Argentinian Ties
#22 of The Amazing Race 2
On the last leg of the Amazing Race, the teams went to Brazil and two superteams were formed to find birds. Tammy cheated her way to the Fast Forward, and a 3-way alliance tied the Evil Oasis for first place. And in last was the vegetarians, Miles & Joey. So long! Only 5 teams remain in the race. One team will be in last today. Who will it be? Keep watching... the Amazing Race.

"Welcome back to Rio de Janeiro." Toner says. "Yesterday's winners are the first ones up." Barbara & Eddy, Tammy & Rachel, and Diesel & DeeDee step up and get the first clue.
"Route Info: get on a bus to Buenos Aires." Barbara reads. Buenos Aires is the capital of Argentina. The city is known for football, theater, and meat. Players will travel via two-day bus ride to the city and find their next clue there.
"Let's go!" DeeDee says. As the Oasis runs off, Kit & Kitty and Jasper & Mitch get their clues and they run for the bus as well. Once they get on, the settle in for the long ride.

"You know, you're gonna have to tell the twins what happened yesterday eventually." Diesel says. DeeDee just sighs, knowing he's right.
"I know." She says. "I feel bad for being sucked into one of Tammy's crazy schemes. And it could've costed our only allies the race."
"Well, they're right up there. Honesty is the best policy. Go and tell them." DeeDee gets up and walks down the aisle. She sits down from across Kit & Kitty.
"What's up, DeeDee?" Kit asks.
"Nothing much." She replies. "But listen, there's something we need to talk about."
"What is it?" DeeDee scratches the back of her head, unsure of where to begin.
"Well, during the superteam challenge, Tammy stole your gold bird."
"What?!" Both twins replied.
"And..." This is where the Policefur starts to sweat. "... I may have... helped."
"Double what?!" The twins say again.
"I'm sorry! I didn't want to. It's just that we were losing and I had no idea what to do. My number one priority is to get those Olympians out of here and it always has been." Kit holds up a paw.
"Save it, DeeDee. I'm glad you're being honest, but it's still a harsh thing to do." Kit says.
"Ok." DeeDee replies, a bit heartbroken. "If you ever want to talk, you know where to find me." She gets up and walks to the back of the bus. As she passes, Tammy tries her best to look like she didn't listen. When she's sure DeeDee is out of earshot, she puts her thinking cap back on.
"Did you hear that?" Tammy asks. "Sounds like the Policefur and twin alliance is starting to fracture. This is the opportunity to finally send one of them home." Rachel just rolls her eyes.
"I can't believe I still have to go through this kind of talk." She mutters. Then she focuses her attention to Tammy. "Listen, I want no part in whatever you're planning. But you realize that if you mess up, we could both get penalized."
"I'm aware. Right now, we have an alliance to solidify and another to break apart. One way or another, by the end of this leg, I will achieve both goals."

