Prologue

During the face of adversity, we must cling to hope â€" General Orius Potemkin â€" Terran Military General â€" 2123 - 2145

With the removal of Terra's threat and the preparations made by both Diamond and Obsidian, the Asgard quickly moved to conquer both planets of Terra and Silmeria. The "Gods" forced the people of both planets into slavery and forced them into mines while using their "Aesir", terrible wraith like beings to keep order while they stayed in their domain on-board their Asgardian Capital Ship. Silmeria's military and space production facilities were powerless against the ships being created by the Asgard that seemed to exist outside of the space-time continuum and were overpowered and dismantled with ease. However there was still some hope of resistance...

The Anti-Asgard weaponry on-board a few ships had been able to destroy a handful of the small Asgardian ships but the Silmerian Military still had no idea how the Asgard were creating these ships so fast. A ground resistance on Silmeria was organised by ex-commander Ironheart who had abandoned Gateway station after Ada's resurrection.

With most of the Silmerian fleet destroyed, only one small ship remained, however with a devoted crew, the Terra Nova had become a serious thorn in the side of the Gods, armed with Anti-Asgard weaponry, this single ship, although battered reverted to hit and run tactics on Asgard stations and ships.

Chapter 1 â€" Unforeseen Consequences

"One's Chances of Redemption are slim, if they know not their evils" - Prior Argus Salvitor â€" Terran Religious Leader â€" 2105 - 1276

Location: Terra Nova â€" Registration KT-5453 â€" Type: Defensive Corvette â€" Race: Silmerian

"How the hell did all this gas get inside" shouted Eclypse as he walked through the dense purple fog which was now surrounding the small, cramped metal corridor he was walking down. The fog was completely obscuring his vision of what was ahead, he looked down inside the protective helmet he was wearing.

"12 Minutes of Air" he said to himself as he reached for one of the wall mounted control panels and switch it on.

The inside of the Silmerian corvette Terra Nova was very cramped and industrial, broken conduits hung from the ceiling, water dripped from the cooling tanks above Eclypse's head. This vessel had seen more then its fair share of combat, it was a damaged ship, in need of constant repair.

"Bridge... I cannot release the mag-locks" said Eclypse as his voice grew frustrated. A male voice came through the speakers inside his helmet.

"I'm trying to transfer some power to the ventilation ship, its a wonder that this ship doesn't fall apart with all the repairs I've had to make..."

"Hy! Can you do it or not?" interrupted Eclypse as he continued pushing buttons on the wall.

The voice paused and Eclypse heard nothing until Hy eventually spoke back to him. "Power is rerouted, that is the best your going to get..."

"Right... disengaging mag-locks now!"

A massive clunk was heard as the ventilation ducts opened automatically to release the gas out of the ship. The purple gas began to flood through the gates, like an insect towards a light source. Eclypse breathed a sigh of relief, they had averted disaster... again.

The next day, Eclypse sat round a large table. He was in a large room with huge open windows that looked out in a large purple abyss, he wondered how long they were going to be in this nebula to conduct repairs but with only a small crew to work with, it took forever to get anything fixed.

"Look!" said someone storming into the room. Eclypse looked up at the fox who entered into the room, he had light orange fur and had a green bandanna round his head, he stared at Eclypse with his large blue eyes. "I did not mind it so much when we came here! But I'm going STIR CRAZY in this place!"

Elcypse looked away from the window which had distracted his gaze, to watch the fox in front of him walk over to the table and sit down with a disgruntled look on his face. He stared at the foxes combats that he was wearing, he wondered if he ever wore anything different.

"Silver... I understand your position..."

"Do you really!?" interrupted Silver, staring at Eclypse in annoyance. "Can you honestly say you do? You homeworld is annexed... Mine might be next! We need to get back out fighting the Asgard bastards!"

"Hy doesn't think that we would..."

"Fuck what Hy thinks... that engineer is always over cautious!" Silver cut in again. Eclypse understood his frustration, they had been within this nebula for months after a battle with three Asgard cruisers that they barely escaped from. The crew had become a little restless from this extended period in this nebula.

"Are you going to let me finish?" asked Eclypse calmly while looking at Silver simply smirk at that remark and say "No"

Eclypse sighed, he moved over to a small control panel embedded within the table. "Hy, can we see you a minute" he asked into it.

