Chapter thirty

The next night i stood in the massive hall by Serinity's chair and looked around the impecably decorated room at the many male and female Leomon who where gathered their watching Farrith drone on about the peace between the their tribe and the kitsune clan of the light, *this is so boring, if it weren't for the fact that i am suppose to protect Serinity then i might have just skipped the hole thing*

I looked around one last time at the many faces and sighed inwardly before turning to look at Serinity, she was wearing an ornaite kimono that she said was required of her since she was the child of Ferrith and Serra.

I sighed softly and waited by the chair as the throng of digimon began clapping then the music started and the Leomon and Kitsune standing in the room began to walk amongst each other greeting each person and moving on to the next, i looked around again trying to find something to take my mind off the boredom i felt until i noticed a Saber Leomon walking threw the crowd towards the dais that the head family and i were on.

I kept my stance non threatening and watched as it slowly climbed the stairs toward Farrith, about halfway up it paused for a second and i saw its eyes move to Serinity before he moved again, *this one could be trouble just like the one last night, i'll keep and eye on him*

"Greetings Farrith it has been a long time" the Saber Leomon said

"Indeed my old friend it has, tell me how is your family doing i heard you had a cub some time ago" Farrith said as he smiled at the digimon.

"Heh,heh, your ability to gather information never ceases to amaze Farrith, indeed i did have a cub however Nari is noticably absent for your fayt tonight for some reason"

"And your mate? where is she?" Ferrith asked.

The digimon sighed and hung his head, "she has taken it upon herself to delegate the affairs of the village in my stead so she won't be joining us this time".

Ferrith smiled at the Saber Leomon, "truely that is a shame my old friend i was looking forward to seeing her again"

The two of them walked off into the crowd of digimon as they talked and left me alone with serinity and Serra, I said nothing as i stood there by her chair.

"This is always so boring although it is nice to catch up with everyone" i heard Serra say as she got up from her chair.

She looked at Serinity and smiled, "my dear why don't you and Shadow go walk around for a while it would seem that he takes as much a liking to this as i do"

Serinity got up and looked after her mother as she walked into the crowd probably to join her mate, Serinity looked back at me and gave a small smile.

"She is right this is boring why don't we go some where else for a while until my parents call for us", she started walking and i followed behind her carrying my violin case over my shoulder.

As we walked i caught some of the usual nasty glances and quips directed at me in a hushed tone but i ignored them and followed Serinity to a table that was heavy with food and drink, a servant gave her a glass of something and offered me one but i turned it down for some water and followed after my charge as she lead the way to a raised balcony over looking a small garden on the ground floor.

I watched as she found a spot by the railing and looked out into the night, "Thankfully they only do this once a year so after tonight Shadow you won't have to deal with it again for a while"

I looked her over then walked to the railing and leaned on it before replying, "a year is a long time female i might not be here then, for all i know i'll either be on another mission or dead in some gutter"

She jerked her head to look at me and glared, "That is the last time i want to hear something like that come out of your mouth Shadow am i understood?"

I tilted my head to the side, "i speak only the truth female, but very well"

She sighed and looked back out over the garden again, "you are something else shadow you know that?, oh well atleast tonight isn't as boring as greeting all of these mon was last night wouldn't you say?"

"Indeed female, my legs were very stiff from standing around for four hours watching you shake hands and talk with the entire tribe of leomon"

She looked at me dejectedly "well atleast you got to do your job that time although i don't see why you had to mangle the poor Leomon so badly"

I shrugged my shoulders at her, "i had to set an example for the others besides he tried to rape you infront of the whole crowd, and when it comes to Leomon or anyone else with a pack mentality it is better to take a strong roll in their eyes than to sit by and watch"

she sighed again, "i suppose your right shadow but still you could have taken it easier on him"

"Once again female i was only doing my job besides when i did that i basicly laid claim to you in their eyes as your protector"

"Shadow.....you castraighted him and cut off his hand then tried to give it to me as a gift infront of my parents and his tribe"

I only looked at her for a moment, "female you are to soft hearted for some things but i only did my job and if you note not a single one of them has tried to pull the same stunt, beside if i had killed him as i wanted to it could have started a war"

She sighed again but didn't say anything for awhile, "do you still have the disks in your guantlets?" i asked her.

