"There is never no time for fun!"

Welcome to Chapter 7! This one is a bit goofy!

I awaken the next morning with a huge yawn, stretching languidly as I always do after a fitful night of sleep.

The events of the past day are beyond me. Everything is a sort of haze. I faintly recall a storm of emotions, fear, contempt, anger, sorrow, happiness, an enormous surge of lust, and then a sense of endless peace.

The events attached to the feelings are beyond me. I immediately conclude that the past day had been very hard. Otherwise I wouldn't have slept as well as I did.

With a loud sigh I fall back onto my bed, staring up at the glass ceiling and the blue sky beyond it. It is a beautiful day, butterflies and bees fluttering by periodically, obviously headed for my rooftop garden.

I smile, my mind drifting to thoughts of Felix. I remember him being with me the past night. For reasons I cannot recall, but it makes me happy to know that he was there. He obviously loves and cares for me far more than I had ever thought.

After a long while of watching the clouds and insects sweep by I sit up and begin to get out of bed.

My fur stands on end when something shifts beside me and groans. I eye the lump beneath my sheets, my ears pricking, and slowly slide out of the bed, grabbing my dagger off of the headboard.

With silent steps I creep around the bed as the figure gets up with its back to me and yawns, stretching. I growl softly as it gets out of the bed and begins to turn in my direction. I lift my dagger high, baring my fangs and then drop it as I am met by groggy emerald eyes.

Felix blinks, staring at me with a smirk, "I guess you slept well." He murmurs.

I lower my arms, staring at him, deeply stunned. "uh, yeah..."

He chuckles, bending over and picking up my dagger. "Obviously," he murmurs, looking at the blade and the sapphire studded hilt.

I nod, my eyes wide, my brain still trying to register the fact that he is in my house, in my room, and that he had slept in my bed.

I watch attentively as he polishes the blade on his boxers and hands it to me. "I didn't know you were into weapons."

I take the blade, holding it in both of my hands, "I'm not. My daddy gave it to me. He said it would keep me safe."

Felix nods, "that blade was definitely meant to keep someone safe. He murmurs. Double sided diamond edged blade, Black steel core, chrome plating and a weighted hilt." He nods again, "that thing could cut through steel and bone like butter."

I look at the blade and hold it out a little further from my body, "oh, that's nice." I hook it back onto my headboard admiring it with a new respect.

Felix laughs, "didn't mean to scare you babe." He purrs.

"No, no, it's okay. It's just, a surprise, that's all. Weapons tend to frighten me. My dad gave me a handgun once. I almost killed my brother with it. I've never felt the same about weapons since then."

Felix nods, "I see."

I step towards him and hold my arms out, "It's nice to see you." I murmur.

He purrs and takes me up in his arms. "You too babe." He nuzzles my head with his chin.

I murr softly and then look up at him, "why didn't you leave last night?" I ask.

His eyes darken, "I was worried about you Sheath. You seemed... messed up somehow. It scared me, I haven't ever seen you act that way. Your head had left you. Anyway, your mom said that I should stay. She said it would make her happy to know someone was here to protect you."

I tilt my head, confused, "Protect me from what?"

He takes my head in his hands, "I would tell you, but your mother told me she would feel better if she told you herself."

I began to feel troubled myself, "Felix?"

He nuzzles me, "shhh love, there's nothing to worry about, at least not more than there was before. And I'm here for you, always."

I look up at him, wide eyed and filled with contempt, "What are you hiding from me Felix?"

He looks down at me, "I'm not hiding anything. You will know soon. I'm just keeping my promise to your mother. I don't want to have your parents' mad at me. I already have enough to worry about." His eyes darken, "It's already far too much. And some, far too important..."

I narrow my eyes, "Felix..."

He pulls me closer, "let's forget this, it's time to go and have a good time. I'm pretty sure we probably don't have much left here so we better spend it wisely."

I look into his green eyes, deeply confused...

* * *

The streets are already filled with the citizens of Animi, canines, foxes, and felines of varying age and species. I watch the passerby intently as we cruise along in Felix's sparking cobalt convertible. I turn to Felix as he lets out a loud sigh, a pang of worry rippling through me.

