Chapter 11 - Bite Down

We began our decent at an open field at the outskirts of Katina. To be on the safe side, we didn't want to make our presence really known. Once we safely landed, we began our slow hike to the city.

As we made our way, I allowed Reno to lead since he knew the land better than I did. I could tell by the look on his face that he was clearly troubled by something. He just looked to be really uncomfortable.

"Hey, Reno, is there something wrong?" I asked him.

He took in a huge whiff of the surrounding air. "The stench... There's something wrong in Katina City. I can just feel it..."

I wanted to think that he was just being paranoid after not being home for quite some time, but I could help but share that feeling. The scent lingering in the air seemed all too familiar to me. Even though we were at the outskirts of Katina City, it was awfully quiet. Perhaps even reaching that creepy silence that you would only see in the movies.

As we began to approach the city, Reno's hunch seemed to be correct as there was nobody around town. As if the whole city was deserted.

"What the hell is going on here...?" Reno asked. "This isn't the Katina I remember when I left."

We stood there trying to figure out what was going on. Suddenly, I felt an arm wrap around my neck and saw the tip of a shiny blade at the corner of my eye.

"Obviously not, Reno..."

"What the-?!" I exclaimed as I couldn't break free from my attacker's hold. Reno turned around to see who was holding me hostage.

"Terry, you fucker... What the hell are you doing?! Are you really going to betray me here as well?"

With the hand that Terry was choking me with, he started to loosen his grip and signed something over to Reno.

"[Creating a diversion... They have eyes all over the city... Follow me back to your apartment...]" Terry signed. Not knowing what the hell was going on, I continued to struggle.

"Reiji, I don't want to have to make this difficult. It's either you quit struggling or do what I say." Terry said to me. I looked over to Reno hoping he would do something.

"Rei, you heard the otter! Quit fucking struggling!" Reno said to me

"What?! Reno, you fucker!" I yelled back.

"SHUT UP!" Terry started to drag me some distance. Without Reno making a move, all I could do was comply to this fucker's demands. We were lead to an apartment complex near the Katina Military Academy.

"You know exactly what I need in here, Reno." Terry exclaimed. Reno opened the door to one of the apartments. Once we were inside, Terry loosened his grip on me and I quickly drew one of my blasters and pointed it at his head.

"Wrong move, Terry. Now who's being held hostage?" I said in a rather angry tone. Reno pushed my arm down and held it there.

"Relax, Rei. He wasn't intending to hurt you."

"Not intending to hurt me?!" I yelled. "Are you fucking kidding me!? I had a knife to my neck!"

"Reiji, the city has eyes. If I didn't get to you first, the actual Yakuza here probably would've gotten to you. Who knows what the hell they would've done."

"Wait... The Yakuza?" Reno questioned. "Terry, I thought we dealt with them."

"That's what I thought also... Do you mind if we sit down for this?" We went into the kitchen area and sat around Reno's rather tiny dining room table. "I thought I would've been able to deal with the Yakuza problem because had dwindled their forces here in Katina pretty heavily, but apparently they called in your father from Corneria and had him take over Katina. If there's any explanation as to why there's not much Yakuza action in Corneria is because he figured that Corneria had enough problems on their hands with that Claxan Invasion. With everyone so busy there, it would've been too easy for him to take over Corneria."

"Pfft..." I scoffed. "Sounds just like him. He never liked taking down anything without a fight."

"I knew with your father being in charge of the attack, I wouldn't be able to deal with this alone. When I tried to go to Corneria to get you back, Reno, I was faced with an offer I couldn't refuse. They kidnapped my brother when he was having his classes. They raided the Military Academy and took everyone hostage. My brother was one of the ones taken hostage. It was either I die at his hands there or follow his orders to ensure his safety. Please don't think ill of me, Reiji, while I deeply regret putting your brother in the way of danger, it was the only way I could keep my brother alive as well. A sacrifice had to be made in order for both of our siblings to live."

It was hard to buy everything that Terry had just explained to me, but hell, if I was caught in his situation, I probably would've made the same decisions that he made.

"So how do we know that we can trust you, Terry? How do we know that this just isn't part of my father's elaborate plan to make us his sex slaves?" I asked. I was staring at him as if I were Death himself.

"Wha... Sex slaves?" Terry questioned.