She growned and looked at me, "yes shadow it's not like i lost them siting in that chair for the past hour, i think you would have noticed something like that"

I glared down at her and saw her flinch when she caught the look, "female your safety is my top concern in this, it is my job and i take it very seriously however if you do not comply with the way i do things it is only going to make it that much harder on the both of us"

She nodded and looked away then gulped down the glass she had gotten from the servent, i took my own glass and did a quick scan of it before taking a drink.

"Shadow....Shadow can you come in here please?"

I turned to find Serra standing with her mate and a group of Leomon along with Saber Leomon looking at me, i walked over to them and bowed to the group as a show of respect before looking at Serra.

"You wish to see me?"

"Shadow would you mind showing everyone that strange instrument you play?"

I studied Serra for a minute before grabbing the case from my side and opening it, i held the case so that all of them could see it and looked at Serra.

"Is this all you need of me lady Serra?"

She smiled at me and looked around to the Saber Leomon, "you see it is as i told you he is very straight foward"

The Saber Leomon laughed at this and took a step closer, "indeed Serra, tell me shifter what is this thing called?"

"It is a human instrument called a violin, i got it as payment for one of my jobs it is very old and i am told very valuable to private collectors"

The digimon looked at me a little suprised, "and why would that be i wonder?"

"Because there are only two remaining instruments made by the person who crafted this one, i believe the client who gave it to me called it a strata varius"

"If it is so coveted then may i ask why he gave it to you?" asked the digimon

"Because i saved his life from an assasin and he has the other one still with him, that is if he isn't dead yet"

This seemed to take a few of them aback but they said nothing, the saber leomon took a step closer and sniffed the instrument before looking at me again. "Tell me shifter what kind of sound does it make?"

Serra cut in just before i could talk and got everyones attention, "Actually i am glad you asked old friend because i have requested him to play tonight for our guests"

The Saber Leomon sat down on his haunches and looked at her, "oh?, i would be most interested if he agrees to play it".

"I have little choice in the matter, do to the terms of the contract i was hired for i am to play tonight anyway.....however i still have yet to recieve the order to play" i told him.

This only made the group laugh as i closed the case and looked around, after they had settled down Farrith looked over at me.

"Shadow why don't you play for us now so we can get that detail out of the way?"

"Very well Ferrith i will get ready, is their any place you wish me to play at?"

He waved his hand around the room as if showing me then looked back at me, "It is your instrument shadow not mine so play were ever you like"

I bowed to the digimon and turned around to Serinity who was standing behind me, "Do not stray from your parents female i will return after i am done".

With that said i walked off into the crowd and started looking around for a spot to play my violin, it took me several minutes before i finally settled for a spot next to the Kistune who were playing some old looking japanese style instruments.

I motioned for them to stop playing and got a few looks before the music stopped, when it did i got my violin ready and turned around to find the room of digimon looking at me.

I ignored them and pulled the bow across the strings letting a mellow note drift threw the now quiet hall, i strung the next few notes together and closed my eye finally letting the sound take me away as i played.

I played for the better part of and hour before i finally stopped and started to put my violin away, after i did i turned to look at the stunned crowd that now looked at me before i finally heard some one in the back start to clap for lack of a better word. It quickly rushed threw the rest of those before me as i started away from the rest of the instruments and back towards the place i had left serinity.

By the time i got back to her the other music had already started back up, i took my place by serinity and looked at Serra, "are you satisfied?".

Serra smiled and nodded her head before turning to the saber leomon, "i told you Gerrath it is a most curious thing to hear, but none-the-less beautiful is it not?"

"Indeed Serra it is amazing to think that someone such as him could produce such an intrancing sound, tell me shifter were did you learn it?"

"It was one of the first pieces i learned to play as a youngling, i learned it from.....i learned it from the internet when i first taught myself how to play" i said.

