The Condition to Live

Roland Generation Spoticus, a proud and dedicated scientist to his work in the name of science. Roland has won many awards for his talent and has achieved goals beyond that of a normal man. Considering his advanced mind, he always feels lacking in areas, as though something is missing in his life and in his well-being as a person. He would soon decide a time in the future to take a small vacation to clear his mind and thoughts. The tropical islands of Izana were the destination of choice, wasting no time to gather his things and fly out there as soon as possible. During his travels out to the far reaches of Izana, his vacation of sorts. He heads there to survey the new lands for materials and possibly new resources. During his small survey, he would pass a few plants and some interesting colored rocks on the way as he progressed. Some generated a faint amount of electrical energy while others appeared to spark life anew.

Moving onward to the edge of the forest, he manages to find something interesting near a small crater near the waterfall. It appears to be a small spill of oil, or what appears to look like oil. No, it couldn't, it was too thick and inconsistent to tell, thought it was far from what it appeared to be. Roland examines the black colored mess for a moment, attempting to collect as much of it as possible as he pulls a small shovel tool from his bag, scooping some of the mess into a small vial without touching it with his bare paw before storing it away into his bag along with the shovel tool as he sealed that tool in a sealed compartment. Taking a second look around the area, he found that the crater was also interesting. The shape and the size were too perfect in place as it left the surrounding trees and plant life unharmed. Was this a phenomenon? Or perhaps this was done intentionally. None the less, the spotted dog has no time to waste as there was a new task before him once he got back to the lab.

After a long week throughout the rough southern reaches of Izana, the spotted dog could not help himself as he would return to his lab to gathering his equipment along with his lab coat for his test to come. That vial of black liquid was on his mind. What was it? He would reach for his bag to grab the sealed vial with the black fluid along with the shovel tool, setting it on the table before him as he gazed upon it, pondering on what to do first. Before he could even begin, the alarm would sound. Roland would stop what he was doing as he would move over to check the cameras from his laptop, spotting nothing and no-one in sight. Was it a glitch? Impossible... Roland has perfected the security in all areas as there is no way that anyone can just slip in unnoticed. Roland would check the cameras once more time, as once again, there was nothing to be seen. Why did the alarm go off? Roland was not even sure himself, but as he would turn his head to move away from his laptop, there was a being standing before him. Roland jumped back as there was someone actually in his private lab, yet.

Given one good look, it was a wolf. He had pitch black fur and his eyes were empty with a white haze within them. What's more is that this male was completely nude. Roland was ready to pull out his gun that was strapped to his waist within his lab coat, but the wolf did not move. He only stood there, staring blankly at the spotted dog. " W-who are you? " Roland would say as he watched the wolf carefully. " You have no right being in here. You should leave now. " The spotted dog would say, yet the words did not reach the wolf all too well. The wolf took one step forward as he did not release as much of a huff, let alone if he was breathing or not. He would open his muzzle shortly after making his first movement, speaking the following. " Your desires are misplaced... " He would say as Roland could not help but tilt his head slightly in response. What did he mean by " desires misplaced "? Surely Roland has had some problems in the past, but what does that have to do with what was now? Roland dropped his guard for a moment to listen to what the male had to say, completely disregarding the fact that there was a naked wolf standing in his lab. " What do you want with me? And why are you n- " Before Roland had a chance to finish, the wolf would cut the spotted dog off with his own words. " Is this what you truly seek? " The wolf would say before shaking his head. " I been watching you long enough as your heart reaps for revenge, does it not? Maybe that accident made you forget over time. " The wolf would go on as he reads Roland inside out.

Roland would instantly retaliate, as anyone who knows of his past must be dealt with immediately. Roland would only look down for a moment to reach for his gun, only to look back up as the wolf standing directly in front of him. Roland had the gun half way out of his lab coat before he felt his arm being grabbed by the wolf. " Listen." The wolf would say as he held Rolands arm. " You don't have to follow this path, as something greater awaits. Your mind, your thoughts, everything within you resonates with us; A leader perfect for changing the face of this world. You're much more capable than you know, yet lacking without motivation. " Roland did not know what to do or say... Roland would calm himself as he releases his gun, putting it back in place as he stands firm before the male. " You know so much about me. Been watching me for a long time. How would one know my inner thoughts when you have yet to meet me. I can't say you're wrong within your words, yet why don't you start off by telling me who and what you are, then maybe I'll listen further"

The black furred wolf stood there with that blank expression, giving some thought on what to say and how to explain it. He would close his eyes for only a moment, only to open them back as his eyes locked with Rolands. " I'm the thoughts that resonate with one's mind on whoever sees me. But deep down... I'm a manifestation of one's deep desires of both truths and lies. You may call me, Maxwell. " Roland would tilt his head for a moment as he got a good look at the wolf. " Maxwell? " The spotted dog would speak softly as he rubbed his chin fur for a little as that name surely rings a bell. " Correct me if I'm wrong. You're a figment of my mind that is speaking to me with the thoughts and desires of my inner self. More than that, you picked the form and the name that matched the one I loved so long ago to speak with me like this. But that does not exactly explain who you are. Call this a hallucination, or some kind of mind game if you please. But what remains now is what is before me ". Roland would go on saying as he watched the male closely. " The only truth I wish to learn is what happened that day back in college. That explosion with the machine I've created. Make no mistake. I ran it multiple times before I brought it into class. That same explosion got me in the hospital for 3 whole months. And Lemuar did not make it. Knowing you, you've known this for a while. But the real question is, why? I'm aware it did not simply overload. But I feel it was tampered with and I can't prove it. Sure, it was a few years ago, but I wish I knew who set me up for such a failure that almost cost me my life. Sadly, Lemuar was not so lucky" .

The black wolf figure would nod. " You're a highly trained assassin and a powerful mind as a scientist". The black wolf would say as he pointed to the spotted dogs PC. " Why not just hack into the database? Records are ALWAYS on hand. You may find exactly what you're looking for". Roland thought about it for a moment as he looked over at his PC. The thought never crossed his mind to hack into the college database, only cause it was illegal to enter without permission. Yet, this was his chance to find out what really happened, the truth. He would then turn his head to face the black wolf, but the male was nowhere in sight. Was he really a figment of Rolands imagination? Roland would strip off his lab coat for the moment as he takes a seat right at his desk, casting the lab coat aside on the floor as he got to work. It took a while as he began hacking his way through to the Ashfualt server, finally established a data link with the Ashfualt College database. While gathering data, Roland would start to view the cameras recordings notes and files from the day of the explosion and back. What the spotted dog found was something interesting, yet something awful at the same time. He found out who the culprit was. The look on Rolands face was that of disgust and hatred, and he needed answers. Now it was time to not only put his mind to the test but his assassination skills. It was about time he went after his own teacher and mentor, Manuren Oxen.

Roland would let out a deep sigh as he leaned back in his chair for a moment as he played the recording over one more time just to be sure. As the recording played, Roland was in it along with his old friends, Lemuar, Tigel, and Scott. They were away from the Hallucination machine with other classmates as they were going over the statistics and features. Ron Radbitto was in the back minding his own as the others were moving and talking about. There was one soul however that wandered the room. The older Ox Manuren himself. Roland watched carefully as the Ox moved about near the Hallucination machine, messing with one of the vials at the end as if he was tampering with it. By the looks of it, Manuren was adding a chemical into the mix that he was not supposed too. The more Roland watched, his eyes glowed a faint red as he would strap on his vest, grab his gun as he stood from his chair, going out on his potentially final hunt. One for revenge and desire. The desire to see Manuren dead.
