now and then, but that didn't change the fact that Tia was concerned.

"Yes I'm ok dear. and how about you?"

"I am ok thanks to dad, but mom I miss you when are you going to come back? You have been away for almost a month already." Tia said.

"Don't worry, I will be home soon. Try not to worry so much ok? That's how you get gray hair."

"Oh ok. Just be careful mom, I'm watching the forecast right now and they say a bad thunder storm is headed your way." Tia explained.

"I'm working indoors dear, stop worrying so much."

" Ok be sure to eat healthy ok?" Tia said.

"Ok that's my line you know? I am your mother after. Anyway I have to get back to work ok dear."

"Ok I'll talk to you later mom bye, bye!" Tia said.

(Elsewhere: Submarine base)

Quicksilver just walked into his office. He had left to use the restroom and stop by the café to grab a cup of coffee. When he returned he found the mid sized room just as he left it. He walked to his desk and set down and took a sip of his coffee. He glared at all the scattered paperwork and equipment. It was quite messy and enough to drive him up the wall. He wondered if Rio and Lazz were doing all right. He was unable to call Rio or Lazz as of late via codec and he could not figure out why. He thought if they were in danger then they would have called by now. Given the circumstances they must have run into trouble by now and there was nothing he could do about it. Quicksilver pondered this while he drank his coffee slowly. Just then Kilala walked in the room and was on her cell phone. Quicksilver looked over to see her.

"Ok Tia I'll talk to you soon good bye!" Kilala said.

"Talking to your daughter, Tia again?" Quicksilver asked.

"Yeah, sorry... I was just a little concerned about her that's all. At any rate, any luck with the boys?" Kilala asked.

"Not at all Kilala, I feel the same way about Rio. Rio and Tia have been friends for as long as I can remember so it's understandable. And no... I'm afraid I have had no luck in contacting them, however I am going to try again shortly." Quicksilver said.

"Come in! Come in! Is anybody there? This is Lazz, over!" Lazz said.

"LAZZ!? The codec is working?! Are you ok Lazz?" Quicksilver asked.

" Yeah. How come you guys didn't try contacting us?" Lazz asked.

"I need you to believe me Lazz! I have been trying for the past two hours!" Quicksilver stated.

"Hmmm..... Anyway, I have news to report! And questions to ask! " Lazz said.

"That's what we are here for Lazz." Kilala stated.

" Alright, thanks to Rio I have knowledge of BLACKFANGS plan. You see, Rio and I were separated and Rio was captured by BLACKFANG. I guess they then interrogated him in order to find the whereabouts of the remains of Nuker. I don't know how he survived that last attack I saw him take, but I'm not complaining. Rio then must have turned on his codec to relay all the information back to me. I heard it all." Lazz said.

"And Rio?" Quicksilver asked.

"............." Lazz remained silent.

"Damn it!" Quicksilver said.

"What about their plans?" Kilala asked.

"I will be e-mailing it to you from my very own http sever. In this way, no one will be able to track it, thanks to my programming capabilities." Lazz said.

"Nice one Lazz!"

"Who is that?" Lazz asked.

Just then a short pure white-scaled dragon entered the office and joined in the codec conversation. She was a female dragon that had brown fur on the top of her head that started from her two baby blue horns and fell down the back of her neck and stopped at her mid back. Before she spoke again she pushed up her thin glasses with her ring finger.

"Oh sorry, I haven't introduced you two yet. This is Miss. Eubanks. She was assigned to us as our visual and data processing specialist. She designed your codec as well as your Soliton radar system. Contact her if you have questions about either of them." Quicksilver said.

"Why didn't you tell me about her before? On second thought... don't answer that!" Lazz said.

"Nice to meet you Lazz" Eubanks said.

"Make sure to be careful Lazz! They got Rio and they can get you too! The genome griffin soldiers have highly developed senses of hearing and seeing due to their gene therapy." Kilala added.

"Where are you now Lazz?" Quicksilver asked.

"I'm in some sort of office. Don't worry I'm using my G.O.N. to camouflage myself in with my surroundings. Other then that I am sending you this E-mail and instead of watching this bar go across the screen I am drawing a picture while talking to you. " Lazz explained.

