Regardless, his spirits seemed to have lifted when he saw Blade.

"Hello, Saber," Koru said, his sapphire eyes gleaming brightly. "Aislin's going to be so happy to see you!"

Saber smiled softly in return and nodded happily, sitting down next to Blade while looking up at the larger, blue dragon. "Hello... uhm... Koru?"

He nodded and bared a friendly smile. "Nice to meet you."

"I hope you don't mind the extra company, Koru," Raevocrei said, looking down at all of them. "They're staying until Aislin shows up." Then Raev slid the deer over to Blade and Saber. "The rest is for you two. Ahk should be back soon with ours."

Blade and Saber thanked him and eagerly began to eat their portion. Saber took a leg, which was more than enough for his size, and bit into the succulent flesh. It had been a long time since he had a fresh kill, and it tasted absolutely delicious.

"Oh, that's fine!" Koru replied. "I'm always up for making a new friend, especially one with a reputation that Saber has. Blade can go preen his feathers for all I care," he teased, smirking at Blade.

Saber finished his meal and sat there in confusion, unsure of what the hell just happened. Were they really arguing or were they going to kiss?

Saber looked at them with his mouth slightly parted, a bit bewildered. "Y- You two are friends?"

Blade nodded happily and squeezed Koru in an embrace. "Probably best-friends!"

Koru grumbled, vainly trying to push himself away from the hug. "I wouldn't stretch it too far, featherbutt. You're in competition with Bry."

Blade grumbled and rolled his eyes. "It doesn't count when you were already friends in your story!"

Koru chuckled and made Saber smile. Saber liked someone who could get under Blade's feathers since he couldn't seem to do so himself. "Well, he's been there more for me than you ever have!"

Blade sighed with defeat, but a confident smirk still spread his lips. "Then I'm your best fuzzy friend."

"You're my only fuzzy friend," Koru remarked.

"You're the only fuzzy dragon character in this world," Raevocrei added.

"Then that also makes you the worst!" Koru returned, also proving a valid point. "It's just a matter of perspective."

Saber chuckled with them. Having fun with a group of friends reminded him of the time he and Aislin had spent with William and Ruari. He briefly reminisced before being brought back to the conversation.

"So you're the one who put a hole in the fourth wall, Saber?" Koru asked curiously.

Saber nodded sheepishly and pawed at the ground. "I- I guess I did..."

"Wow, I would have never imagined that to be possible... It's rather unlucky of you to have found Blade first thing!"

"I resent that," Blade grumbled and rolled his eyes. "If it wasn't for me, he'd still be stuck in the earth! Besides, we had a good time."

Saber blushed warmly and nodded. "I did h- have a good time with Blade," he admitted, looking away embarrassingly. He never imagined telling anyone about it!

"You and almost everyone else around," Koru remarked and chuckled. "Blade was never taught to sheathe his sword."

Koru nodded and sighed, also seeming to be embarrassed about it as he avoided eye contact. "If there's anything he could be considered good at, it would be giving pleasure."

Blade fluffed his feathers proudly and held his chin up. "I've mated with almost every character here!"

Raevocrei grumbled and nodded while rolling his eyes. "Yes, you do seem to have a knack for getting underneath everyone's tails, but please stop harassing my mate," he said sternly. "She's not interested."

Raev's eyes brightened. "N- no... that's not what I meant." He caught the deer Ahk tossed him and set it aside.

Ahk smiled at the four males and greeted them before returning her attention to Raev as she stepped next to Blade and Koru, hovering over Blade's body. "So if I wanted to mate with Blade I could?" she teased and gave the feathered dragon an affectionate nuzzle.

Raev blinked and furrowed his brow, shaking his head. "W- Why would you want t- to?" He hesitantly took a step toward them. Koru raised a brow and separated from Blade, stepping to the side. Saber had an inkling that something was about to happen. He could almost feel the tension in the air, but Blade was too focused on Ahk to care.

"Well, he is a good-looking dragon after all," she added, grinning deviously at Raev. She knew what she was doing, and she was enjoying every bit of it. And poor Raev wasn't quite sure what to make of it!

