Origin of a Furry Slave Race
Just something I wrote during a quiet patch at work.
It started with one woman. A rather unattractive woman in her thirties. She turned up to a hospital one evening complaining of stomach pains. The doctors quickly realized she was in the early stages of labour. She said that was impossible, that she hadn't been with a man in years, but there was no doubt she was having a baby. Later in the delivery room she gave birth to a bouncing baby, thing.It was put together like a human but had the head, tail, paws and fur of a dog. The doctors were baffled. Later the woman would go on to claim her dog had raped her, although many would claim she had fornicated with it willingly. The dog itself was never found, she told the authorities it had escaped but witnesses claim to have seen her deliberately freeing the animal.Scientists studied her and the half-dog child. The child grew up quickly, reaching full maturity within a few years. It was not as intelligent as a human but was capable of understanding simple commands. Tests also proved it was infertile. Despite years of study they were never able to explain how the inter-breeding of too different species had occurred.Other scientists who did not have access to the woman or her child secretly devised their own experiments. Taking lab animals and attempting to inter-breed them with human volunteers. To their astonishment it worked! A human female could be impregnated by an animal. Rates of conception were lower with more dissimilar species but it was possible! Strangely the same was not true when combining a female animal with a human male or a male and female of two different animal species, only human females were capable of cross-breeding. To this day no one has been able to explain why such an extraordinary and specific change to the laws of nature could have occurred.As word got around about these new creatures they became the hot new pet. The rich and famous started to judge their success by how many half breed pets they owned. It wasn't long before someone started to teach their pets how to do menial chores, making them into servants. The next step saw them doing simple jobs, it became cheaper to train half breed pets than to employ human workers. And so the half-breeds became the new slave race.Companies got rich and powerful on this new cheap labour. So much so they were able to lobby the government to legally define the half-breeds as property with no legal rights or freedoms. The only problem for businesses was a shortage of supply, but as more employees were replaced with slaves, more and more unemployed women, and wives of unemployed men, started getting pregnant with half-breed babies so they could sell them after they were born. Initially bestiality was still illegal, but they took the risk regardless just to get the money they needed to survive. Later the companies exerted their influence over the government again to repeal the law against women fornicating with animals.Of course not everyone is happy with the way things
are. Religious groups brand the half-breeds as abominations. Worker's unions picket businesses demanding the return of jobs to humans. Equality activists call for full human rights to half-humans. But as long as the companies hold sway nothing is going to change. Some half humans are born with human level intelligence. A few of them manage to escape, most are recaptured. Several who have been recaptured were found after having stolen animals and kidnapped women in an attempt to try and make more of their kind.
