Night Two: Truth, Part Two

Benji smiled as he was locked in a room with his current arch nemesis, Koji the time traveling shark who created his universe. His mind palace was a place of complete peace and he could live thousands of years in his head working plans or talking to people in the span of one second. He wasted no time standing up and as he walked forward, Koji stood still.

Koji didn't flinch, he didn't even move. Benji was pondered about why the shark wasn't moving. He definitely remembered to invite Koji into his mind, and he could feel the shark's mind at work as he tried to speak. Koji was maybe scanning his mind; was he rummaging through his memory, finding information about him.

"Come now, this is an occasion before I've only simulated opponents. You are the first person that was ever inside my mind; consider yourself lucky." Benji said trying to get the shark to react. He walked forward with his hands folded behind his back and continued circling Koji as he tried to spark a reaction from the shark; he wanted something from the shark.

"No, nothing; why are you silent!" Benji asked as he turned towards Koji, he expected the shark to crack a cruel smile, or something to taunt him. He walked back and scanned the shark. No atom could be completely still; it was impossible unless his mind palace worked at absolute zero. Then again as it seemed that his mind universe didn't follow the rules of the normal universe.

"What are you rummaging through the bargain bin of my mind; you will love what you find trust me. A universe full of secrets and horror, but aren't you better than that?" Benji asked as he continued to circle around Koji and put his hand on the shark's face, it felt cold and frozen. He shivered as he pulled his hand back and could only really wonder what that meant.

"I've heard universes of stories about you; how you've stopped the multiple perverted gangs of Las Vegas, all your victories and failures of all universes. Nick Ruby; the Multiforms and the Beast of Shadows; Defeating Bright in a Nuclear Meltdown and exploring the North Pole; Defeating Noon and Afternoon of the Kagen Clan, escaping the Kagen Prison! Teleporting between the Kagen Universe and Earth without a teleport device; tell me something!" Benji said as he laughed a bit. "I'm becoming your own hype man."

"Ah you've heard of other universes."

Benji stopped as he heard another voice; he turned towards Koji and the shark was awake. Koji took the effort and turned towards him as well. They both smiled at each other and shook hands. After reintroducing each other they waited for a second waiting for the other to say something and start the other conversation again.

"Most have heard of the Bright Universe, you were a cyborg in that one. Then again everyone else acted like one, the Nuclear Plant; Nick Ruby, the rise of the Shargon, I've heard all of it." Benji said as he laughed a bit and the two sharked a subtle moment.

"Ah you've heard about the multiform dimension as well; I hated that universe; we went back further in that unfortunately the parasite was in one of our food and we left it in. It was horrifying what we made; nothing ever happened and everyone was miserable. Not many people have heard about it." Koji said as he walked away and put himself and Benji in some sort of reasonable distance from each other.

"Well then, I suppose to understand why I attacked you and why we are here we should start back at the beginning. I have the two Earths stuck in one universe, universe. You might have heard of us we're a big deal."

"No, sorry about that your universe kind of sunk after we exited we didn't know where you went and the entire universe disappeared; but we're glad we at least made a good universe so tell me what happened in this universe?" Koji asked as he laughed a bit. Benji reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone.

"Well my universe was a bit interesting; the Kagen Universe collapsed and all the Kagens died, and really died. Bright's soul traveled through hell basically and I was born of it. The devil chose me and I am immortal; at least I hope that I am in this universe." Benji said to the apprehensiveness of Koji. Benji laughed and put up a picture of him and the devil in hell. "It's okay, I don't except everyone to believe me, but the Devil is a better guy than Christian mythology states him to be."

"Well then this is Martin Byrn; I'll say he's the nicest person I've ever known but mostly likely only to me really. No one ever treated me like he did, no one ever understood me like he did." Benji said smiling as he showed Koji a picture of him and Martin together. Koji smiled as he took a look at the shark and the lizard together. "It was all good until my boss Eliot was threatened by the most powerful demon Greg, not really threatening when you think about it."

"And what happened; why did this happen?" Koji asked as he tried to understand what was happening and why these people were attacking him.