"As hard as it is to believe, Terry, his father rolled that way. Why do you think Reiji has problems with him?"

I socked Reno in the face in a fit of anger. "TOO MUCH DETAIL, RENO. HE DIDN'T NEED TO KNOW THAT."

"But did you need to sock me in the face?!" he yelled back.

"YES!"

"I can assure you that we can get inside the Military Academy. Most of the students and faculty that were held hostage there the other month are still being held hostage. You have to follow my lead though. I know you want to save your brother as much as I want to save mine. Now that I have some help, maybe that could finally happen." Terry said.

"The moment you turn on us, I won't hesitate to kill you." I said to him.

"Deal, but don't worry, I was always on your side, Reiji. Our first encounter was just... A bit unfortunate." He stuck out his hand. I bit my tongue hoping that he wasn't bullshitting us here. I reluctantly shook his hand, but I could feel in the tenseness of his hand that he wasn't joking. He was confident that this was the day that he could free the people being held hostage at the academy and once and for all force the Yakuza out of Katina.

This also meant I could possibly see him again... Possibly end this nightmare once and for all. At this rate, I highly doubt it, because between my father and inevitable evil, there's ALWAYS something more evil that him if he's not already the most evil person in the group.

"Well then, Terry, what's the plan? How do you plan to save our siblings?"

"Well..." He began. We went over the elaborate plan on how to get inside as well as what to do when we got inside.

It sounded crazy enough to work.

~~~~~
[The next morning...]
"So are you absolutely sure about this?" I said trying to get the wedgee out of my ass crack. The Yakuza sure wear tight ass clothing... However, this was ridiculous... How in the world did the Cornerian and Katana Yakuza wear these ridiculous jumpsuits and be comfortable?!
"There's a slight chance that it can fail, but I'm pretty sure this will work. There are so many Yakuza members at this stronghold that they wouldn't notice the addition of another two members."
"But, god dammit! This jumpsuit is crushing my dick!" I exclaimed.
"What the hell are you talking about, Rei? It hides inside of you when you're not hard!" Reno said back.
"So does yours!" I snapped back.
"Well, that's why I like being a dragon. These scales stop a lot before it gets too bad."
"Fuck you, Reno."
"Fuck you too, then!"
"Would you two shut the hell up?! We have a job to do!" Terry said to us shutting us both up.
"Oh right, sorry." I said to him.
We began to make our way in to the stronghold. Everything went off without a hitch...
~~~~~

[Meanwhile...]

