Connor's face flushed with embarrassment as he slid behind the row of students sitting patiently at their desks laid out before him. Sucking in his stomach, the thick furred husky shimmied his way to his desk and sat down with a sigh of relief. He had been lucky today, he hadn't bumped into anyone in front of him as he had on most days. This routine of sneaking behind desks, of silent worrying, was one that Connor both dreaded and appreciated, appropriating new tactics of avoidance each time his methodology caused him to foul up. The husky's stealth fighter approach to getting to his chair was not something that he had done often in the past, but rather it was forced upon him on only the second day of attending his American Literature class. Occupying the second seat in his row, the row which the husky had sat in to get a perfect view of the tigress professor and his chalkboard, was a sly, albeit popular, little fox named Ryan whom Connor had the unpleasantry of bumping into on his way to his own seat. Connor had merely squeezed behind his seat to get by when Ryan turned around with a ferocious look on his face, prompting the husky to take his seat quickly and in shame. From his desk, Connor could hear Ryan mutter to his classmates about the "Idiot fat dog who had nearly knocked him out of his chair". After that incident, Connor reluctantly kept his head low and spoke only to his peer to the right, a wolf named Jason.

Jason was one of those guys who could be really popular if only he was more of an asshole. He had the looks, gelled up hair, fit body, a perfect smile, and a forest green vest that complimented his almost metallic, blue-grey and white fur which he wore almost every single day atop an ever changing wardrobe. Today it was a plain black shirt and jeans; a relaxed day stylistically speaking. Even more, he had the girls too. The ladies would practically trample each other trying to get him to take them out or hook up, but he would always turn them down, said he was looking for "the one". He was a charismatic guy, that much was sure, and he was one of Connor's best friends. During class they would discuss the chapters they had to read the night before, or complain about how they had stayed up all night after the read studying for the next test in their Small Business Management class. Jason was not Connor's only close friend, and the husky was almost certain that the same was true for the wolf as well, but he was, out of all of them, the closest.

Some nights, if they were both out of class, the pair would head out into the streets of the surrounding college town and "just live", as Jason would often put it. The movie theater was their favorite place to go. Connor and Jason would often fight over who would buy what when they got there until they had worked out a dynamic arrangement in which Jason would buy tickets one day meanwhile Connor would buy snacks. On their next visit, the two would swap roles, though the husky would still often complain, pleading for Jason to let him buy the food too, as he was bigger and ate more. Jason would always look up at Connor (as the husky was taller just as he was softer than he) and with a smile explain that he didn't mind that he ate more one bit. Each time, as Jason worked on convincing Connor to let him pay for the snacks, the wolf would slip his credit card to the cashier behind his back, settling the dispute anyway. In response, Connor would land a playful punch on the charming wolf's shoulder before the two would head into the theater. In the back of his mind, the husky day dreamed about going to the movies once more as the teacher droned on about today's lesson on Harper Lee. The husky's ears perked as he heard the classroom door opening, the instructor rolling his eyes at the man who rushed down the stairs to Connor's row. Jason smiled wildly at the husky, taking his seat next to him, his tail swaying in glee. Connor didn't know how the wolf did it, he always seemed so happy.

Class had been ended early today, the teacher explaining that she had a meeting to be at in ten minutes, but both Connor and Jason could hear Ryan whisper to his friends that she was, in truth, going on a date. The fox laughed softly as he conveyed the rumor, laughing at the idea of someone as old as their teacher going on a date. "Come on," Jason said, tapping Connor on the shoulder, "let's go hang at my place."

"Please wolfy," Connor rolled his eyes and grinned, "your small ass apartment is hardly a place." Jason's tail wagged once more in unison with Connor's, grabbing him by the wrist and pulling him out the door, the husky's girth forcing its way past Ryan's chair, angering the fox. Connor ignored Ryan's disgusted looks and tried his best to keep pace with an excited Jason. "What's got you all hopped up?" Connor asked playfully.

"Just had to get out of that class. I'm very jumpy today, ya know?" Jason explained with a smile. Connor could indeed relate to the wolf's enthusiastic nature, he had been the same way when he was younger, just like most canines. It wasn't until he started packing on the pounds that the same energy that ran through Jason now, that constant power that made him as hyperactive as a pup, was lost to him. The husky just didn't feel the drive to be active anymore, and in place of that need for activity arose its opposition, lethargy, which only helped him put on more and more weight. Jason, on the other hand, was as rowdy as ever. The wolf's in-shape body kept him in touch with his wild side, and it made going to a party with him all the more fun. Connor laughed to himself at the thought, Jason truly was a riot when he was drunk.

Jason raced up the stairs to his apartment door when they entered his complex. He was a lucky kid, the wolf. While most of the students had to live in dorms, like Connor, Jason's family was one of modest wealth, granting the canine the ability to live off campus if he so chose. However, that didn't mean that he could live in the style he so desperately wanted. Instead, Jason had to make due with a dingy old apartment that he lived in now, consisting of everything one could need, but on a much smaller scale. What his allowance couldn't afford was a living space in a complex with an elevator, something that the larger husky so desperately wished was an option as he trudged up five flights of stairs.

