The Life of Half star - (Inspired by Erin Hunters Awesome Story Series Warrior Cats) - 4 - Training

*The next Day *

The rest of the Day had gone by with nothing special in it. Half star had talked to a few Cats who had come to visit Black tooth or Wild Berry Claw, Hawk Paws mother.

Today, in the morning, Half star, Dust tail and Hawk paw had left the camp and were now slowly walking through the forest.

Hawk paw was happily jumping around while Dust tail showed Half star the Borderline of their territory.

" Hawk Paw!" Dust tail called from behind his son. " Don´t run away too far. This area is far too dangerous for a kit like you. "

" Yes Dust tail. " The apprentice called back before he disappeared behind a brake bush.

* Sniff * *Sniff * *Sniff*

Half star scanned the surrounding to become clear of the place but what he smelled let him become focused from one moment to another.

" HAWK PAW!! COME HERE!!! QUICK !!" He screamed but as an answer he became a loud.

" MEOTH!!!"

" OH NO!"

Quickly both Toms ran towards the last position of the Apprentice and once they reached it they both saw that the kit was standing with his back on a stone and right in front of him were 2 snakes trying to bite him.

Immediately, Dust tail and Half star screamed out a war cry and jumped at the snakes. Dust tail managed it to get one of the snakes Heads into his mouth and with one Bite the snake was Death. Half star's snake had managed to dodge his attack but once she tried to bite him, he had done another jump and on the landing he sliced his right Claws through the Head of the snake and pinned it down on the ground. The snake then did a few wild moving's but then her Body dropped death to the ground.

Once it was clear that both snakes were death, the toms looked at the shacking Body of the apprentice and got shocked. The kit was bleeding on his right hind leg. Not much but enough to become feared of him.

" Hawk Paw. Have you.... " Dust tail started but then he was cut by Half star because the kit wanted to do a false move.

" NO! DON´T LICK !!" He screamed at the apprentice.

" But it hurts me !!" The Apprentice meow back and tried again tried to lick his wound.

"I SAID DON´T LICK !!!"

The apprentice began to shake more. Now in pure fear because he thought that he had done something wrong.

" I´m sorry but don´t move. Let me see your wound first!"

Half star moved to the side of the apprentice and there he looked over the wounded leg.

"Fox poo!! Dust tail fix him as hard as you can. "

Dust tail followed without a word. He moved to his son and pressed his front on the ground. The kit began to protest but none of them listened. Then Half star did something that the kit would never forget in his entire life. He bit into the leg. Not deep but enough to let the blood began to flow.

The Apprentice began to scream in pain and tried hardly to get rid of his Mentor but it was no use. Half star was holding his leg in position with his front legs and Dust tail had pinned his front. Even as he tried to use his little Claws he didn´t managed it to get free.

All over the while, Half star had begun to swallow the blood of the apprentice and spilled it out to the side. After a few times did so he stopped and said to Dust tail.

" Now take him as quickly as possible back to Camp and tell Black tooth what happened. "

" And You?" Dust tail asked back.

" I´m coming later. Go!"

Without more said, Dust tail took Hawk paw into his Mouth and ran back towards the Camp. Meanwhile Half star ran towards the river, which was luckily nearby. There he washed his mouth and Paws and once he had done that he searched for some snakeroot which he luckily found quickly. He ate a few of them and only a moment later he puked.

* BLUR * " Such a shame...." * BLUR * " The mouse had tasted so good."

In the morning, he had stolen some fresh-kills from the fresh-kill pile and now he had spilled them out to avoid to be poisoned. Once he was sure that he had nothing left in his stomach, he ran back towards the Camp.

When he reached it, he heard some whisperings from the inside and once he had passed the entrance tunnel he saw that a bunch of Cats had gathered around the entrance of the medicine Cats den.

He quickly ran there also and once he reached it, he heard a loud protest Meowing from the inside of the den.

" MY LEG HURTS !!!"

It was the Voice of Hawk Paw and a stone dropped down from Half stars' heart.

He made it. He thought and began to strike out a way through the mass.

" I know that it hurts but it has to hurt. It's a really good sign my Little one. " He heard Black tooth saying and once he had made it through the masses he saw her, leaning over his apprentice, letting some liquid drop down from her mouth, onto his leg.

" Stop moving. " She said after Hawk Paw had moved his leg a bit.

