#5 of Discontinued

Here's another series I've got going, for you people still wondering, yes Demon's Within as well as the others will be coming soon I'm just trying to figure out how to draw Demon's Within toward it's closing without giving away the ending.

And to get this out of the way, I love dragons, very much so especially ferals this is just how the story in my head went. Let me know what you think and I promise that the next story I post will be Demon's Within Chapter Six, I'm mid way through the chapter as I type this.

Our world, I've heard that saying less and less as the years dragged on, hope faded along with those words though it wasn't surprising, hope, happiness and pleasure had all died down thirty years ago when something in the world broke. They were considered nothing but myths even in the anthro race, ancient times had done nothing but cast them into the lots of stories and legends but the real things turned out to be far worse, dragons.

Large, vicious, bloodthirsty, these are the words that one would hear if they asked about a dragon, huge beasts that had long been nothing but creatures in fairy tales and drawings, no one is sure exactly how they remained hidden for so many years but they were and when they were awoken there was only one thing that they wanted, food. The humans and antrho's banded together to try and fight back these large beasts known as dragons but for every one that was taken down there were five to take its place and it wasn't long before the cities were abandoned, the dragons mythic fire having only been the fire of hell as they torched the cities burning anything and everything in their paths. The dragons had taken the world over in only a matter of months, flying from city to city and burning it, eating everyone in their path and those lucky enough to get away have remained in constant fear for the past thirty years. The survivors from the 'Day of the Dragon' as it was called quickly abandoned everything, hope, morality and trust, there is no such thing as friend ship or trust out in the 'Waste' that used to be the world, anyone who goes out there is left out there. There are a few small settlements around the world with small gathering of fearful antrho's and humans then there are others that venture out to see how long they can last before a dragon picks them off the face of the world, then there are others out there, others that won't just stand around and let the dragons have their feasts.

The human moves across the scorched earth that was black with ash, the rocks were jagged and sharp, the sky was covered in light grey clouds that never seemed to fade away and let the sun shine through, the humans boots crunched against the burned earth beneath his feet. His clothes were dirty with ash, being impossible to keep anything clean when you wandered the wastes, his grey pants having a few tears in them and his denim vest being a shredded around the bottom, his neck was covered by a long scarf that he used to cover his mouth and nose to protect them from the ash as much as they could. His skin was pale from the lack of sunlight but was dirty with ash, in his right hand he clutched a large ax that rested over his right shoulder, his left hand held a large knife, the large leather belt around his waist held two other knives against his back as well as a leather bag, over his left shoulder hung a crossbow with a quiver of arrows. His face was hidden by the scarf with his eyes being shielded by some black sunglasses that had a coating of ash on them, his brown hair was unevenly cut as it hung in front of his face and down to the mid part of his neck and was also dirty with ash looking near black from the heavy ash that covered it.

Slowly coming to a stop as he heard the air above him being sliced through by that of a large object, looking up immediately knowing exactly what it was, there was only one thing that could slice through the air at that speed and soon his assumption was proved right as a large dragon burst from out of the dark clouds and immediately swooped down toward him. The human didn't move as the dragon got closer showing no fear of the creature as its wings suddenly shifted back and gave a mighty swing gusting a huge amount of wind over the human as it threw a small cow between them with its hind legs before landing and looking down at the human who only gazed back up at the dragon. The human stood around six two and the dragon was over twice his size with black scales, it's body was thin with its wings running alongside it's front legs and connecting back to start of its tail, it's scales were dirty from the ash as well though it's silver eyes glared down at the small human, it's features were smooth yet rough as it's face lead down into its long muzzle before curving back down it's jaw line then taking a curve up into two large dirty ivory horns that starting out moving back before curling back under their selves and moving down to rest at points just after the start of its mouth.

Pulling the ax from his shoulder the human steps forward stopping at the dead cow and swinging his ax hard slamming the blade end of the ax into the upper chest of the cow just below the shoulder of its front right leg, pulling his ax back and swinging again hitting the opposite side of the cows shoulder severing it's leg easily, the humans muscled arms now looking even strong after swinging that large ax showing all the definition of this muscles. Reaching down and pulling the cows leg away with his left hand, placing the ax back over his right shoulder with the cow's leg over his left before moving away letting the dragon have the rest of the meal. Sitting down several yards from the dragon as it began to crunch down into the cow, the human doing the same without bothering to cook the meat, there was little time for such pleasantries in this day and age plus a fire would cause smoke as well as the scent of cooked flesh and draw other dragons near. It didn't take long for the dragon to finish and approach the human who had pulled his scarf down showing a clean face or at least as clean as one could get it with a sharp knife, turning and looking at the dragon as it slowly laid itself down on its stomach about five yards from the human who turned back and began to eat again.