"You okay babe?" I murmur softly, nuzzling his tense shoulder.

I am glad to feel him relax a little as he replies, "I'm fine hun."

It isn't long before we pull up in front of The Marble coffee shop, one of our favorite hangout spots. I watch Felix intently as he climbs out of the car and shuts his door walking over to the passenger side and opening mine. He smiles at me as I climb out of the car stretching and enjoying the warmth of sunlight on my fur.

"It's such a beautiful day." I sigh, looking up at the sky, then turning back to Felix. The sparkle in his eyes makes me smile.

"It reminds me of you, beautiful, warm, and sweet." He rumbles, taking my hand and leading me into the shop.

I smile expectantly as we step in, the tantalizing aroma of coffee filling my nostrils. I turn to Felix to see a similar expression on his face as he leads me to a table in the back of the shop.

"So what will it be my sexy wolf?" he murmurs, picking up a menu, "Carmel latte, lavender frappe, a Cinna-slurp?"

I pick up my own menu and point to the strongest looking beverage on the menu. It is an espresso shot called the Mint Mocha Bomb.

"Let's get this." I growl giving him a devious look.

He smiles, "You read my mind."

Just then a pretty feline waitress walks up to our table, holding a pen and a notepad.

"What can I get you boys today?" she purrs.

Felix smirks, showing his fangs in a way that almost makes me, and the waitress, swoon. "We'd like two Mint Mocha Bombs for here please." He purrs, his voice resonant and seductive.

The waitress stands there for a couple of seconds with a brain dead look on her face before shaking herself and reapplying her courtesy smile.

"Yes, of course, anything else?" she mews, her voice dreamy and detached.

"That'll be all miss." Felix purrs flashing his fangs again.

The waitress almost feints, shakes herself again, and then stumbles away, headed for the kitchen.

Felix laughs softly to himself, "Works every time..."

I glare at him, full of desire, but as well angry that he had shown such flirtatious intent towards the waitress. It makes me feel vulnerable. Women are pretty and they have lots of things that I don't, and I'm sure it wouldn't be hard for one of them to steal my Felix away from me. After all Boy and Girl is the natural order of things.

He frowns at my obviously distressed expression, "What?"

I blink, staring at him intensely.

"What, what is it?" he yelps.

I blink and turn away from him, "Nothing." I growl.

He sighs, "Come on Sheath, let's not go through this again."

I growl louder, "Those stupid girls, with their pretty little faces and prissy little mood swings and what not. You still like them don't you!?"

Felix looks taken aback, "Oh come on sheath, really?"

I turn away from him again, furious.

"Babe, I love you." He says, "Nothing is going to change that, and for the record, I'm gay, that's for sure, and I have always been."

"How can you say that when you have done things with women before, I'm gay and I know that if you're truly gay then the idea of doing it with a woman makes you sick!" I mutter, without looking at him.

"And how do you think I lost so many girlfriends?" Felix murmurs.

I huff, flicking my tail.

"I tried to do it with a girl once, and I threw up all over her when I saw her..." he pauses, and continues with an edge of disgust "I don't understand how a guy can want that, honestly. I mean yeah you can make babies and what not, but..." he pauses again, "Sheath..."

I still don't look at him, but this time it's not because I'm mad. It's because I'm crying, wet tears sliding down my face.

"Oh Sheath." He murmurs, "You don't even know. You have so many things a girl doesn't have, things that I love, things that I want. I would never give you up for anyone, especially a girl. You're too amazing, too sweet, too sexy."

Another tear slides down my face as he wraps his arms around me from behind and puts his chin over my shoulder, "I love you bunches little wolf." He purrs.

I sniffle, leaning back against him, at loss for words. Felix is so amazing, even more amazing than I could ever have wished. The golden color of his fur seems to sink all the way into him, into his very heart and soul. He is so true, so honest, so loving.

I smile as he nuzzles against me, the rumble of his purring sending calming vibrations through my body, then he lets me go, kissing me on the cheek.

I slowly turn around, staring at him. He is beautiful and amazing; everything I've ever wanted, and the only thing I'll ever need. He completes me. Slowly I reach out and take his hand in mine, staring deep into his emerald colored eyes.