After 2 days of being on a bus, with numerous stops, the bus pulls up outside River Plate Stadium, the next stop in the race. After stretching out their limbs, the Racers run out of the bus and over to the clue box. "Detour: Soccer or Sweetener." Jasper says. Teams can either kick a soccer ball from one end of the field and back or take a small packet of mystery contents, spread it over a piece of red meat and eat it all. Do either and they get the next clue.
"I think we should do Sweetener." Mitch says. "After all, I really like meat."
"Me too. Remember that time my dad brought a steak to your 19th birthday party. You smelled like BBQ sauce for a week."
"I know!" The frat bros run inside followed by the rest of the teams.
"Easy choice. Soccer." Rachel says.
"Didn't we already do a challenge like this in Australia?" Tammy asks. She sure remembers kicking a ball somewhere in the world before.
"I... think so."
"Sweetener." Barbara says. "I don't know if I can run and kick that far without getting tired."
"We know. You're not the most athletic person." Eddy says.
"Easy. Soccer. We did all the time back home." DeeDee says.
"Where are you two even from?" Kitty asks.
"No time to answer that." DeeDee along with Diesel get a soccer ball and they start kicking it. Kit pulls Kitty aside before they start.
"What were you doing conversing with the enemy?" Kit asks.
"What? Just because they stabbed us in the back doesn't mean to space her out." Kitty says. "Besides, were bigger than that. Our real threat is Tammy. It always has been." She starts kicking a ball down the field.
"Wait for me!" Kit says. She runs to catch up to her sister. Meanwhile, the Olympians remain in the lead. They're almost already at the other end of the field.
"This challenge is almost too easy." Tammy says.
"I've been wanting to ask you something?" Rachel asks.
"What?"
"You're not gonna sabotage anyone today are you?"
"Depends on what the next challenge is. We're too far ahead to do that now." She turns around and sees the Policefurs catching up to them. "Speaking of being ahead, run! Diesel & DeeDee are right behind us!" Rachel gets to the other end first shortly followed by Tammy.
"Sweet! We're still in first!" Rachel says. They pass the Policefurs.
"See at the finish line mall cops!" Tammy shouts.
"Oh no she didn't!" DeeDee shouts. Meanwhile, Jasper & Mitch and Barbara & Eddy had chosen Sweetener. On a table is four pieces of meat along a bowl of yellow packets with a question mark on it. Jasper takes one and opens it. When he takes a whiff, he sneezes.
"Gesundheit." Mitch says.
"Thanks." Jasper says. "I think this is garlic powder."
"Really? Lucky. I wonder what I get." Mitch grabs the first yellow packet he sees and opens it. "Just ketchup. Awesome!" As they spread their contents on their own meat and dig in, Barbara & Eddy get their packets and they open them.
"Mayo! You've gotta be kidding me!" Barbara says.
"Nice! I got sugar!" Eddy says.
"Wait! Switch with me! Please!"
"Nope. You can't I can't do that." Eddy spread the sugar on his piece of red meat and starts eating.
"Fuck this!" Barbara says. She tosses her packet away and starts eating. Jasper shivers a little from the first taste of garlic but he likes it. Mitch's mind wanders back to that birthday party, imagining the ketchup now is the barbeque sauce he had then. Eddy thinks the taste of meat and sugar is kinda weird but not the worst. Barbara's mayo packet lies on the grass, still full.
"Almost there." Tammy says. Her and Rachel run for the next clue box, making sure their soccer balls stay ahead of them. Tammy kicks hers hard and it goes flying. She doesn't even look to see that it his Mitch on the head.
"Dude, you alright?" Jasper asks.
"Yeah. I'm fine, mommy." Mitch mindlessly says before collapsing.
"This ain't good." Tammy & Rachel make it to the clue box and the get their next instructions.
"Route Info: drive to Lezama Park to find the next clue." Rachel reads. "Let's go!" The Olympians take off to the 5 awaiting cabs outside. The Policefurs and twins manage to complete the Soccer challenge with no problem. As they get outside, Kit gets in the drivers sit and Kitty in passenger. They drive off to the park before DeeDee can even open the backseat door.
"You see what Rio has done to us?" Diesel asks. "It made us their targets!"
"Whatever. I'm gonna get those Olympians out for messing with my alliance." DeeDee says. She quickly gets in her own cab and the two head off.
"Dude!" Jasper shakes Mitch awake.
"Wha? What happened?" Mitch asks.
"Tammy accidentally knocked you out with a soccer ball. I finished my meat. You only have a little left. C'mon, dude!" Mitch gets up and sees what he has left. It's barely the size of his fist. He picks up the rest of the red meat and shoves it in his mouth in one piece.
"Woah." Is all Jasper can say. The two boys get the next clue and head off, leaving Barbara & Eddy in last place.
"Done!" Eddy says.
"Me too!" Barbara says. "Let's go! I didn't spend two days on a bus to lose now!" The two of them run for it to hopefully catch up.