Slowly standing up after eating all the meat that was on the cow leg before tossing the rest to the dragon who caught it in its mouth and crunching it down quickly while the human just started moving down the wastes once again, the dragon standing and slowly starting after the human, keeping the distance between them as they walked, it was hard to tell when the sun was about to go down until the light began to fade and being out in the wastes at night was never safe. Looking up seeing that the clouds were beginning to darken before looking around for a place to find some shelter, dragons eye sight was by far the best in this world, great during the day and excellent during the night, dragons had surpassed all expectations of human mythology as well as anthro mythology, no one in either species or any parts of the world had any way of combating the perfect predators.

The human stops as he looks over seeing a small formation of rocks, it was a risk but he would have to take it since it was a larger risk laying out in the darkness, moving over to the rock formation with the dragon behind him looking around cautiously as he gets closer and closer though freezing as the risk became real with a loud bang sounding out through the air. Looking up seeing several figures holding rifles in his direction, it was hard to make out exactly the species though now it didn't matter, any creature out in the wastes like this were either survivors or bandits who raid and kill survivors for their food, weapons or whatever drives them to kill.

The human stood still with the dragon behind him as three figures slowly started toward him two of the three guns locked onto the dragon while the last was aimed at the human, by the looks of the three anthro creatures they weren't bandits, bandits would have simply shot them down from afar. Stopping a good distance from the human and dragon before shouts were heard

"What are you doing way out here...with that" the feline who was either a cheetah or a leopard shouts thrusting the barrel of his hunting rifle toward the dragon to let all know what 'That' was.

The human looked over his shoulder at the large dragon that looked back with a curious expression or at least that's what it could be considered, looking back toward the small group of furs before the human pushed his scarf down

"Were just taking a walk, stretching our legs and maybe kill a few dragons while we're at it" this bringing shocked looks to the group of furs before the leader steps forward

"What the hell are you talking about, 'Kill dragons' you have one right behind you, kill that damn thing" he roared out pointing his gun at the dragon once again

"I will" came the humans responses making the cheetah lower his gun "There will come a time when I take this dragons head but it won't be today...it won't be until all the other dragons are dead."

To say that the three antrho's were shocked was a major understatement as they stared long and hard at the human who simply stared back at them until a slicing through the wind above them drew their attentions up, the three antrho's immediately turning and running back toward there small rock formation but the human smiled as he pulled his sunglasses from his eyes, his dark green eyes staring at the ground before looking up at the sky as he smiled "Time to play dragon" he said looking over his shoulder at the large dragon who turning and immediately spread his wings, taking to the sky.

Turning around and slamming his ax into the burnt earth before pulling his crossbow form his shoulder quickly pulling the line back and setting a strange bolt in it, the tip wasn't an arrow but rather a small round canister, slipping the stock of the crossbow up against his right shoulder before slowly looking around hearing the sound of air being sliced again followed by a large roar. Turning around seeing a large dragon soaring toward him though he doesn't move, he stares, waiting for the moment, then it comes as the dragon that had followed him dives from the sky with a tremendous roar making the other dragon look up. The other dragon immediately spread its wings and swung them forward to avoid smashing against the other larger dragon and that's when the human took his shot, the crossbow firing kicking him back a bit as the bolt flew through the air toward the dragon but about five yards from the dragon the canister was blown apart sending out a large metal lined net out in an X pattern. The net hit directly on the left side of the dragon wrapping it's wing up and sending it off balance and falling to the ground, it wasn't long before the dragon smashed into the earth with bone shattering force though it wasn't dead, pushing itself up and glaring at the human before roaring angrily at him but was immediately silenced as the other dragon smashed down onto it, the dragon that had followed the human snapped it's powerful jaws around the others neck and began ripping scales and flesh from the dragons throat before a loud snap could be heard as the dragons neck was broken. The human moved over as the dragon climbed itself down from the dead dragon, the human gazed down at the fallen dragon before pulling out the large knife from his leg and stabbing it into the dragons mouth, slicing and ripping out one of its large fangs and setting it into his bag that hung from his hip,

looking up at the dragon that follows him he nodded "Go ahead" he said before stepping away toward his ax as the dragon immediately bit into the dead dragons side ripping off a large chunk of flesh and swallowing it eagerly.

Grabbing and ripping his ax from the ground before slipping his sunglasses back on just as several of the antrho's emerged from they're rock hiding place, the same three running over to the human completely stunned that he had killed a dragon

'How did you do it' 'How'd you tame that dragon' and 'Who are you' were the questions shouted out at him as he turning looking at the antrho's setting his ax back on his shoulder as he gazed at them, silencing they're questions before turning to them fully "I have no name and that dragon is far from tame"

"Then how'd you get it to kill that other dragon" came the voice of a wolf standing behind the cheetah or leopard

"It follows me because I kill dragons, dragons once dead are like every other creature, meat" that answered that question quick as the three antrho's looked over at the dragon eating the corps of the other dragon

"If you have no name, what should we call you" the leader asks as the human walks past them toward the rock formation

"I'm a hunter, a dragon hunter" came his simple replay as he neared his shelter for the night.
