Looking down the stairs to the basement, Matt saw his bunny's head hovering a few inches above the ground, covered in a thick leather mask. He felt a smile spread on his face as he thought about for far the bunny had come in not even two weeks under his roof. The terrified bunny, that was barely able to make it through the day without a small panic attack had began to settle into his new life. He was also, if somewhat slowly, getting over his fear of the basement.

Matt very much doubted he could have tied the bunny up down there for any amount of time in the beginning, but now the bunny had been hanging upside down from a beam for almost half an hour and other than a bit of laboured breathing and the occasional grunt there were no sounds coming from him.

Walking down the stairs the otter felt proud. He knew that changing one's behaviour wasn't something you could just do, but the bunny had shown, that he was willing to do it, no matter how hard it had been for him, he had fought and was now, at least in part, free from the rules his former owner had put upon him.

Reaching the helpless bunny Matt let his hands wander over his chest, his belly and thighs. His bunny groaned at the caring touches of his master, his head moving to look at him even though the hood covered his whole face.

"Any pain?"

The bunny shook his head.

"Want me to let you down?"

He nodded.

"OK, you did great by the way."

The otter went behind Nate, to unlock the cuffs, who had kept the bunny's hands immobile behind his back, then grabbed the rope and carefully undid the knot so his slave didn't fall to the floor.

"Keep your head up."

The bunny complied and was slowly let down towards the floor, his shoulder making contact first and his body followed until he was laying on the cool basement floor. Matt knelt down beside him and loosened the straps keeping the hood in place. Pulling it off he made sure the first thing his bunny saw was a warm smile.

"Doing ok there?"

"A bit dizzy Sir."

"That'll be gone in a minute, think you can get up?"

"Yes Sir."

Matt offered his hand, which the bunny gladly took and used to pull himself first into a sitting position and then to his feet. Nate closed his eyes and spread his arms slightly, his feet moving around trying to find his balance.

"You sure you're ok?"

"Yes Sir, I just ..."

Seeing his bunny tipping in one direction without any attempt to catch himself Matt quickly grabbed Nate by his shoulder and pulled him towards himself, letting his chest break the bunny's fall as both fell to the floor. Nate's head pressing against his head felt uncomfortably warm, and a quick check with his paw confirmed his suspicion.

"Sorry Sir, I -"

"Shh, let's get you in a bed, you need to rest."

"No, I-I'm fine, I just need to ... to get used to ... this."

"Nonsense."

Matt slowly got up, making sure to help Nate do the same. He pulled the bunny's arm over his and slowly walked Nate upstairs to the guest room. Sitting the bunny down on his bed, he covered him with a blanket and closed the blinds.

"Just go ahead and sleep, I'll be right back."

Matt closed the door and went downstairs to the kitchen. He pulled out a tray and loaded it with some juice, a washcloth and a bowl of cold water. In his rush to get back upstairs he turned around to quickly, sending the bowl flying to the kitchen floor with a bang. While cursing he threw a towel on the spilled water, refilled the bowl and turned around, only to see the bunny standing in in the door, steadying himself against the frame.

"Please Sir, let ... let me do that, it's my ... job."

"How did you even get down here?"

The bunny took a tentative step forwards.

"Stop right there!" Matt put down the tray and quickly walked over to Nate, supporting him again with his shoulder and walking him upstairs. This time he lead Nate to the master bedroom and once the bunny was on his bed Matt crossed his arms in front of his chest.

"If I see you walking around again I will tie you to that bed. You are allowed to use my bathroom, but that is the only time I want to see you on your feet. Is that understood?"

Nate's ears pulled in close to his head as he heard the otter's voice.

"Y-Yes Sir, sorry Sir."

"That's a good bun-bun." Matt scratched the bunny behind his ears.

"Bun ... bun?"

"Sorry, it sounded better in my head."

"No! I ... I kinda like it Sir."

"I'll keep that in mind, now try to sleep."

Nate nodded and Matt left to get the tray. Placing its contents on the bedside table he soaked the washcloth and placed it on Nate's head before leaving the sleeping bunny to get some rest.

Matt made sure to check in on Nate all throughout the day, changing the washcloth, refilling the juice and water he left for the bunny to drink and to check his temperature. Luckily the fever wasn't high and stayed pretty constant throughout the day. Sitting back down on the sofa Matt wrote down the latest temperature and let himself fall back.

So far nothing was pointing to anything serious, but he was no doctor, so what does he know. He really should take Nate to see a proper doctor, but his bunny had no insurance, or ID for that matter. What if someone became suspicious, what if the police got involved, he could - no would be arrested. But if he didn't risk it and it was something more serious than a cold ...

Matt sighed.

It was slowly getting dark when Matt next made his way upstairs. He saw his bunny standing behind the bed, empty glass in hand.

"Back to bed, I'll take care of that."

"I can do it Sir, I'm not as dizzy anymore."

Matt placed his hand on the bunny's chest and gave the tiniest of pushes. Nate got the silent command and sat back down again, handing the empty glass to the otter, who vanished into the bathroom to fill it.

After emptying half of it Nate put the glass away and laid back down.

