#8 of The Evil of Love

A strong human man, a cunning and perverted male lucario, and a thieving giggling female weavile all search for something in a land where men use shields and swords to protect their lives. They search for treasure, but end up with something more.

Rulf, Taleen and Sarkis all ran with the other volunteers, making their way closer and closer to the huge keep. The rain began to pour, soaking the dirt path that everyone was running up. The sound of chainmail, plated mail and the sounds of the chains on flails filled the air. As they all charged up to the north side of the castle, they began to see exactly what it looked like. The keep was huge, almost scraping the sky. The keep itself was inside the castle walls. The castle gate, made of metal reinforced wood, was blocking their entry. At the walls of the castle gate, there were clearly humanoid figures there, watching the advance of the heavily armed force heading their way. As Rulf ran, an arrow was suddenly fired right at him. The arrow narrowly missed hitting anything important, but left a big bloody gash right across his left cheek. "Gah! Bastard!" He slowed down only for a couple of seconds, in which time, Sarkis and Taleen had ran ahead. Arrows were flying left and right, hitting the people besides Rulf. There was nothing he could do for them besides run straight towards the castle gate.

As Sarkis ran straight for the castle walls, he bent down, picking up a metal shield someone must've dropped. He then pressed his back against the castle wall, and held the round metal shield over his head with one paw. Soon after he did so, he felt rocks hitting the metal shield from above. The undead archers threw rocks down onto him, in hopes of crushing his skull. "Stop trying to bash my brains in!" The lucario angrily yelled up at the undead archers.

Rulf ran straight over to Sarkis, who then tried to cover his head with the shield too. "I almost got an arrow through my face!" The human exclaimed.

"On the plus side, you might get a sexy scar." Sarkis responded with a big smirk on his face.

Suddenly, a large man with a huge brown bushy beard pressed his back against the wall besides Rulf. He had long brown hair that was tied back into a ponytail, and looked to be rather large. He was six foot five, wearing steel plate armor. It looked to be far too expensive for a mere peasant, it was clear that he was someone with a great deal of wealth. In his hands, he held a massive double headed battleaxe. The shaft of the axe was wrapped up with leather, making it more comfortable to wield. "Fucking rotting bastards! When I get up there, I will bugger you with my fuckin' axe!" He yelled out to the corpses manning the wall.

Rulf had no idea who this guy was, but he was glad that he was on their side. "Cover your head, they're throwing rocks on us!" He yelled to the man over the screams of the other soldiers on the battlefield.

"Rocks?! It is going to take more than a few fucking rocks to put me down!" The man with the big bushy beard yelled back before then looking up. His eyes widened as he saw a one of the undead men now dropping a boulder the size of his head over the edge of the wall. The man barely managed to push himself away from the wall in time to dodge the big rock.

"Good dodge." Rulf said with a slight smile on his face. In times like these, it was a good thing to keep humour alive.

Sarkis couldn't help but look around, noticing the lack of a certain someone. "Where's Taleen?" He asked as he saw the dwarves in the distance, bringing in their massive battering ram right up the dirt road leading to the castle gates.

"Doesn't matter, just keep that shield up." Rulf knew only too well that Taleen could keep herself safe. Out of all of them, she was definitely the stealthiest. As more men arrived at the wall, they used their shields to guard each other's heads as they waited for the dwarves to bring in their battering ram.

While Rulf and Sarkis were right at the castle walls, attacking from the north, Taleen ran off with a separate group comprised of a few dwarf scouts, human sellswords, and a few other pokemon. Ran around all the way to the south side of the castle. The walls were high, but the dwarf scouts had brought along something to scale the walls. Grappling hooks. The dwarves took off their leather backpacks, and began pulling out the grappling hooks while some of the sellswords kept their bows raised at the walls, ready for any other archers. So far, the south side of the wall seemed completely defenceless. Taleen watched as the dwarves swung their hooks right up to the top of the wall. They tugged on their ropes to make sure that whatever the hooks had latched onto was not about to move. Then, they started climbing. One at a time, they all climbed the ropes attached to the hooks. Taleen was very quick when it came to climbing the rope. In next to no time, she had scaled the wall, and hopped onto the battlements. From here, she could see everything inside the castle walls. She could see the battlements to the north had a whole army of the undead swarming over them, trying to defend against the army of the living. In the courtyard, there looked to be around about one hundred zombies, waiting for the castle gates to be broken down. She could hear screams and yells as a massive crashing sound rang out. She guessed the dwarves were using their battering ram against the castle gate already.