*Why did i do that just now, regret?......no it is to be expected, after all my father taught it to me.....however this is the first time i have played that particular piece since that day*

I looked at serra and farrith, "If that is all for my playing i would like to put the voilin back with the rest of my things"

Farrith nodded at me and smiled, "Very well shadow you may go, and take Serinity with you i think she could use the break".

"Very well Farrith I will be back shortly" i said as i turned away from the group and walked off.

chapter thirty one

I put my violin case down by my trunk and sat down in a nearby chair as serinity sat down in another one no far away, she was fussing with her kimono as i watched her then she gave a heavy sigh and gave up.

"I hate wearing this thing it's so restricting and it rubs my fur the wrong way when i move" she said.

"Like you said before this only happens once a year so after tonight it won't matter until next year"

She smiled at that and got up out of the chair, "true Chad but i still don't like it"

I got out of my chair wnd walked over to the balcony, i put my hands on the railing and looked out over the courtyard and thought to myself.

*so far nothing has happen since i was contracted for this job, however i should not complain i was given that sword and this has been one of my more interesting assignments if not one of my strangest*

I felt something furry and warm slid over my left hand and looked at it to find Serinity's hand on mine, i followed it up and saw her looking at me.

"That music you played tonight was beautiful....but what you said was a lie wasn't it"

"I would rather not say serinity"

"And why not?" she asked softly.

"Because the past is the past and i am here now, so let it fade into the darkness as it must"

A sad smile crept over her face as she looked at me, "would it really kill you to let me in Chad?"

I looked back out over the courtyard before i spoke again, "no...not me, but it could very well kill you"

I watched the courtyard for a while and thought i noticed something off about it, I don't know why but for some reason something didn't feel right to me as i looked. I scanned the yard but found nothing wrong, *maybe it's just me?*

"Is something wrong chad?" i heard serinity ask softly.

I looked back at her and thought for a minute, "it is probably nothing serinity, just a feeling".

I walked back into the room and went over to my trunk and opened it, i started taking out some of my less used items as i looked for something and set them on the floor. I saw Serinity walk over and pick up one of the items i had just set down, "what is this?" she asked as she looked it over.

I looked at what she was holding, it resembled a choker with what looked to be a silver demon skull motif where a jewel would be. The strap that it was made from was black and the clasps were silver, she turned it over in her hand and touched the skull and jumped as the jaw snapped opened. A soft hum started up from the skull and serinity droped it quickly as she backed away, *serves her right for messing with my things*.

I picked up the choker and hit the button hidden in the eye socket and the mouth snapped shut then the humming stopped, "it is something my contact had made for one of my old missions, it is not dangerous but next time don't fiddle with things that you know nothing about most of these things are deadly and if you mess with them without knowing what they are then my job could end very quickly along with my life"

She looked at me worriedly, "why do you have so many dangerous things with you?"

"Because it is part of my job and many of these items have helped me threw my missions more often than any living being ever has", she seemed to think about that for a minute before looking at me again.

"What does it do?" she asked catiously, i tossed it back to her and watched her catch it. "Put it on and look into a mirror" i told her, she looked at me confused but did as i told her and put it on. I watched her go to the mirror in her vanity and look at it before she turned back to me, "what now?"

I turned back to my trunk and started looking threw it again, "turn it on".

I heard the skull snap open and the humming start again, suddenly she yelped and i heard her fall down and take something with her that clattered to the floor. I was still looking threw my trunk when i heard her speak, "wha...what is this...what did it do to me!" she said in a scared tone.

"It did what it was designed to do nothing more, however i should think that from what you have seen me do with some of these thing you would have been expecting something like this" i said as i pulled out a small box.

"Even seeing all of that i still don't think this is even remotely funny chad!, i mean look at me!", i turned from my trunk and looked at her and widened my eyes in suprise. "well this is unexpected......I didn't think it would effect you like this....it is very interesting", i looked closely at what the choker had done to her with slight amusement.

Before me now stood a completely different looking Serinity, the normaly yellow fur had turned black and glossy with a slight silver tint to it and the puff of fur around her neck and the white fur on what i could see of her chest had now become platinum looking, i looked at her face and saw that the w marks had turned white and her blue eyes were now black and red.

