#1 of Beast of Feeling

Notes: This story is unfinished and a bit choppy, but I'm having trouble pursuing it any further. I'm hoping to receive some constructive criticism on the whole thing, but please do not insult my personal kinks. They're what I like no matter how over-used or old they may be. It's what turns me on therefore they're staying in here. Now with that said I would also like to point out that there's plenty of sex and some of it seems pointless. Well, a lot of it seems pointless. But hey, sex is fun and enjoy writing it, so please bear with me if you don't enjoy that sort of thing. Also there is no sex in the first chapter, plenty to come soon though. I sound so contradictory so often! The prologue is very pointless, but it was part of a writing I was going to use for a term paper and without it this story wouldn't have come about. I'm keeping it in since it was the beginning of this whole idea. One last very important note! I refer to beasts that transform at night as Were/Weres, always capitalized, instead of werewolves. I hope that's not too confusing. I hope you enjoy! Please tell me what you think. * * *

Prologue

  • * * Instinct is described in various ways, but generally comes down to one thought; the body's reaction to get the what it needs. But what exactly determines what we need? Surely we need water and food. However, do we really need the other things instinct calls for? Shelter, clothing, even sex. Can't we live without these things? There are many that do, yet we still yearn for them all the same. This fact is none truer than with a certain young lady. She once had a name, one of great pull in higher circles and was of a high lineage, but fate has a funny way of toying with those it affects. No, she would not grow up to be that darling wife of a rich noble as she so longed for. Instead she would live day to day--or, rather, night to night-- forging her way through on the one thing that keeps us alive; instinct. * * * * * *

Chapter One: When the Clock Ticks Dawn

  • * * The soft mist of the early morning hanged heavy. The first rays of light had not yet warmed the soft blades of grass, but the lightening sky hinted at the inevitable appearance of light and warmth. Trees of hundreds of years surrounded the small enclosure in which the woman slept. There was no cover, no shelter, but a small nest of the softest grass in the vast land. She had slept soundly for what little hours she did until the nip in the air brought her back to consciousness, only to find that she had been so unmoved during the night that her olive skin was now covered in drops of morning dew. She shivered involuntarily, taking quick notice to the fact that she was, once again, left in the nude. And that overwhelming emotion of fright and fear engulfed her again as she noted stained blood beneath those perfectly manicured nails, the strong taste of iron still fresh on her lips. Red marks of her dirty deeds of the evening rested in small drops on the soft grass around her. Something else was dirtier than usual though. She could only remember hazy snippets of the night, but this one completely escaped her. She knew well enough what a state her body was in; one of pure satisfaction, of..contentment. Such complete and utter contentment that she had never truly felt before. She would have worried on it, been frightened about what she had done that made her feel so wonderfully at one with the world, but instead she simply sat back on her haunches, cradling her bare skin and enjoyed the moment. It wasn't often that she could drop her worries and simply enjoy her life for what it was. Then again few in her state ever did. Ravenous nights of passion, want and need. A greedy creature that ran beneath the moonlight, blissfully unaware of the social degrees that every other person had. For at that time she was not human. She was what those frightened villagers had whispered and later shouted at her so many years ago; Kailas, the werewolf. Dirty. Her mind had wandered from the point. She felt content in the base need, a contentment that also left her dirty. She feared the result when she did it, but there was no choice, she had to check. Her fingers slowly slid between slender, parting legs and, sure enough, the leftover juices of another mating. Probably another wild dog or wolf roaming about that happened across her horny self, once again in heat. She found as the years went by her nightly outages were ever-more plagued with that dreadful heat that had her throwing herself on every animal in sight. But then why did she feel so content? So at home with herself, like a part of her that had been missing was now made whole? Surely it couldn't be..She couldn't breed with wild animals and not one intelligent creature had ever come close to her before when in that state. Not without being torn to shreds at least. Kailas shuddered at the thought, forcing her mind away from it. The contentment was fading as the first rays of light began to pierce her small nook that she had managed to find last night. The nudity was a definite problem now as it always was, along with finding one of her many hideaways in which to recover herself from the evening's expedition. Kailas had been around long enough now to accumulate a good amount of wealth. So she accounted for her nightly raids, setting herself up on the edge of the city in which she worked, knowing all too well that instinct would drive her deep into the forest and away from those poor, unsuspecting