"We should find the necromancer keeping these things alive." A masked female dwarf said. She wore a brown leather mask that kept every part of her face hidden, except for her eyes, and the bridge of her nose. She wore a brown leather coat, with fingerless leather gloves. On her forearms, there were platemail vambraces. Covering her lower half, she wore brown leather trousers. They looked quite thick, as if there was some sort of padding to them. Her leather coat also had that same sort of look, the leather looking a lot thicker around her chest area. In her right hand, she held a short sword. Hanging off her belt were three small throwing knives. "The fucker is probably hiding in there!" She pointed towards the keep, which was only a hundred feet away, and could be accessed through the battlements they were currently on. The keep was very large, and very hard to miss. "Let's go cut his dick off!" She said to both the dwarves and the sellswords as she led them straight towards the keep.

Taleen liked the dwarf's style, whoever she was. She was eager to see what she could do, so she quickly followed the group of dwarves and sellswords while the others kept the main bulk of the undead army busy. She followed them all towards a sturdy wooden door. Taleen looked around to everyone, they were only a small force of twenty men and women, most of which were dwarves. The masked female dwarf attempted to open the door, but it wasn't budging. "Locked? I can take care of that!" Taleen happily said.

The masked dwarf stood aside and motioned towards the door. "If you think you can get it open, go right ahead." She said as everyone moved out of the way.

Taleen wore a wide grin on her face as she reached into the pockets of her shorts, and pulled out a lock pick. In an instant, she had the door opened up. "All done." She proudly said.

The masked dwarf was pretty impressed. "I can tell you're a thief." She said with a smirk before then walking into the door Taleen just opened.

While the group of twenty were infiltrating the keep, Sarkis and Rulf watched as the battering ram the dwarves had brought in finally bashed open the gates of the castle, warping metal, splintering wood. The gates were broken down, allowing everyone to flood the courtyard of the castle. As Rulf and Sarkis stormed the courtyard, one thing was instantly noticeable, besides the decaying corpses attempting to kill them. The mud made was deep and slippery. One wrong move, and someone could slide on their back, giving their opponent a chance to end the fight. Everyone slogged through the mud, and engaged their enemy. Rulf made his way towards one corpse that appeared to only have one arm. It appeared that the right arm had been torn off. Judging from the chainmail the corpse still wore, he must've been a guard at this place before it was taken over by the necromancer. Rulf held his sword in both hand, getting into a fighting stance. Before he could strike however, Sarkis simply threw an aura sphere right through the head of the zombie. Its head was completely obliterated, shards of skull and bits of brain flying everywhere, shortly before the body dropped to the ground. "Ugh, that move seems a little unfair." He said as he looked to Sarkis.

The lucario simply chuckled in response. "You want to talk about unfair? You have to cave in their skull before they die. Now that's unfair."

Rulf was about to add something, before he saw an undead houndoom running straight for Sarkis. "Look out!

Sarkis spun around, gasping as he saw the rotting houndoom running right at him, before then jumping. It was coming right for his neck. Sarkis grabbed his staff with both paws, and raised it up to his neck. He was then knocked down to the muddy ground by the force of the houndoom's body colliding with his. The houndoom bit down hard on the wooden shaft of the staff. "Get this rotting piece of meat off me!" He yelled out to Rulf.

Rulf took one big horizontal swipe at the houndoom's head, feeling the blade cutting through a thin layer of flesh, shortly before the cracking through the skull, and lodging itself halfway into the houndoom's brain. The houndoom's body went limp for a moment, before it then started to twitch. Rulf yanked the blade out of the houndoom's head, before then kicking the dead body off Sarkis. "On your feet." He then held out his hand for Sarkis.

