After what seemed like only seconds of driving, they had arrived at the mall with a heavy slam as Scott hit the breaks, making everything in the van fly forwards. But although the trip there hadn't taken very long, the time spent trying to find a parking space dragged on for what felt like days. "Ohh, screw them, just park in the handicapped section?" Tom said thinking that it would be a good idea. "And you're going to fake being handicapped so we don't look like were just taking a space preserved for people who are Actually Handicapped, huh?" "No? Why would I?" "So I don't get in trouble for it? That's why?" "Well if you care so much about it then why don't you fake being handicapped?" "Because I'm the Driver? Handicapped people don't drive? Do they?" Scott was beginning to feel confused at this point, thinking about what he'd just asked. "Who cares? It's not like anyone's going to notice that we parked here? And it's a van? So people won't suspect that no-one in it isn't handicapped?" "Guy's? There's a space over there...... Just so you know." "There we are, well spotted...... uhh? What was his name again?" "JAMES!!!!!" They both shouted simultaneously "Right, right. Well, here we are then." Scott said still thinking about the handicapped thing. After a few moments of silence, Scott turned around and noticed both James and his brother Tom were still in the back sitting there looking at him, He was beginning to get annoyed at the two still sitting in the back of his van. "When I say... Well, here we are' that's probably your cue to, well, I dunno? Maybe...... GET OUT!?" Scott shouting with a slightly annoyed tone. "Ohh, you want us to get out? Ohh ok, see you later." Tom said with a smile on his muzzle like always. "Uhh, yea... whatever?" Scott said with a look of confusion on his face before he started the van again and left. "Wait, if he's leaving, then why did we drag him around till we could find a space?" James asked, wondering what the point of it was. "Well, if I get him going in circles it gets his mind off of everything else and concentrating on looking for a space. So we get out and walk off and he doesn't get paid, I'm hoping he'll have forgotten by the time we get him to pick us up." "Clever" James said, not wanting to delay going into the huge building stood before them, as it looked amazing. The outside was an interesting design and shape. It was mostly white concrete white with tiles of metal covering it and the rest was grey or had a sign or some sort of advertisement on it. There were silver and grey bits of metal held over the roof's edge with giant suspension cables. On the front was a huge red neon sign which read The Wittington Center. It hung just in front of the entrance, which was a huge section of glass windows fitted together to make a wall. "Wow, look's amazing doesn't it?" "Yea...." James had never seen something that looked so immaculate; there wasn't a slight detail out of proportion within the building's features. "Shall we keep staring at it for the rest of the day or do you actually want to go in?" Tom said, getting slightly anxious to search through out the entire shopping center until he found anything of interest. After a hearing that Tom couldn't take much more of the waiting, the two furs went inside. After getting situated inside the huge building, wondering where they should go next, they walked over to the map placed next to a service desk by the entrance. "So...... Brand new mall, never been seen by either of us? What do you want to see first?" Tom asked waiting for James to pick out one of the many shops from the list. "I have no idea? Do they have a music store in here?" James asked. "Yes, it's on the second floor on the left side of the building, called Era-Music." The leopard behind the service desk said over hearing there conversation. "Ohh, thank you miss" James said politely before dragging Tom off the chair he was in and up stairs to the music shop. "Wow, this place has everything?" James couldn't believe how big the shop was just on it's own. With guitars on the left side and Cd's on the right. Everything else was placed at the back or most likely had to be ordered in or imported. "Hello there, are you looking for anything in particular? Or are you just browsing?" the shop keeper asked, it was another wolf like James, silver and grey all over with jeans on and what looked like a suede vest. He also had a necklace that looked like it was from the 60's? "I'm just having a look around thanks." James said back to him "Well, feel free to look around and if you like you may pick up some of the guitars, but if you break it..." "You buy it, I've heard that before." James said with a giggle after finishing off the shop keepers sentence. After a while spent looking around the store and checking out some of the things on display