A few moments later, a white tiger walked into the room, he was only weaning a pair of black jeans with a jacket with different types of marks and grime stained onto it. He stared at Silver and then at Eclypse.

"When do you think you'll have us space-worthy again...?"

Hy stared at Eclypse and got a slight feeling that he was going to be ganged up on. "Well... engines are fine... but unless you want no shields... probably another week..."

Silver groaned in defiance of this.

"We don't need the shields... we can survive without them"

"What are you talking about... we'll be shot to pieces" shouted Hy, raising his temper at Silver who stared at him coldly through his one eye as the other was covered with an eye patch he had received during a previous skirmish.

"Well... It's better then sitting here waiting for dea..."

Eclypse knew exactly what Silver was going to say them and quickly intervened for the sake of moral aboard the ship.

"Guys..." he said, looking from Silver to Hy compassionately before taking a large and deep breath. "I both understand where you are coming from... however is it possible to get partial shields back on if you concentrated on them now?"

Hy nodded.

"Good... then we leave tomorrow... we have to get back into open space... find allies against the Asgard. We also have to make contact with the resistance on Silmeria, we cannot do this alone or unprepared."

"And who made you the leader?" said Silver staring down at Eclypse with his one brown eye. Eclypse pondered this question, he had never desired leadership but his experience with the Asgard made him the perfect man for the job. He had started to recover fragments of his memory, specifically of his "birth" in the lab on-board the Asgardian mothership. He was beginning have flashes of memory, some of which had proved useful against the Asgardian battlecruisers that had mercilessly attempted to hunt him down.

However now was not the time to dwell on that. He stared back up at Silver with a determined glare.

"I did not ask to make the decisions but since you guys won't stop arguing... I will" he sneered while looking between Hy and Silver. Hy just raised his hands in submission.

"I want to be out there fighting for our freedom as much as you" submitted Hy, his tail twitched in the heat of the debate. "But we are not gonna get anywhere with a broken ship, look, I'll concentrate on the shields now and have 'em up and running by tomorrow."

"Thank you" said Silver, looking up at the ceiling with his hands in the air. He turned to leave and go back onto the damaged "bridge."

The bridge was small room that was built on a slant, it had two stations at the bottom of the slant that were built in front of massive series of glass windows that gave excellent visibility into the surrounding space. Behind that was a series of steps the led up to two other consoles that were built out on "balcony" like structures also looking out onto the massive windows and swirling pink and purple gases that made up this nebula. The whole bridge had an "industrial" type feel to it, water frequently dripped from the tanks built into the ceiling. The Terrans would have called this design a biological hazard however Silmerian were less picky with ship designs. At the console down, near the window, a grey female wolf was sat tinkering with the controls, she looked flustered and was wearing a green tank-top to cover her breasts and a light colour skirt that was knee-length. She had blue eyes and long brown hair that fell down to her shoulders.

"Having trouble?" asked Silver as he casually climbed into the other station to the side of her and looked out into the nebula. The wolfian turned to look at him and smiled. "How did the talk with Eclypse go?"

"I'm quite surprised really" said Silver, reaching for a space behind on of the monitors on the console and pulling out a large cigar. "I mean, he's pretty much declared himself leader, he's a real dickhead..."

The female wolf began to laugh as she continued working on the controls. "Well... he got us out of that scrape... if he had not got us out of that fight, I dunno what would of happened."

Silver nodded and lit his cigar, puffing on it gently and exhaling. Silver knew exactly what incident Annuka was referring to. He remembered that Terra Nova was making its usual cargo run to Gateway station when they discovered that it was under attack by the Asgard. They had strayed into the fight and were about to be attacked when a mysterious rat had boarded their vessel through some means, come to the bridge and told their captain to rotate their shields to specific frequency to help delay their weapons. They managed to escape however not before a blast crippled the ship and took out their captain.

Silver sighed, he lost a lot of friends that day, the Terra Nova's crew was ten and it had been reduced to five people. "Yeah... Yeah... I know"

Annuka glanced at him. "Don't be so hard on him then... he's looked out for us countless times during the last year"

Silver nodded... "Y'know, the sight of you all strapped up in that chair... just"

Annuka let out a sigh. "Dream on Flyboy"