The lucario immediately reached out for his hand, pulling himself up. "Ugh, I am going to need a bath when we get back home."

"I thought you liked getting dirty." Rulf said with a faint smile, before then being pulled back to the grizzly situation they were in when he heard the sound of screams. All he had to do was take one look around to see men on the floor, bleeding to death. They had to end this quickly before more people died. He looked to the keep, he guessed that is where the necromancer would be. "Come on, let's get to the keep while the others keep the undead busy!"

"My thoughts exactly! Let's go!" The lucario quickly made his way towards the keep, trying to dodge the many blades swinging around.

While Sarkis and Rulf made their way towards the keep, Taleen and the masked female dwarf walked up the stone steps of the keep. They were closely followed by a well armed group. Taleen couldn't wait for the necromancer to pretty much shit himself when he sees that they just bypassed his entire undead army. Eventually, they reached the very top floor of the keep. If they went any higher, they would be on the roof. They stopped at a single heavy looking wooden door. The masked dwarf looked back to everyone else, before then looking back to the door. The dwarf held her short sword with one hand, and quickly flung the door open with her other hand. As soon as she did, everyone ran straight into the room with her, including Taleen. What they saw, they weren't quite expecting. The room was massive, with stone walls and floors. There appeared to be no furniture at all, nothing that stood out, apart from the blood splattered all over the walls and floor. The narrow windows barely let in enough light to see what was going on in the room. The only things in the room were a ladder leading to the roof, and a big stone alter. Laying on the alter was a body of a dead human that had been skinned. Behind the alter, there was an old balding man with white hair. In one hand, he held a knife, and in the other, he held a book. He wore gray blood stained robes, as well as a strange sort of mask that covered his nose and mouth. It roughly resembled the snout and mouth of a Doberman. It appeared to be made of metal, with leather straps securing it into his head.

"You're interrupting my work." The old necromancer said as he looked straight at the dwarf. "If you intend to kill me, you're making a mistake. Do you know how much I have learned since my undead drones started dragging in bodies?"

"Don't care." The dwarf pulled a throwing knife, and immediately threw it at the necromancer. However, the skinned body suddenly sat up, and the knife found itself lodged right into the undead man's shoulder. "I'll fucking tear your spine out!"

"You'll have to be alive to do that! Kill them all!" The necromancer yelled out as three corpses suddenly dropped down from the ceiling. They quickly landed, and just as quickly, they lunged to attack. The three attacking corpses each had three pairs of arms. There was a human one, wielding daggers. Then there was a gallade one, using nothing but his natural blades. Then there was a weavile one, acting more like a spider, it crawled using its arms. Unlike the others, the weavile's legs appeared to have been cut off at the knees.

In almost a blink of an eye, the whole situation changed into a blood bath. Taleen quickly jumped out of the way of the gallade's path, narrowly avoiding a blade to the face. They all moved so quickly, and wildly, blindly attacking any living being they saw. The gallade slashed open the necks of two dwarves, before spinning around, stabbing and slashing another three in the chest, face, and gut. The others slashed and hacked away at the gallade, but it didn't even seem to slow it down. Taleen immediately targeted the gallade. As soon as the gallade had his back turned to her, she used her sharp claws to slash right into the back of the gallade's left knee. It suddenly dropped to the ground, landing flat on its face before pushing itself up, trying to stand again before falling back down to one knee. It was then a human lifted his sword above his head, and brought the blade down right onto the back of the gallade's neck. The blade didn't go all the way through, but it didn't have to. The gallade suddenly dropped to the ground. This time, it stayed down. Before the human could even take a sigh of relief, a dagger was rammed right through his neck. As soon as the blade was pulled out, blood gushed forth, splattering across Taleen's face.

"Fucking die!" The female dwarf leader yelled as she plunged her short sword right through the multi-limbed human's spine, causing it to lose control of its legs. It let out a strange snarling sound as it hit the floor, but it didn't stop attacking. It swung its daggers at the shins and ankles of everyone else. Suddenly, the dwarf felt something slashing through her tough leather trousers, cutting into her right shin. She let out a brief grunt as she quickly stepped back just in time to see the mutilated weavile creature quickly crawling away from her. "Little bastard!"

