So we went to Ian's friend's house, that Daniel kid. I had a bad feeling about this, but if it would keep us safe and prevent us from getting caught, then so be it. And Ian trusts him, so I should too, but I still have a feeling that something is off.

Ian went up and knocked on the door. I could smell marijuana coming from the other side of the door, and a movie playing behind the door with tires screeching and gunshots ringing. I head footsteps approach the door, and someone on the other side with a deep, yet jaunty tone asking who it was. Ian told Daniel that it was him, and Daniel came out and embraced Ian, and the two of them started talking. Daniel was a large raccoon, at least six foot one and two hundred pounds, but that weight was more muscle than fat. I stood close to Ian while Daniel ruffled his hair. The guy seemed nice enough, at least not threatening, but that changed soon afterward.

"Thanks man. You wouldn't happen to know a place we could stay at would you?" Ian asked.

"Well I do know some empty apartments that have electricity and running water in them, but they have no furniture in them, but it's gonna cost ya," Daniel said, grinning lustfully.

"Cost us what?" I asked suspiciously.

"Well ever since I met Ian I've always wanted to hit that pink ass, and I haven't been laid in forever, so I just crave it even more. Do that and we have a deal."

"What? No!" Ian and I protested in unison and I got in front of Ian, protecting him.

"Well then, let me if you change your mind, until then, deal's off," Daniel concluded.

"I thought you were better than this," Ian sighed, shocked at what he said.

"You should know me Ianto; I get ass whenever I can, and I haven't gotten my dick wet in awhile. I knew this deal would get sour, but nothing like this. This prick knew that I was Ian's boyfriend, but that didn't matter, as long as he got inside of Ian that was all that mattered to him, no matter who got hurt. I grabbed Ian's hand and turned to go, but Ian forcibly shook his hand off of mine. I turned around and saw those beady red eyes staring at me with hatred. I stepped back as my heart skipped a beat, but then I regain myself and got into a fighting stance.

"Oh no you don't! You are not gonna use Ian's body to sleep with Daniel damnit!" I screamed with fury. He looked at me and busted out laughing, laughing so hard that tears were coming from Ian's eyes and he wiped them away.

"You, against me?" he mocked after he got himself together. "I'm sorry deary but you saw how it ended last time, and if I remember correctly, I was the one who kicked your ass. But by all means, if you want to try again, be my guest."

I hate him. I hate him for being in my mate's boyfriend's body. I hate him for tormenting my boyfriend. And I hate the very fact that he exists. He just stood there, off guard and uninterested in me, that I would be a worthy opponent against him, that I was too weak for him. I'll show him, that bastard. I rushed him, and he was still standing there, but when I began to swing my arm to punch him, he spread his legs, grabbed my arm, and flipped me over him to where I was on the ground in a chokehold. Merissa and Braxton were tense, but they knew they could do nothing to help me, and Daniel was surprised by the whole ordeal.

He leaned down next to my ear and told me in a low voice, "You know, I hate being called 'you' I mean come on, I have a name. Oh wait, I never told you. I'm James, it's a pleasure to meet you."

"James?" I croaked, confused.

"Yes, I have a name; it is my job to protect Ianto. You must understand that I love him," he said in twisted laugh, "and that I will do anything to protect him. Right now, you're standing in the way of him reaching a safe haven from the law enforcement."

"He's my boyfriend!" I hissed as I was struggling to breathe.

"You two won't make it. I can already see that right now. So why would I waste my time on pleasing you when it's my job to protect Ianto? He may hurt soon after I break you two up, but it's better in the long run. I'll be damned if some punk ass bastard hurts my brother."

"Brother?!" I gasped, but I could already feel the air leaving my lungs as he tightened his grip.

"Whoops, I said too much. Time to go sleep, but before you do, let me give you a goodnight kiss." He leaned down and kissed me square on the lips, tongue and everything. I bit his tongue, and he screamed in pain. He got his index and middle finger and dug them into my neck, and pain radiated throughout my body. My body was throbbing, and it felt like I was on fire. I couldn't breathe, and I saw black spots enter my vision until my vision started to go. The last thing I saw was James grabbing a hold of Daniel's arm and walking inside with him.

