** OUR DARKNESS**

** CHAPTER ONE: A NEW FRIEND**

If you haven't seen the previous note on the introduction, I'll say it again for you: I changed this story to anthro, so don't get confused. And this story will be taken in point of views.

SHAD'S POV

"What are you doing here?" I ask hotly. A few locks of my hair fall in front of my face, causing my paw to reach up involuntarily and brush them away.

"Just taking a midnight stroll," The person says briskly. He's a black-furred rabbit with orange eyes, and he's wearing a long-sleeved grey shirt and black pants. His ears are medium-length like mine, and his fur is fluffier then normal, a lot like mine.

"Right..." I say uncertainly. "Well, since you're here... wanna walk with me?" I extend my paw in hopes he's not an unfriendly type.

"Sure," The anthro shrugs. "I don't really have anything better to do." He takes my paw for a moment, giving it a brief shake, before setting off. I follow him quickly to keep up.

"So, what's your name?" I ask.

"Tobias," The rabbit replies. "Yours?"

My ears twitch slightly, and I mutter, "Shad."

"Nice name," He says, smirking slightly. I try not to blush, as I don't get comments like that a lot. "T-thanks.." The wind brushes my face slightly, but only a small amount of it, as most of it is hidden under the hood of my jacket.

"So, why are you here?" Tobias asks, and my ears perk up. Great. This question.

"I couldn't sleep. I just needed to get out. You know?" I say, narrowing my eyes slightly, waiting for him to say, 'I totally know what you mean' or something like this.

"Yeah... It happens to me sometimes. I just need to get out sometimes, you know?" Tobias replies, taking me aback a little. Wow. This guy actually seems to understand, I think.

"Sometimes I go in and try to buy something to eat or something, but everybody looks at me, and then some official-looking manager guy tells me I need to leave," Tobias chuckles dreamily, as if it wasn't annoying at all.

"That sucks..." I say, trying to be sympathetic. He chuckles, and just shrugs. "Not a big deal. I just always leave and go to another place. Not a big deal at all."

"Yeah... So, how's life for you right now?" He asks me. His eyes are narrowed, but only slightly.

"Mm... hardly better then yesterday," I say in a bored way. He looks slightly concerned now. "What's wrong with your life?" He asks, tilting his head slightly.

"I'm depressed currently... life really sucks right now. I'm so glad I have friends to help me through it," I say, my voice rising a little to sound a little grateful.

"Does one of them happen to be Cloven?" He asks. My heart jumps a little. Cloven's my best friend, and he tells these amazing jokes that used to make us laugh until it hurt. He's written a whole book about them, and I keep telling him he should be a comedian.

His aqua-blue shoulder-length hair, his dark-green eyes, his fur, the same colour as his hair, and his love for checkered shirts. Whenever I see any of those things, I think of Cloven.

"Yeah! He's my best friend," I reply. Tobias chuckles, and nods. "I happen to know him as well." He looks at the moon overhead and sighs. "Well, I'd better be getting home now. It was nice talking to you."

"You too," I say, watching as the rabbit leaves, waving as he goes. I wave back, and then waver a little longer to watch the moon slowly moving. Then, I head for home.

I've still got sleep to catch up on.

Well, short chapter, but next chapter will hopefully be longer. I hope ya'll enjoyed!