"Felix." I croak, my throat tight from crying, "You are the best thing that has ever happened to me."

I hold contact with his warm green eyes as I release his hand and I swear I see tears welling up in them until the moment is interrupted by the pretty waitress who arrives at our table with a platter adorned with our two small concoctions.

She turns to Felix, a dreamy look in her eyes as she places the drinks on the tabletop.

"Here you go guys." She says, her voice strangely level as she pushes Felix's mint bomb closer to him.

Felix flashes his fangs like he did before and the waitress beams at him as would a fan girl to a celebrity.

I stare at her for a long while as she stands there, staring at Felix in a way that quickly becomes disturbing, even to him.

He coughs softly, clearing his throat, "Um, yeah, that's it right?"

The waitress smiles creepily, "Yes..." She peals gently, batting her eyelashes, still looking seduced.

Okay, I've had enough of you bitch...

"Okay now, leave." I growl softly, giving her a heated look.

She looks at me as though she had forgotten I was there, "Oh um, sure thing." She mumbles, "I'll be around if you two need anything." She continues, looking back at Felix, "Okay?"

Felix stares at her.

She stares at him.

From the look in her eyes it seems like she is waiting for that moment of connection that always happens in romantic movies, but never does in real life. It is really pissing me off.

I growl loudly, "Take a hike missy!" I bark, furiously.

She yelps and scampers away.

Felix laughs, "That was nice of you to do."

"Shut up." I mutter, folding my arms, "You know I hate women."

"No," he says, "You only hate the women who like me."

"Shut the fuck up Felix." I mutter.

He laughs again, picking up his mocha mint bomb. "Well we had better get to drinking these before they get too cold."

With a growl I grab mine as a ruffian would a mug of beer and down the whole concoction in one dreg. I slam the mug down on the table and smile at Felix, savoring the warmth spreading through my body.

Felix smiles back and downs his bomb even faster than I had mine, setting his mug down gently and folding his arms.

For a while we stare at our empty cups, then we look up at each other and Felix seems to read my mind.

"Waitress!" he calls, spotting the pretty cat lady across the shop.

She prances over to our table, her eyes startlingly bright. I can see her fur rippling with excitement and with the caffeine from the mint bomb leaching into my system I'm getting another sudden urge to punch her in her pretty little face.

"Yes?" she peals, "What can I get you?"

"Get me ten more mint bombs." He growls softly, looking deep into my eyes and giving me a devious grin.

I can feel a challenge rising.

"Get me twenty." I say affirmatively, returning Felix's look with a heady intensity.

The pretty she cat looks from one of us to the other, then her eyes darken as she realizes she is being ignored.

"Um, right away." She says, her voice not so bright as it had been before.

Felix nods and we watch her scribble our orders on her notepad laughing to ourselves as she scampers away, muttering to herself.

When she disappears behind the counter Felix turns back to me, licking his lips.

"Bet you can't." He purrs.

"Bet I can." I murr back.

I smile.

He smiles.

"Let do this." He growls, interlacing his fingers and cracking his knuckles.

* * *

Within the next thirty minutes me and Felix consume over fifty Mint mocha Bombs between ourselves.

I am now twitching with energy, my heart beating at what feels like twice its normal rate and Felix is spinning around in his chair, giggling uncontrollably, and saying something about how short my eyelashes were and what it meant about other things.

Soon I am laughing along with him, twirling around in my chair with my arms and legs splayed out.

After a few moments the waitress returns and Felix stops spinning around, giving her a serious look. I stop too, watching him, waiting to up whatever number he is about to say by fifty, or seventy.

"I," he starts, but the waitress stops him before he can utter his numeral.

"Sir, I'm going to have to ask you and your friend to leave." She murmurs.

Felix stares at her confused for a moment before narrowing his eyes.

"Why?" he mutters.

The girl returns his hostile stare, "You need to go."

"But we're paying." He says, getting up and placing another hundred dollar bill in her hand.

She looks down at the money and sets her face, "Go or I'll call the police."

Felix growls, closing her hand firmly around the bill.

"Why don't you just take the money and get us fifty more minties?" he hisses dangerously.