Blade nodded and affectionately nuzzled her leg. "I am! It's only natural that the most handsome male and the most beautiful female mated!"

Raev growled in his throat and held his forepaw up, pointing a digit at Blade. Blade's eyes widened and Ahk swiftly stepped to the side. All at once, his feathers puffed up wildly, making him look like a ball of fluff as he stumbled to the ground, groaning.

Saber couldn't help but to laugh out loud at Blade--realizing that he was okay first--and he was soon joined in laughter by everyone but Blade. All of Blade's feathers stood on end as he struggled to stand up.

Blade shook his head and blinked, seeming to be a bit rattled. "W- What... what was that for!?"

"To teach you a lesson about touching my mate," Raev responded and lit a spark between two of his digits mischievously. Saber wondered how he was able to do that, eyeing Raev with curiosity.

"He's a very jealous mate," Ahk added as she sat by her mate's side. She nuzzled him tenderly and rested her head on his shoulder as he smiled softly and wrapped a wing around her.

Blade grumbled and tried to pat his feathers down. "She touched me first!" he complained. Saber couldn't keep from giggling. He thought Blade had looked ridiculous with his feathers wetted down; this was just unbearably amusing! No matter how hard Blade tried, his feathers seemed to stick up on their own.

"She can do what she wants," Raev replied, smirking. "But you can't."

"That much is apparent," he grumbled with irritation. "Look at what you did to my feathers!" He glared at Raev, having given up on fixing his feathers. The pathetic and irritated look on his face combined with his appearance of being a fluff ball only provoked more laughter.

"You're not angry are you?" Ahk teased.

"No... I'm just a little _shocked,"_Blade retorted with a wide smirk.

Saber nearly burst out laughing in a fit of giggles. He shook his head and managed to contain himself.

Raev chuckled, baring his teeth in a wily grin. He and Ahk began to pick at their own meals. "I think it's an improvement."

Koru nodded and rejoined Blade. He nuzzled the pouting dragon, giggling as he licked his nose. "You're adorable."

Blade wiggled in place and grinned. "Am I?"

"Yes, and easy to distract," Koru added and chuckled.

Saber chuckled with them, baring a toothy grin. Then he asked Raev, "How did you do that?"

Raev swallowed a chunk of meat and wiped his lips. He smiled at Saber and showed off a bit more by creating sparks with his claws. "You could call it magic, and you would be right, though it's more of an ability created by energy. It's something that the characters in Ahk and I's story inherently possess, but everyone's energy is generated differently. Mine happens to be through the element of lightning."

Saber nodded and his eyes grew big. He never knew anyone that could use magic, and he had only seen it one other time since his arrival. "What about Ahkaeirvah?"

Ahk grinned at him and nodded. "Not necessarily magic, as my ability acts far differently from Raev's. My energy flows throughout my body, so I can manipulate my strength and speed."

Raev chuckled and added, "She is much stronger and faster than me, despite what our appearances may say." Then he returned his attention to Saber and continued, "We could go on for hours about the differences, and then days for how our 'magic' works, but it wouldn't be progressive to your story."

Saber nodded again smiled. "I understand. Thanks!"

"For now, I think Ahk and I are going to go and find Aislin. We have a good idea of where she will be, so there's a good chance of us finding her."

Saber's heart fluttered as a big smile curled his lips. "R- Really?"

Ahk nodded and nuzzled him, smiling softly as her crimson eyes met his. "But don't get your hopes too high."

Saber nodded and gulped. They grabbed the deer carcasses and began to head out. He watched them as they walked away from the three males, feeling anxious already. "Thank you!" he called out to them as they said their farewells. He couldn't shake the smile spreading his lips as he thought about seeing Aislin again.

"You really love her, don't you?" Koru asked and smiled softly at Saber.

Saber nodded happily and bared his teeth joyfully. "I do! I love her a lot!" If there was anything in the world that he was most confident about, it was that he loved Aislin with all of his heart.