With a tilt of his head, the wolf led Connor into his small home and offered him a seat on the couch, Jason himself heading into the kitchen. "Do you want anything to drink? Eat?"

"Just a soda," Connor asked as Jason began to pour himself a drink as well, "thanks man."

"No problem bud," shouted the wolf from behind the kitchen counter as he finished pouring the drinks. Connor shifted closer to the edge of the beat up couch, knowing that there was still a lot of room left, but still conscious of his size. Jason plopped down next to him, handing over a cup to the husky. "Careful, it's filled pretty high," the wolf warned, taking a sip out of his own cup to lower the level of the soda. Connor did the same, taking his time as he knew that he could easily empty the cup in seconds. Jason flipped the TV on to the news, leaning ever so slightly against the black and white husky next to him without realizing it. This had become a recent habit for Jason over the past few months. The seat next to Connor used to be filled by another up until around two months ago. In Jason's place was a sweet bunny named Erica, with golden blonde fur and long, incredibly soft ears. That was the part that stuck out most to Connor, her beautiful, velvet like ears, though he had no idea what she had seen in him. Sure he was a nice, caring guy, but whenever he looked at himself in the mirror, he never saw the face of someone attractive looking back at him. All he could see was the softness that had grown on him over the years, manifesting on his chest, belly, chins, and everywhere else. Erica never seemed to mind it though, she always said that all it meant was that she would be warm at night. It didn't take long for her to leave him though. As it turned out, she was lesbian, and had gone out with Connor to try to suppress her feelings for women. Ryan never let that one slip by whenever he was mocking the husky, but Jason stood by his side and now took the seat where his love once lingered. Connor had gotten past her now though, and was happy to have a friend like Jason by his side. Nevertheless, he still found it strange that the wolf leaned against him whenever they sat together, but he let it slide.

Jason had been with a girl in the past too, tons of them. From bunnies like Erica, to lionesses like the one he had broken up with a year ago, Trish. He had been dating since middle school, or at least that's what the wolf had said, and Connor never doubted it. Each girl he went out with was beautiful in their own right. Some were shy, compassionate girls whom the wolf had known since the third grade, others were strong, sassy women whom he had just met that very year. His scope ranged from science enthusiasts to head cheerleaders, beating out even the most suitable of potential mates with his intense charisma and handsome looks when he set his eyes on someone he liked. But no matter who they were, none lasted long. His most common excuse for breaking up with girls was the classic "it's not you, it's me", and it worked like a charm every time. Often, the two would leave the relationship as better friends than they had been before, but on more than one occasion the ones he left held grudges, and those nasty vendettas built up around Jason only led to rumors being spread of all sorts of things about him. On some days someone would call him a thief, or a racist, or a faggot, the accusation differing by the day of the week. Once he got into his second year of college, though, the rumors all went away and the wolf continued life exactly as he wanted to be, the twenty year old single that everyone wanted but no one could have. He hadn't had a girlfriend since Trish, and as he frequently told Connor, he didn't plan to. "I want to work on myself this year," he told Connor, who merely shrugged and nodded at the suggestion. "I think I'm gonna start hitting the gym more. I mean, that's what we pay the college for," Jason looked away from the TV and nudged Connor's shoulder, "any interest in joining me?"

"Maybe," said the husky, tossing the thought around in his mind. "I'll be right back." Connor lifted himself from the couch, his canine companion blushing slightly as he regained his composure after his support was taken out from under him. The husky tipped back his drink and headed for the bathroom, tossing out his cup on the way.

Jason sat alone on the couch, thinking and rethinking his plan to hit the gym more often. It would be nice to bulk up, but it would certainly take time out of his day. Peering down at his biceps, the toned wolf flexed, his muscles bulging beneath his fur just enough to give him some definition, but he wanted more. Rubbing his bicep, Jason went back to watching the television, flipping to a made for TV action movie before laying himself down on his back across the couch. It was a tough decision to make. On one hand, he would definitely gain some mass if he went, but that would mean that he couldn't see Connor as frequently, and who knows how the husky would take it? It would of course be a lot more enticing if Connor would decide to join him, but knowing the lax nature of the big fellow, it was truly a long shot. Connor's image raced through his mind as he considered taking action. He was what was really holding him back. The wolf rolled onto his side, throwing his trademark green vest onto the floor. He had always wanted to be bigger, and with his 120 pound frame he knew he wouldn't be able to firmly stand his ground in a fight with anyone larger than him. Not that he intended to fight, but the thought of being able to protect himself and others only served to entice him further into the idea of gaining more mass. But what if I was bigger like Connor? Jason thought, furrowing his brow. The idea seemed odd to him, and he could hardly imagine having as expansive a gut as the husky did. Not that it didn't look good on Connor, he was a big guy, and as a husky, the weight seemed to suit him well. It gave him a protective, sharing look, and when Jason looked at him, he felt as though the large canine was there only for him.