civilians. Then she purchased wide tracts of land within a hundred mile radius, cabins placed strategically here and there along with many a marker that the layman would most likely never find; the strong scent of her own urine. A disgusting way to do things for certain, but her human urine was far different from that of her night self and her nose was still just as keen during the day. She did have to retrace the paths and re-mark them every so often. Still, she figured it far less disgusting than some of the things she did at night. It didn't take long for her nose to pick up the scent of herself, both Were and human. A matter of seconds and she had separated the two, following a track up a bumpy slope to find a cabin set just on the ledge. It was a good thing too. Hunting season was around the corner and there would be plenty of people not paying heed to the restrictions of private property. The last thing she wanted was to come across a bunch of boozed up hunters wailing and whistling at the naked lady they came across. Maybe even worse than just whistling and wailing. She made a mad sprint for the door, locking it as quickly as possible and pulling the shades to darken the room. It didn't even have a bedroom as many of her cabins did. Only the one room, some clothes piled in a box and a shower with fresh towels. It wasn't long before she was in the hot shower, much hotter than what was required. It was always some failed attempt at washing away the horrible feelings that stirred within her after every nightfall had passed. Of course this time was different. She wasn't feeling as horrible as she usually did. That same contentment held on by a small thread, her rational thoughts trying desperately to rid herself of that emotion. Surely nothing she did last night should leave her in such a state. The woman left the shower equally as disturbed as she was when she got in. She was dressed in a fine white top, glistening with small jewels around her succulent neck. The sleeves billowed gracefully down to her elbows. A light beige sash knotted around her tiny waist before leading to white pants, matching beige lines making the smallest pinstripes across the light fabric. Each cabin also came with a few essentials; a full length mirror and a telephone. She checked herself in the mirror first only to find that she was as pleased with herself today as she was any day. Age was never a problem; not a wrinkle had shown up in all of these years. She still looked in her mid-twenties with a smooth complexion, dark black eyes and tan colored hair. She was happy to find her outfit matched the silken locks today; they ran down the entire length of her body, a good five foot, seven inches from head to toe. Those light strands made it all the way to her ankles. But that was unmanageable today, so she called in a ride before returning to the mirror to pin up the lengthy mass, leaving a tight bun with a good deal slipping out of its center to dangle to the small of her back. One of the company cars was coming to get her. Luckily each cabin had a good road leading to its front. She had just been unlucky not being at the front doorstep when she woke. Ten minutes later she was in a limousine with the window rolled up, knocking out any chance for idle conversation as she whipped out the phone in the backseat, burying herself in her work as she often did to try and forget the night's events. It worked fairly well too; she had a lot of meetings with potential clients, a possible hostile takeover to deal with. Many a thing to distract her. And yet her mind was wandering back to that night. Something happened, something far more troublesome than any other night before. She met someone..yes, she was almost certain of it now. But was it male? Female? Did she kill again? Kailas could feel her stomach clench at the thought. Oh, yes, that had to be it. She had killed him and then screwed his dead body. She was never certain of the capabilities of herself at night; who's to say that she couldn't do it? She had to quickly pick up a conversation she was in where she had paused mid sentence. It didn't matter much anyway, for seconds later they had moved into the streets of the bustling city and pulled up onto the curb of a large sky scraper. So large that it did, in fact tower, over all of its neighboring brothers and sisters, the clear morning sky of 6AM now reflecting billowing white clouds across the reflecting logo of glass that almost blended in with the windows on which it was mounted. Large, bold letters spoke the name of her company; Meldalin Industries. Walking into the building was like stepping foot into another world. She absolutely loved her architects for they had created the Eden she had so desired. Greece spilled from every corner; marble ran the length of the foyer with a number of small patches barren in between. Plants of various kinds from all over the world were placed in the small spots, a fountain that reached three stories setting off the entire mood. Hanging vines draped here and there from staircases or statues of various species of furs. Inside her building was also a jungle of species. Felines, canines, lupines, cervines, humans; everything under the sun except for Weres. At least to anyone's knowledge that was under her employ. The usual greeting came from the foyer and from various workers and clients as she made her way to her private elevator, running her normal track. A hand print identification let her onto the steel contraption to be