Slowly he came back into consciousness, his nose twitching faintly at the sweet smell that permeated the air. As of their own accord, his eyes opened from small slits to adjust to the light to fully aware of what was around him. He gazed down his snout, the orange fur on top mixing well with the cream that seemed to travel along the underside as he drew in breaths from his nostrils.

The sky was a remarkable blue, a few wispy clouds lazily drifting on the apparent breeze that wafted. He seemed to be in a bed of flowers, as the petals and stems bent lightly in his peripheral vision. Swallowing to moisten his mouth, he realized he had an object in it. Biting down, the solid object brought back a flavor he recognized yet hadn't tasted before. Slowly, he sat himself up, leaning back on his arms.

Gazing down on himself, he noticed he wore a red poncho like material with fluffed fringes over normal clothing, a flight suit he would have guessed. He quizzically also gazed the end of a bone like item that jutted from his muzzle and came to the conclusion he was gnawing on a toy. Looking past both, he saw his tail lightly curled around his body, completely orange and after a moment's attempt, moved it lightly in a twitch.

Standing shakily, the caninu looked around the field of flowers he seemed to have come to in. All around there were flowers, mostly white petaled with flecks of yellows and purples in clumps and nothing but grass upon the horizon. Taking a step forward, he almost landed face first before he balanced himself out and took another step with better traction. He had no idea where he was going, he just started putting a foot in front of the other, looking to find something, anything beyond what he had seen. Even so, his mind was loose, drifting from here to there yet seemed entirely devoid of thought.

The sun was passing ever so slowly at he kept walking, shifting the bone inside of his muzzle around as he sighed. He scratched behind one of his ears with a gloved paw, feeling hopelessly lost in more ways then one. His mind was entirely blank, just watching where he was going before he noticed a black rock under his foot. Pausing, his head tilted as he looked up to see a strip of black. Gazing to both sides, it appeared to go to the horizon in both directions. A road, his mind lightly voiced. It would lead to a place he could figure things out in.

He wasn't sure which way to go, so he shrugged and turned to his right. One foot in front of the other, like before. The wind ruffled his fur as well as his poncho, making it a nice day to be out and walking. Even so, after a time his feet lightly announced a feeling of pain from his time spent on the asphalt. He let out a deep huff, his eyes wondering here and there as his hair followed his clothing's direction. Pausing, fingers reached up to lightly stroke his hair, realizing only then he had any.

A rumble grew in volume behind him as he turned around, gazing at the horizon as a vehicle approached. It was a pickup truck, he realized, feeling like it would be common knowledge for many. As the green truck approached, it slowed down as it moved to the side. The window lowered as another caninu gazed out at him.

"Hey, what are you doing way out here? It's miles from the nearest town."

He tilted his head lightly, not being able to see the other beyond a thick set frame, what looked like a uniform of sorts and his lightly blue colored fur. It was a nice color in his opinion. His mind was nothing more than a blank slate as he answered back.

"I don't know. I don't remember anything."

The other caninu gazed at him in sympathy. "Hop in, I'll give you a lift at least."

He let a faint grin graze his muzzle as he opened the truck's door and got in. Reaching around, he belted himself in after closing the door and the vehicle started to move once again. Window up, he gazed at his reflection, seeing his blue eyes stare a bit blankly up and out as he heard the other clear his throat.

"Got a name?"

"...No."

"You'll likely need one for the time being. Got any you'd like?"

"No."

The two sat in silence for a while, the truck's engine the only noise in the cab. The other spoke up lightly. "How about Night? You are mysterious yet I get the feeling you are a pleasant fellow with many different sides."

Pondering, he lightly nodded his head. "It is a good name, if a bit uncommon to be named after a daily occurrence."

The other shrugged. "Best I could come up with. Am just a small time worker."

Tense silence followed the two down the road. Soon enough, a town appeared, though it seemed bigger than Night had first assumed based on what he knew. Though he didn't know a lot beyond common knowledge, he realized.

"You can stay with me til you get back on your feet."

Night turned to look at the caninu. He didn't know why, but he felt a tugging to stick to this man. "Thank you. I don't even know your name."

"It's Danove."
