While Lucius and the gang trek through the foothills, we will take a brief intermission. Back at the guild and west to Mt. N, we follow some other charictars.

Under the volcanic mt. N

"Sire. In three weeks, the town of Forest Hall will fall. We will be victorious."

The blue-white Pokémon that spoke into the darkness stood on a pedestal of stone. Many similar spires surrounded it, most of them unoccupied, all surrounding a central plateau. Or, it seemed to be a plateau. In reality, it was just another spire. It was three times bigger in diameter and more than twice as tall as the surroundings rock The blue-white pokemon, as massive as it was, had to look up to see its master. Even then, all he could see were those eviil, red eyes shining through the darkness. "Good," the voice behind the eyes said. The sound was as ifevery child's scream had been distilled and and had chocolate poured into it: Sweet on the outside, but chilling at its core. "That pesky fox and her prophecy ruined everything! Two hundred years we have been set back! Now, with her child destroyed, we will be able to conquer this world and the others! Just keep the guild mistress and the one known as Zoe alive. Only they can tell me where the cave is..."

Another pair of eyes appeared, this set blue. "Sire. Most of the prophesized children are on their first mission, to rescue Song. It is coming to pass..."

"Good job, Nightmare. Yuji, go intercept them. They mustn't find her, or the other prophesized..."

"Yes sire."

As the lava bubbled far below the three Pokemon, the voice behind the red eyes laughed. He used Shadow Force and for the first time, his form was visible to his servants. "The king of Darkness, Giratina," he cackled."I'm coming after you. Watch out, Daughter of Delphox. Watch out little riolu. Your little world is not so safe anymore..."

In the carnival Guild hall...

Days for Volcorona are slow. Or at least, usually. The Pokemon known as Volcy to her best friend (and, less lovingly, her son), knew that something was amiss when Bastiodon Guild came calling, sending Abra mail, the emergency mail that uses teleporting abras to deliver. The note read "The Maze is emerging." A few minutes later, another one came, this time from Lucario guild, where Lucius's family hails from. The text was the same, "The Maze is emerging." The two guilds were located the Obsidian range, the one far to the east, on the edge of the region, on on the northern boundery (Bastiodon) and the southeastern cliffs (Lucario) and just one would be worrying but them both, at the same time... Nigh impossible unless something is seriously amiss. When Volcorona got a third letter from Jellicent guild and a fourth from Flygon, on the northwestern atoll and southwestern desert, respectively... And all saying the same thing: The Maze is emerging. The four other major guilds, containing the same message, all in the same day... Nigh impossible. Something must be wrong.

The dragons must be rising.

Volcorona hoped that the kids found the artifact soon. It will be needed. And she hoped with all her might that Jarachi kept them away from the bottom. Nightmares await if Fern ever found out. Zoe poked her head through Volcorona's tent flap, interupting her thoughts. "Another Abra. This one is from-Arceus!" An abra matirialized along with a lucario, knocking several books off of the Guild Mistress's desk. "Mistress Vocorona, " the lucario started. "I am Guild Master Bluk. As Head Guild Mistress, you need to adress this issue! I have receved no abra mail regarding the Maze, and what e are to do about it."

"The abra mail says the same thing, more or less, but from Bastiodon," Zoe inserted. "We will call a Meeting of the Masters when we are sure that the Maze is really that much of a problem. Now, goodbye." Zoe used her an illusion to put Bluk into a Shadow Box, unable to hear or see into the room. His abra couldnt teleport in, either, because he never moved. In the end, he was forced to go back to Lucario Guild, frustrated. When he left, Zoe picked up something from the earthy floor, knocked off of Volcorona's desk. It was an ancient songbook, saved from the Fire of Forest Hall two hundred years before. A peice of parchment stuck out, yellowed with age and ink faded by time. Volcorona could just make out these words:

And last but most importantly,

An aura reader strong and brave

All heroes of the day.

You, dear daughter, must join them

Although you will take no part

Help your future friends find Song

From there The End shall start
