  • * * From the lands of death and the shadows of hell...gods light will shine upon the savior and the weak...all is needed is Faith. - Quote of Gina From the Fires and Flames, the death and carnage...we will rise up and strike down those against us. And we will win. - Quote of Michael ================================================================ Slowly I woke up with Gina in my arms, her muzzle resting upon my chest as her tail twitched softly. I smiled, kissing her on the nose before I got up and moving to the window and looking out at the woods silently. Soon I heard the telephone ring, picking up the small wireless phone I shook my head slightly. "Yes?" "Sir, your presence is requested in the command room...you have to see this." replied Ginger. "I'll be there." I replied before ending the call and setting the phone back down and looking to the side as Gina murred softly while she sat up. "What's wrong? "I'm needed down in the command room." I looked to her slowly with a soft smile that was kindly returned by the beautiful lupine who slowly crawled out of the bed. Slowly she walked up to me and wrapped her arms around my neck, placing a soft kiss to my lips before speaking softly. "Go on and see what's wrong. I'll be here waiting for you no matter what." I gave a slight nod...moving to the bathroom to get cleaned up and soon I was on my way down the hall before Blaze and Reno showed up and sided me. I knew that if they was with me this quick, then something bad was going on. So with a slight nod to them, the three of us broke into a slight jog down the empty halls. Once we was at the command room, we walked in and over to a large map that was displayed on a large computer screen before we was greeted by Ginger. "Glad you made it, Wolf. Some one has breeched the outer defense...who ever it is, there good." she looked at me slowly while slightly tapping her hooves together in a nervous fashion before she calmed down when I rested my hand upon her shoulder. "There in the south side...looks like they might be rebels who want to damage the cause of the UAA." I gave a slight nod. "I figure as much. Well...lets wake up everyone...Red alert and give me the base com line." I had figured that everyone would be up by now and more liable to hear the message. Soon the base was filled with the sound of the alarm, and red lights as Ginger gave me the intercoms wired-in phone like receiver. "Attention all battle personnel...this is a Red Alert...we have unknown trespassers inside the bases defense line...I want all able and willing soldiers to report to the hanger...armed and armored. Lets go welcome our new guests. Move!" I slowly turned to Blaze and Reno who looked back at me intently, waiting for there own orders before I shook my head. "Not this time guys...I'm placing both of you in command of this base while I'm gone. I trust you to know just what to do if something bad happens.?" "Yes Sir." Reno replied with a salute. Blaze stood there silently before giving a slow nod. "Sir...I understand. But if something happens to you...I'll give my life for you." I looked to him slowly with a smile before shaking my head once more. "Blaze...you know the rules and you will follow them to the letter. You will stay here with your brother, and you will take command of this base until something can be done.. Blaze, I trust you with everything, you've always been there for me and protected me." I then looked to Reno. "You too. I thank you both." I then turned and walked out of the command room before turning around in the doorway. "One more thing...Blaze...you take good care of my sister...and Reno...take care of Gina for me." I was once more replied by two strong and loyal salutes before I then walked down the halls and to the hanger where I was greeted by two hundred armed soldiers. Slowly I got my armor on and picked up a M87ELA .50calaiber BMG rifle fitted with a high powered range finger scope, and a Aks-74u assault rifle, strapping it to my side while I picked up some spare ammo and some HE Grenades. "WOLF!" I spun around to see Gina running up to me before taking me into her arms, holding me close, nuzzling up against my neck before whispering. "You're going out there aren't you?" "Yes...I have to defend those I love and this cause." I gave a slight nod while stroking along her neck, causing her to give a soft moan. "Wolf." she looked up to me slowly, her amber eyes full of worry. "I have something to tell you..." I softly silenced her with a finger to the end of her muzzle. "Later my love...I have to go, but you can tell me as soon as I get back. I love you." I gave her one last kiss before I walked to the waiting hummer, getting in slowly before driving off out of the hanger, followed by the rest of the armed group. The ride was a little long for me but my mind was focused on the task ahead...some one had stepped in on our home with out so much as a call ahead to see if it was okay...what was this world coming to? So now it was time to go teach them a lesson in manners and respect. Slowly I loaded the M87ELA, but my mind drifted back slowly to Gina and her request