I giggle and then clamp my jaws shut, confused as to what is so funny.

The waitress glares at him, opening her mouth to reply, but Felix is faster.

"Or," he continues, smiling his best seductive smile, "I could pay you in other ways."

He strokes his hand down her chest, smiling wider. The feline woman's body shivers visibly and my arm starts twitching spasmodically from a mixture of rage and an insane caffeine rush.

The waitress shakes herself and growls, looking up at my mate with cold, hungry, eyes.

"Um, Felix" I whimper, registering the inflamed look on her face.

Felix laughs, leaning forward to kiss her cheek, only to be met by her paw swiping, claws unsheathed, across his face.

He recoils with a yelp as the waitress stiffens her arms at her sides, her face turning red.

"You and your friend need to get the hell out of this shop before I call the fucking police!" She screeches, shoving him backward.

Felix falls over with a yelp of laughter. "Okay, okay," he chokes, "I got it missy."

I stare at them, feeling my heartbeat rise a little bit more.

"You had better have it you perv!" she snaps, throwing her notepad down on his chest.

Felix gets to his feet, brushing out his fur, "Sorry sweet thing." He murmurs, "Didn't mean to rub you the wrong way."

He picks up her notepad and holds it out to her, and she glares at his hand for a moment before reaching out and snatching it at which point he catches her hand, kissing her fingertips.

The resulting look shared between the two is so comical that I break out in hysterical laughter. You can almost see steam spouting from the lady's ears as she snatches her hand away, turning to me.

"You and your hustler pal need to get out of here before I call my boyfriend." She hisses, the fur on her shoulders rippling.

Out of the corner of my eyes I see Felix raise his eyebrows and I know why. It's pretty strange, her saying this after the looks she was giving him.

I stop laughing and turn to her, giving her the sweetest look.

One of her eyes twitches and Felix laughs again, coughing into silence when she glares at him.

"Well?" she growls.

"It's okay hun," I murr, turning to Felix, "he's my boyfriend."

She stares at me for a moment, then turns to Felix, then back to me. Her mouth drops open.

"You mean?" she says with a grimace.

"Yep." I reply cheekily, walking over to Felix who puts an arm around my waist, pulling me close.

"We're together." He says, finishing my statement.

I look up at him, smiling wide and shivering from all the caffeine in my bloodstream.

The waitress stares at us for a moment longer before grinning and hugging her notepad to her chest.

"How sweet." She purrs, her tone absent of the irritated growl it had harbored only moments ago, "you two make an adorable couple."

Felix nuzzles my head, "Yeah, we're lost in love." He murmurs.

I nearly gag at his sappiness, we are going to have to have a talk about this later.

"Couldn't live without him." I say, trying to match his tone.

The waitress smiles even wider, "You know what?" she says, "Call for me on your next visit and your orders are on the house."

Felix gives me a fiendish look and I shake my head, looking at the floor.

The lady's face smooth's out as she remembers why she had come over to us in the first place.

"To an extent." She says bitterly, but lightening her curt reply with a smile, "Would you two mind giving me your names?"

I frown, letting go of Felix, "Why?" I murmur.

"It's been ages since there's been a Same Sex Couple in this city," she says, and I cannot tell if her voice is cheerful or grim, "and never before one between two races!"

Me and Felix exchange a look. First Mrs. Paddy, and now this chick. We haven't even been together for a month and already we are gaining some strange following.

Felix smiles, stroking the fur on my back and I nod for him to take over.

"Anything for a gal as sweet as you." He purrs with timeless charm.

The waitress blushes.

"I'm Felix." He says hugging me closer to him, "and this is Sheath."

The waitress giggles, writing on her notepad.

"It's nice to meet you." She replies, presenting a hand,

I shake it and so does Felix before with a startled look she shoves us towards the door.

"And don't come back either!" she yowls, slamming the door in our faces and giving us a wink before turning and rushing up to a burly wolf who must be her boss.

I look up at Felix and he shrugs, taking my hand and leading me away from the storefront. As we get into the car I look up into his eyes. In them I can see the same darkness that I had seen during our ride to the shop.

It worries me...