"Well we're all after one big bag of serious pocket cash and I went a bit out of control. All of it went wrong; Elliot was taken by Greg and she took me, Martin and Alex. She trapped us and in my weakest moment killed Martin and me. I've forgiven her but I still threat her like crap." Koji said as he remembered Martin's words to him as they spoke in hell.

...

"_Don't we all sometimes, yet my death is a massive pimple on time's face. There is no way you could pop that without someone noticing, and even so why not just give me immortality?" Martin said smiling, knowing he was forcing Benji to challenge his ideas and decide if he was really right. _

"Because you said not to reduce your death, if you were brought back to life..." Benji said as he tried to explain to Martin his own reasoning for not agreeing with the age of immortality. "Because it would have lessened your death, you would have not had that last moment, I would have taken that away from you."

_"But doesn't this as well, you're talking here to me. And it's like I've barely died, you could visit me whenever you want, I don't expect you to do so often but if you miss me you can always come here and say hi." Martin agreed as he validated another point, that in the long wrong his death wouldn't even matter. _

"Because, I am the Harbinger of Death, I have control of my life and death and while it might end today, I still view my own condition as wrong. Every single second, I can't bear to imagine the future of my never ending life." Benji said as Martin managed to sort out his reasoning and his condition, and what was pushing him into the future or lack there off.

...

"I tried to blame someone; I guess you were the easiest to blame. You've lost people too. " Benji said as he smiled and formed two chairs, him and Koji sitting down.

"We all go through loss and it's natural to lash out to want to go back and change something; make the future better and hope that we can save them. Molly's death was horrible and he saw her every night; he tried to change it but it always went out the same way.

...

"Molly, I will try to save you." Koji whispered to himself as he tried to figure out a way to separate Afternoon from Molly as they fused into one, Molly's were body turning more grotesque fur falling out and burnt skin appeared as their psychic forms merged into one.

Time froze again reacting to Koji and this time the shark was prepared for it and turned to the left to see Molly standing before him in a beautiful red and white dress with feathers attached. She looked at herself in the real world and said nothing as she shook her head in shame.

"I'm sorry Koji, this was never supposed to happen, my death was supposed to be by Afternoon's doing not yours. I was supposed to fuel your revenge for Afternoon, but I suppose this is faith, this is Afternoon's middle finger." Molly said as she put her hand on Koji's shoulder, rubbing it as she tried to comfort him. Koji looked genuinely sad as he knew that destiny was slowly giving him its own middle finger. He looked around and knew that it would be Molly that would be dying today. He looked at her and she looked and smiled at him.

'Don't feel bad Koji, don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." Molly said as she gave him a look of admiration and hugged him. "I trust you and you know what to do; goodbye" Molly said as she disappeared and time unfroze. Koji's eyes teared as he realized that he had to end it now.

"And now I shall kill you, for you Afternoon is a menace to this planet." Koji said as he walked forward in a monotone voice he looked emotional tired and defeated. Koji walked forward and placed his hands on the morphing Afternoon. Jackson and Twilight looked shocked while Koji shocked Afternoon/Molly.

...

"Every single moment of that I see, I view her body getting shocked by my own hands and by my now energy in my mind. Jackson, our leader and our Werecrocodile's boyfriend, he was taken by the remnants of Nick Ruby's gang and we need to find him. Every second he is gone, the more I fear that they might do to him."

"Interesting; Twilight was a Kagen and Eric was transformed by a Kagen; who's the dragon?" Benji asked trying to get himself caught up on Koji's team.

"Nikolai, we don't know who he is. We first met him on a gravitationally bound asteroid and he revealed some sort of Kagen like powers." Koji asked as he tried to explain something he knew so little about, he didn't know really how to go with it. "I think we should go now."

...

"So you're my brother, what's with the hair and the hippie outfit?" Twilight asked as he and his alternate universe brother spoke over two cups of coffee. The world was frozen around them; just as he felt something happening with in the new shark's brain. Alex, Elliot, Isen and Blake all stood frozen while outside, the Outsiders of this universe were moving in on the location.