" I can´t. It hurts so much. " Hawk Paw answered.

" Let me help you. " Half star said and moved next to the Medicine Cat.

The kit got shocked and tried to move away while he nearly screamed out.

" NO! PLEASE! DON´T BITE ME!"

" HOLD STILL YOU MOUSEBRAIN! HE SAVED YOU WITH THIS BITE!" Black tooth Meowed loud back, letting the apprentice stop moving.

" R.... Really?" He asked after he had gathered some thoughts.

" Really! If he hadn´t bite you and had swallowed some blood, you would surely right now run together with our ancestors in Star clan. "

WOUW! That was hard! Half star thought while he slowly moved to the kit who began to look at the Medicine Cat in pure fear.

" Calm down little one. She overacts a bit. You had not been in danger. I only wanted to be sure that you are not.... " Half star tried to calm the situation but the kit broke out in tears before he could finish.

He felt sorry for him as he fixed the leg with his own and when Black tooth began to let more liquid flow down on the leg, he felt even more sorry because of the pain that the kit had to go through.

Does my Mentor had felt this way when he did that to me also? He thought while he looked over the in pain shacking Body.

" MY KIT!!! WHERE IS HE ???"

Wild berry Claw had come back from her hunting patrol and Dust tail had told her of what had happened. Now she came running into the den and once she entered and saw Hawk Paw she began to scream.

" NO!!! PLEASE!!! NOT HIM ALSO !!!"

She wanted to ran to his side but Half star stopped her by rolling his Back into her way saying.

" He is fine. Calm down or you will hurt him more with your actions. "

The Female Cat wanted to say something in hate but once she saw into Half Stars Eyes and saw herself, she came down and moved slowly to the side of Hawk Paw. Once there she laid down and licked the tear covered face.

Feeling the warmth and the love of his mother, the kit came finally down and began to drift into sleep. Once he slept and Black tooth had done her final actions, Wild berry said to Half star in a low Voice.

" Thank You for saving him again. From now on I will give all for you. Even my Life if I have to. "

"Me also. " Dust tail added from the entrance from where he had watched the whole scene together with some older cats and Sunshine Heart.

" Thanks but no thanks. I only did what I had to do. He is my apprentice and I have to look over him as long as he gets a Warrior Name and Star clan welcomes him as our Clan mate." Half star said with a bit sad look on his face.

" Alright everyone. Time to leave for you all. My Patient needs some quiet. " Black tooth said into the Air and everyone began to leave. Even Half star wanted to leave but she stopped him by saying. " Not you. I have to do some checkups on you also."

Without a word of regret, Half star followed her instructions and stopped in place.

" Lay down there and wait for me. "

Black tooth pointed with her tail over to the nest in where he had slept the last nights. Again he followed her instructions and laid down on the fresh moss. Once he laid, Black tooth came back to him with some herbs in his mouth and dropped them in front of him.

" Eat them." She said.

He looked at the herbs first and then he looked at her saying.

" I don´t need them. I have already eaten a few before I came back to camp. "

The Medicine Cat looked with a questioning look at him before she asked.

" How do you know that all? I thought that you are a Star and not a Medicine Cat. "

"I am or I was a Star but to tell the truth. In my youth I .... Well.... Let me say that I was hunted by accidents. "

" What kind of accidents?" The Medicine Cat looked at him with sharp thin Eyes.

" Well... HAH.... " The Memories were hurting him. " When I was at his age I got bitten by a snake just like him. " It was.... HAH.... A warm night as one of these slicky Beasts managed it to come into the Nursery of my camp. My mother was the only Queen at that time and when it happened she was on the Dirt place while me and my sister were sleeping in peace until I woke up from a noise and saw that these Beast wanted to bite my sister. I screamed " Snake attack " as loud as I could and jumped at it to protect my sister. "

His Claws began to unsheathe slowly.

" I managed it to distract the snake but in return she bit me in my left front leg before my posterior Mentor entered the den to kill her. Once he had done it he.... Well.... He did the same things to me as I did and that had burned into my Memories and today I had to use it myself. "

Thanks Stripe Star. He thought to thank his Mentor in Star clan.

" I see. Seems like that luck is your permanent companion. "

"Not even slightly. " He said with anger in his Voice.

" Hmm.... Anyways. Hawk Paw is lucky that he had you. Otherwise he would be death right now. Even if it was a slight wound. "

"Will he become alright again?"

