Prisoners of War - Questions

*

Heheh, hello, everyone, and welcome back! This one is commissioned by avatar?user=201438&character=0&clevel=2 1mastermind , as always, and it's good to return to writign this saga. I look forward to your feedback!

Sardo was nearly asleep when the door finally opened and Gantan stepped in. The lion was as naked as before his departure from the cell, with his face void of much expression. Sardo, on the bed, only caught a brief glimpse of the Overseer behind the glass door into their room before the black panther disappeared into the dimly lit hallway. The main lights in the cell were turned off about the same time, which only left the glow from the bathroom area and turned Gantan into a dark shape on the edge of the room.

"Hey," Sardo announced himself.

"Hmmm," rumbled the lion.

"You've been gone for a while," the tiger noted.

"I don't know how long," Gantan replied. "There was no chronometer to be seen. It did feel like a while."

"It did."

"I need to take a leak," Gantan announced unceremoniously.

Sardo decided not to comment on it. The act of sitting up and then standing from the bed made his own bladder remind itself to him, having been dormant when he'd simply laid still. Now the tiger definitely felt the need to relieve himself as well.

"Alright, you can go first," he said.

They squeezed into the bathroom stall together and assumed the positions - Gantan by the toilet, with Sardo behind him and squeezing on the base of the device around the lion's shaft that kept him from touching himself or taking care of his bathroom needs on his own. The pressing of the tiger's fingers opened the top of the device, and with a tug from Gantan, the tip of his penis came into sight.

"Here we go," Sardo commented.

Gantan snorted.

"Where did you go?" Sardo asked.

The tiger's ears flicked briefly. Making small talk while they were engaged in this ritual was not something he had really caught the paw of yet. It made his stream waver and trickle. The tiger snorted at the feeling and the sight.

"Some sort of a conference room," Gantan grunted.

"He has one?"

"Yeah."

Gantan hissed. He still couldn't make it flow properly.

"I guess he needs one."

"He wanted to play games," Gantan said.

"Games?" Sardo frowned.

Gantan let out a frustrated huff. He managed yet another trickle.

"Tactical simulations," the lion said. "He's got a...whatever they call a Bensdorf table here. Worked pretty much the same, too. He showed me how."

"Why?" Sardo asked. "Did he try to interrogate you?"

"I'm not entirely sure what he did," the lion rumbled. "It was strange."

Gantan appeared to finish up what he was doing. He gave himself a shake.

"Thank you for urinating!"

"Your turn, if you need it," he said.

"I do," Sardo replied. "It's been a while."

They shuffled and swapped places and assumed their new positions, almost automatically.

"It was Eskiltune," Gantan said.

"What?" asked Sardo.

"The simulation map, it was Eskiltune" the lion replied. "He claims that it was the current situation. Well, from a week ago at least."

Sardo tried to relax for the act of voiding his bladder, but the lion's words weighted on him.

"How can we know it was real?" he stated.

"We can't," Gantan said, "he just claimed it was the situation a week ago."

"Okay," said Sardo.

It took a trickling false start for the tiger before he finally managed to start pissing properly. Gantan let out a grunt. Sardo was sure that he'd managed to splash the tiger's fingers once again. It was almost inevitable due to the conditions to this natural act imposed by their jailer.

"He just wanted to play with it," the lion said. "War games on Eskiltune."

"Maybe he just tried to get you to talk about it."

"What do I know about Eskiltune?" Gantan huffed. "I've never even visited, let alone was involved in any of the fighting since Esilos, as he well knows, I bet."

Sardo felt himself done, and said as much.

_"Thank you for urinating!"_the toilet said.

"Thanks a lot," Gantan growled.

Now relieved of both his need to urinate and the lion's paws on himself, Sardo stepped over to the sink to wash his paws.

"I don't know what he was thinking," Gantan said. "I think he tried to be nice to me."

"Nice?"

"Yeah," the lion said. "He gave me clothes, booze..."

Sardo switched the sink onto the hot air mode and began to dry his paws.

"He gave you a drink?"

"Something that tasted foul but it was alcohol alright."

"Well that was nice of him."

"There wasn't exactly much of it, though," Gantan said. "I'm not gonna complain about it. Been a long while."