Koru chuckled lightly, and that was when Saber noticed the longing look in his sapphire eyes as he glanced away. They seemed to be looking at a different picture, one that the blue dragon held close to his heart. Blade warbled and nuzzled Koru affectionately, bringing him back to reality.

Saber stepped closer to them and sat on his hind next to Blade and across from Koru. "So... do you have a mate, Koru?"

Koru looked at Saber and shook his head. This time Saber saw a twist of pain swirl in his spheres. "I... I used to..." He glanced away and avoided eye contact.

Saber felt his heart lurch in his chest almost painfully. After hearing about what happened with Blade's mate, he only predicted the worse. "I'm sorry... I didn't know."

Koru bared a small smile and lifted his head up slightly. "It's fine... I suppose you would like to know what happened?"

Curious as Saber was, he didn't want to bring back painful memories to Koru. "Only if you want to share."

"I suppose I get a spot in the limelight as well..." he said and continued, "Her name was Reesa. She was the most beautiful dragoness I had ever laid eyes on... and she was also my best-friend for years before we had finally mated. I- ... I loved her so much... Koru sniffled and was immediately comforted by Blade. "Our relationship nearly fell apart after an atrocious deed was committed against Reesa... I could hardly bare to see her suffer like that. Saber felt tears welling in his eyes too. He wanted to comfort Koru himself, but he was glad Blade was there for him.

"It's not your fault," Blade consoled. "Stop blaming yourself."

Koru shook his head as he cried. "I am to blame. I could have t- talked her out of it... I didn't protect her well enough... I distracted her."

Blade squeezed Koru tightly and held him fondly. "You did everything you could, Koru."

Koru sniffled and gritted his teeth together. He wiped his tears away and slowly nodded. "S- Sorry... I... I know. I just... I miss her so much. I can never stop th- thinking about her... I w- wish she was here..."

Saber clenched his jaw tight and felt a few tears fall from his cheeks. He was reminded of Aislin when he had thought he lost her forever. A painful ache gripped his heart. He shook away the memory and replaced it with all of their tender moments before and after. After everything they had gone through, Saber and Aislin were still alive and they still loved each other. He felt terribly sorry for both Koru and Blade who had lost their mates.

Koru wiped away the last of his tears and brought his head up. "If it wasn't for my good friend Bry, I never would have made it here either." He looked lovingly into Blade's eyes and nuzzled his snout. "I've met so many friends in this world, and they've all helped fill that hole in my heart."

Then Saber came to the realization once again: the characters here were more than just story-book characters. To him, they were just as real as he was, even if none of them truly existed. But that was the magic of it all. They were real to anyone who wanted them to be real. Imaginary as they were, they could be brought to life in a countless number of ways and still be exactly who they are. Saber would always be Saber, Blade would always be Blade, and Koru would always be Koru.

It didn't matter what world or story they were in!

Koru returned his attention to Saber and grinned awkwardly. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to drop that on you after we had only just met."

Saber smiled softly back at him and nuzzled him comfortingly. "It's fine. I was happy to listen!"

Koru nodded and grinned in return. "It's not often that I share that... but I think I feel a little better each time," he commented, shyly clawing at the ground. "Thank you for listening."

"Of course," Saber responded politely.

Then Blade's eyes lit up with another one of his magnificent ideas. "So... Raev and Ahk are gone," he pointed out, smirking.

"And?" Saber asked, wondering what he could be getting at... but it wasn't long before he had an idea. It was Blade after all!

"It's just the three of us! Why don't we have a little fun while they're out?"

Saber and Koru both exchanged worried glances. They had just met!

Koru stammered and shook his head. "N- Now? Why are you always s- so eager!?"

"She's not my crush! She's... just... a friend..."

"A friend you want to mate with," Blade added. "A lot."

Aislin giggled. "That's cute, Koru. You haven't asked her to mate yet?"

Koru pawed at the ground and shook his head. "N- No. I... haven't really talked to her."

Ahkaeirvah added, "She can be a very nice dragoness, Koru. Don't let her bluntness discourage you... she'd like you a lot."

Koru nodded meekly and grinned.

"You should see how he acts when he sees her! He gets so nervous that he'd walk into a building or something," Blade said, chuckling with a big, toothy grin.

