Which Rio Bird Is Which?
#21 of The Amazing Race 2
On the last leg of the Amazing Race, the players faced the coldness of Antarctica. They got to make their own forts and had to get the strength to climb up a flagpole. The Olympians got a penalty but they stayed at the mountain climbers weren't fast enough and were eliminated from the race. 6 teams remain. Who will say goodbye next? "Welcome back to Antarctica." Toner says. "Yesterday's winners are today's first clue-getters."
"Haven't been able to do this for a long time." DeeDee says. She steps up to the clue box and reads it. "Route Info: get on flight to Rio." More specifically, Rio de Janeiro. This city is known for its majestic birds, the movie, and the statue of a man with his arms spread out. Once the teams get here, the Racers will find a couple surprises.
"Let's go!" Diesel says. The other 5 teams get the clue and they quickly get on the same flight to Brazil.

"It feels good to finally be out of the cold." Rachel says. "I have no idea how much longer I could've taken it."
"Me neither." Tammy says. "I didn't know how much longer I could've taken Becky & KiKi. But now, I don't have to worry about them anymore." She leans back in her seat, feeling able to breathe now that her biggest threats are gone.
"Tammy, are you ever going to stop sabotaging the game? I mean, your cockiness and ignorance almost cost us the race yesterday."
"I apologize for that. I'll try my best to make sure we don't get penalized again."
"See to it that you do."
"Final 6." Kit says. "I never dreamed we would make it this far. We're really doing good."
"I know." Kitty says. "There's just one problem." She points over to Tammy, who starts falling asleep. "How are we going to do good knowing that she's still in the game?"
"Forget her. We just have to stay one step ahead of her."
"Who would ever think that we'd make it this far in the race?" Barbara asks. "On day one we labeled 'the Bickersons'. Now we're only steps away from a million bucks."
"It's pretty nerve racking." Eddy says. "Especially if we get cut now. I don't know about you, but I didn't come this far in this game for nothing."
"I feel the same way. But there's still the matter of the Olympians to take care of. I still haven't forgotten what they did to our friends."
"They've done this the whole race. Well think of something when we land." Eddy says. He lies down in his seat and tries to get some rest. Jasper & Mitch sit next to each other, fast asleep. They haven't been able to sleep this easily since the first day. Now that Zoe's gone, they don't have to worry anymore.
"It's cute how they sleep together like that." Joey says.
"I don't see it." Miles says. "But here's something hard to take in, those two boys are aligned with Tammy. With the twins and Policefurs having been in an alliance since the beginning, we're all alone."
"We could try teaming up with the critics. They lost their allies in Alaska. So, incase I got some info wrong, they're all alone in this game."
"We should try talking to them later on today."

After a long 6 hour flight, the racers are finally out of the cold and into the heat of sun-shiny Rio. The teams quickly leave the airport and get to the clue box waiting outside. "Route Info: get a cab to Copacabana." Miles reads.
"Hustle!" DeeDee says as everyone races to get in their own cabs and drive down to the beach. The Olympians struggle to continue their lead. Once teams make it to the beach, they find the clue box along with a million fake birds.
"What in the world?" Barbara asks. "What's this for?"
"I don't know." Eddy says. He presses the button on the clue box and he reads the clue. "Intersection: 2 superteams of 3 duos each will work together on the next task. Superteams will be determined by the order in which the clue had been grabbed." Tammy & Rachel soon arrive. Rachel takes the clue and reads it.
"Superteam?" She asks.
"Yep. I guess we're gonna be working together." Barbara says.
"Great." Tammy says, rolls her eyes.
"Well, it looks like us four and the next team to get the clue." Eddy says. The four of them wait around for a while before the Policefurs and twins eventually arrive. DeeDee gets the clue next and then Kit.
"Sweet!" DeeDee says. "Superteam!"
"Count again, genius." Tammy says. DeeDee looks and sees the two teams that already got the clue and then realizes she got it third.
"What?! Working with you?! No! No. No. No. No... NO!!!!!"
"We don't have a choice." Diesel says. DeeDee grumbles as she walks over to the others. Kit turns to her sister.
"Looks like it's us, the frat bros, and vegetarians." Kit says. "How could things possibly go wrong?" Jasper & Mitch eventually arrive and they take the clue.
"Superteam?" Jasper asks.
"Yep. You're with us!" Kitty says. The frat bros run over to them. Miles & Joey eventually arrive.
"Alright, this ain't so bad." Miles says.