" Thanks to you yes but he has to stay a few Sun highs at my side. You nearly bit trough his entire leg. "

" WHAT? I thought that.... " He started but was cut by a laugh of Black tooth.

" HAHAHA.... Got Ya. "

" TSK...Medicine Cats. "

5 Sun high's later

The last few Days had been some kind of boring for Half star. He had slept at the side of Hawk Paw and his mother for 2 Sun high's before he went into the Warriors den. There he had been hit by a Wall of distrust and hate because it was somehow split into two regions. One was the zone of the 10 respected Warriors of Night Star and the other were those of the rest. At that side, Half star had placed his nest and had always listened to everyone. At that way he found out that nearly every one of the Warriors of the rest was hating Night Star but he couldn't make any efforts out of it.

Today had been a bit different. In the morning he had been allowed to go to hunt together with 2 other Warriors and while they were hunting he made it to become their friend. Now they were carrying each one a mouse or a bird in their mouth towards their Camp. Once inside they dropped them on the Fresh-kill pile and began to speak.

" Are you going to visit your apprentice now?" Raven Wing, an all in all black furred Tom asked Half star.

" Yes I do. I hope that he can leave the Nursery soon and go back into the apprentice den. "

" OH you are such a lucky Cat. I wish that I´ve had an Apprentice right now. " Broken Claw, a little female Cat with Brown fur and a long Black stripe on her chest, said from the side.

"Don´t worry my dear. There will be a time with more Apprentices. " Raven Wing said to her and licked her check.

" I know but.... With this fat .... " She stopped because right at that moment Mud mouth came to the fresh-kill pile to eat.

The three didn´t talked on. Half star left towards the nursery while Raven Wing and his Mate walked towards the Warriors den. Once Half star entered the nursery he heard a familiar Voice from inside.

" Please Black tooth. It´s so Boring in here. My leg doesn´t hurts anymore. "

It was Hawk Paw who was protesting against Black tooth's orders.

" I said no. Your Wound has to heal completely first before I let you go. " Came as a nerved answer from Black tooth.

" But I..... "

Hawk Paw stopped because he saw that Half star entered the den and immediately he said to him once he was in.

" Please Half Face help me. it´s so boring in here. Can I go out with you? Please."

The young Apprentice laid a look on that was able to break stones and Half star felt really sorry for him when he said.

" I would lovely do that but you heard Black tooth. "

" PLEASE !!!!"

The Apprentice had a tear in his Eyes and was about to cry.

" ÄÄÄÄHHHMMMM....Maybe...... " Half star began to play with a thought and immediately the apprentice was on full attention.

" Yes?"

Half star moved to Black tooth who had joined the two and whispered something into her Ear. Once done, she did a deep breath before she said to Half star.

" As for me but not for long! The wound is fresh closed and I don´t want to close it again. "

" Don´t worry. I know what I´m doing. " Half star said back and turned to Hawk Paw.

The young Apprentice was sitting upright in his nest and waited for Half stars' assignment.

" OK my Apprentice. You can come out with me.... " Half star had to stop because the kit screamed a loud

" YES !!!"

But before he could do a jump in happiness, Half star stopped him by saying.

".... But we will not play something or walk together. "

" WHAT? " The apprentice got shocked. " Why not? What should I do then outside? "

" You will do some training with me or better said You will train your hurt Leg to let it become strong again. "

" How?" Half star had got the full attention of Hawk paw back.

" I show you but in return you have to promise me something. "

" What?"

" Stop going on to nerve Black tooth. She only does her work to cure you. "

" I Promise it .... I´m sorry Black tooth. "

" NAH.... Just go. " Was Black tooth answer while she left the two.

" Good. Now relax. "

* Soft Bite *

Half star began to carry the kit in his mouth. He carried him over the hole Area to the Camp entrance and once outside of it he dropped him saying.

" Now come on. Jump on my back. "

He laid himself next to the kit and helped him upwards his back. Once there he moved up and began to walk.

" Where are we going?"

"You will see. "

Half star walked for around 5 minutes until they reached their destination. The River, in were Half star had saved his Apprentice. When Half star began to move close to the River, he felt that Hawk paw began to shake on his back and when he entered it, he felt that the Apprentice moved itself into a protective Ball.

The Water already reached his stomach when Half star stopped and meow.