The wolf whined softly and lowered his ears; he couldn't get Connor off of his mind. The husky was always there, either sitting next to him in real life or in his dreams. He was constantly assaulted by the image of his friends, and on more than one occasion lewd thoughts that he had never had for anyone else. In some ways, Jason attributed his thoughts to jealousy. The husky was larger than him, and Jason so desperately wanted to be big, so much so that maybe even the thought of putting on that kind of weight excited him. But deeper than that, Jason knew that he had feelings for his friend.

It started out innocently at first. When Jason had met Connor in their freshman year of college, the wolf was trying his best to make as many friends as he could, and it seemed as though the large husky (although he was about thirty pounds lighter back then) was just caught in the crossfire. The better the wolf got to know Connor, the more new connections started to spark. As it turned out, they both were in for a Business Management degree, both liked to read the same books, both loved going to the movies (and Jason quickly found that Connor was a wuss for horror), and both had the same taste in women...or so it seemed. Over the year that they had known each other, Jason had started to feel odd around the husky. It wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but he always felt different around him. He did not feel the same way he felt around women he liked, no, it was different. It just felt...right. He felt protective of Connor, as if he were his own blood, and every time the husky was feeling down, Jason felt like it was his duty to cheer him up. He felt the urge to be around him every second of the day, and at times he wished that he could invite the husky to stay at his place for the night, just to feel his warmth besides him, to know that he was there. It felt like... "love." The word felt strange rolling off of his tongue, like it wasn't meant to be there, like it was only reserved for the women in his life, but he couldn't hold it back. He was in love with Connor, and his crush had only been growing since the first day they had met.

Connor buttoned his pants back up and sighed, considering Jason's offer. It was tempting, very tempting. Connor's eyes roamed the bathroom floor until they set upon a scale resting underneath the sink. The husky bent down and pulled it out feeling obligated, now that fitness was being discussed, to take heed of his weight. Slowly, he stepped on it, his white tipped tail swaying slowly from side to side in anticipation. The number rose as he put his full weight on the scale, quickly zooming past 200, then 250, and finally coming to rest at 300 pounds. Connor put a hand on his soft middle and sighed deeply. Had he been working out for the entirety of his life, that number may have been a good thing. But the only sport he had ever had a chance at was competitive eating, and he knew well and good to stay away from that slippery slope. The number ate at his insides as he hoped desperately that maybe, just this once, the number would've gone lower instead of higher. The fat husky slowly stepped off of the scale and looked at himself in the mirror, taking his shirt off in the process. His soft, white belly was large and round, curved perfectly for someone to cuddle yet it had no one to do as such with it. His chest sagged noticeably, and he wished for the days when his chest looked firm and powerful instead of soft and squeezable.

Maybe, just maybe, if he worked out he might be able to find a girl again. He was lucky to have had Erica, but he knew well that his weight was off putting for a lot people. He wished desperately that he looked more like Jason, or those sled pulling dogs he had seen every now and again on television or in magazines. They were the ones who got the hot girls. Connor threw his shirt back on and exited the bathroom. "Okay," he said, rousing Jason from his daydreaming, "I'll go to the gym with you."

"That's awesome Connor," Jason exclaimed, his tail wagging rapidly and a wide grin spreading across his face, "we'll get super buff!" The pair laughed softly and Connor went to join Jason on the couch, the wolf eagerly making room for the heavy husky. Once more, Jason leaned against Connor contentedly. The husky could hear the wolf murring softly to himself, his eyes closed and his smile lingering. Connor couldn't help but smile too.

"Hey wolfy," Connor whispered to Jason, the wolf's eyelids fluttering as he woke with a yawn. Jason blushed deeply as he noticed that he had fallen asleep against Connor, the husky blushing a bit himself at the notion. "Do you mind if I sleep over on the couch tonight? I haven't got any classes tomorrow."

"Of course big guy," Jason said, stretching and getting up off of the couch, "I'm gonna hit the hay if you don't mind. There's a spare blanket in the closet, you know where everything else is, make yourself comfortable." Jason slowly stripped as he walked towards his bedroom, throwing his shirt off, revealing his lean, muscular body before getting to work on his pants, falling slightly and revealing his underwear, letting his tail wag freely as he closed the door behind him. Connor made himself comfortable on the couch, grabbing spare blankets and pillows from the hall closet. He quickly found himself drifting to sleep, excited about his upcoming workout routine with Jason.

Jason sighed as he hopped into bed wearing only his underwear. He scratched his creamy white, flat stomach and well defined chest lightly, thinking of Connor. He wished so desperately that the larger husky was sleeping next to him, holding him tightly, the wolf's head buried in his chest. Jason cuddled his pillow, pressing it against his body. He dreamed of getting bigger, like Connor, and of being with the husky. Of being more than just friends.