"Yeah." Joey says. "Now, what's the challenge?" The challenge is for both superteams to search through the field of fake blue jay birds to find a red circle on the bottom of their feet. Once they find 10, they'll move on to the next challenge. As an added twist, both superteams are given a Fast Forward clue. Find two birds with golden circles instead of red ones and they can skip the next task and move directly to the checkpoint. Last original pair there... will probably be crying until the finale.
"C'mon superteam!" Kit says. Everyone dives into the fake birds and they start searching. Kitty and Jasper looks together.
"Nope. No circle." Kitty says, tossing the birds aside.
"None here either." Jasper says. Miles tosses a few aside, none with any circle.
"Found one!" Joey says. She hold up a bird and shows the bottom of its feet. A bright red circle shows on its right foot.
"Nice job, Joey." Kit says. "Only nine more left." Meanwhile, the other superteam isn't doing so great.
"You stink." DeeDee says to Tammy. "There's this thing called deodorant, you could use some."
"Speaking of using," Tammy talks back, "you could use some mouthwash, Little Miss Dog Breath."
"Ooooooh! Want a piece of this?"
"Bring it on, mall cop!" DeeDee takes Tammy to the ground and they start fist fighting.
"Should we do something about that?" Eddy asks.
"Not sure." Diesel says. "DeeDee has always been... a fighter to put things in nice words."
"I guess. They're kinda acting worse than Barbara and I at the beginning of the season."
"You think that's bad?" Rachel speaks up. "Tammy's been acting like this since we came in last in India. Ever since, she's been knocking out the competition. The tampered with the keys and gave Vince & Sam a penalty, salted Zax's cinnamon roll, cut Patricia's bobsled harness, and iced up Becky's flagpole."
"She caused all those teams to be eliminated?" Barbara asks. "We knew about Zoe & Patricia, but Vince & Sam? Milon & Zax? Why would she target them?"
"I'm not sure." DeeDee and Tammy still fight in the background. They even roll around in the birds a bit before the others decided it was enough.
"STOP!!!" Diesel and Rachel shout. That was enough to get their partners to quit fighting.
"I've had enough of this ridiculousness." Diesel says. "We're all supposed to be working together. No matter how much we all hate each other. We only have two birds, the have six."
"It pretty annoying that they're winning." Tammy says.
"Exactly." Rachel says. We need to be working together ok?" Tammy looks at DeeDee, both with irritated looks. She finally lets out a breath and gives in.
"Fine." Tammy holds out a paw. "Truce?" DeeDee considers this for a moment. If she says yes and she ends up backstabbing her, she'll end up destroying her. If she says no, they keep fighting and she could get knocked out of the race. Finally, DeeDee grasps Tammy's outstretched paw.
"Fine." DeeDee says. "But just until this challenge is done."
"Agreed." The six go back to searching through the birds. Tammy looks through a few until she finds one with a gold ring. "Yes! The Fast Forward is our grasp."
"Tammy, you need two of them." Barbara says.
"What? Well we've got to keep searching!" Suddenly, Rachel looks over at the other superteam. They have seven red birds and what appears to be a bird with a gold ring.
"We might want to hurry," Rachel says, "they've got one of the gold ones." The rest on her team look over and they start panicking. Except Tammy, who quickly gets an Ira and her evil grin grows again.
"I've got an idea." She says.
"Oh no. I recognize that look." Rachel says. "That's a look of badness coming."
"Look. Wanna win this leg of the race? All we have to do is steal their gold bird and BAM! We're in first place!"
"That's a crazy idea." Eddy says.
"But it'll guarantee none of us go home. Best case scenario: the meat-hating hippies go home."
"You're talking about sabotaging my friends." DeeDee says. "I'm not taking part in this."
"Oh, but you will. You distance the twins, I take the bird and viola, we get that Fast Forward. What do you say?" DeeDee looks over at Kit & Kitty. They're working so hard to stay in the race. And to win because they stole (well, it won't be her) a bird. She knows she's going to regret the decision she's about to make, but she has no other choice.
"Alright. I'll talk to the twins and you take the bird." DeeDee finally says, ignoring Diesel's look of shock. "But if you get caught, I'm pinning it all on you."
"I don't care." Tammy says. She evilly giggles as her and DeeDee walk away.
"What kind of Evil Oasis did I just create?" Diesel asks. Rachel just shrugs.
"Keep looking team, were nearly there." Kit says. The rest of the first superteam keep searching.
"Found another red one!" Joey says. She tosses it onto the pile of red birds. Kitty notices DeeDee walk over.
"Hi." Kitty says. "What're you doing here?"