"So you've finally decided to come here, haven't you?" the voice said looking at the security cameras. "It's been three years... I'll make sure you learn this time not to mess with me."

~~~~~
[Back at the mission...]
We began approaching the top level of the Katina Military Academy. It seemed like an obvious place for any operation to take place due to all the surveillance being on the upper floors as opposed to Corneria's being in a completely separate building.
"Something's wrong here." I said. This mission was going too smoothly. Everyone knew that we didn't belong here, but decided not to do a damn thing about it.
"What?" Terry asked. "Everything is going fine."
"That's the problem. This mission is going too smoothly. He knows we're here already."
"That's impossible, Rei. If they knew you were here, they would've-" I interrupted Terry before he could finish.
"I know they would've done something about it. More importantly, my father knows were here already. He doesn't think it will be much fun if they let all his henchmen do all the work for him. He wants to deal with me himself... And I could only imagine what the hell that's gonna be."
"What's the worst he could possibly do? Put all three of us in bondage while he gets his henchmen to rape us in front of you while physically beating us to a bloody pulp and he does something ten times worse to you?"
"DON'T GIVE HIM ANY FUCKING IDEAS!" I yelled back. "He's the type of person who would actually do that kind of shit!"
"You know me all too well, Reiji." A voice said. We all stopped in our tracks to find a wolf probably at about a 6'4" frame. In size, as a wolf, he almost matched up to Reno. Everything about him rushed back to me in a flooding nightmare. The scar on his right jaw, the messy dark grey coat of fur, and just a sense that the devil lurked in his eyes. The evil stare could just render any courageous person into a coward.
-"You..." I said. Inside I was shaking. My heart was racing and my breathing started to get heavy.
"How long has it been since you've seen your poor father? Three years now?"
I stared him down. The person I've despised my whole life now in front of me. I wanted to strike him, but for some reason, my body just froze in fear. I feared that I wasn't strong enough to even inflict damage on him. It's like I was 16 again...
"Fuck... Why can't I move...?!" I thought to myself. I... I just froze there in fear. Why the fuck am I scared?!
I could only see Terry look at both of us in awe and confusion. "I never thought about it until now, but you two DO look related."
"No shit, Sherlock." I said. "He's my father for a reason."
"It was stupid of you to think that you could possibly take me down. But here's the deal, Reiji, my son, I'll pull back all the Yakuza forces here in Corneria if you, and only you surrender yourself to me." he said in a rather cold manner. He might reek of evil, but if there's something I know about my father, he's a man of his word.
"No fucking way, how do we know you're not bullshitting us?!" Reno yelled. He wasn't going to take me getting hurt. Not after the promise he made to me. I didn't even have time to blink and suddenly my father was behind Reno and had both of his arms locked. "What the-?!"
"I didn't ask you anything. Don't interrupt us, Renaldo." He slowly started to bend Reno's right arm in an unnatural direction. "You were always butting into business with my son before you moved here to Katina... You haven't learned a damn thing, have you?"
My heart suddenly dropped when I heard the loudest crack ever from Reno's arm. He really just broke his arm in front of me.
"Get your fucking hands off of him, Kurogane!" Terry yelled.
"Terry! God dammit, don't!" I tried to yell, but nothing came out. Not only did I feel paralyzed, I couldn't speak either. Before I knew it, he had elbowed Terry down to the ground and was standing above him with his foot on his chest.
"What the hell do you think you're doing, Terry? I thought that you wanted to save your brother. What are you doing trying to get yourself killed now?" He stomped down on his chest and I heard more bones crack. He just broke his ribs as well. "Now if Reiji would just give me his answer, I'll make sure that the medical staff here will heal all the wounds I inflicted upon you two dumbshits and ensure the release of the hostages here.
Reno was trying to push himself. He was struggling to push himself up with his weaker arm. "He'll never do anything that stupid!"
Stomping down on Terry again in anger, he yelled back to Reno, "Was I fucking talking to you!?" He stormed back over to Reno and stomped him back down to the ground as well.
"Stop it already! I'll surrender!" I yelled to him. "Just don't hurt them anymore!"
"Rei, don't!" Reno yelled to me.
"Reno, shut up. He's a man of his word. Now will you send for medical help already?"
"Of course, Reiji." he said to me. He clapped twice and the medical staff appeared to tend to the wounds he had just inflicted, by the looks of it, it was the Katina Military Medical Team, not the Yakuza's.
"Mr. Kusagari, Mr. Mako, we'll take care of your wounds right away..." said one of the medical staff members.
Very lightly I could hear Reno say to me, "Reiji... Please be safe..." He was then lead away by the medical staff.
I stood there face to face with my father. "So what are you going to do to me, Kurogane?"
"Kurogane? No more 'father', Reiji? I'm actually hurt!" he replied back to me in a joking tone.
"Cut the bullshit! I kept up my end of the bargain by surrendering to you, now let everyone go!"
"I'm already miles ahead of you. The Yakuza occupancy is minimal in here. All this was just a trap to get you here. If the people of Katina wanted to stay safe, all they had to do was let me occupy the Military Academy here until you showed up; otherwise, they were free to do what they wanted. Naturally, in order for this plan to come into action, sacrifices had to be made. Terry Mako's younger brother? There's something special about it. He can't hear the screams or the cries of battle, but there's something special about him that I intend to find out. His abilities could help me become head of this whole Lylat Yakuza and then finally get the power and respect I deserve in this whole fucking system!"
