Avi p.o.v

I jerk awake in the middle of the night and see Ian resting his head on my chest. He looks so cute sleeping, but it scares me to know that deep down within him, something of pure evil is residing within him. I slowly sneak away and walk towards the bathroom, looking at the mirror Ian broke. I couldn't help but remember Ian screaming then punch the mirror. Even when we had sex it seemed that he wasn't in the mood, that he was only doing it for me. It's obvious that he's found out about the thing hiding within him, so there's no point in withholding what really happened at the courthouse with him. It only saddens me that he has to fight this thing within him, and it may just only get harder as time passes by.

I go into the living room and sit next to Braxton's sleeping body, and I channel surf until I see the same Spongebob episode that came on when Ian was staying with me. I watched it and enjoyed the silly cartoon, remembering the good old days of being a kid; being ignorant to the real world. I couldn't help but remember Ian's goofy smile while watching this, his green eyes bright and full of life despite the fact that he only wanted to kill himself only days before. Now his eyes are dim, that light fading away. It's obvious that he's changed because of all that he's been through, but it seems as if his depression, his darkness has manifested itself into another personality, one more destructive and powerful than his parents combined. It could be that deep down; Ian is just like his parents.

Unable to go to sleep I walk outside and open the trunk of the jeep, and then the trunk of the van, and I began to move the contents in the van to the jeep in case we needed to make a fast getaway. I doubt that we'll be able to stay here, seeing as how the police will be sweeping through the area soon as it isn't very far from where they last saw us, maybe within ten miles. And we also have to go and get Merissa, if she's there for too long then it's possible that she may spill out our plans or even worse, she may be charged and sent to prison. I finish packing up the jeep and place the keys inside the visor. I close the door and walk inside the house, being sure to lock the door, and I slowly creep back into bed with Ian to try to get some sleep.

I wake up and see Ian sleeping next to me, his cute face resting peacefully, a bit too peacefully as the love of my life is snoring quite loudly. I'm surprised I even slept through that. I casually caress his hair with the back of my hand, twirling the pink mess with my finger. I rub his head just enjoy the moment, enjoy being with my Ian.

Braxton walked in with a bag of ice on his forehead, grimacing. He walked over to me and Ian slugged Ian's arm. Ian bolted awake and let out an annoyed, "Ow!" rubbing his arm. "The hell was that for?"

"That was for punching me yesterday where I just recently got shot at, and also for putting coke in my mouth even though I told you not to," Braxton answered. "Quite frankly I should've punched you in the face but I refrained from it. The hell were you thinking?"

"All I wanted was for you to just shut up; I didn't want to hear your crying while I was trying to fix you up. Plus I see that you're doing better, with me to thanks to me!" Ian shot back defensively.

"Well I'm pretty sure that you didn't have to put drugs in my body to help bandage my wound! For all you know I could become addicted to cocaine because of you!"

"Oh spare me they would've had you on morphine if you went to the hospital, this was just a cheaper and easier way to relive your pain despite our current circumstances. Now, right now, do you crave some more coke?"

"No," Braxton replied. "But still, it's a highly addictive substance that--"

"Will you ladies shut up?!" I screamed, vexed by their ongoing bickering. "We have more important things to discuss like when are we getting out of here and how are we going to get Merissa!"

Ian and Braxton glared at one another before looking away and Ian walking towards the door, slamming it shut behind then. "So what will we do now?" Braxton asked.

"We'll talk about it over breakfast," I said, calming down a little and going outside to get some cereal.

I walked over to Ian who was sitting on the steps, his knees pulled in close to his chest. "What was that for Ian?" I asked.

"Me?!" he responded surprised. "He's the one who started it!"

"But you only made it worse Ian, you made it escalate it further," I replied in an authoritative tone.

"He fucking hit me!" he exclaimed. "The fuck do you want me to do, stand there and let him smack me around? Well I don't think so! And why are you taking his side and not mine? You're my boyfriend, best friends till the end. I feel so betrayed right now!" he stormed off inside, slamming the door behind him. I sat down and rubbed my eyes, wondering what I'm going to do with him. I open the trunk of the jeep and pulled out a few cereal boxes, including Ian's favorite cereal: honey bunches of oats with almonds. I walk inside and lay the cereal on the table; then I go to Braxton who was in the living room watching the early morning news.

"Why did you have to go and hit Ian?" I inquired with a stern tone.

"You saw what he did to me yesterday!" he started. "The damn bastard slugg--"

"First of all that 'bastard' is my boyfriend, and second of all, that was so immature of you to do that. You're the older one so act like it!" I argued. "And he helped you with your wound and pain didn't he? You could've made that...monster come out of him and kill us. Don't make Ian angry, and let him help however he can; he's going through a tough time right now. We all are."

"Fine, I'll appease Ian, but I'm doing it for myself, not for either of you," Braxton reluctantly agreed.

"Good," I said, "now go and sit at the table, we have important business to discuss. He went to the table and I walked over to the room and tried to turn the bronze knob, but it was locked.

"Ian!" I called as I knocked on the door, "Let me in!"

"No!" he yelled back, "Go away! I don't want to talk to you. Either of you."

"Oh come on," I pleaded, then I looked down in my hand and realized that I forgot to put the honey bunches of oats on the table. I started shaking the box and teased, "I have honey bunches of oats."

I could imagine his ears perking up at the sound of hearing his favorite cereal was right outside the door. "With almonds?" he asked curiously.