"Do not!" Koru objected. "It only happened one time..."

Aislin and Saber both giggled and imagined Koru walking into a wall. Saber grinned widely and remembered how he had first acted around Aislin.

Saber had the biggest crush on her, and he had acted just as clumsy and he could hardly talk straight. His whole body slightly trembled whenever he was around her. He had the toughest time putting on those flight suits because of it. And when she helped him, it only made his situation worse! He couldn't count how many times he had to will an erection away or try to hide it.

And the first time he had slept in the same bed as her...

Saber shuddered and cast those thoughts away before he'd become aroused again. Aislin nuzzled him lovingly, seeming to have noticed his absence from the conversation, and admired their egg again. Saber was very thankful that he had gotten over that phase. Now when he was close to her, he felt calm and warm, nothing even close to nervousness. He nuzzled her back and rested against her. She was the rock he could lean against.

Raevocrei eventually made his return while grumbling to himself, his tail swishing irately behind him. "Sorry," he apologized, "I needed some... space and fresh air. It's very stuffy in here."

Blade giggled and wiggled excitedly in place. Saber could only imagine what lewd comment he would make. "Did you stroke one off, Raev?"

Saber couldn't help but to smile at that while everyone but Raev giggled.

"N- No!" Raev stuttered and scratched his forearm as he glared at a wall. "I was... flying." He shuffled his wings a bit and sat sejant next to his mate.

Ahk chuckled and nuzzled his snout tenderly. "You didn't miss much, my love."

"Good." He grinned toothily and looked down at Saber and Aislin. "I forgot to congratulate you both on your egg! We're really happy for you two!" He glanced at his mate, and she nodded and grinned.

Aislin and Saber both said their thanks, smiling proudly and brightly while glancing at their egg.

"I'm really glad to see you both back together," Ahk added. "You're both so cute."

Saber blushed awkwardly and shifted around. Aislin simply giggled and nuzzled him.

"I haven't been this happy in a long time," Aislin said. She licked Saber's snout affectionately, making his nose wrinkle. Then she wrapped her forearms around him and squeezed him tight. Saber warbled happily and nuzzled her snout.

Then Saber had a question for Raev. "So, why did I take so long to get here? Why didn't I just appear?"

Raev pondered for a moment, searching for an answer. "I... I don't know, Saber. How did you get here?"

Saber thought back to the first thing he remembered upon entering this world. He had been so disoriented then that he wasn't sure if what he had seen was really real. But then again, what was exactly real?

"I... fell from... space?" He shrugged his wings. There really wasn't any reasonable explanation for what happened that he could think of. "All I can understand is that I came from outside the world and crashed through the wall."

"What's on the other side of the wall?" Blade asked curiously.

Saber shrugged his wings again. "Nothing... a lot of stars and lights, but it still felt completely devoid of light. It was... terrifying," he admitted. "I didn't think I existed anymore." Saber shivered and was immediately comforted by Aislin who squeezed him tighter. He thanked her with an affectionate nuzzle.

Raevocrei nodded slowly. "There doesn't seem to be any explanation other than that our creator had other plans for you, since you are the main character of this story."

Saber nodded and shifted uneasily. "I still don't like that idea..."

Aislin giggled beside him. "Are you worried about someone reading your thoughts?"

Saber meeped and shook his head. "I didn't even think about that!"

If he was the main character of the story, then that means everything was mostly told from his perspective... which meant that almost everything he was thinking about was exposed for someone to see! Not only have his actions been witnessed, but his thoughts too! Saber grumbled and rolled his eyes.

It's too late to care now! he thought in an attempt to throw off the reader, even though he really did care. Damnit...

"I know I'd like to know what goes on in that head of yours sometimes," Aislin commented and licked sensually down his neck. Saber shuddered and exposed his neck to her.

"As would I," Blade cooed into Saber's ear and rubbed his soft, feathered body against him. Then his tongue traced down the other side of Saber's neck. Saber meeped and stifled a groan. Not now!

