Cooperation can save the day.

Sometime in an alternate past, the earth split into two pieces, but they stayed close together. On one side of it lived a group of foxes, with a large population, and that side of the earth had no sun and very little could be grown there, and everybody was sad from there being no pretty sun to look at and go blind from. On the other side, there was plenty of sun, and plenty of things grew, providing a great standard of living to the small group of wolves that lived on that side of the island. One fox, named Alistair, shouted across the gap "Maybe we can build a bridge, and that way everybody can work together and have a brighter future! We have nocturnal plants that you don't!". He was the leader of the foxes. The leader of the wolves, named Ravenous, shouted back "We would rather die than let our land be polluted with such lowly beings as foxes! The lazy lot of them should either get better at agriculture and find better light sources or just die!" However, soon, the foxes used genetic engineering to make nocturnal plants that were more delicious than the plants on the wolves' side, and used glowstone and gigantic concrete poles to make artifical suns for sunlight all day. The sun also quickly turned the wolves' side into a desert. Ravenous, dying of starvation and thirst, shouted between exhausted gasps "I am certain we can allow you to build a bridge now! After all, we feel like you could use our benevolence!" Alistair then ordered the foxes to build a giant wall on the night side, blocking off the wolves, who then all died out. Btw, I AM talking about income inequality.