" Now it´s time for your training. Get down from my back. "

" No. " Came back like a whisper. " I will not...... I will die in here !!!"

"Well.... If not the easy way, then the hard way. "

Half star lowered his Body until only his Head was over the water. In return he felt that Hawk paw jumped up on his back when the water moved over it but the Apprentice had some problems to stabilize his stand because of his bad leg. That was why he dropped to the side and into the River.

Immediately, the Apprentice began to move wildly, not recognizing that Half star was helping him. He had moved one Paw under the Stomach of his Apprentice and protected him from sinking but also from moving.

It took the Apprentice some Heartbeats to recognize that he didn't moved and at that moment he felt Half Stars Paw on his stomach. He turned his Head towards his Mentor and once he saw his face, Half star said.

" Finally recognized that you are not in danger? Good. Now slow down your movements. "

Hawk Paw followed the instruction and lowered slowly his moving's.

" Good. Now try to run like you did on land. "

Again Hawk Paw followed, still not sure of his Mentor tried teach him.

" Fine, fine. Now lower your tail until it is straight in line with the water. "

Hawk Paw became finally known to the situation.

He teaches me of how to swim. He thought.

" OK. Now keep all that on and don´t get shocked. I´ll let you free now but don´t worry. I will be always standing next to you. " Half star said and lowered slowly his Paw.

Immediately Hawk Paw began somehow to panic again and struggled until Half star placed his Paw back under his stomach.

" Alright, alright. Maybe I´m a bit too fast. I´ll bring you back to land. " *Bite *

He had grabbed the Apprentice with his mouth and carried him to the land. There he dropped the young one on a stone to let him become dry and warm from the sun.

The Apprentice shacked his Body heavily and water shot everywhere. Once he had finished that, he laid himself on the stone and looked at Half star, who did some shakings a bit away from him.

" Why did you did that with me?" Hawk Paw asked when Half star came back.

" What? The swim Training?" Half star asked back and Hawk Paw nodded a yes in return.

" Well. The answer is simple. You wanted to go out with me to train and this training is now the best for you. Besides.... It is always good to fight some fears. "

" I´m not .... " The Apprentice wanted to contradict but then he let it because Half star was right. He had feared the water because of the things that had happened to him.

A few heartbeats of silence were going on before....

* GROWL *

.... The stomach of his apprentice became alive and he blushed in shame.

"HAHAHA.... Looks like someone is hungry. " Half star said laughing.

Hawk Paw nodded a yes.

" Well... Then I guess that I have to go on a little hunt then. You wait here and recover some warmth. When I´m back and we 2 have eaten, we will go on with the training. "

Once said, Half star left Hawk paw and disappeared behind another stone.

Sun high came and Hawk paw began to fear that something had happened because he had never been that long alone. On each rustle he turned his Head or his Ear to scan the surrounding until finally he caught Half stars' scent in the Air.

Half star showed up behind the stone again with a Mouse and a blackbird in his mouth. Slowly he moved over to the Apprentice and dropped the kills in front of him.

" Now take yours and eat but eat all. " Half star said and sat himself down in front of Hawk paw.

The mouse was fat and Hawk paw wanted to eat her but then he stopped because of Half stars' words. He thought for a second and then he took the Bird and began to eat it.

" Wise choice. It seems like that you are beginning to think like a true Warrior. " Half star said while he also began to eat.

Once they both had finished, half star carried Hawk paw back to the River and there he took on teaching his Apprentice until the evening came. When the night began to came, Half star took the Apprentice back on his back and walked with the now slowly to sleep dropping Kit towards home. What he didn´t knew was that he had been spied.

Sunshine heart and 2 Warriors from another Clan, of the opposite of the River, had watched nearly the whole scenario. Sunshine Heart had begun to think of that Half star would made a perfect father figure and had somehow begun to play with the thought of him and her and a family.

The 2 Warriors had nearly the same thoughts but they also thought and said the following while they watched.

"Do you think that he is the one that we are ordered to wait for?" The first Warrior, a Blue Tom with slight green stipes asked the second Warrior a White Tom with Blue Ear tips.

" I don´t know for sure. We need to test him to get sure. " The White Tom answered.

" Can we not find it out in a different way than Light star told us?"

" If you know a better way then spill it out. "

The Blue Tom didn´t said something in return and together they ran back to their Camp.