The Olympians are the first ones to make it to the park. Tammy gets the clue and reads it. "Roadblock: time to tie up loose ends." Whoever didn't climb a flagpole in Antarctica must use a boleadora to tie up a mannequin with their team's photo on it. Once they do, they must take it, on foot, down the street to Hospital General de Agudos, where the checkpoint lies. Last team there could be heading home.
"Looks like it's your turn." Rachel says.
"I guess." Tammy says. She gets a brilliant idea while looking at Kit & Kitty's dummy. Time to send one of them home, she thinks. She gets out her emergency bottle of vegetable oil and squirts it all over the twin's mannequin. "Oops. I hope that doesn't hurt their chances of winning." Sarcasm heavy in her voice.
Tammy grabs her bole and swing it around. It slips off her paw though and it knocks into a tree. "Crud. I have some on my paws." She says, clenching and unclenching her sticky fingers. Rachel just facepalms herself.
The twins soon arrive as Tammy takes another try. "Roadblock and it's my turn to do this." Kit says. "Now which one's our mannequin?" The two look through all five.
"There." Kitty says, pointing to the one in the middle. Kit takes a closer looks at it.
"How come ours looks... oily?" Tammy overhears and evilly giggles. "Of course."
"What makes you think I did it?" Tammy innocently asks.
"We can see the oil on your paws!" Kitty points.
"Well, I've sabotaged the other so much, I didn't want you two left out."
"It can't be that hard, right?" Kit asks. She swings her bole and throws it at her dummy. The boles wrap around it, but they slip off. "This is gonna be hard." Tammy tries her bole again but it slips out of her paws again.
"Damn it! Bitten by my own brilliance!" Tammy shouts.
"Looks like karma's gotten you two quite a bit!" Kitty shouts, trying to rub it in. Kit tries her bole again but she misses completely. While those two find themselves in a slippery position, Rachel sits on the sidelines thinking. After seeing Tammy fail for the fifth time, she steps up.
"Listen, it's obvious you can't do it." Rachel says. She runs over and grabs a dry bole and swings it around.
"We'll get a penalty if you do that!" Tammy says.
"Thanks to what you did to the sisters, I think we'll have time to wait it out." Rachel says. She tosses her bole at their dummy and it ties on. "Yes! To the hospital!" She runs over and grabs her dummy with Tammy following close behind.
"What do we do?" Kit asks.
"I don't know. Here come the Policefurs." Kitty says, pointing behind her. DeeDee stops her can and the run out and get the clue.
"Huh. I guess it's your turn Diesel." DeeDee says.
"Nice." Diesel grabs a bole and looks at the twins. "Uh, what happened to you two?"
"Tammy happened." Kit says. "She sabotaged the dummies and now we can't do this."
"I told you she was the enemy!" DeeDee says. She gets a whiff of the air around her. "Is that vegetable oil?"
"Yes it is." Kit says.

Tammy & Rachel make it to the checkpoint rug where Toner sits. "Well, well, well ladies. You're in first place. But..." Toner starts out.
"We know!" Tammy says. "20 minute penalty, I was supposed to tie up the dummy, blah, blah, blah. We get it!"
"Alright." Toner walks away. The two sit on the ground to wait out their penalty. Meanwhile, Jasper & Mitch and Barbara & Eddy make it to the park for their next challenge. "You're kidding right?" Barbara asks. "I have to do this?"
"Yes." Eddy says, handing her the bole. "You know I climbed the pole in Antarctica. I still get chills at night from the thought of it."
"Sweet! My turn!" Mitch says.
"You can do it, dude!" Jasper says. Diesel throws his bole but misses. When he runs to get it, he trip and falls on the ground.
"Ahhhh! My wrist!" Diesel cries. He tries moving his right paw but feels nothing but pain.
"What happened?" Kitty asks.
"I can't feel my wrist! And what's worse is... I'm right-handed! How am I supposed to do this challenge?"
"You're gonna have to use your left paw." Diesel stands up, swings the bole with his left paw and throws it at his dummy. He misses completely.
"You've got to be kidding me!" Diesel shouts. Kit throws her bole again and it slips off the dummy. Mitch tries to grow his but his aim's off.
"I think it's because of that blow to the head." Mitch says.
"You can't give up now, man!" Jasper says. "Just focus. Keep your eye on the dummy and keep trying." Barbara swings her bole and throws it. It makes it into the dummy and ties it down.
"Yes!" She cheers. As she grabs it and her and Eddy run off, the only thing in her head is "final four, here we come!" The critics see the hospital and Toner and they step on the rug. However, Tomer pushes them back off. "Sorry you two, but since Barbara didn't eat her red meat with the contents she chosen, you two are stuck with a 20 minute penalty."
"Awwww man!" Eddy says.
"Join the club." Tammy says. Her and Rachel play card games, seeing as they could be there a while.
"Deal us in?" Barbara asks.