"What? Lazz you only have 18 hours left before BLACKFANG launches the nuclear weapon!" Quicksilver stated.

"Lazz you seem...speechless." Eubanks said.

"Oh sorry about that... I just didn't expect a world-class designer of military technology to be my former high school guidance consoler." Lazz explained.

"Small world huh?" Eubanks said.

"Remember Lazz Ineed you to find the Darpa Chief and the president of Dragon tech. " Quicksilver stated.

" The Darpa chief was injected with the same GPS transmitting nanomachines as you." Kilala added.

"So he should appear on your radar." Eubanks said.

"I see." Lazz said.

"Also your radar can handle the weather no problem, however it's all made from currently existing technology so you won't be able to use it in a place with strong harmonic resonance, so be careful." Eubanks said.

"Ok I got it. The E-mail is done transferring now so I'm going to head out now. I'll call again if I'm feeling lonely." Lazz said and put his gear back on.

(Meanwhile: Griffin Stronghold)

Lazz looked at Amy who was on the ground and hadn't moved much since the separation of Rio. Lazz was able to fix her up as best he could with medical supplies he found in a near by cabinet. Lazz thought that she must have grown close to Rio in the time they spent together and missed him. He also thought to himself about how he managed to escape from his encounter with the pseudo-chimera.

(Flashback: An earlier event)

The giant creature roared even louder and started to walk toward Amy. Amy tried to move, but she could not. Lazz didn't know what he should do or what to even think for that matter. He looked up to see the smoke clear. The only visible part of Rio that remained was his dead-still arm that was cover in his blood. The rest of him was buried by dibre. Lazz wanted to move, but he was bound by fear.

Suddenly Lazz pulled out his L.T.D. (laser targeting device) and pressed the button on it. Almost instantly Lazz got up and made a mad dash toward Amy, but away from the Pseudo-chimera. Lazz picked Amy up and carried her away as a rather large laser beam emerged from the heavens and striked the giant beast. It roared in pain and flew off badly wounded, but was quickly interrupted by two heat seeking missiles. They crashed into the beast and it fell to the ground. Meanwhile Tiger Wanghu jumped out of his jet and walked toward Rio's location while talking over his codec, most likely to his supervisor Rock Lizard. He dug up Rio's body and returned to his jet and took off into the sky. Lazz looked back to see this happen and then headed for a small door that led inside. When he got in, it was completely empty and computers were lined up on desks. The first thing Lazz noticed was that they were running on a vista operating system. Lazz hated working with vista he would much rather prefer windows XP then anything else. He sighed to himself and called Quicksilver, his commanding officer for this mission, via codec.

(Flash forward: Stronghold side gate)

Lazz walked while he thought about it. He decided to leave the wolf behind since it was not part of the mission in any way. And it would only slow him down since it was injured and still trying to recover. Lazz found himself at a side gate that lead back into the stronghold. The only problem was that it was heavily guarded. It was beginning to snow now and everything was almost completely blanketed in a giant white fluff. The two spotlights swayed back and forth and covered the whole field that lead to the side gate. Just then Lazz got a call from Quicksilver on his codec and he decided to answer it.

"Yes? What is it?" Lazz answered while looking though his binoculars.

"If you want to get in, there's the side door. It's the fastest way, but there's too much risk in being spotted by the enemy." Quicksilver stated.

" Hmmm.... There is one sentry on the left, and one on the right. There armed with "five five sixers" and pineapples." Lazz said while moving in closer for a better look.

"What about the air duct near the door?" Quicksilver asked.

"Good idea! Alright I'll try it, over and out." Lazz said and sneaked around the sentries and spotlights and entered the air duct.

Lazz was crawling through a ventilation shaft when he all of a sudden found himself thinking about Rio again. He couldn't help it. He felt sorry for the little red dragon. The only reason he ran away from the area was because he was already in a bad situation and was low on ammo and Quintessence from his fight with Thunder Pegasus. Just then Lazz over heard two griffin soldiers talking.

"I moved the Darpa chief into the cell on the first basement floor." The first griffin said.