"You bet," I answered. "And don't worry, I talked to Braxton and he'll apologize to you for starting this mess."

Ian opened the door slowly and cautiously, peeking his head out and looking down at the box of cereal in my hand. I lifted the box to verify it was indeed his favorite cereal. Once Ian scanned it with his beautiful green eyes, which were sparkling from the morning sun, he came out and hugged me, really tight, like a bear hug. I hugged him back and rubbed his back, soothing him. "Come on, let's eat," I told him

We walked into the kitchen together, hand in hand, and sat down next to each other with Braxton sitting in front of us. The two glanced at each other then turned away. Ian eagerly poured him a bowl of cereal while Braxton and I casually poured the cereal in the bowl. Ian passed me the half empty gallon of vitamin D milk, and I flooded my cereal with the white liquid. Braxton got up and withdrew three spoons from the silverware drawer. He handed me two then I gave one to Ian. Ian happily dug in while I started to eat my raisin brand.

"So, how are we going to get Merissa?" Braxton inquired casually, playing with his cereal before eating a spoonful.

"I'm not really sure, but we have to get her today, and it would have to involve sneaking into the police department, which is a trap within itself," I replied, but not answering the question. We all sat in silence before Ian snapped his finger with an idea.

"We should get some fire crackers, and go into the police station. We'll need someone to shut off the generators so that it's as dark as possible, so we need to do this at night. Then we light the fire crackers and throw them to stimulate gunshots going off, and the police will duck and cover trying to find the perpetrator to return the fire to. We get the keys, and go to Merissa's cell, and then get her the hell out of there. It should only take about three minutes," Ian advised, beaming.

"That plan is so ridiculous it just might work," Braxton praised, crossing his arms and nodding at Ian.

"I saw it in a movie," Ian replied gaily.

"How are we supposed to get the firecrackers then?" I asked, making sure that this plan is foolproof.

"There's a TNT store nearby," Ian answered. "We can just break in and steal whatever they have left from New Year's. I mean we're already criminals, so breaking more laws wouldn't do us any harm."

"Alright then, it's a date," I said. "We'll go to the station at around eight and go get us some firecrackers before then." We finished eating up our cereal then we all waited until show time.

We decided to leave at around five, I would be driving, and I placed Ian and Braxton in the back so they could mend their relationship despite their protests. The trip was rather quiet as I drove down the road, heading towards the TNT store. I looked around and saw that we were surrounded by farmland on the left and forest on the right, and was glad that we were in such a remote location. I was grateful in that there were no police around, and hopefully they thought that we left the state by now. We can't afford to be America's most wanted right now, they would have posters of us everywhere and a substantial reward for information leading to our arrest, and that cannot happen. I was separated from Ian once; I won't let it happen again.

When we finally got there, we hopped out the car, and we went to the door of the empty store. Ian pulled a bobby pin out of his hair and went to work on the door. With enough fidgeting we heard a _click_and the door was unlocked. I got a flashlight and opened the door, turning the flashlight on and looking around the empty store. The store looked abandoned with the fireworks everywhere. Braxton got a bag and we started grabbing what we needed. I looked around for the firecrackers as we planned, and I eventually found some in the back. They came in long ropes attached to one another, like the bullets you would put into a mounted machine gun. I must've grabbed at least a thousand of them before toting them back up front. While there I saw Braxton grab a few lighters, and Ian had some roman candles and the really big ones that shot up into the sky. "What the hell are you doing?" I asked in disbelief. "You're not going to actually use those are you?"

"Why don't we give them one hell of a show!" Ian said enthusiastically, grinning menacingly. I just rolled my eyes and just went on with it. We carried the payload out to the jeep and packed it all up; then we rolled out. I was driving again, towards the city, and the sun was down, but it wasn't fully dark yet, so we stopped at a gas station and waited.

"Okay so here's the plan," Ian started, "Braxton is going to shut off the power by destroying their power supply. So anything that looks like it may supply the station with power fuck it up. Once the power is out Avi and I sneak in and use the firecrackers to distract them. While they're distracted, I'll get behind the administrative desk and push the button that'll release the prisoners. We go in and find Merissa and get her the hell out of there. Braxton, I want you to steal us another car in case they find out that we're using the jeep. We get the hell out of there and rendezvous back at the cabin. Any questions?"

"Yes just one. What if they have backup generators and floodlights come on?" Braxton asked curiously. "What will we do then?"

"Well," Ian began, "What do you thing the fireworks are for? Just point and shoot at them, then the real fun will begin." I'm glad I couldn't see him; I didn't want him to see him slowly lose his mind. The stuff that he was saying was crazy; he was bound to get someone killed. But I just remained silent, not objecting to him.

"I think we should wait until later in the night, like at one in the morning when the police department will not be so busy," Braxton said. "That way we won't encounter as much resistance."

"Yes, but there won't as many civilians either," Ian replied. "They aren't going to open fire with civvies in there."

I couldn't help it and I turned around, facing Ian. "But what if they do?! What if they open fire and we have to fight back?! Would you risk an innocent person's life?!" I asked furiously, tired of his craziness, willing to put people's lives in danger for something that doesn't involve them.

I saw his eyes, and when he blinked, they changed red, and all reminisce of my mate was gone, replaced by this demonic creature. He turned his head and gave me a crooked smile. "Gladly."