I heard constant screaming and crying, but it was unintelligible, muted. I felt someone banging my chest, but it was barely there. I was swimming through my subconscious, and I felt like I was just floating there like I was in the Dead Sea. I was looking up into the darkness, and I saw some memories of Ian and I, and all that came about was how I've let him down. Not being there when he came out to his parents, not being able to protect him when his dad came and got him, not saving him sooner when he was being tortured in his basement. Maybe this James personality was created to protect Ian because I couldn't. Maybe's right, maybe I don't deserve Ian.

I finally woke up a splash of water was thrown on my face. I got up, confused, and I wondered where I was at. My vision was a little blurry but I could still hear. I heard the end credits roll for the movie that was on earlier, and I heard Merissa and Braxton ask if I was alright. But I saw a pink blob come to me and caress me, and I heard Ian crying my name and saying how sorry he was. I laid my head on his chest while my vision was starting to come back, and I saw that Daniel was outside smoking a cigarette, not caring less about what happened. I hated him what he did to Ian, and he was going to pay.

I got up and I started to walk towards Daniel, but the ground felt unsteady, and my knees were wobbly, but I still kept doing until I was right behind the bastard. I swung at him, but I missed, and I was sent forward crashing into him and making him drop his cigarette. He turned around, obviously annoyed, but I didn't care, I hated him. I took another swing at him but he just stepped out of the way and picked up his cigarette.

"Ianto, control your boyfriend before I control him for you," Daniel commanded.

"Don't you talk to my boyfriend like that ya damn coon!" I screamed at him before throwing another punch aimed at his midsection, but he got behind me and pulled my hair and got all up in my face.

"You better be glad that you're Ian's boyfriend, or else I'd kick your ass right here, right now," he whispered in my ear before shoving me to the ground and turned to Ian. "Ian, take your mutt with you before I kick his ass!"

Ian glared at him for a moment, but he came and helped me up and took me to the jeep. We got to the car and I started throwing up; I felt like complete shit. After I was done vomiting Ian helped me into the backseat and sat with me while Merissa and Braxton sat up front. I laid my head on his lap, and he stroked my hair softly.

"He said it was the complex on highway 29 between the public library and Wal-Mart right?" Braxton asked.

"Yea, keep going straight and make a left on the second one you see; it's room number 303," Merissa answered.

We drove there, Braxton entered the security code to get in, and found a parking place outside of apartments 301-310. They all got out and grabbed our stuff and put it inside the apartment. Ian came back for me, but I kindly told him that I'd be fine, and that I wanted to stay outside and enjoy the air. He gave me a concerned look, but I smiled back at him, and he went inside. Just as he was going in Braxton was coming out. I gestured him to follow me, and we walked him silence to apartments 291-300. We stood outside of the building, and I was finally able to tell him what was troubling me.

"I don't know what that thing in Ian is," I began, "but he calls himself James, and he says that he's here to protect Ian from anytime of harm."

"Well it doesn't seem like he's keeping him from getting hurt. I mean he made Ian become the most wanted person in the state, and that thing is causing Ian heartache by dividing you two and committing acts you don't like in Ian's body," Braxton replied. "If anything he's hurting him more."

"Before I was knocked out James told me some things. That he is Ian's brother, and that he is purposefully trying to break us up. He said that I would hurt him in the future even more than Ian is hurting now, and that he'd rather break us up now because it'd be better in the long run. I would never hurt Ian! I love him too much!"

"I'm sure it's nothing. It's probably personality to defend Ian from anymore traumatic experiences after all he's gone through. I'm sure that this is nothing, and once we're safe, it'll go away. You two make a fine couple, and I don't see you ever hurting Ian."

"But what if he's right?" I questioned, doubting him. "What if I do hurt him in the near future? What if something happens and I can't protect him from it? I have already failed him so many times. While I was out I was going through all the flashbacks of where Ian needed help, but I couldn't give it to him. He needs someone stronger, who will always be there for him and help him when he needs it," I responded hollowly.

"There was nothing you could do then Avi, and at least you're here with him now, and that's all that counts. You two will get through this together, I promise. You just need to talk things out with him," Braxton said comfortingly.

"Maybe James is right...maybe I should just end it now before I hurt him even worse in the future..." I sighed.

Braxton was about to say something, but there was a nose coming from the bushes. We went to investigate it, and we saw Ian there, huddled up and crying softly to himself.
