Chapter 2: The Fight
#2 of The Five Worlds
So after weeks and weeks of being busy, stalling, and being lazy (mostly lazy) here is chapter two. i had this done less than a week after chapter two. but it was written on paper and i had to digitize it. and that's when things got a little side tracked.... well any way here you go. starting chapter 3 super soon
And so the chase was on. They were running for their lives, most of them didn't even know why. Even though they haven't had a good look at their chasers, they were some very big guys. The worst part was they were also very fast, they were covering the distance between them at an alarming rate.
"Where do we go?" Bray shouted out to Cody, who was a few feet ahead of them all.
"This way!" He yelled then immediately took a sharp right turn down another street. With all their hearts beating out of their chests, Dare sprinted ahead of everyone else, which surprised even Cody.
Then there was a loud bang that rang through the air and a bullet whizzed by Cody's ear. A yelp escaped from his mouth then and he reached up to his ear and felt blood. It wasn't anything major but Cody knew, next time they wouldn't miss.
"In here. Now!!" Cody shouted and dove into a nearby grocery store. There were so many other furs in there that it should be easy to blend in. So they all ran in and went to the back aisle where they could catch their breath.
"Who was that?" Bray questioned Cody after he regained his composure.
"Bad guys" He calmly responded as if it wasn't obvious.
Brayden facepawed "well I could guess that, but why were they after us?"
Cody checked around the corner and into the other aisles. "You, that's why I needed to find you first. Without me you would be captured or killed right now" He spun around to face the others. "I know you don't even know my name but we can have an actual conversation when our lives are not in danger. So here is what we are going to do, you guys will get everyone out of the store while I am dealing with the thugs."
"But how are you going to do that?" Dare questioned him.
He replied with a very grim expression on his face. "I have my ways, but after I am done they will never follow us again."
"Are you sure?" Justice asked, a little worried.
"Positive. Now get going, I don't want to see anyone else get hurt." They all nodded and ran around trying to get everyone in the store to evacuate. "I really hope I don't die during this" Cody muttered to himself. So he braced himself and stepped out into the open. That's when he got his first good look of his pursuers.
"shoulda known, great whites" Indeed this was a pair of great white sharks. But luckily for Cody, he knew just how to win. "Hey! Look over here you filthy, no good, water breathers!!" That sure got their attention and both of the big brute charged at him together. Cody quickly flew up into the air to avoid them, he turned around just in time to see them both crash head first into the wall of freezers. Cody landed on top of one of the shelves in an aisle and saw the others getting most of the furs out of the store, but it wasn't fast enough. He'd have to stall a little bit longer.
Just then the shelf that he was on collapsed, he wasn't paying attention and fell over with it, nearly getting pinned under. "Those meat head really think they can win?" Cody was confident that he was going to be the victor of this battle. But that was before one of them turned a water fountain into a high pressured water cannon. "Come oooooonn" he complained, "You HAD to be water freaks" Things might have just got a little harder, and still there were furs in the store. "Hey, yo Brayden, I would suggest I dunno. HURRYING UP!!"
"We are trying our best you grumpy asshole"
"Well I'm sorry for TRYING TO KEEP EVERYONE ALIVE!!!"
"Prepare to die Blaze" gurgled one of the big sharks.
"And you can prepare to eat my fluff, dirtbag" Cody growled back and got down in a feral position, baring his teeth. Another jet of water shot toward him and that's when he took the opportunity to attack back. He jumped into the air and flew directly at one of their necks and bit as hard as he could. When the other shark went to pull him off Cody let go without question, just to turn around and bite him.
From Brayden's point of view this guy was taking on these giant sharks who were each 4 times his own size, and winning. "I don't ever want to get into a fight with him" he mumbled to himself then looked over at Justice and Dare and saw that everyone was out. "We are all set here!" Bray yelled as loud as he could, trying to get the attention of the drolf.
Cody kicked himself off one of the sharks and dropped to the ground out of their reach. "You get out too!" he was saying while another jet flew out of nowhere and nearly hit him.
"But we are here to help"
"You will help by leaving! I'll be with you in five minutes. Now go"
"No, we can't ju-"
"I SAID NOW!!" and with that they were gone.
"Ok fish brains, it's my turn now." So Cody got back into that feral position and took a stance. He opened his maw so wide that it could have been unhinged. The sharks heard a deep rumble coming from somewhere then they realized it was from the hound's throat. And deep in the throat a spark ignited that sent a stream of pure, white hot flames racing from his maw directly toward the sharks. It only lasted ten seconds but that was more than enough time.
When it was all over there was nothing left of the sharks and a burning in some of the shelves along with a melted door. Cody's vision was blurry and fading but before he blacked out he saw the three other furs racing toward him to help out.