"What about the vent shaft cleaning?" The second griffin said.

" They just opened the vent covers, they will start spraying them soon." The first griffin said.

Lazz crawled through what seemed like an endless maze of shafts before he had finally found his way down to the basement floor. He figured that this was good because he can only use his G.O.N. to camouflage so many times before he would run out of Quintessence. Then as he made another turn in the shafts he found himself thinking about Rio again. He was just a young dragon. Why did Quicksilver send him on this mission if he knew how dangerous it was going to be? Lazz thought that maybe he didn't make the right choice by putting the mission in front of the well being of his partner. As Lazz was running away he looked back, Rio looked dead and even seemed dead. There is no way he could have survived an attack that powerful from something that was a colossus. However it was only thanks to Rio that he knows about theirs plans. So in other words he has to be alive somehow and somewhere. Just then Lazz finally found the Darpa chief's cell and popped open the vent on the ceiling and hoped down. He found himself looking at a rather tall black dragon. He had a small afro growing on the top of his head and was wearing a business suit with a tie that was poke doted. Lazz then saw his cell and took a closer look. It was small and it smelled of a thousand skunks. He saw only a bed, a sink, and a toilet and that was it. Lazz returned his gaze on the Darpa chief and saw him just sitting on his bed looking back at Lazz in confusion.

" Who are you?" The Darpa chief asked.

"I'm here to save you. You're the Darpa chief, Kazuki Takahashi right?" Lazz asked.

"You're here to save me huh?! What's your outfit? " Kazuki Takahashi asked as he got up and backed away from Lazz.

" I'm the pawn they sent here to save your worthless butt." Lazz said firmly as he seated himself on the floor and started to draw his picture again.

" It's true... you don't look like one of them. In that case hurry up and get me out of here." Kazuki Takahashi demanded.

"Slow down, don't worry. First I want some information.... About the terrorists." Lazz said as he proceeded with sketching his picture.

" The terrorist?" Kazuki Takahashi asked.

"Do they really have the ability to launch a nuke?" Lazz asked while looking up at the Darpa chief.

" What are you talking about?" Kazuki Takahashi asked.

"The terrorists are threatening the Organization I work for, the D.E.O. (Dragon Enforcers Organization.) As well as the government. They say if they don't accede to their demands, they'll launch a nuclear weapon." Lazz explained and then continued sketching his picture.

" Sweet Jesus." Kakuzi Takahashi said.

"Yup. Holy shit Jesus. That's what I said to myself when I found out." Lazz said.

" Yes.... Yes it is very possible.... They could launch a nuke." Kazuji Takahashi said.

" How do they plan to launch?" Lazz asked while not enlightened the least bit.

"..........." Kazuki Takahashi said nothing.

" I thought this place was just for keeping the dismantled warheads.... They shouldn't have access to a missile... " Lazz said.

" What I am about to tell you is classified information. Okay? We were conducting exercises with a new type of experimental weapon. A weapon that will change the world." Kazuki Takahashi said and walked past Lazz to the sink so he can look at himself in the mirror.

"What? Lazz asked.

" A weapon with the ability to launch a nuclear attack from any place on the face of the earth. A nuclear equipped walking battle tank!" Kazuki Takahashi explained.

"You mean that Pseudo-chimera creature?" Lazz asked.

" You've seen it?!" Kazuki Takahashi asked.

"Yeah. There is a satellite orbiting just above this island. I was able to use my L.T.D to knock it out, but not kill it. " Lazz said.

"The Pseudo-chimera is one of the most secret black projects! It's said to rival the nuclear destruction of the legendary dragon Nuker. Nuker had the power or G.O.N. to blast nukes from his mouth, and they are trying to recreate that power, but within a more controllable creature. They say Nuker could also do a million other things with all his different G.O.N.s, but the one everyone wants their hands on the most is his nuclear G.O.N." Kazuki Takahashi explained.

" So that's the reason why you were at this disposal site?" Lazz asked.

" Why else would I come to a god forsaken place like this." Kazuki Takahashi said.

"Doesn't that mean that the Pseudo-chimera project is scrapped since I used a L.T.D. on it? " Lazz asked.