"Power and respect? That's all you want? For an evil villain, that's seems like an awfully weak goal." I replied.
"I was one of the top solo fighters in the Cornerian Military, Reiji. Those teammates of mine, they were just slowing me down! That cargo mission that sealed my fate as a pilot? That was all a plan to secure my spot as one of the higher-ups in the Yakuza."
I was shocked. He intentionally killed his teammates in that mission? "How could you be so heartless?! Your teammates... They looked up to you as a pilot!"
"Then perhaps they should've been looking forward instead of at me. Maybe then, they wouldn't have crashed their arwing to seal their fate. What's done is done."
My father started to advance down the hallway. "Come with me, Reiji... We still have lots to catch up on."
"..." I grumbled as I followed him down the hallway. As much as I wanted to kill him right now, I didn't have much of a choice. It was either follow what he said, or I get killed. He eventually led me to the camera room where he had been monitoring us ever since we got to the academy grounds.
"Assure me this... Are Reno and Terry alright?" I asked. He switched to a camera that was in the medical bay. The two were resting atop the beds they used for their patients. Reno's arm was now in a cast and Terry seems to be lying down rather comfortably after the rib incident.
"Reiji, you know I've always been a man of my word and whatever I say goes. It's just this Yakuza that has failed to realize my potential."
"Hmm...?" I questioned. At this point, I realized that my father isn't your typical villain either. I suppose fighting for the good side for sometime, he kept the idea of values in mind... Despite how wrong it sounds. I just knew this wasn't going to be easy...
"You know who the head of the Yakuza is, right?"
"I can't say that I know."
"The head of the Lylat Yakuza is... Well, you don't really need to know that... You'll find out who that is in due time anyway. He runs this organization like shit and I'm not the only one who thinks this as well. Other heads of the Yakuza are in agreement with me."
"So wait, what exactly are you doing anyway?"
"The Yakuza, although we occupy several territories here in the Lylat System, at this point, it's all a ploy to rebel against the current leader and hopefully one of us will actually become leader of the Yakuza."
"So you mean to say that the Lylat Military is after you guys while the Yakuza is after itself?" What the FUCK is going on? Honestly, I was confused as hell.
So the Lylat Military is trying to cease operations for the Lylat Yakuza, who in turn is trying to go through a rebellion themselves... So what the hell am I doing? I'm just trying to save my brother, but am I ultimately supposed to stop the whole Yakuza by myself? Seriously, I live up one fucked up situation after another. Perhaps I need to sort my priorities...
"I suppose you could say that, but Reiji, who are you to stop me? You failed to stop me earlier."
"I... I..."
"You froze, just like you usually do. You never change, huh?"
"It's not like that at all... You think I haven't gotten stronger after these years?"
"Personally, Reiji, no I don't. You're still that weakling pup that fell victim to an unfortunate incident three years ago. Prove to me that you've gotten stronger or prepared to be dominated again."
"It's always about sex with you, isn't it? I seriously wonder how Mom dealt with you before she died."
"Sexual pleasure is one of the ultimate highs, Reiji. You of all people should know this considering your boyfriend over there."
"So you knew?"
"What kind of father do you think I am if I can't predict my son?"
"Well, a fucked up one if you like to have incestuous sex with your two sons."
"I suppose your right, but don't deny that you didn't like it either."
Well, fuck, he got me there. I suppose I got the sex addiction from him, huh? My father began to lead me out of the room.
"Come with me, Reiji, this isn't the place to fight."
"You being my father and all, can you at least tell me this?"
"Hmm...?"
"Where the hell is Spike?"
"C'mon, Rei, did you REALLY expect this to be easy? Well, I'm sorry, but your Spike is on another planet. However, maybe you can be an asset to me as opposed for me being dead set on killing you instead."
"Well, fuck. What do you have planned?" I could only imagine...
"It's your job to hunt down all of the Yakuza, right?"
"Yeah..."
"And it's my ambition to become the best, right?"
"I think I see where you're going with this."
"If you help me, I'll help you, Rei. These other Yakuza leaders are only slowing me down from becoming the best. When we both become the best, I'll fight you to the death. One of us has to accomplish our mission."
"So you're really willing to die at the hands of your 20-year-old son?"
"If it means that he overpowers his old man, then that means I've accomplished my own mission."
So even after all this time, after all this evil that he's giving out, I suppose he's the same person I've always known. Although a bit evil after the career change and still the asshole he's always been, he's STILL that father who wants to raise his children to become the best that they could be. It's a bit extreme to be honest, but I suppose when this mission is finally finished, I'll understand all of this in the end.
But what would this ultimately mean? I'm helping out the Yakuza become stronger, simply because of my father, but it would ultimately mean that the mission that I sought out would hopefully be accomplished after saving both Terry's brother and my own.
Seriously, the story of my life here... What the hell was I going to do?
