"Doctor, will she be okay?" Blaze asked the surgeon that had come to meet her and Starlah after the surgery of Midnight, the surgeon's blue eyes looking at them both before he sighed, "I cannot say if it is due to the angle of the penetration or just a very thick skull, but the bullet was successfully removed from the frontal part of her cranium. However, the frontal area of her telencephalon is risking to have a few complications as she got a subdural haematoma increasing the intracranial pressure. That is why I wished to speak to you in a private room. We can insert a small catheter through a hole we drill through her skull and suck the haematoma out, but if it is not working, we will need to perform a craniotomy on her and completely open her skull, but this can lead to complications such as increased intracranial pressure, brain edema, new or recurrent bleeding, infection, and seizure. The choice is yours."

Starlah didn't get a chance to stop Blaze from grabbing the surgeon by the coat and yelling at them, "So why are you waiting? Do it! I want her to be healthy! I want my Midnight back!" Starlah grabbed Blaze hard by the arm, "Please, do not yell at him, Blaze. He is doing his best to help." The surgeon looked at Blaze, "Ma'am, I assure you that I got the utmost understanding for your situation and reason for harvesting this anger, but please refrain from any unnecessary actions to relieve your anger on me." Blaze looked between Starlah and the surgeon before putting him down, "I am sorry, doctor. I just..." The surgeon softly hushed her, "It is natural, ma'am. I am sure she would be the same if you were in her seat." Blaze lowered her head before walking out the room, "It should have been me and not her." Starlah looked after Blaze as she left, then at the surgeon, "Doctor, sir. How big of a chance is it that the procedure will be a success?" The surgeon replied calmly to him, "I would give a 50% chance. But I forgot to mention to her that after we are done with the procedure, we are being forced to put her in an artificial coma by lowering her body temperature. It is to calm down the blood pressure a bit and also increase her chance of survival by 25%." Starlah nodded to the surgeon, "Then please proceed with it, doctor. I will go and check on my friend." The surgeon just nodded before Starlah left to catch up to Blaze.

"Establishing contact link to Law Enforcement Advanced Helicopter." the male AI spoke up as Starlah tried to contact Blaze, "Come on, Blaze. Answer me." The car quickly turned on its ignition as it began to drive back to the agency, whilst in the sky above London, the helicopter's female AI soon buzzed to the attention of the signal, "Incoming contact link from Enhanced Rapid Interception Conveyance." it said as Blaze silently sat in the seat and watched over London's wide expansive horizon, "Ma'am, there is a signal from Enhanced Rapid Interception Conveyance." Blaze looked at the AI, "Main screen, turn on." The entire windshield soon were covered in a screen as Starlah's face appeared, "There you are! I have been waiting for the last minute. Where are you?" Starlah asked before Blaze replied, "Hunting myself a soon-to-be-dead asshole." Starlah knew that voice quite well that was using, it was the predatory voice that Blaze usually used when she was teasing him and Midnight, only this time it had a more serious tone to it, "Please Blaze, you got no idea where they could be. Come down and lets go to sleep." Blaze didn't listen as she growled, "I know you are out there, you son of a bitch! I will find you!"

Early next morning, Starlah woke up as the rays of the sun found their way through the window panes and almost as quickly as he had awoken, he was up and walking towards the kitchen. There wasn't anyone standing there, so Blaze had probably been out all night trying to hunt down the perpetrator. Sighing over her stubborn nature, he walked over to the fridge and took out one of Blaze's heat-n-eat meals, choosing a medium-rare steak with green peas and mashed potatoes. Putting the dish in the microwave oven, he set it to heating and three minutes, looking out the window to see the two vehicles sitting there, but mostly the sight of Blaze sitting in the cockpit and sleeping. Starlah facepalmed after seeing it, "She really wanted to get the person back for it, didn't she?" Finishing up his dish quickly, he walked out and plugged the helicopter into the charging station before getting into the car, a small message popping up on the screen saying "Thank you." from the helicopter's AI, making Starlah smile before speaking up, "Eric, take me to my job of the day, you know the address already." The male AI confirmed the order and the pedal soon hit the metal as they drove off.

Arriving at the location of his job, Starlah had parked the car and walked into the nightclub to do his thing. The owner of the establishment had greeted him personally and had a few of the workers help him set everything up. Starlah knew that if Blaze had been there, she might have been worried, but learned to just relax a bit. After half the set had been done and Starlah had to let another DJ work, he had taken a seat in a chair near the bar. A young, but slightly buff pitbull walked over, "Hello there, good work on the set there." Starlah smiled, "Thanks. I just wish my friend was here. She is worried about her sweetheart." The bartender was soon nodding and quickly handed up a glass of coke to Starlah, looking to the sides before leaning in, "Hey, pretty boy. Let me tell you something." Starlah looked at him and soon leaned closer before the bartender lowered his voice into a whisper, "I know about the attempted assassination on you. The one who attempted to take your life, he is coming here around 5:00pm every day to check if I know about your whereabouts. And I got some interesting dirt on him. If you are willing to listen."

Starlah felt as if his heart was about to explode from joy over actually hearing that someone had a lead, but keeping his professionalism in check, he was soon nodded, "Please, tell me." The bartender nodded, "His name is Raganzi Locke. And he is actually a dancer. He comes from Birmingham and traveled here because he is hired to kill you. Or not hired exactly, he is threatened to do it in order to save one of his friends. When he got drunk a few days ago, he spewed out all the information and cried against my shoulder. Poor guy. I am sure that he is probably the one who injured your friend. I am sure that as long as his friend is in danger, he will be a danger to you too. So I am just saying, chap, do not be mad at him. He is just doing it to save a friend." Starlah had a lot on his mind after hearing this, but that information had been valuable, so as a thanks, he grabbed the bartender and gave him a kiss, "Thanks a lot for the information. I think once my friend hears about this, she will understand." The bartender was shocked by the kiss, but before he could say another thing, Starlah had already headed out to send a message to Blaze about all this.

At the same time, a few blocks away, the male fox stood with a letter in his hands, "Come to the warehouse near the docks at Piccadilly Circus. I got some information that might make your job easier. Come alone, or your friend is as good as dead. Signed, Sir Itrus T. Noone." Giving his holster a light pat, the reynard got onto his knee and pulled out his rifle, taking aim at the door to the warehouse, carefully lining up the shot, "Not if I kill ye first, boyo." He wasn't paying attention to his surrounding as before he could react to it, a powerful strike from behind knocked him out cold as a beagle looked down at him with a wide grin, "Good night, mister Locke."

The End.
