Ch. 5 What should have been left alone.
"Its a bunker door!"
"Yeah but why did they hide it?"
"Dunno. Hey sarge you might wan't to look at this!"
The sargent ran over.
"What is that doing there?"
"We aren't sure sir it was under the water."
Furs began to gather around.
"Men were there any underground facilities in the maps!?!"
All the furs shook their heads.
"Allright then Max, Alex, Eric, Dawson,Sebastian and Troy get that door open and see whats down there!"
We set to work right away undoining the hatch and opening the door. when it finally opened a foul smell drifted out.
"Ugh!! It smells like something died down there!" Eric yelled out.
there was a rusty ladder built into the wall bellow and we started to climb down. What we found still horrifies me to this day.
When we reached the bottom and turned on our assault rifles flashlights the first thing we saw was the bodies. About ten bodies full of maggots that looked like they had been ripped apart by some wild animal. Eric threw up. We all followed suit. After we were done throwing up all over each other we heard something.
"What was that!?!" Eric yelled out.
"We turned our flashlights toward the direction of the sound and saw a wolf covered in blood sitting in a corner. He was wimpering and was cut in several places.
"Sir? I started but then stopped when he turned around. He was missing and eye and part of his nose, blood dripping down his jagged teeth. Suddenly he was gone.
"Who the fuck was that!?!" Alex said.
"I don't know but did you see his face?"
"Yeah, what the hell happened down here?"
"Hey, weres Sebastian?"
"There he is!" Said Troy pointing to a corner.
Sebastian was staring at something in front of him.
"Come on Sebastian lets get out of here!"
Suddenly sebastian fell over a hole right through his stomach.
"WTF!?!" We all yelled out. Suddenly Sebastian started to get up.
"Sebastian... Are you all right?" Eric asked staring at the wolf.
Sebastian turned around. He had an odd look on his face as though he did not see the gaping hole where his stomach used to be.
He stared at us for a few seconds and then he lunged at Troy an odd noise coming from his throat. It sounded like he was being strangled. Troy fired his gun at him but he kept going. He tackled Troy and bit a large peice of his throat out. Blood started gushing out of what was left of Troys throat. I fired my rifle at Sebastians head blowing it clean off. Sebastians headless body instantly fell over spilling guts all over the floor. Troy was already dead.
"What the hell just happened!?!"
"Guys something really bad happened down here and I'm not sticking around to find out."
As he turned around we heard an earsplitting howl. I turned and saw Troy was back on his feet but something was wrong with him. His eyes still had a dead look to them yet he was standing right there in front of us as though he hadn't even been touched.
Without hesitation Eric fired ripping five holes through Troy and sending him flying backwards.
For five seconds it apeared to be over but then troy got back up and started walking torward us limping from all the bullets he had taken.
"I'm getting the fuck out of here!!" Eric yelled.
He turned but we saw that other furs with many different wounds and parts missing were walking torwards us. Making it impossible to get to the exit.
"What the hell should we do!!" eric was crying now.
I looked around and saw a vent above us. I shot it open and jumped up, catching the rim and pulling myself up.
"Come on you guys!!" I yelled from inside the vent.
A few seconds later Alex pulled himself in turning around to help Eric up. Dawson poked his head in but got pulled roughly back down by the unseen enemies. we tried to help him but we were to late. We heard him yelling and firing off rounds but suddenly all was silent except for the strange noises the enemies made.
"What the fuck just happened!?!"Alex said.
"I'm guessing this must have been some sort of bio-lab and something wen't wrong."
"Wait are you saying those things are zombies?" Eric said.
"More along the line of mutants."
We suddenly heard a fierce ticking noise.
"Whats that?"
"Just my watch" said Eric.
"It has a built in...Geiger counter."
"We turned around and saw through anover vent a room that was full of the mutants.
"Holy shit!! How many are there!?!"
"I don't know but I found Dawson pointing to a fur missing half his face and his torso.
Eric threw up again.
"What should we do?"
"Who had the radio?"
We suddenly heard a voice somewhere below" Boys what the hell is going on down there? I'm sending reinforcements to your position over.
"We are either saved or theres going to be a hell of alot more mutants" Eric said and started to whimper.
After five minutes we heard voices.
"How the hell did this happen?"
"I don't know-... Hey who the hell are you!?!"
Suddenly we heard the rattling of a sub-machine gun.
"What was that?"
"It looks like a fur-Aghh!!!!"
"Get up here" we yelled down to the remaining fur.
After a few seconds and some gun shots a husky pulled himself in.
"Those things got my partner!! We shot at them but it didn't kill them!"
"What the hell are they!?!"
"We think that this may have been some sort of lab and that something happened to the people down here."
"What the-.. There he is! Hey Smokey-..."
the one he called Smokey had his guts ripped out so that the shredded remains were dripping blood all over the floor.
The fur puked on the floor of the vent and sat up panting.
"Hey..Pant,pant..Wheres the rest of the guys?"
"Same as Smokey.."
"Ohh.... My name is RiverClaw by the way."
"A native eh? I thought your people didn't wan't anything to do with the war?"
"I was forced to leave my family" he said with a growl.
"Well RiverClaw it looks like we are stuck here-.. Hey is that a radio?"
"Yeah I picked it up before I got up here."
"Let me see it" I said taking it from his outstretched paw.
"Sargent abort mission repeat abort mission!!!" I yelled but all we heard was static.
"Hey Alex did they leave that door open?"
"Umm. Yeah."
"Oh shit......."