Aislin growled and pushed her body against Saber. Saber trembled between them, unsure of what to do. He felt completely helpless as Aislin and Blade seemed to fight over his body. It wasn't long before there were paws groping at him. Saber could already feel arousal leaking into his loins.

"You're not trying to take my mate from me, are you Blade?"

"What if I am?"

"Then I'll have to tear you to pieces."

Saber knew she was serious too. Friend or not, if Blade pushed it too far, Aislin would get violent. She was very defensive over her mate. Saber tried to wriggle free, but the onslaught was becoming too much and less and less arousing--much to his relief. He kept their egg tucked safely against his torso.

Then Ahkaeirvah intervened and plucked Saber from between Blade and Aislin. Saber yelped as he was picked up and instinctively wiggled in her grasp, being especially careful not to drop their egg. Ahkaeirvah giggled and set him down beside her.

"Okay, you two. If you keep at it, there won't be much of Saber left!"

Blade flared his yellow-feathered crest, glaring at the gray dragoness while she glared back. Koru tugged at Blade's tail, trying his best to help. Blade grumbled and shifted his wings anxiously before calming down. He sat on his rear and sighed.

"Fine. You can have him."

"I thought so," Aislin retorted and grinned as she settled down too. "He is my mate, Blade."

"But he's one of my mating partners!" he whined. "You'll at least let me have some fun with him... right?"

Saber blushed warmly, wondering what Aislin would say. He could already see so many different thoughts rolling through her mind, and not one of them was her saying no. She had other plans for Saber...

"Of course not!"

"He's not property, you know," Koru added.

Saber nodded in agreement. "I should be allowed the choice!"

Then both Aislin's and Blade's eyes glowered at him, and that was when Saber realized his mistake. He meeped and slightly backed away, accidentally bumping into Raev.

"Oh, and who would you choose, Saber?" Aislin asked sternly as she stepped intimidatingly towards him.

Blade growled at her and approached Saber too. "I think he'd choose the best lover," Blade said with a cocky grin.

"You think you're better at mating than I am?" Aislin growled at Blade as she turned to him.

Blade puffed his feathers out as he nodded and responded, "I've received plenty of compliments and I am very experienced!" Then he glanced over at the cowering purple dragon and added, "Saber has complimented me!"

Aislin rolled her eyes. "I've mated more with him than you have! He's complimented me plenty!"

Blade scoffed. "You've had more time with him!"

She growled a bit and stepped up extremely close to Blade, her snout inches from his as she had to pull her neck up to stare him down. "Because he's my mate!"

Saber wasn't sure who would win in a fight. Blade most certainly had the size advantage, but he didn't have scales or the sheer ferocity Aislin possessed... as far as Saber knew, at least. Blade didn't seem much like a fighter at all, but he had to admit that he was an excellent lover--though he'd never tell Aislin that!

Raev chuckled and used his long, giant tail to separate Aislin and Blade. "Now, now, you two! I'm sure Saber could never choose which of you he'd rather mate with. Aislin, you are his mate; and Blade, you are his friend. You're both special to him in some way, so why not share him equally?"

Aislin pouted and backed off a bit, but still seeming somewhat upset.

"Why don't you three go spend some time together," Ahk suggested with a sly grin.

Saber saw both Aislin and Blade's eyes meet, and two different smirks spread each of their lips soon after. Saber meeped and blushed as their heads turned toward him, realizing what Ahk was suggesting.

"B- But I have a few more questions!" Saber objected. Truthfully, he couldn't think of anything else to ask!

"You can ask them some other time!" Aislin retorted and walked over to her satchel and grabbed it. She took their egg from Saber and stashed it safely in the carrier. Then she suddenly grabbed Saber's horn as he tried to slink behind Raev. Saber yelped as she dragged him along with Blade following close behind.

"Not inside our den, please!" Raev said worriedly.

"We're not!" Aislin assured.

"See ya later!" Blade shouted happily as he pranced around behind them. Koru, Raev, and Ahk all said their farewells as Saber, Aislin, and Blade stepped out into the brisk, cold air. The sunlight greeted them with its warm rays as it was beginning to descend behind the mountain.