I got up and walked over to her looking closely, "let me see your leg".

She looked at me like i was crazy but started to open her kimono then stuck out her leg, I looked at the place where her ying yang marks were and found the color had changed from purple to a crimson color.

I heard a slight tremble in her voice when she spoke again, "how is this possible!?!, i mean all i did was turn it on and this happened, Chad what is this thing?!".

I stood up and looked at the choker before looking at serinity, "it is a camoflage unit, i used it in one of my old missions to get in with a group of necro hunters so i could rescue a shifter that they had captured.....this is very interesting....i've never actually used it on a full digimon before but i didn't think the change would be so dramatic"

I reached out and hit the power button and watched the skull snap shut again the heard the soft humming die down, i watched as the new colors slowly started to move down her body making it look like someone was washing them off by pouring water on her head.

Soon she was back to normal so i reached up behind her and unhooked the clasps that held the choker on, "if that was your idea of a joke chad it wasn't funny in the least!" she she growled.

i said nothing as i walked back to my trunk and started putting my things away, "still it was very enteresting to see" i told her.

"So what is it your looking for anyway?", she huffed as she walked over to me.

"A tracking device i was going to give you the other day, however you wanted to leave so quickly that i never got the chance" as i said this i held up the box to her.

She took it out of my hand and opened it then gasped, "it's beautiful"

She pulled the tracker out of the box and held it up to a lantern, the tracker glinted in the light casting small beams on to the wall as it turned. It was made of four pieces of metal that bordered on the edge of a small ruby in the shape of a diamond like you would see on a playing card, i walked over and took the chain holding the tracker from her and slipped it over her head then pushed on the gem.

The four sides of the tracker seperated with a soft click and pushed out revealing the circits underneath, "as long as you keep this with you i'll know where you are"

Serinity reached up and turned off the tracker before looking at me, "I won't have much need for it as long as you stand by my side"

She gave me a strange look before i turned away from her, "come we should get back to the fayt before your parents come looking for you"

With that i started walking to the door with serinity in tow.

We got back to the party to find everyone still milling around and talking so i let Serinity lead the way over to the food table and watched as she got some food and followed her out to the place over looking the garden again.

The next thing she said suprised me greatly, "shadow....would you tell me about your home?"

I studied her as she looked out on the garden and ate some more food, "I do not have a home female only temparary bases that i stay at until i have to move to avoid shift hunters and the D.P.A"

She yawned before talking again, "i mean when you were living with your dam and sire shadow before....well before you were born as you call it"

"That.....place is no longer my home and i do not remember what it was like their" i said as she speared a piece of meat with her claw and put it in her mouth.

"Was it really so bad there shadow that you would not consider returning?" she asked as she yawned again more deeply.

I looked at my watch and saw it was only 9 o'clock then i looked out into the garden, as i watched i thought i saw something flit between the trees in the moon light but i wasn't sure, i turned on my thermal vision but saw nothing that struck me as odd so i turned it off and looked at serinity to find that she was starting to fall asleep.

I reached out and shook her shoulder to get her up again and looked around inside the hall, what i saw set my mind on edge and my insticts into action, the guests that had been milling around along with the kitsune soon began dropping to the floor out cold.

I turned back to serinity and scanned her plate of food and found it had been druged with something, i pulled out my sword and grabbed serinity then pulled her off to the side fo the balcony and into some bushes so she would be out of the way then i walked back into the hall and looked around with my blade out in front of me.

I picked my way threw the unconscious forms and leaned down when i found Farrith and Serra over by the diaz with the Gerrath, i tried to wake them up but i couldn't. Suddenly i heard a door bang open across the hall and turned myself into bats and flew for cover to watch what was about to come, as i did i heard the other doors bang open and saw several black renamon rush into the room holding weapons out in front of them.

I quietly sent most of the bats out of the door to the garden and watched the action take place, as the black renamon moved over the forms of the drugged digimon on the floor then i heard one of them speak in a gutteral tone.