"Well you know. THC slows down the brain. Keeps the ego and the megalomania at bay; makes me a bit more dealable." Bright said smiling feeling that he finally found a kindred spirt in his brother that he could relate to. The two smiled as they sipped their hot coffee and enjoyed the rush of Caffeine on their bodies. "These universes are so similar and so different still, your body I can hear it."

"You have one heart, and I have two; in your universe Kagen leaders are made up of two people; a bit like that fancy trick the Riftwalkers can pull off, but I should wait you don't know about them yet." Bright said as he took another sip of his coffee hoping that he hadn't spoiled to much already. "Just don't tell the other Kagens. Drakes in this universe, Dragons in other; I can think of so many examples."

"Yes, speaking of them we haven't seen them in a while; I assume that you were from one of the other universes I made." Twilight asked as he took a sip of coffee and looked at Bright. Bright shook his head and took another sip, before pouring another cup for himself.

"Well then I'm glad, I've seen a lot of Bright's and not all of them have gone down easy for example in this universe; well you'll find out later. Either way we can't keep the other's frozen for a while." Twilight said as he and his brother from another universe agreed; both swallowing down their coffee. Standing up they walked back up to the main room and looked around.

Both Twilight and Bright put their hands up and stopped the time freeze. Benji and Koji were knocked back from each other as they ended their mental talk. Isen and Blake held on to each other as they tumbled out of the portal and Elliot seemed to be the only one who made a good landing.

"Hands up!" A Russian voice cried as the dragon known as Nikolai knocked down the door and entered with Eric behind him both of them with raised guns pointed towards them. Seeing the strange group of events, including the two being knocked away, the drilled and knocked down desk, they took a second to look at each other.

"Don't worry you two we only got off to a set of wrong feet; put the guns down, don't even think of transforming." Koji said as he calm the two in front of him and showed a surprising amount of leadership to Benji and Elliot. Eric and Nikolai put their weapons back in their holsters and took a look at strangers in the base.

"And who are these people invading our base?" Nikolai said making sure his large draconic wings were displayed; something he thought would be a show of power but Dragons were all too common in other universes.

"They're only concerned citizens from another universe; we're only conversing with them and catching up; please do join us." Twilight said as he and Bright put their hands down and joined the group in their conversation. Eric and Nikolai looked at each with a confused look as they walked forward and joined.

"Do you think we can shift here?" Elliot asked Isen as she pulled out her phone out and looked at it. Pushing the shift button the phone only glowed for a second and instead a crackle of sparks was released and they were still stuck in the universe. Elliot looked at her phone and Isen shrugged his shoulders.

"Something is different in this universe; they don't have two universes to shift here or maybe our technology is in compatible." Isen said as he turned his phone over and looked at the shifting beacon. Shaking the phone, he made sure that the phone was still working. It was picking up a signal and hacking into wireless data network. "We're in Las Vegas and in the early 21stCentury."

"Your universe; it's different from ours; how many fractions are fighting in your hometown." Nikolai said as he came up and presented himself to the alternate Universe Outsiders. Isen smiled and looked at Blake as they saw the Outsiders integrate with each other.

"If you were to ask Benji he'd say the Outsiders, Demons, BOO and himself but ask us and we'd say that there are about ten to fifteen fractions that intermingle and fight on a daily basis." Blake said as he recalled a few of the horrors that he faced on a daily basis. "So many to deal with and so many you want to just inflict radiation on; we have to hold ourselves back."

"That many we only have to deal with the Kagens and Ruby's Gang; after we dealt with Afternoon and Jackson was kidnapped well after that no one popped up; we only patrolled. Right now we're trying to find who created me." Nikolai said to Blake and Isen as they looked at each other.

"Can we stay here for a long time?" Isen said as he leaned into Blake and the two started to hug each other. Nikolai smiled as he saw the two snuggle on the metal pillar. He looked at Elliot, he tried to get into her mind; take a tiny peer inside and see what see was thinking. He felt guilt but then he felt he door reversed and she entered his mind.