"Dude my head is spiraling!" Mitch says. He feels dizzy and woozy as if he's gonna pass out again.
"Mitch! You can't give up now!" Jasper says. "I've got an idea." He gets behind Mitch, grasps his head both paws and brings it upwards see he can see the mannequin. "Now swing that bole and tie us a victory!" With all his concentration, Mitch swings his boleadora, and throws it. It wraps around their dummy and Jasper let's go of Mitch.
"Woohoo!" Jasper says. He grabs the tied up dummy and the two run for the checkpoint. Kit still has trouble with her greasy one. That's when suddenly, she looks at her sister and gets an idea.
"I know how we can do this." She says. "Kitty, go up to the mannequin and shape yourself exactly like it."
"Ok?" Kitty says, unsure of what's gonna happen. She gets in front of the dummy and looks at her sister. Kit throws the bole at her and she gets tied down with the dummy. This time, it stays on.
"Yes! It worked!" Kit cheers.
"You had to come up with a plan that involved me getting tied down too?" Kitty asks.
"Sorry." The twins run off, causing Diesel to panic.
"Cmon!" He tells himself. "Like Jasper said. Focus." He grabs the bole with his left paw, swings it around and throws with all his might at the dummy and it gets tied down. "Finally!"
"Nice one!" DeeDee says. She goes over to the dummy and picks it up. "Now run for it!"

"You're time is expired." Toner says. "Olympians come in first." Tammy & Rachel cheers and they step off the rug. Jasper & Mitch come into view. Barbara & Eddy get nervous as they might be last. They still have 2 minutes left in their penalty before they can check in.
"And in second place..." Toner says.

A team steps on the rug. "Jasper & Mitch!"
"Woo!!" Jasper says. Mitch collapses to the ground and sleeps. Toner helps drag him off. The twins and Policefurs come into view of the hospital.

"There's the checkpoint!" Diesel says. The Policefurs pass the twins. DeeDee looks back at them. Although she knows they might never forgive her, this might be a start.
"Diesel. We have to let them pass." DeeDee says.
"Fine." Diesel rolls his eyes. The two slow down enough that Kit & Kitty pass them.
"What are they doing?" Kitty asks.
"Not sure." Kit says.

"Penalty expired! Critics come in third." Toner says.
"Yes!" Barbara says. Her and Eddy step off the rug. Kit & Kitty soon step on.
"Twin you're fourth."
"Awesome!" Kitty says. "Now would someone mind getting me out of this!" She struggles against the bole as Kit walks off to find scissors. Diesel & DeeDee step on the rug already aware of the bad news.
"Policefurs. You're in last." Toner says.
"We get it." DeeDee says. "I guess we're out, huh."
"Yes... If it was elimination. But it wasn't! You two are still in the race.
"Booyah!" DeeDee says.
"Nice." Diesel says. "Now would someone mind getting me a doctor about my wrist."
"Sure thing." Toner says. "Well, we had five and five still remain. But I can say that someone will be crying tears next time on... the Amazing Race."