James finally found a Guitar that just couldn't resist picking up, mostly because it was well worth picking up. "Ahh, that's the guitar that I used to play, but I've decided to sell it on now, as I've stopped playing...... well actually I just can't, not after the road accident I was in, because I'm kinda missing two fingers." The shop keeper said to James. "Would you like to Give it a test?" he asked. "Well, I don't think..." "Go on James if you don't give it a try then I will, it's free right?" Tom asked smiling at the shop keeper. "Haha, of course it is, he plug that in there......" The wolf handed James the other end of the amp lead which was hooked up to one of his best amps with in the whole shop. Once the volume was on he decided to give it a test strum. "Whoa, give me that, this thing's out of tune." The wolf exclaimed. After a brief moment of tuning the guitar he handed it back to James. "There, all tuned, but I can't play it, so I guess you'll have to." He said looking down at him as he placed the strap over his shoulder. "Well, let's hear what you can do then?" The wolf said with a chuckle as his suspicions thought that James didn't know how to play. After hearing him laugh James began smiling. He looked down at the guitar and began to play one of the solo's he learnt from a while back. It wasn't long before it was over and when he looked up again he noticed that both the Wolf and Tom were looking at him with there muzzles hanging wide open. "What?" "Holy...... how do you know how to play guitar like that?" Tom asked. "Well I learnt how to play when I was only 10, so I've known or a while now, you like it?" James said thinking he had never mentioned to Tom he played guitar before. "Yea, it was great. But I have a confection to make." Tom said as he took the guitar from James paws. "You're Amazing at guitar, But not half as Amazing as I am." Tom said finishing off with a solo of his own that was starting to leave the shop keeper in tears. Once he was finished he unplugged the guitar and placed it back where James picked it up from. "Ohh my god that was Insane!!!!" James was looking at Tom with a huge smile on his face that was almost screaming out to him (I Am You're Biggest Fan) "Well thank you, I'm in a band, and I was wondering...... would you like to, you know, we kinda need a rhythm guitarist." Tom said blushing slightly at the thought of being able to see James as much as he wanted when they were doing gigs or practicing. "Really? You... you want me?" James asked not believing his luck. After seeing Tom nod he reached out and shook his paw agreeing to play rhythm for Tom's band. "Hey, do you want to go get lunch now?" Tom asked. "Sure" And with thoughts of playing guitar for Tom's band he was running out of space for what could make the day be any better. But after hearing Tom ask if he wanted to get something to eat, he instantly thought (It's Better) "Come back anytime" the shop keeper said as they were leaving, giving them a look on his face which was almost un-happy to watch them walk away. "Yea, thanks for letting me have ago on you're old guitar." James said to him as they had walked out the door. It was about 2:00pm as the two furs walked into a cafe that was on the second floor by the entrance which gave a view over the car park and off into the distance. After ordering what they wanted and getting there food they sat down at table by the window. "So, what's you're band called then?" James asked eager to find out more about the band. "Well..... We haven't got a name down at this point of time, so, were just open to suggestions" "Well, if you want, I've got a good name in mind, and you just said it a second ago?" James said, thinking that it would be a fairly good name. "What? What name?" Tom asked wanting to hear James's suggestion. "Well, it's a good name, but that depends on what style of music you play?" "Modern rock." "That's perfect...... The name I thought of was ‘This Point In Time' Do you like it?" James asked worried that Tom might not like the name. "Man, that's perfect, how did I miss such a name?" Tom thought out loud. "Well, I think you should ask everyone else in the band first before we make that the name, you know. Have a vote." "Yea, We will ask and the have a vote." Tom got out with one last grin before one of the waitress brought over two drinks and s light snack for both of them to enjoy. As the time passed they were talking a lot among various things, but kept side tracking off when ever someone asked about them self. It was now 5:45pm, and they had almost finished looking around, as the majority of shops in the mall, were for females. But that didn't really seem to bother either of them, well, as long as there were a few shops for them, they'd be perfectly happy. "Wow, I didn't think we could see the entire mall in