to tell me something...it bugged me a little. What could she have not told me already that I haven't heard over the past six months? Shaking my head, I pushed that thought to the back of my mind while I watched the woods become thicker and thicker, before a bullet slammed into the side of the hummer, followed by a RPG that hit just in front of us causing the person who was driving to veer off and ram a tall tree that stalled the hummer. The rest of the group stopped quickly and made for cover as machine gun fire erupted into the late morning sky. Slowly I stumbled from the wrecked transport, pulling the rifle from beside the seat before taking cover behind a fallen log. I then took aim through the scope of my rifle, and like I learned in the movies I have seen, I targeted the muzzle-flash of the enemy before I fired. The heavy recoil of the rifle caused dust to fly up from around where the barrel rested, even though it was a foot above the ground, and the report from the shot echoed for miles around even over the full automatic machinegun fire. I glanced back to the group behind me, we was like cattle waiting to be slaughtered...I knew we wouldn't last. I looked back in front of me at the darkness in front...it reminded me of a few old classic war movies I seen with the war with America and Japan...and I felt like I was in that movie right now...I knew what was going to happen and I'll be damned if I let my friends get slaughtered when they can still get away so I turned around looking to the closest officer I had, finding a young tigress crouched down behind a tree while firing into the darkness. I remember when Blaze brought her to the base two months ago...a homeless kitten with out a penny to her name...dirty and distraught...afraid of nearly everything, but she seamed to take kind to Blaze and Reno quite easy...then for me. With the Alfred brothers help I was able to train her quickly for the resistance, and I was proud of her...she had the true heart of a warrior and it pleased me. I then flagged her over, while I turned back around and fired off another shot into the darkness. "Sir!" the tigress spoke just after she dove down beside me, looking up with yellow eyes, her fur a deep orange with the typical black stripes. I looked to her quickly. "I want you to take everyone out of here...fall back to the base. Regroup and hold fast there...if they come close...give them a hell of a welcome." I grinned. "What about you sir?" "Me...I'll stay here and cover you all." "But..." "That's an Order!" I replied sharply with the tone I had mimicked from the movies. Slowly the tigress gave a nod and moved back to the defending line, passing the word around and soon everyone started to fall back quickly as I remained behind, taking shots into the darkness. I could only hope whoever was attacking would just take me and not go on any more. God I hope. Time was crawling by as the gunfire never stopped until something hit me in the side, but it didn't hurt...just felt like a pinch. Slowly I looked down to see a dart in my side before I groaned. "Aw...Shhiiiitttt." soon my world went dark then I felt someone or something pick me up as if I weighed nothing and carried me off somewhere, and over the darkness...I heard these words. "We Got Him. He'll tell us where they are." that's when it all went silent. When everyone made it back to the base, Gina was waiting in the hanger with the Alfred brothers, waiting and watching. And soon after the last one entered the hanger, the doors closed down tight, locking into place with heavy steel bolt locks and gears. Gina then looked up to Reno slowly. "Where is he?" Reno slowly shook his head. "I don't know...I counted heads as they entered...I didn't see him come in with them." Gina whimpered softly as she ran to the nearest member of the unit, who just happened to be the young tigress. "Where's my mate? Where's Wolf?!" she whined softly as the tigress looked to her slowly, sorrowfully. "He staid behind to cover our retreat. I don't know what happened." Gina then ran for the heavy steel doors, grabbing onto one of the steel bolts and jerking on it in a feeble attempt to get out. "WOLF!! God don't do this to me...please!" she whined deeply "LET ME OUT!!! LET ME GO TO HIM!!" she cried out between whining howls of sorrow before she was turned around by Blaze who had came up behind her, holding her close to him, ignoring the weak hits she sent against his chest as she burred her face in his fur, sobbing. "I know, Gina...god I know. Don't worry...we'll find him." he looked down at her. Slowly she looked up to him, her eyes clouded by tears as she sniffed softly. "Promise me...Promise me you'll find him, and bring him back!" her ears laid back against her skull as her tail tucked between her legs, her whole body shaking in fear and sorrow. "I promise. I'll bring him back." Blaze replied softly while he stroked along her back, looking intently at the doors out of the hanger, his eyes filled with rage. ‘I'll rip apart those bastards if they have harmed you master...We're coming for you.' he thought with a growl. ‘We all are coming.'