"The shifter and the bitch aren't here send the others to search the area and find them!"

Two of the six digimon bolted off out the door and back into the palace, then the one that spoke turned to the others and pointed at two of them, "you two go search the palace and see what you can find, and you two go to the armory and get the masters sword and bring it here" he said pointing to the remaining two.

The four of them bolted off back into the palace out of the doors they had come in and disappeared, after the were gone the digimon started to search threw the ones on the floor until he came to Farrith and Serra then he bent down and grabbed Serra by the hair and yanked back hard pulling her head off the ground.

"Stupid bitch.....we told you that the master would have the sword and then we would bring the prophacy to fruition, you should have just listened to us and gave them to us"

As he said this he raised his other hand and unsheathed his claws then started to strick at Serra's throat, i was just about to fly over and destract him until i heard a female voice come from one of the doors.

"Hold renamon, i will not have you killing the only person who could now where the shifter and the bitch have gone before we have the sword and her powers.....with out one the other is useless", i looked at toward the source of the voice and what i saw suprised me.

It was the female Leomon that i had incountered the other night, i looked closer and saw something was off about her. The color of her fur was darker and her eyes seemed to pierce threw what ever they looked at like she was trying to pull it apart with will alone, now though instead of wearing what she had the first time i saw she was wearing a leather skirt that went from her waist to halfway done her thigh then it stopped.

As she started to walk threw the room her skirt shifted to reveal a slit going from one hip to the end of it and she was also wearing what looked to be a leather shirt held up by only a single strap on her right shoulder that went only to her midriff then stopped and on her back she had one of the signiture swords of the leomon.

She walked over the prone forms on the floor until she came to Gerrath and stopped, she glared down at the digimon then kicked him hard sending him flying into a nearby piller.

"Stupid bastard never even knew i had gone dark, oh well its not like i need him now anyway"

*This is bad i need to get the female out of here until i find out whats going on, but first i need to get out of here and see what i'm up against*

I was just about to fly out of the door when one of the other dark digimon came back in, it spotted the dark lioness and knelt down before speaking to her. "My mistress the sword is not in the armory i fear that they have moved it somewhere else".

The female lashed out and hit the renamon in the face with enough force to send it flying back several feet until it came to a rest on top of a male leomon, the digimon burst into data and was absorbed by the lioness who then turned to the remaining dark renamon.

"Find me the shifter and bring him to me, he has one of the swords that i want, now go and don't come back until you find him" she said coldly. "And get some of the others in here to clean up this trash and put it in the dungon until i can figure out what to do with them"

The dark renamon bowed to her and vanished leaving her alone in the room with me, "heh, once i find the sword and the bitch i'll take their power and rule everything, and there won't be a thing "that" bitch can do about it"

she turned around and looked over the room with distaste, "maybe when this is over i'll keep the shifter as a sex slave" a strange smile spread across her face and she closed her eyes then she slid her hand into the slit of her skirt and started moaning as she talked to herself.

"Mmmmm.......yeah thats what i'll...ahhh...do...mmmm....after the time he showed me that morning...ahhh...i'll definatly keep him around for some ....uhhh....fun"

I narrowed my eyes at the lioness as i spread my wings and took off, *what the hell is it with these virus types and wanting to keep me as some kind of pet, By the digi gods all i do is screw them once and they think they own me*

I flew threw the door and reformed my body in the bushes next to serinity then i picked her up and looked around to see if any one was around, i saw several dark renamon and leomon searching threw the garden but they were to far away to notice me. I slowly made my way around the side of the garden keeping to the shadows as i moved until i remembered my cards, *shit i can't leave them here who knows what will happen to them*

I looked down at serinity as she slept in my arms then up to the floor where her room was, *shit how am i going to do this, if i take her with me she'll be in danger but i can't leave my cards or the drugs here otherwise....no i have to get them before its to late then i'll come back for the female it should only take a few minutes and i can fly there"

I put serinity down on the ground behind a long bush and covered her with my trenchcoat so they wouldn't find her then i willed myself back into the swarm of bats and flew around the palace until i came to the balcony of her room, i landed and reformed my body out of sight then peeked around the frame into the room.