"Sir, I'm sorry."

"Take care of yourself first," the otter quoted, "no use having a sick slave mess up everything he does." Matt said with a smirk.

"I ... I wouldn't sir!"

"I know. I was joking."

Matt sat down next to his bunny, pulling him close and planting a small kiss on his nose.

"Please don't, you'll get sick too Sir."

"Just relax," Matt began slowly rubbing the bunny's belly, "and focus on getting better. If the fever is still there tomorrow I'll take you to see a doctor."

"A doctor? But how would- What about- Why?"

"Hm?"

"Why are you so nice to me, you're not supposed to be nice," Nate began sobbing into the otter's chest, "you've bought me, you're supposed to be ...to be ..."

"Shhh. Why should I be cruel?"

"I don't know!"

"See, no reason not to be nice. Now try to sleep some more, I'll come back later again."

"Could you maybe stay a bit longer Sir?"

"Of course bun-bun."

A tiny ray of sunlight that somehow made it through the blinds and managed to hit his eyes was what woke Matt up. He must have fallen asleep.Turning his head slightly he found his bunny just like the evening before, Nate's head resting in his chest. What was new though was that the bunny had started to hug him, tightly.

Matt used the paw that was not being held hostage by the bunny's unrelenting hug to check Nate's temperature and sighed relieved when his forehead only felt slightly warm.

"Sir?" the bunny's eyes opened a tiny bit.

"The fever seems to be gone, how do you feel?"

"Not too bad Sir."

"Specifics please."

"Just a bit tired and a headache Sir"

"I'll get you an Aspirin and then you'll sleep some more."

"Thank you, Sir."

Matt tried to get up but the bunny still held him tightly. He turned towards the bunny, but before he could say a word Nate had stretched himself and kissed the otter's cheek. Matt was caught completely off guard by that gesture and simply looked at his bunny for a few seconds, his mouth still open.

"S-Sorry Sir, it just felt ..."

"It's fine bun-bun." Matt smiled.

Letting go of the otter's arm Nate quickly pulled the blanket over his head, but not quickly enough for the otter not to notice the deep red blush growing on the bunny's white cheeks. With a smile Matt swung his legs out of bed and stood up, only to sit down again.

"How bad do you need that Aspirin bun-bun?"

"Sir? Are you sick?" Natt threw the blanket off himself.

"Afraid so."

"Lay down Sir, I'll take care of everything."

"Actually," Matt let himself fall back and pulled the bunny close, "we have everything we need still on the bedside table."

It was some time in the afternoon when Nate woke up. His head was still resting on his master's chest, while the otter's arm was still resting on his back. The bunny could hear his master's heartbeat, feel his warmth, all while his scent tickled his nose and Nate felt like, for the first time since he had entered this house, he could, maybe, enjoy being here.

What made him snap out of the blissful feeling of comfort was a car stopping immediately in front of the house, followed shortly by the doorbell ringing. His master stirred for a second but didn't wake up. Nate slowly removed the otter's arm rolled over to the side of the bed and got up. He checked one more time to see whether or not his master had woken up before making his way down the hallway, stopping in the bathroom for just a second to grab a towel and then hurried to the front door while tying the towel around him.

His hand reached for the doorknob but froze. Was it OK for other people to see him here? What is his master didn't want him to be seen? What if it was someone who knew him? He swallowed and opened the door, but there was nobody there. All Nate saw was a delivery truck vanishing behind the next corner and a small brown package sitting on the door mat. Grabbing it he sighed relieved and quickly closed the door.

Back in the bedroom he placed the package on the dresser and then went to refill his master's glass with some more water.

"Didn't I tell you to stay in bed?" came the otters groggy voice.

"I'm sorry Sir. Someone was at the door, and I didn't want to wake you. D-do you want me to get the rope?"

"Rope?"

"To tie me to the bed Sir."

"No, I want you to tell me why I shouldn't."

"Sir?"

"Not convinced yet, keep going."

"Oh! I, uhm, I don't need to get the rope, because .... because you told me to stay in bed to get better... and I am, Sir"

"Good bunny, bondage averted. Oh and open that package, it's for you."

Grabbing the package from the dresser Nate sat back down next to his master on the bed. The otter moved to rest his head in the bunny's lap as Nate used his fingers to rip a hope into the package and let it contents fall onto the bed. A surprised gasp left Nate's throat once he realized what his master had ordered.

The otter chuckled as he reached for the orange rubber object, holding it up to properly look it over.

"I just couldn't resist when I saw that plug. After all what bunny doesn't like carrots"

The otter began to laugh at his own terrible joke, but the sound of it just woke something inside Nate and he quickly joined in. He reached for the plug and was surprised by its weight and size. It was bigger than his master, and getting it in would probably take some getting used to.

"Shall I go get the lube Sir?"

"No, not yet. I want to work that into you, but I want to get better first. Getting you horny and not being able to do anything about it is kind of a waste."

"Yes Sir."

"I think I'll sleep a bit more, feel free to do whatever you want."

Nate covered both of them as best he could with the blanket and began to softly stroke his master's head.