"Ha, don't even think of entering my mind; empathy is my specialty. A door opened can be walked back through and you have quite the interesting mind set, like a game from David Cage; a whole lot interesting points but no way to connect them." Elliot said as she scanned through Nikolai's mind frightening the dragon.

"So many universes, so many possibilities; why are you and will anyone else be coming?" Eric asked as he stood out from the crowd and decided to make his point noticed. Everyone turned towards him and Benji led the conversation as he spoke up.

"Very good point werecrocodile, we are here because you're universe alerting hijinks have gotten a bit out of hand." Benji said as he looked over at Twilight and Koji; smiling as the two looked at each other. "While you two creating my universe is now quite appreciated, sorry about that angst a little while ago, as it seems all of it has led to a universe of bad Outsiders."

"What, no who were a part of it?" Twilight said bursting out.

"Everyone; all of you were a part of it and Molly and Jackson." Bright added

"No that can't be, we only did interesting timeline changes; your universe, a universe without Kagens and few other alterations that we thought would make for a better universe." Koji responded. "Unless, the one where we changed Molly's death."

"She lived and Afternoon infected the team." Twilight said quickly theorized.

"Wait you guys have been traveling through time and you didn't invite me." Eric said sounding insulted. Twilight groaned and looked over to him. "Right, someone needs to stay here, too many people too much energy will be used."

"Ok, let's get serious how did you travel through universes, the only way to do so is destroying the universe through a self -destructive act that gives you enough energy to penetrate the universal walls?" Twilight asked as he tried to figure out the one fact he couldn't piece together in his own mind, something seemed different with his brother not with him being somewhat sane or looking like a hippy but he felt different, he had a different aura.

"I'm not sure myself; however I did travel through universes before. In my original universe I was blasted out by a nuclear blast; and landed in his universe I was entrapped by a cannibalistic collector and when Koji was trapped he let me escape." Bright said as he recalled his times before finding Koji and finding his own inner peace. Koji looked back to that time and remembered what Bright was taking about.

"Interesting, maybe the stuff between the universes allows you to better penetrate it; maybe you can just inertly travel between the universes with modified Kagen powers." Twilight said as he tried to hypothesize a solution to Bright's peculiar powers, maybe it had to do with his origin story or maybe it had to do with the Kagens where he came from.

"No, that can't be it." Elliot said as she stepped forward, Benji giving her a glance as he tried to figure out what she was doing with her own ideas. "We came here because someone also traveled through the universes, a group, a collection of Dark Outsiders. From the way they talked it sounded like it wasn't their first time breaching the universes as well."

"She's right, but then that means it doesn't have to do with the Kagens, or maybe it does maybe the Dark Twilight can travel through universes like you; but then again Bright only discovered his powers." Isen said as he added to the conversation trying to help them knock down candidates for the reason of the universe hoping.

"No, if there was ever a group of Kagens that had the ability to travel through the universes we would know, there egos are far too big and they are far too much of psychopaths not to use that power." Eric said as he suddenly got glances from Twilight and Bright, he shivered realizing that he might had uses some words wrongly. "Well at least Bright would know that he had the universe hopping powers"

"He's right, I would have at least known to hop through universes and hoping through universes kind of negates being trapped by a dimensional barrier, so maybe the nuclear blast changed my DNA, maybe I can hope universes but not dimensions?" Bright said as he tried to come up with another idea.

"No, DNA doesn't work that way and still that doesn't explain the Dark Outsiders and their universe hoping." Koji added in as he got a grasp of the situation at hand. Twilight took a seat and Koji noticed, both of their face's frowned as they sat down and looked at each other. Twilight rolled his head around and Koji snapped his knuckles.

"No, their only one way you're all getting through a universe without burning that universe; it's simple the walls between universes have gotten so small that we can get through them with relative ease. The Kagens in all the universe can't access them because they're trapped in the home dimension and that would explain the Dark Outsiders." Twilight said as he exited a form of deep thought. Everyone looked apprehensive as they tried to grasp the scale the science of what he was saying.

