I woke-up, I heard Keven whining. It hurts me to even hear him in pain, I rolled to face him, he had a paw over his head and his ears where pined back. I asked "whats wrong, Keven?""I have the worst headache ever!" he said in a soft voice.I said "you should take some Advil... or something"Keven sighed and said "I've taken three""wow" I said. I slowly got out of bed and asked "what did the doctor say the symptoms of this hereditary disease of yours was?""stuff" he said "headache, nausea, vomiting, fever, heart attacks within ten days... Stuff like that""Thats pretty damn bad!" I said and walked into the kitchen to make me some breakfast.Keven said "don't worry about me, I'll be out in a minute!"I couldn't stop thinking about Keven, I hate seeing him in such pain. I finished eating my breakfast and Keven slowly walked into the kitchen, he asked "think you could go in and close the cabin window and door?""yeah" I said "I think I'll have no trouble following our tracks" I pulled on a thin coat and some boots, I said "I'll be back soon!"I could only just hear Keven when he said "be careful, Greyson" I walked out the door, it was a awesome day, a little cold but with my fur and the thin coat, I'm petty comfy!I have no trouble following our tracks in the couple of inches of snow thats on the ground. I was only getting into the denser trees when a loud flapping noise and what first looked like a dark blurry blob sprung up only feet away from me, making me jump back and shout "GOD, WHAT THE HECK!"I watched the blob land on a tree, now that it was staying still, I could tell it was a spruce grouse. I said "god, you nearly gave me a heart attack!"The grouse bobbed its head, it looked confused by my voice.I said "I swear, you'll be my lunch if I can find a way to get you down from that tree!"The grouse shaked and puffed its feathers out, some bits of dirt fell from it and it tried to go to sleep with its head tucked under its wing.I found a long, yet strong stick. It's about six feet long and about half a inch for most its length. I felt through my pockets and found the one thing that could catch this grouse... A snare, I twisted one end on the end of the stick and opened the snare. The grouse started to wake up, it stretched its wings and stared right at me. I slowly lifted the stick until the snare was level with the grouse's head, I slowly moved the snare closer than put the snare over its head and than lowered it a little."alright" I said "this will be quick, and will be just like a noose around your neck... Ready?"The grouse looked even more confused than ever, it just tilted its head."just remember, its your fault for scaring me" I said. I pulled down, the grouse flapped its wings a few times and by the time it hit the snow, its neck was broken and it was dead. I said "thanks, your going to be delicious"

I continued to the cabin, carrying the dead grouse by its feet. I went into the cabin and shut the window and closed the door, it will be so much warmer with the foam in the cracks.I walked back home, I never noticed until now, just how many rabbit tracks there are this close to home. Sadly, I have no more snares so I'll have to wait to catch some of those rabbits.I opened the door and walked into the house, the wind shut the door for me. I said "I got lunch!"I put the grouse down than took off the coat and boots, I picked the grouse back up and went into the kitchen. Keven said "awesome grouse, Greyson!""how are you feeling now?" I asked."puking every time I eat anything" he said "and I thought you said you couldn't kill a bird""that was a long time ago" I said."seriously" he said "that was only during the summer"'We went to his house and he saw a grouse in his back yard, he went inside and grabbed his bow, he said "these things taste awesome" I said "don't kill it!""they taste like chicken" he said.I said "I don't believe you""yeah, they don't" he said "but they are related to chicken and turkey""Fine" I said "just shoot the bloody thing!"He quickly drawn the bow and released the arrow, it flew straight forwards and took the head clean off the grouse. He gutted it and plucked the feathers off, he than cooked it. It smelled too good and I had to try it, I loved it I plucked and gutted this grouse, I wanted Keven to enjoy it with me, so I put it in the freezer for when he gets his medicine and stops puking every couple minuets.