"Team couldn't really find any." DeeDee says. "So they sent me over here to try and see if there's any over here." She reaches her paws in the piles of birds and searches their feet for a circle. "How's your team doing?"
"Pretty good, actually. We're almost done."
"Lucky you. I'm stuck with the enemy and the ex-bickersons." What Kitty didn't know is that while their conversation was happening, Tammy slowly walked up to their gold bird with hopes of getting it. She looks up and sees so one is looking at her. So, she quickly switches the gold one with a regular one and she quickly leaves.
"Hey guys, I found two more red birds, that makes 10!" Miles says.
"Good. My paws were killing me." Jasper says. The six of them climb out of the pile and the go over to the clue box. Mitch gets the next clue.
"Route Info: go to Pedra da gávea." Mitch reads.
"Let's go!" Kit says. The six of them all get into one can and they drive off. DeeDee and Tammy rejoin their superteam, gold bird in paw.
"First place!" Tammy shouts.
"Wow. I can't believed that just happened." Eddy says.
"No time to waste!" Barbara says. Those six then get in a cab to drive off. They start to catch up to the other superteam.

Kit & Kitty, Miles & Joey, and Jasper & Mitch make it to Pedra da gávea first and they find the next clue. "One-Way: hand glide your way to victory." Miles reads. Team must travel together by hand glider, jump off the mountain to the checkpoint waiting below. Last original pair to get there could be cut from the race.
"Let's do this!" Kitty says.
"I'm not sure if this is safe." Joey says.
"Of course it is." Miles says. "Otherwise why make it an option for so long?" As those three teams grab onto their hang gliders ran and prepare to jump, the other three teams make it to the rug.
"Evil Oasis, you've officially tied for first place." Toner says.
"Hold on, we're called... what?" Eddy asks.
"It does have an evil zing to it..." Tammy says.
"I've gotta admit, it does sound a little interesting." DeeDee says. Diesel just facepalms himself.
"So..." Barbara says. "Does this mean we're gonna keep this alliance until the final 3?"
"Maybe." Tammy says. But probably not, she thinks, I still want those cops out of here.
Meanwhile, at the top of the mountain, the three team prepare to jump off the cliff. "On three." Kit says. "One... Two... Three!!" The six of them jump off. They begin to soar downwards slowly, the wind whipping through their fur.
"This is so cool!" Kitty shouts.
"Dude! I can finally scratch this off my bucket list!!" Jasper says.
"I know!" Mitch says. "You've been talking about wanting to do something like this forever!"
"Are we on the ground yet?!" Joey shouts, afraid to open her eyes.
"Almost!" Miles says. They slowly make it to the ground. Mike's' foot barely scrapes on the ground as he starts running, along with the other teams. They all eventually let go of the gliders so they don't go back in the air.
"There's the checkpoint!" Joey says. The other two team pass them, unaware that the other superteam has already checked in, so they don't worry. The twins make it to the rug and they step on.
"Twins come in 4th." Toner confirms.
"Whew!" Kit says. Then she snaps at something she heard. "Wait, 4th? We didn't even see the other three teams up there! We're in first!"
"Sorry clones." Tammy says as she walks up to them. She holds up the Fast Forward clue and Kit gets worried. "Turns out this is more useful than you think." With that, she walks away.
"Oh man." Kit mutters.
"It's fine." Kitty says. "It's not your fault." Jasper & Mitch then make it.
"Fraternity brothers, you're in 5th." Toner says.
"Sweet!" Jasper says. The two of them step off as Miles & Joey get on.
"Are we in 3rd?" Miles asks. "Awesome!"
"Actually," Toner says, "you're in last. Which means, you're out of the race." Miles' face and heart drops.
"What?"
"How are we in last?" Joey asks.
"I'm sorry guys." Kit says. "It's my fault. If I had just insured on searching for the gold birds more, we couldn't be in this mess."
"Don't blame yourself." Miles says. "I knew that me and Joey weren't ever going to win the race. But coming in 6th is still pretty cool."
"You're not mad?" Kitty asks.
"No." Joey says. "But hey, you two do good ok?"
"We promise." The twins say at the same time. Miles puts an arm around Joey's shoulder and they walk away.
"I personally had a good time." Miles says. "I loved seeing Paris, Australia, Zimbabwe. I really hope we can go there again."
"Me too." Joey says. "I think that this race has definitely made us closer as friends. We may have been beat down, but I think that we tried our best."
"Yep. And when we get home, we're definitely gonna have some stories to tell."
"Yeah. Now, how about we go home and go to Veggie Grill."
"You had me at Veggie."