"So their less padding between the universes, and less energy is needed to break through the padding is what you're saying simply." Nikolai said as everyone took a breath of relief and realized what Twilight was taking about. They walked over to the desk and all leaned, still wondering what that could mean for them.

"Well, then that would mean a few things; what happens if the universes run out of their wall padding?" Eric asked pondering an idea. Were they in mortal danger, in horrible danger of having all the universes combine into a demented collection of dimensions all floating around the cosmic liquid. He leaned back against the desk and wondered what they could do.

"Probably not, we'll just reach a point when all of the padding is teared off as the padding is generated by the universe, what do you think entropy is? It's simply the universe taking energy to protect itself from mixing; however that means that for some reason universes are living longer; generating less entropy or some combination that the walls are being worn away." Twilight said putting up some ideas.

"Well best not tell that to the Kagens, we still have no idea how much they're going to be able to get through; if they find they can warp from universe to universe then we might have a universal problem on our hands." Koji said as he walked over to Benji and tried to see what was happening in his mind. Benji tried back, entering his mind palace.

...

"So then, we're back here already; do you have some sort of paranoid worry that someone will spy on us; then again with all the recording stations Nick Ruby had put around this town, it's better to be safe than sorry." Koji said as he laughed a bit with Benji.

"Well I need to ask you something, do you think something is happening that we were pulled together, I like to think a bit highly about my universe and if this is the source universe well nowhere more important than here." Benji said as he pondered the question of the day, why were they together.

"Well isn't that just an idea, you think some sort of cosmic forces are pulling us together, wouldn't that be neat. So ask yourself one question why did you come here?" Koji said as he himself started to wonder what was happening, it did seem all too much of a coincidence that some of the most important universes were coming together.

"I don't know, I thought I might get revenge. However, that still seems unlikely, in a rage it seems like me but I don't know; maybe the universe needs us together. Maybe this universe wants us together; maybe I thought that I could find a way to bring Martin back or make you make a universe where he was still living." Benji said as he faced the ground and shifted his feet.

"Maybe, maybe not; but something doesn't feel right. Something feels forced, like we're being pushed together. Either way, we need to stay valiant be careful make sure we're not going to turn on each other."

...

"Benji stop feeling bad for yourself over Martin's death it was no one's fault." Alex said as the mind palace collapsed and placed them back into the real world. Alex walked up to Benji and gave him that look as Alex's hand glowed. "Oh don't worry, I can tell your brain functioning in your mind palace, brain waves."

"What the hell!" Bright called out as he shook, everyone turned towards him and Twilight started to shake as well. The building shook and everyone was knocked to the floor. Eric quickly stood up and looked out of the window; Eric shook and backed up looking in fear.

"Oh god, oh god that's improbable, they've sensed your entrance you dirty Kagen and they found a way out." Eric said as he turned away from the window, the shades letting in a horrible red light and reflecting in his eyes.

"What the hell is happening?" Koji asked as he stood up, leaning against he tried to view outside the window but Eric blocked the view.

"Las Vegas is burning." Eric said as he slid down the wall, his mouth hanging open in pure disbelief. Koji looked out the window, as raging walls of fire and explosions ran up through streets of the city and burned themselves into their mind. Koji backed up and looked at the group, what would he tell them what would they do could they combat the Kagen threat. "They've returned. And its your fault."

Koji turned towards Benji, a wind blowing over the "battlefield" as the two turned towards each other. Both of their faces and they soured. Koji realized that Bright's entrance into their world had sent their own Kagens into battle mode somehow they had come to their world and Koji and his world had to deal with what would happen. Benji stood silent.

"Outsiders, knock, knock, knock; it's Dawn; and I'd like to speak with you." A voice calling out from the door said as it banged against it.

"They've come for me, I'm not safe!" Bright exuberantly said as his hands started to glow. Everyone turned towards the shark and quickly he glowed. Everything warped around him and he disappeared. Benji and Koji ran at each other grabbing each other and pushing each other as they ran for each other's throats.

Bright disappeared a wave in space appearing and dragging in everyone that surrounded him. And with that they disappeared and Alex, Blake, Elliot and Nikolai all remained alone with Dawn outside the door.