*Good they haven't gotten this far yet so maybe i still have time*

I moved into the room and opened the trunk and grabbed my book of cards and the breifcase and put them on the bed, i grabbed a handfull of items from the trunk not bothering to look at them then threw them on the bed as well. After i grabbed the string of null disks and hooked them onto my belt i wrapped my things up in the sheet on serinity's bed and cut the extra material off with the sword, I was just releasing some bats from my body when i heard running in the halls followed by a couple of screams and the sounds of something heavy hitting the floor then more running.

*their sweeping the rooms one by one, thats smart but it doesn't give me much time to move* i thought as i sent the bats away with my things, i was just about to leave when the door to the hall was blown in and a dark leomon came in followed by two dark renamon.

The dark leomon spotted me and narrowed its eyes as it growled, "rrrrrr....you....your the one i've been looking for....".

I tilted my head to the side and looked at him, "You know me?"

The dark leomon growled again and made like he was going to attack me but he stopped, "well you certainly know my brother....or should i say you knew him since you were the one who killed him"

I raised my hand and touched the skin below my right eye as i remembered the dark leomon who had taken it, "so that was your brother was it?, pity i didn't have you their to fight as well maybe then he would have lasted more than a few seconds before i ripped out his guts and took his code"

The dark leomon roared at me and drew his sword as he lept into the air at me, I raised my left hand and snapped my fingers and watched as a piller of dark energy shot out of the floor in front of me and shot towards him, His face went from rage to suprise then fear as he twisted his body trying to get out of the way of my attack. Unfortunatly he didn't respond fast enough because the piller hit him in the shoulder and ripped off the arm that he was using to hold his weapon, the force of the attack sent him spinning threw the air and into the vanity and his arm thudded to the ground and slid to a stop at my feet.

I reached down and grabbed the sword as his arm turned to code and looked at the two remaining threats, without even a second thought i threw the sword at one of the dark renamon and watched it sink into his face with a spurt of blood then he fell to the ground dead and turned into code. I looked at the other one and saw him shaking with fear as he looked back at me, he suddenly seemed to remember that i was unarmed and defenseless as he brought up a deadly looking katana and pointed it at me.

"I wouldn't do that if i were you" i told him as he took a step forward, he only glared at me and took another step. I raised my hand again and looked him dead in the eyes, "I told you not to do that" i said as i snapped my fingers. Suddenly a shaft of dark energy sprouted from his chest sending blood and gore over the room and splattering me in the face, the dark renamon looked down at his chest then back at me as a flow of blood started to drip from his muzzle. I snapped my fingers again and the side of the piller seemed to grow out and form into wicked looking blades, the digimons eyes when wide with fear when he saw this and he looked at me.

"Plahh...please have mercy...*Cough*..." as he spoke he spit up blood, i just looked at him "sorry all outa mercy" with that i snapped my fingers again. The digimon screamed out as the blades snapped down and cut him in half killing him and turning him into code, i quickly turned around towards the balcony and jumped on the railing then into the air and as i did i heard something and turned back to find the dark leomon still alive and looking at me.

I could see the pain and hatred in his eyes as our gazes met, "looks like you got lucky kitty so i'll be seeing you again most likely" i said as i sailed threw the air, with that i gave him a two fingered salute/wave and sank into the night. As i fell from his view i released my wings and extended them fully catching the air then i banked and flew to the garden, when i landed it was chaos.

I heard roaring and saw blue flames shoot out of the doorway that i had left through then Se'nara flew threw the doors and hit the ground taking out a couple of trees as she did, she skidded to a halt about twenty feet away and got up looking around as i picked up Serinity in my arms. She caught site of me and looked at my coat so i pulled it down to show her that our charge was safe, she nodded and looked me in the eyes before turning around to face the dark female leomon now standing in the doorway.