just about? Actually, what time did we get here?" James asked. "We got here at about 12:30." "Then, it only took us...... a fairly short time to see the mall." "Hmm, that's funny, for a moment there I thought you were actually going to work out how long we had been here?" "Aww, come on, I'm not that bored with you?" James said smiling. "In-fact I don't think I'd be having a better time anywhere else." Tom was beginning to blush a little, hearing James say that he wouldn't be happier anywhere else. But this brought up another question. Did he say he wouldn't be having a better time anywhere else because he was at the new mall? Or because he was with Tom? Tom wanted to believe it was the second one of those choices. But in his mind right at that point, he was seriously beginning to doubt it. On the way the way out of the building they picked up a poster from the pile on the floor where there was a fur standing next to them handing some out. James was reading it on the way out, heading towards the car park. "Hey look, there's a fireworks display on tonight at...... where's that?" he said pointing to the name on the poster. "Ohh, just ignore that, it's a typo on the poster, it should say Lakeside Campus." Tom said, pointed out to the missing L on the poster where the printer clashed the colours over it. "Ohh, guess you knew because you live around here, right?" James grinning as he looked at Tom. "Nope, I knew because I plan on going to watch it, Hey, you should come." Tom got out immediately, seriously wanting his new friend to go with him to watch the fireworks. "Well, I'm not sure; my dad might get mad if I stay out late. But it is the summer holidays and he is barely around to notice that I'm missing anyway. So yea, I will go with you." James said to him, smiling as he did. "But, that isn't till about 8:00? So what do we do before then?" "Well, it's about a 30 minute drive out to the campus area, so that'll take up some time, not to mention we have to wait for Scott to get back here with the van, that will be...... well actually that won't take long at all to be honest" Tom laughing at the sarcasm. "Yea, I almost broke my neck when he slammed on the breaks today when we got here" "Yea, he's a rough driver, but it beats an hour and 15 minute walk right?" "I suppose, I'm not really in the mood to walk all that way just to see the fire works, but a lift there? That'll do just fine" James casually smiling as they walked. The two furs kept walking towards the back area of the car park keeping to the side, out of the way of cars. On there way all James had on his mind was thoughts about going to watch the fireworks, and if anyone he'd met yesterday would be there. "Right, well we can sit on the grassed hill over there till Scott get's here." Tom said quickly running up the small hill to sit near the top, over looking the car park. After quickly chasing after him James had got to the top and was about to take a seat next to him until he saw that Tom had got up and started running back down the hill again. After thinking about where he was going he saw Scott and the van pull across and Tom climb in quickly edging on to James to hurry up. Once both furs were in the van and had there seat belts on, Scott made way for the Lakeside Campus area. The drive was steadily smooth to the Lakeside Campus area as they were going along the highway at....... Well a very fast speed. This gave James plenty of time to not sit back and admire the open plains of grass but instead cower in fear of crashing practically holding onto Tom as they went, not that Tom was really complaining. "Err...... do we have to go this fast, we have plenty of time to get there?" James spoke up slightly nervous, which wasn't surprising as Scott wasn't exactly the best driver in the world. "Relax; Scott's a, well fairly safe driver." Tom Said aloud. Before James quickly reached and grabbed onto hug Tom as they hit a bump in the road and the van shook from the speed and force of the hit. "You can let go now?" Tom said with a slightly stern voice, not wanting to be touched in front of his older brother. Scott had once taught him to only let girls cling on to you like that. But seeing as how Scott was Gay, this seemed a bit hypocritical now. Although Scott didn't know that Tom was also gay, so he'd probably best just try to act straight in front of him for now. "Sorry" James instantly let go of him and leaned back over to his seat thinking from that, there's no way that Tom could possibably be gay. And with a hefty sigh of disappointment he continued daydreaming about it all. "Hey, you look upset, is something wrong?" Tom asked, feeling concerned for the wolf slumped down next to him. "Yea, he just wanted to hug you........" Scott said in a very childishly mocking tone trying to be funny. "Hey! Shut It Scott!" Tom shouted "stupid little...." Tom trailed off beginning to mumble something under his breath before turning back to face James, who was now looking even worse than before. He was about to ask him about what was wrong, but was stopped by James as he noticed James had already began to speak. "Don't worry about me, I'll be ok, I've just got a small migraine, it'll go away." "Well if you're sure?" "Hey Lovebird's, There's Smoke up ahead." Scott Blurted aloud. "Shut Up, and what's the smoke for?" Tom asked, slightly irritated at Scott from what he said. "Well, it means that either the campus is on fire again or there having a Killer Barbecue!!!!!!!" Scott shouted before slamming his foot down and pulling off onto the dirt track road which had an old wooden sign up which read ‘Lakeside and Campus' After pulling into the car park and getting out, the three of them got out and began walking towards the sight of smoke and the smell of freshly grilled meat. Walking across the wooden bridge and then up over the huge hillside which overlooked the entire lake, campus area and a bit further into the distance, they looked down to see nothing but fur's standing in crowd's everywhere. There were about 6 to 8 burger, chicken or kebab shacks and mini vans parked on the other side of the hill with a few open lit barbecues' and plenty of space to wander. Food was going like crazy and practically everyone was eating something. After a moment of silence and staring they decided to go join in with the rest and get some food. Before heading down the two furs looked left and right before spotting Scott running off the bottom of the hill and into the crowd of furs below, not wanting to stand there watching everyone else eat all the food. Looking back at each other they both shrugged their shoulders and quickly made there way down and off the steep step at the bottom of the big hill, then into the crowd together. "Mmmm...... Smell's great doesn't it James?" Tom said with a chuckle at the expression on his face. The wolf was practically drooling where he stood looking at all the different types of meat he could buy. Luckily they still had quite a bit of money left from going to the mall, so they found somewhere they wanted to eat and stood in the queue waiting to order. Once they had ordered the food, been given it and paid, they immediately took off with it. Making there way out of the large group of furs that had gathered to watch the fireworks, and heading back towards the big hill again. After getting past the heavily crowed areas and groups of furs standing about, they finally made it to the hillside. And leaving the area, climbing back up the top of the big hill, they slumped down together ready to enjoy their meals. It was a while until they finished, taking their time as they ate their food on top of the hillside looking over the lake watching the sun as it set in the distance. Soon after the sun was out of sight, Tom had just finished the last mouthful of the burger he was eating. And licking his lips he gulped the chunk of meat down his throat, letting out a sigh of satisfaction once he'd finished. "Did you enjoy that then?" James said with a slight girlish giggle as he looked at Tom who was just about ready to collapse onto his side being full to the brim. "Yes, yes I did enjoy that thanks." Tom just shot him a toothy grin as he looked back at James. "Ohh look, the fireworks are starting." James said looking out towards the lake where you could see the final preparations for the fireworks to be set. "Finally, this is going to be so exciting!" Tom could barely contain himself with the amount of patience he has. The firework display began with an intense amount of structure from the fireworks as they lit up the night sky with a bang. Watching them go off in sets of threes and fours in a great mixture of colours was outstanding. But together they both thought that the best part about watching the fireworks, is watching them together with the one you love, even if they didn't see it at first. Looking into each others eyes the two furs began to feel heat and tension rise as their hearts raced together at the sight of each other staring to one another. Tom looked away with a blush thinking about his feelings again only to feel James paw reach over and gently pull his muzzle around to face him once more. Smiling, he moved towards him slowly, reaching down holding Tom's hand in his own. And with a sudden movement James pounced on top of him and pulled him into a deep and passionate kiss as their muzzles locked together. Holding each other close they broke the kiss and lay together cuddling. And looking up towards the sky they both saw a Huge luminous green explosion as the final firework lit up the sky ending the display. And from this moment onwards, they knew their lives would change. End. * * *