"Might have tried to sweeten you to talk," the tiger noted.

"Probably."

"Or make me envious," Sardo said.

"About what?" Gantan frowned.

"The exclusive treatment," Sardo said. He looked over his shoulder at the lingering lion. "Getting things and privileges I don't, like clothes..."

The lion shrugged.

"Whatever," he said. "He didn't get anything from me."

Sardo felt sufficiently clean, and made room for Gantan to wash his own paws.

"Would you, though?" Gantan asked.

"Yes?" the tiger replied.

"Get envious?"

"Over you getting to enjoy some quality time with General Rei?" Sardo stated.

Gantan snorted.

"Yeah, we had a fantastic time," his sarcasm made his whiskers wobble.

"I'm sure you did," Sardo replied in the same tone.

"I really don't know what he wanted," Gantan stated again. "It was like he just wanted to talk."

"Who else would he talk to?" Sardo suggested. "As far as we know, there's only us here, the General, and the anthrobot, who doesn't seem much of a talker."

"Isn't that the point?" Gantan rumbled.

"What do you mean?"

"What if there is someone else here?"

"Who?" Sardo asked.

"Whoever!" Gantan yelped over the hum of the warm air blower, drying his paws. "Other servants, prisoners..."

"We haven't seen anyone else since we came here," the tiger noted.

"That doesn't mean anything," Gantan said. "He's a sneaky fuck."

"Maybe so."

"Maybe we're just the latest in a long line of playthings," Gantan suggested.

"And when does he play with the others?" Sardo questioned.

"Whenever we're locked up here, of course!" Gantan rumbled. "Sometimes he doesn't let us out in days. Maybe that's when."

"I just don't know why he'd do that," Sardo said.

Gantan shook his paws after their air drying, and seemed relieved when the buzzing of the hot air blower stopped.

"I want to lie down," he said.

"You don't need my permission for that," Sardo said. "Or is that some new rule the General just imposed? Can't fall asleep unless my paw is on your dick?"

"If he gets that idea from you..." the lion grunted.

The grumbling pair headed over to the bed and got under the covers.

"What about Eskilstune, then?" Sardo asked.

"They're still fighting."

"Did he try to make you talk about it? The units, the defense system?"

"No," Gantan said. "Not that I'd know anything about it, either. We just played war games."

"Maybe he tried to make you slip something. Distract you with the game."

The lion grunted.

"What would he expect to learn that they already didn't hear from me?" he said. "You know what they do to POWs in the Confederation. Everyone gets suggestion probed in the camp for any piece of information they might have. I'm sure we've been done too."

"I don't remember it," Sardo said.

"That's because they scramble your memory afterwards," Gantan said with conviction. "Everyone knows that's what happens when they take you in for interrogation."

"It could be just propaganda," Sardo said.

"Are you defending the Confederation now?"

"I'm just tired," the tiger huffed. "Stop bothering me."

For a while, the lion was quiet.

"He said something really strange," Gantan said.

"Hhmmm?" rumbled the tiger, eyes already closed.

"Wanted to know if we think he's a bad man," the lion stated.

Sardo snorted.

"You're drunk."

Gantan stretched his paws under the covers and tried to adjust his posture to one that felt more comfortable.

"I don't know...it almost sounded like he cared about it."

"About what?"

"About what we think about him," Gantan said. "It just felt like it, at least for a bit. He got upset when I called him a murderer..."

"Yughh," Sardo rumbled. "You just had to."

"He didn't go berserk or anything," said Gantan. "just gave this weird speech about what a great guy he is."

"Of course he'd think so," Sardo said. "And I'm sure he'll be thinking up a fine punishment for your behavior again."

"I didn't do anything!" the lion grunted. "We just talked!"

"And I'm sure it pleased him a lot that you argued with him!" said Sardo.

"I think he did," Gantan said.

Sardo bit his lip. Sometimes the lion could be terribly stubborn. The forced close quarters did not make it easier to tolerate either.

"I meant - "

"I know what you meant, and I'm serious," Gantan grumbled to the tiger on his side.

"Okay."

"I'm telling you, he just wanted to talk," Gantan said.