"You will never have the princess bitch, i'll make sure of that!" she said as she flared out her tails, "Fox Tail Inferno!" the tips of her tails burst into blue flames then the flames shot foward and exploded in the door way. I took my chance and flapped my wings and launched into the air with the female in my arms flying into the sky, i looked back just in time to see a sword fly out of the smoke and pierce Se'nara's skull then she exploded into data and was absorbed by the dark female Leomon. As this happened i saw her look up at me threw the disapaiting smoke and smile evily before screaming out, "you will not get far shifter!, it will all be mine very soon!".

Chapter thirty two

I flew threw the night sky as fast as i could while some twenty feet below me the bats i had released tried to keep up while carrying my things, *this is not good.....i have to get the female some place safe but i don't know this area at all, not to mention the fact that i have who knows how many dark and virus type digimon on my heels that won't quit until they have us in front of their leader*.

I looked down when i heard serinity groan and saw her open her eyes and look at me, she looked around quickly then back at me with a confused look "Chad what's going on?, why are we flying and where is the palace?!"

I could hear the worry and fear in her voice as she spoke, "The palace was attacked by dark digimon, they were lead by a dark female leomon who was looking for something, I had to get you out of the palace to keep you safe from harm"

She thought about this for a second then i saw fear in her eyes, "what about my mother and father and what happened to Se'nara!?"

I looked her in the eyes as i spoke, " the female told her underlings to take everyone to the dungon and Se'nara is.....dead". Serinity looked like she was going to cry at any second until she caught site of something behind me and threw her arms around my neck, "pulse!" "bee stinger!" i heard the attack get called from behind me but before i had the chance to look back i was thrown around from the force of it hitting the shield.

I quickly corrected myself and looked back to find three Beedramon flying after us, they looked like giant deformed bees with jagged claws on their six long feet and their mouths were dripping with saliva as they flew closer, "Givvvve it up zzzhifter and we will let you livvvve" the closest one called out to me.

I looked straight ahead and kept flying, "female i need you to get the string of disks off my belt and show them to me", serinity nodded and reached for my belt. I felt her fumble around before she pulled back and showed me she had gotten what i asked her to, "good now i need you to take one and hit the button on the side then throw it at those digimon".

She looked at me confused but did as i asked, she held up one of the null disks and hit a small green button on it then tossed it behind me. "Chad what will tha-" her question was cut off as a deafening explosion hit me with a shockwave and made me spin out of control for a few seconds before i righted myself and looked at her, "how many are left?'.

She shook herself back to our current situation and looked back, "i see one...no their are two of them far back and closing fast, they seemed to have loaded the first ones code".

As she spoke i heard two sets of buzzing wings getting closer to us then i heard two voices called out attacks, "Bee Stinger!, Bee Stinger!" Serinity put her arms around my neck again and activated the field. i felt the impact from the attacks as they hit the shield and felt something hit my wing and rip threw it, i felt warm blood seeping down the membrane and looked over as i started to stray off my flight path. I saw a jagged tear about six inches long in the skin between my bone struts and cursed loadly at the site, *I won't be able to fly anywhere like this, i have to land now before they take out my other wing and kill us both with the fall*

As i was thinking about what to do i saw Serinity take another disk and hit the button then throw it behind me, i brought the tips of my wings in closer to my body and went into a dive as soon as she did and angled for a small clearing in the forrest below. As the ground came closer i timed my next move and closed by wings completely and hit the ground at a dead run into the trees, as i did i heard the explosion go off and heard a scream of pain from behind me.

I kept running as fast as i could threw the trees, but all the time i could still hear one of the beedramon hovering in the air above us. Serinity started to pull another disk but i stopped her, "don't we may need those and i doubt you'll hit him from here so don't waist them".

she looked back at me and nodded then put the disk back, "but what are we going to do about it?". Just then my proxi went off and four arrows appeared on screen then split and went to either side of my display screen, "for some reason i think he's the least of our problems right now, we have more company to deal with than just him". I activated the hollow display and it showed me two Dark Leomon and two Dark Renamon, *damn looks like i'm going to have to fight after all.....why can i never catch a break in things like this*.