Taleen quickly grabbed a long sword from a nearby dead body, and quickly began hacking at all the arms of the multi-limbed human, slicing off fingers and hands. Until there was nothing left but bloody stumps. Once she was done taking out the limbs from a bit of a distance, she dropped the sword, and looked at a pissed off looking male dwarf, with a massive diagonal gash across his face, soaking his brown beard. She watched him finish off the job by stomping on the undead human's head again, and again, and again. Eventually, she heard a nasty crunching sound as the skull finally gave way, ending the poor creature's life. "Two down! One more to g-" Taleen couldn't even finish her sentence as the last mutilated monstrosity jumped straight towards her face. Taleen was quick, but so was this creature. She barely managed to duck underneath the creature's claws in time.

The spider-like weavile latched straight onto a nearby infernape, causing him to lose his balance and fall onto his back. The infurnape screamed as he felt the weavile biting down onto his nose, whilst he felt claws digging right into his ribs, and hips and thighs. "Fucking help me!" He screamed as the weavile ripped flesh straight off his bones, and threw it aside. Blood soaked the infurnape's fur, covering nearly every inch of his body.

Taleen ran straight up to the spider-like weavile, and kicked it right in the side of its head, but it didn't seem to stop it one bit. The infurnape was still screaming as chunks of flesh was being ripped right off his bones. That was when Taleen got on one knee, and began ramming her claws right into the base of the weavile's skull. She stabbed away again, and again, and again, until her claws were in deep enough to push right into the weavile's brain. By that point, the infernape was dead too. Taleen stood up, but as she did, a corpse suddenly sat up in front of her, and swung his long sword right at her. She immediately jumped back, but that didn't stop the tip of the blade leaving a big eight inch gash right across her belly. "FFF-AH!" She held her belly, and held in the need to swear as loudly as she possibly could.

The female dwarf leader looked back to her people, only to see the ones who had died rising up, and slaughtering the survivors. She then looked back to the alter, only to see that it appeared that the necromancer had left. She looked up to the ladder just in time to see that he was climbing it. "Fucking coward! Get back here and fight!" She yelled as she ran straight for the ladder, and started climbing.

Taleen looked around to see everyone being dragged down, and slaughtered, stabbed, and gutted alive. She looked back to the door she came from, thinking about running. She wasn't going to win this fight alone, it took to much time just to put one of them down. She was about to run, but then she saw some familiar faces. "I need some help here!" She quickly pulled a dagger out of the grasp of a severed hand, preparing to fight once again.

Rulf ran straight for a corpse that was only just getting up. It was on its knees, with its mouth hanging wide open when Rulf swung his sword right at its mouth. The blade cut through the flesh and bone, and pretty much split the head in two, right at the jaw. The corpse dropped to the floor, but another three came right at him. Sarkis helped out by throwing an aura sphere right into one of their heads, completely destroying the skull. But there were still two now swinging their swords down on Rulf's head. Quickly, Rulf raised his sword, stopping the blades before they could land on his head. Rulf kicked one right in the chest, knocking one one down while Taleen jumped on the back of the other one, and rammed her dagger right through the eye socket of the freshly made corpse. Blood gushed out as the body fell to the floor. Rulf immediately ran towards the one he had knocked down, and stood on the corpse's sword arm, stopping it from taking another swipe whilst he now raised his sword, and brought the tip of the blade right down onto the forehead of the sword wielding zombie.

While this was going on, the female masked dwarf was fighting on the roof of the keep. She rammed her sword through the underside of an undead dwarf's jaw, making the blade pierce all the way through the top of its head. Blood flowed from the undead dwarf's mouth before she then pulled her blade out, and let the body fall to the hard stone floor. The only person left now was the necromancer, who was clearly scared. She could see it in his eyes.

"Wait!" The necromancer said as he threw up his hand. "Do you know how many lives my research could save? People without magic and potions could treat wounds that should be fatal! We coul-" His speech was cut short, when the masked dwarf threw a blade right into the necromancer's thigh.

