My name is Atemis. I am an umbreon, and a retired rescuer. I was part of a team of two, and my partner was a sylveon named Sil, who I've known since we were both eevees, and evolved around the same time. We've always tried to keep our relationship on a friendship based level, though there are times when we become more intimate. It was only after our evolution when we began discussing forming a rescue team, and it wasn't long before we came to the conclusion. We called ourselves Team Luna, and we eventually became known throughout the pokemon world, until a little... accident that we refuse to speak of. Long story short, I was rendered powerless, unable to use even the most basic attacks. And as everyone knows, a pokemon who can't attack can't survive.I figured Sil would continue solo, but she refused to rescue without me. In truth we haven't been apart since we've met, and we've always looked out for one another. She stayed with me and decided to continue her original work as a merchant. She even owns her own shop, and makes a decent profit. I decided to use the money we had saved to open a dojo in order to help other rescue teams or any pokemon that wishes to improve themselves. We currently live together, as we always have, although the home seems much too big for just the two of us. I do feel grateful for my life, despite the accident. I have a home, my own business, a best friend and occasional lover. But something feels like its missing. I just don't know what yet...~~~~~~It was early in the day, when everyone was just waking up, except for one it seemed. Atemis laid in his bed alone, and though he was already dressed, which just seemed to be a simple pair of black pants with the team logo, a crescent moon, on the belt buckle, and a chain dangling down just above the knees, he had no intention of getting up. And why would he? It was his day off.He seemed to be growing more depressed by the day. He just sat there, giving a depressing sigh as be rubbed the three scars on the right side of his chest. He almost jumped at the sound of a knock on his door. His sylveon friend entered. She was wearing her favorite sweater, fluffy and pink with the team logo on her chest. It was her casual outfit along with her blue mini skirt."Atty? Are you okay?" she asked, "You've been quiet all day.""Hey, Sil," the umbreon greeted, "I'm alright. It's nothing.""Are you sure?" The sylveon sat at his side and gently placed a hand on his own, staring at him with endearing, blue eyes. Atty gave a sigh before answering."I guess the retirement is finally setting in. I thought I'd be able to handle it, but I'm starting to miss the rescue

work.""It was fun," she added, "We've met a lot of pokemon, and made a lot friends. But those days are gone now. You shouldn't dwell on the past.""I know. I just feel like I've lost my purpose in life." He felt a hand on his cheek and was guided until he was looking her in the eyes again."I don't think so. You've always enjoyed helping others. Whether it's through rescue work or through teaching others, you've always been happiest helping people." Atty felt reassured and managed to crack a smile. "Now what do you say we make the best of this time off. Maybe visit one of our favorite spots? Like maybe the Sacred Fields?" She gave such an adorable smile, one that makes it impossible to say no. "It might make you feel better."~~~~~~Atemis was a little reluctant to go, but Sil's cuteness got the best of him, like it always did. But for some reason, he's been feeling strange around her lately. What is this feeling? Love perhaps? It seemed wrong, considering their oath to stay friends, despite intimate moments. His mind was racing, his head fuzzy. Hopefully the familiar scene would snap him out of it.They arrived at the Sacred Fields. It was beautiful. A gentle breeze blowing through the tall, lush green grass, surrounded by trees, except for the way they came, and a boulder so large, you could stand on it and see the town in the distance."I use to love coming here when I was an eevee," Sil's voice grabbed the umbreon's attention as she turned to him and continued, "Do you remember?" He replied with a nod."We've had some good times here." His sylveon companion looked towards the forest."I remember when you were to scared to jump down from that tree.""And you came up instead, so I wouldn't be alone." He stared at the particular tree. The memory seemed to haunt him for a moment. "That was also the same day I discovered my fear of heights." Sil only giggled."Yes, but at least the nice arkanine got us down.""And that was when we started thinking about making our own rescue team." Sil looked at him with those adoring eyes. His mind and heart began to race. 'There she goes again', he thought. 'Why does this keep happening?'"Those were good times, weren't they?" Atty cracked a smile with a nod, but suddenly frowned. Be sat down and gave a depressing sigh with his cheek resting against his fist. "What's wrong?""I was hoping this place would make me feel better. But its not." He started remembering why he was depressed in the first place. His sylveon companion sat next to him and gave the umbreon a warm, tight hug, as if she knew what he was thinking."I know its tough." He managed to return the hug.~~~~~~They spent most of the afternoon trying to enjoy the scenery. Sil broke the silence with a question."What was our first adventure again?""The baby shinx if I recall." Atty was quick to remember their first rescue. How could he forget it? It was the beginning of their shared dream. "I remember a luxio came to us by chance panicking about her baby sister wandering off, and somehow she ended up in a cavern surrounded by wild pokemon.""I wonder how they're doing now?""The the little shinx evolved and formed a rescue team of her own. Team Electro I think is the name.""I'm not surprised. You know she really looked up to you." Atty stared at her, giving a hint of doubt in his ruby eyes."Do you really think so?" She reassured him with a smile."I know so. I could tell you're that kids hero." He had a small moment of joy, but quickly turned into depression again."I don't feel much like a hero anymore." The sylveon gave him a playful nudge."Well, you are. The past hasn't changed. All those pokemon you helped will always cherish everything you've done for them." Looking at his companion again, Atty managed to crack a smile."Thanks, Sil.""Hey, what are friends for?" she happily stated. Something caught her attention in the distance. "Look. The sun's setting." He looked over in the distance to see the sun slowly descending, and the sky changing from blue to a mixture of orange and pink. Realizing how late it was getting, he stood up and stretched."I guess it's time to head back then. Unless you'd like to watch?" Sil nodded happily. Her umbreon companion sat back down to enjoy the view with her."Isn't it beautiful?""Yeah. But..' Atemis was becoming shy, and struggled to find the right words to express himself, " it's not the most beautiful thing I've ever seen." Sil was puzzled by his comment."Hmm? What's more beautiful than this?""Well..." His ears suddenly drooped as his cheeks became rosey. "She happens to be sitting next to me." The sylveon was hit hard by his reply. Her face began to turn red."Y.. you think I'm.... beautiful?" Her reaction seemed to inspire confidence in Atty as he smiled and continued."Always have." Sil seemed to be having trouble speaking to him now, as she now realized what he was really trying to say."I... I've always felt the same about you... but I didn't think you liked me the same way."

She looked away sheepishly. "You could easily have any pokemon you want." I could. But..." he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close, "the only one I want is you." She let out a giggle."You're so sweet, Atty.""Not nearly as sweet as you. You've always put me before yourself, and that means the world to me. I don't know what I'd do without you." She couldn't help but blush with a smile." You always protected me on our missions when things got rough. Seeing you stare down the enemy for me always made my heart flutter and even now you still protect me when I need it most." She felt her hands being touched, looking down to see his own smooth black hand holding her."Of course I do. I would die before I ever let something happen to you. Because..." he struggled more than he ever had before just trying to get the words out, "I love you." Sil's heart skipped several beats, overflowing with joy."Oh, Atty," it took all her willpower to keep herself from pouncing him. "I love you, too." She couldn't help but hug him, so tightly as if afraid to let him go, and planting her lips on his own to share a passionate kiss.