I looked down at serinity as i dodged around another tree, "can you move your legs?". I felt serinity wiggle her legs then she nodded to me, "good when i put you down put on the coat for protection and keep running, don't look back just go and i'll catch up with you after i've dealt with our little problem".

She nodded and grabbed the coller of my coat as i let her legs drop down, "On three i'm going to let go so do as i told you and make sure the ones that follow don't capture you" again she nodded to me and i started counting down.

"one....two....three!" i let go of her and watched as she easily got the coat on and ran into the forrest ahead of me, i hit the breaks when she vanished from sight and turned around as i skidded to a stop with my back against a tree. I quickly forced my wings back into my body and looked into the dark forrest waiting for the digimon to catch up, when i spoted them i let a smile split my face and pulled a necro card from my deck holder.

As they got closer the Beedramon and one of each of the dark digimon slowed down while the remaining Dark Renamon and Leomon spread out and shot past me into the forrest, they came to a stop about ten feet in front of me being catious.

*These guys aren't as stupid as the others, good for them but i still have to deal with them before i can help Serinity* i thought as i looked each one over in turn.

I looked the Dark Renamon over carefully as it stepped forward and held out its weapon a nasty looking glaive with rings on the back of it, the color though was more intersting to me. Where the yellow would be on a normal renamon its fur was pitch black and its eyes were completely red instead of being black and blue and the w mark was white, the guantlets it had on were red as well and the normal ying/yang symbols had changed some too and instead of being purple they were white and looked like skulls chaseing each other however the normal white fur was still their.

"Shifter if you give us the blade and the female then we will bring you in unharmed, however if you refuse than we are to take you back whatever way we can" the dark renamon said.

"Your logic is flawed, i have no intention of bending my knee to your master even if it means i have to kill you to send that messege" i said as i looked at each of them in turn.

"Very well shifter i will regret telling my mistress Nari that you would not comply with her request" he bolted forward and lunged at me with his weapon, as soon as he got close enough i side stepped and got in close hearing the blade sink into the tree behind me and releasing my metal claws as i did.

"sorry but i don't take request's" i said as i drove one of my fingers into his skull, i ripped my finger free and grabbed the glaive from the tree and held it at the ready as i looked at the two remaining attackers. I absorbed the dark digimons code and stepped forward, just then Beedramon flew at me so i flipped my grip on the glaive and hurled it at him.

I watched the glaive sail threw the air and Beedramon turned out of the way but not in time to save it's wings from getting clipped, as it fell to the ground the Dark Leomon ran at me and drew his sword. I had to draw my own to deflect his attack and turn it aside, as i did i parryed and drove mine into his heart then i cut down across his chest slicing threw his ribs before i pulled it out.

As he fell to the ground and burst into code i bolted forward and sank the blade into the thorax of the Beedramon as it started to rise from the ground, i quickly absorbed the codes and ran off into the forrest after Serinity and her attackers.

As i dodged threw the trees at full speed i heard an explosion in the distance and tried to hurry, when i got to the site i saw that the Dark Leomon who had blown past me was on the ground clutching a bloody stump were his left leg had been but Serinity was squareing off against the Dark Renamon who was nursing an injured arm while trying to hold a sword in his other hand.

I looked down at the card i held and saw it was a speed card so i swiped it down my scanner, "Necro modify, speed activate" i felt the rush of power and bolted forward.

As i ran i made a b-line until i was behind the dark one and rushed forward and held up my sword, when i got close enough i thrust forward and watched the blade extend and pierce threw the digimons back. I stopped when i knew it wouldn't get loose the forced then blade up into the air and out the top of its skull, When i did a spray of blood erupted out of the cut i had made and the digimon seemed to bend outward as both halves seperated from each other at the waist then it exploded into data.

I quickly sheathed my sword and walked over to Serinity and checked her over, after i saw that she was ok i looked at her and saw she had a dazed look in her eyes and was shaking slightly. I grimiced as i thought to myself, *We don't have time for this, i have to get her out of here and fast before reinforcements show up*.

I picked up Serinity and took off into the forrest in the direction of the wall and as far as i knew safety.