" On the contrary. It's grown into a huge joint project between Dragon tech and ourselves. We were going to use this exercise as raw data and then proceed to mass production. If it hadn't been for the revolution. " Kazuki Takahashi explained.

"Revolution?" Lazz asked and then looked up again.

"The "Teenager" has fallen into the hands of the terrorists.... " Kazuki Takahashi said and then walked away from the mirror and stopped mid way in the room with his back turned to Lazz.

"Teenager?" Lazz questioned.

" Pseudo-chimera Teenager. The code name for the old Pseudo-chimera prototype." Kazuki Takahashi said.

"Wait! There is more then one of these things?" Lazz asked while dropping his pencil.

"Yes. The one you saw was "Teenager" we used to have "baby" but it failed so we disposed of it. We also have "Adult" We are currently working on him. He is to be even stronger then "Teenager". Kazuki Takahashi explained.

"Hmmm.... They're probably already finished arming the warhead and they must be planning to use it with Pseudo-chimera "Adult" these guys are pros." Lazz added.

"Yes. They're all experienced in handling and equipping weapons. " Kazuki Takahashi said.

"But I thought that all nuclear warheads were equipped with safety measures." Lazz said while picking his pencil back up and stared at what he drew thus far, and then proceeded to say. " Some kind of detonation code that you have to input.... " Lazz added.

" Oh you mean P.A.L.(Permissive Action Link) Yes of coarse, there is a P.A.L. It's set up so that you need to input two different passwords in order to launch the device." Kazuki Takahashi said.

"There are two passwords?" Lazz said.

" Yes. Obata knows one and I know one." Kazuki Takahashi said.

"Obata? You mean the president of Dragon tech?" Lazz asked.

"That's right. Each of us needs to input our password or there can be no launch, but they found out my password." Kazuki Takahashi said.

" You talked?" Lazz asked.

" War Wolf can read your mind. That's his G.O.N. you can't resist." Kazuki Takahashi said.

"I almost forgot.... He has psychic powers." Lazz said.

" This is bad. And it's only a matter of time before they figure out Obata's too. If they figure out his password.... They'll be able to launch a nuke with Pseudo-chimera "adult" anytime they want, but there is a way to stop the launch." Kazuki Takahashi said.

"What?" Lazz asked.

"The card keys." Kazuki Takahashi said.

" Card keys?" Lazz asked.

"Yes. They were designed by dragon tech's system developers as an emergency override. Even without the passwords you can just insert the card keys and engage the safety lock. " Kazuki Takahashi explained.

" And if I do that?" Lazz asked.

" Yes. You can stop the launch." Kazuki Takahashi said.

" So where are the card keys?" Lazz asked.

"Obata should have them. Listen you need three card keys in all. I think they are holding him just below us on the second basement floor." Kazuki Takahashi said and then handed me a card. " Here, take my I.D card. It'll open any level three-security door. It's called a P.A.N.(Personal area network) card. It works together with your body's own electrical field.

" Personal area network huh?" Lazz asked as he took the card.

" It transmits data using the salts in your body as the transmission medium. As you approach the door's security devices, they'll read the data stored on the card, and the doors will open automatically." Kazuki Takahashi said.

"Ok let's get you out of here." Lazz said as he put away his drawing and walked to the ventilation shaft he came from.

"Wait, do the D.E.O. plan to give in to the terrorist's demands and what about the pentagon!?" Kazuki Takahashi asked, but then he suddenly grabbed his chest in pain and screamed. Shortly there after, he fell to the ground and died.

Lazz saw this and jumped into the ventilation shaft quickly. He placed the vent back over the opening and watched as griffin soldiers engulfed the room. They were all wondering what had just happened and so was Lazz. Then they all ran out of the room and carried the body with them. Lazz didn't know what they were up to, but he had no further use in him anyway, he had gotten all the information that he needed and was ready to move on with his mission.

Arthur's comment:

Will Lazz be able to make it out of the ventilation shafts before they start spraying or will he get lost in a seemingly endless maze within the stronghold?

Dose Rock Lizard have something to do with the death of Kazuki Takahashi? And what has he done with Rio?