taken to the top floor. A world of calming beige greeted her eyes as the pleasant ding of the elevator doors spreading was heard. She absolutely loved the color, finding it just as soothing as ever. Only two people stayed on this floor; herself and the golden tamarin female, her secretary named Lina. Lina was prompt as ever, up from her desk with the list of deals for the day, several that Kailas had arranged only moments earlier on the phone. The tamarin fell into step with her as she made for the doors to her office. "Good mornings Ms. Kailas. There's a board meaning at ten o'clock today with-" Kailas dismissed the jabber with a wave of her hand, "Yes, yes. Board meetings will happen throughout the day. I have an emergency one to schedule about this takeover as is. What I need to know is what comes first." Lina nodded, taking no offense at Kailas's clipped tone. It was her way when she was annoyed with something else, "A Mr. Lyko Kurgous will be here to see you in ten minutes to discuss his smaller company possibly merging with yours." "Fine, just send him in whenever he gets here," Kailas all but snapped the words, closing the door in such a purposeful manner that Lina knew all too well not to follow her to discuss anything else. Kailas hated herself for being so short with poor Lina. She was just an easy outlet, as she often was. She often suspected the only reason the woman hung around was because of a high paycheck. That was a thought to be dealt with later. Kailas took in her office in a matter of moments, making sure everything was in its usual place. The same motif as the first room filled the expansive place, a large mahogany desk filled with paperwork and other such utensils took up most of the space. No decoration was in that work space, but books lined one entire wall and many other Greek-styled statues were strategically placed next to couches and a long glass table set to one side of the room. She was happy to see that Lina had already dove into the work on her desk, setting everything in neat piles all in order of what should be dealt with when. Kailas could always feel relaxed in this room. Perfect, in order, prim and strict. Not like the hectic nightlife of unknowing, chaotic turmoil she went through every evening. Unlike most she was a full-blooded demon of the night. Her curse was strong enough to reign down upon her every single evening unlike the half breeds that were only affected at full moon times. Her thoughts were back on the night before, trying desperately to make the fuzzy memories become clear when she heard a light rap on the door. The man didn't even bother to wait for her call of entry, a point of irritation that she checked off in her mind. She was happy that she had found the cushiony leather chair before he entered for the sheer scent alone of him would have knocked her off of her feet. The lustful wolf had obviously taken no precautions in hiding his deeds from the evening before, for the potent scent of sex exuded from every inch of him. Either that or her sensitivity to male wolves was having an affect on her. Even in a black suit that covered every inch of him save for paws, tail and head, it was easy to see that he was attractive and fit. The tailor made outfit clung and tucked inward at all of the right places, accentuating his brutish, large figure. And was he ever large! The maned wolf must have reached at least eight feet, his ears bound to add an inch of height even. His face was lean and gorgeous, a charming smile and glinting blue eyes focused on her every second. His colors were fantastic! She had heard of maned wolves before but had never seen one. The shocking black line that ran down his forehead and between his ears accentuated every feature of his face, dark black paws blending with the black of his suit and contrasting that golden brown fur that covered his face and tail. Kailas stood and tried to hold her breath to keep herself from getting too excited. But she had been in worse conditions than this before, especially with the wild night life she had. So with only a mild effort she was able to plaster on a smile and slowly grow used to his scent as he came to stand before the desk. She offered a hand and spoke in a pleasant tone, "Mr. Kurgous, a pleasure." "The pleasure is all mine," he rumbled, rough paw pads taking hold of her soft hand and tilting it to place a soft kiss. She could feel that light tongue even give a soft roll across her skin before he lifted, same charming smile still in place. A smooth talking womanizer. Years of work with businessmen of all kinds taught her quickly to keep defenses up; this small gesture was enough to make sure she kept her head screwed on tight in this conversation. And it helped to send a small chill of want and arousal through her spine. Such a warm kiss, her mind wandered to what those lips could do.. Kailas snapped herself back to attention by moving again, taking her seat to initiate the meeting. She kept her eyes glued to paperwork, not daring to take another peek at that attractive frame as she rummaged through the different information, "Lyko Kurgous. Your parents must have had a sense of humor Mr. Lyko." When she looked up she noticed he was still standing, smile on his face and tail wagging, paws folded before him. She gestured to one of the many chairs, "Please, have a seat." "I'm sorry Ms. Meldalin, I prefer to be up and moving in the mornings. Stretch the legs as it were. Now how do you mean, my parents and a sense of humor?" his