She watched as he screamed, and fell to the hard stone floor. She was breathing heavily as she stormed straight over to him. "One of their lives isn't worth ALL of your fucking research!" She yelled out.

"GAAAHH! Haven't you ever lost someone because you didn't have magic?! Or the money to buy potions?! My research could've saved all of those people! Now people without magic or money might have a chance at saving those they love!" The necromancer told her as he shook in both fear, and pain. He believed what he was doing was for the greater good. He knew what he was doing would be considered evil, but that was a sacrifice he was willing to make.

The dwarf stopped for a moment, looking as if she was thinking. Then, she reached out with one hand, andgrabbed the necromancer's right foot, dragging him across the hard stone roof. "Your research is done. I am ending this fucking mess."

"Where are you taking me?! What the hell are you doing?" He yelled out as he was dragged back towards the ladder he took to climb the roof.

The dwarf then looked back to him once they were close to the hole leading down to the floor Rulf, Taleen, and Sarkis were. She raised her sword, and brought the blade down on the necromancer's right knee, making him scream. "I have lost people I care about... But if it was up to you, you would've fucking cut them up and made them part of your sick little army. Fucking choke on your own blood, cunt." She then walked around, and kicked him right in the ribs again, and again, before then kicking him down the hole that led down to the other floor. She heard the necromancer scream, right before landing on his head, breaking his neck.

Sarkis let out a yell as he punched an undead man straight in the face, only to see him flop back, dead. "Oh! I...I was not expecting that!" He exclaimed. "I must be stronger than I thought!"

Rulf chuckled as he looked back to the lucario. "They're all dead, must've been the necromancer keeping them all alive."

"I'm fine, in case anyone was wondering!" Taleen grunted a little as she held her bleeding belly. Itdidn't feel like it went in too far, but it was still a big bleeding wound.

Rulf's attitude quickly changed when he had seen just how badly Taleen had been wounded. He didn't even know she had been wounded until she brought it to their attention. "How the hell did you get cut like this?" He asked her as he walked over to her, and knelt down. "Sarkis, can you check around the place and see if any of these bodies have a healing potion?" He asked as he got a closer look at her wound.

"I shall." The lucario simply replied as he now began checking the bodies.

Whilst he was doing that, the female dwarf that had killed the necromancer was climbing down the ladder. Once she reached the bottom, she checked the necromancer's corpse. It was then she found something, the book he was carrying. She pulled it out, and looked through the first few pages. It was clear this was the research that he was talking about. Seemed to be a waste to let nothing good come out of this madness, so when no one was looking, she stuffed it away into her coat pocket, and walked over to the weavile. "That's going to leave a scar. Here, drink this." She said as she reached into a different pocket, and pulled out a small vial of dark red liquid.

Taleen asked no questions, she just grabbed the vial, and pulled the cork out of it. She opened up her mouth and swallowed it all up in one big gulp. Tasted like bitter cherries, and made her throat and tongue feel kind of numb. Already, she was feeling better. Her body was gradually healing itself at a much faster rate. She watched as her wound closed itself up before her very eyes. It was clear that this potion was very potent, not watered down like some of the others she had tried. It couldn't have been cheap. "Thank you!" The weavile said to the dwarf with a big grin.

The dwarf looked around at Taleen's friends. "... Are you three the ones that built that big new house in Fordin?" She asked, wondering if they were the three she had heard about.

Rulf nodded. "Yeah, that's our place." He said to her.

"Hm, then we might see each other again some time." The female dwarf simply said as she looked to the two other dwarf survivors. "Come on, let's go, and get our pay. We'll collect our dead later."

Rulf noticed that as they were leaving, Sarkis was still searching for something. "Err, we already got a potion for Taleen, if that's what you were looking for."

Sarkis grunted as he looked back to Taleen and Rulf. "I know. I was searching for a potion for myself. I think I pulled a muscle."

Taleen laughed at Sarkis for a moment. "You need a potion to get over a pulled muscle?! You're a bigger girl than I am!" She said with an amused look on her face.

Rulf chuckled before then walking towards the door. "Come on, we don't want to miss the celebration."