smile never seemed to leave as he questioned, that tail continuing its swishing motion. It wasn't long before she realize exactly what he was doing. He was spreading out his scent as much as he could with that bushy tail of his. The little bastard was trying to get her aroused! No, even worse. He was succeeding. Luckily her skin tone kept the heat in her cheeks from being all too apparent. She snapped the papers flat on the desk, "Your name of course. Surely you know?" "Ah yes, the play on the name Lykourgos, said to be a mixture of the words ‘wolf' and ‘deed'. Even more so the name is said have belonged to a Spartan lawgiver who denied the cult of Dionysus and paid dearly for it. I am said to be related somehow, but what do parents know, hm?" He moved to the side of the desk as he spoke, hip leaning against it and one large paw feeling the sleek top of the wood. "Would you mind staying off of my desk? It doesn't come cheap," she snapped, but in a light enough tone to not give away just how angry she was with the action. She always hated it when people invaded on her space. "Oh, but it might be of interest for you to know that I do come cheap. And if you wish to have this deal go through maybe we can compromise. Say I lean on your desk and you get to take control of my company?" Before she could even reply his smile broadened and he quickly continued, "It is an interesting name, as is yours. Apparently both of our parents enjoyed plays on words." Kailas swallowed, her stomach feeling as if someone had dropped a ball of ice into it, "I beg your pardon?" "Surely if you know the history of my name you must know yours. No?" Kailas only stared at him, heavily debating whether she wanted to continue this deal or kick him out right now. "That is a surprise then. Well there was once said to be a village on the outskirts of a city called Ristad. They had a muddled language, one that was never properly recorded and so is lost to us. But a few words stuck around, one being your name, meaning ‘wolf'. As far as anyone knows at least. The village was plagued with stories of Weres until one day, according to historians, they all just up and died in a bloody massacre of some sort. "Maybe you're related to someone in that village, just like I'm related to some old Spartan," it was only Lykos's chuckle that kept Kailas from seeing that he wasn't purposely prodding her. Nor did he seem to know what he was saying to her. She knew she shouldn't have kept this name. Those bloody thoughts of waking on that cold morning came rushing back in a horrifying instance. Waking up in a pool of cold water, wiping what she thought was dirt off of her face with it. Then, looking down at her hands, she realized it wasn't water at all. And that dirt on her face wasn't first, but chunks of flesh and skin. There she lay, asleep atop of the hefty meal she had partaken of, leftover remnants of family and friends. "Kailas?" Lyko prodded gently. Kailas was quick to respond, eyes snapping to him as a harsh business tone cooling her emotions, "Sorry, I am distracted this morning. As our entire conversation seems to be for that matter. May we please get back to business?" "Certainly, but why stay in this place to discuss things? I know a quiet little spot where we could grab breakfast, my treat. After all it is very early. I suspect you haven't eaten Ms. Meldalin. It is Miss, isn't it?" That grin of his one grew as his paw slowly slid forward, grasping firmly at her left hand and rolling across the fingers, "At least I noticed no ring." A quick tug and her hand was free, though she could already feel her heart flutter at the light touch. What the Hell is wrong with me? Such simple, blatant flirting and I'm acting like a school girl! On the outside, however, she was calm and cold as ever, "That is none of your business Mr. Kurgous-" "Please, call me Lyko." "-Mr, Kurgous. As I was saying, my relationship status is none of your concern and I am far too busy to spend my time driving to a restaurant to chat about business when I can easily do it here. Now if you don't mind I would like to get back to business." Either Lyko realized he had pushed it too far for the time being or he had simply given up, for upon the strong refusal he finally stood and moved to a proper seat, paws folding in his lap. "Of course Ms. Meldalin, how rude of me to keep you from your business. Please, continue with the negotiation." His words seemed sincere enough, but that cocky smile of his was gone and his tail was no longer wagging. Kailas already missed his scent and the warming affects that came with it. The rest of their time together went as quickly and uneventful as the day did. They both parted on normal business terms and Kailas continued her work, barely giving him even another thought for a good hour. But he kept creeping into her mind, some sort of familiarity that nagged at her. She knew him somehow, but couldn't put her finger on it. And every time she thought about it she shrugged it off, continuing onward with the meetings and paperwork until four in the afternoon. Kailas was known for her prompt departure time. Being the head of a strong company such as hers didn't leave much room for argument. Her only boss was the government and they didn't give a damn when she left so long as she paid her taxes. She was smart enough by now to know that she needed to be in a cabin before nightfall hit; her timing gave her driver just enough time to take her deep in the woods for her evening outing.
