After The Race

- * * Countless days passed by in the Alaskan town of Nome. Families were happy that their children were saved by the hero named Balto. It was gently snowing on the outskirts of Nome, the snow was gathering among the deck of an abandoned wooden ship. The ship was old and worn. After the race was over he started having heavy thoughts about him and his family. When Balto awoke he found that all the pups were gone and Jenna was laying down waiting for Balto to awaken. "Hey there beautiful!" He called out. Jenna blushed a bit and smiled over at Balto. "Hey you were out for a long time, have any dreams?" She asked. Balto stood and looked at his mate looking over her marvelous figure "Nope, but where did all the pups go?" He questioned. Jenna smiled a bit and her ears perked up to listen to him. "Oh they're outside playing on the beach with Borris."She smiled. Balto seemed relieved along with unsatisfied at this. Jenna caught on to his problem as he let out a long drawn sigh. "Balto please tell me what's been wrong with you lately." She said with a stern voice. She seemed a bit annoyed since Balto wouldn't tell her his true feelings. He let out another long sigh, as he looked upon his loving mate. "Its just that life has been so repetitive and boring after the adventure you and me had." He sighed sadly. Jenna's eyes widened a bit, and her tail stopped wagging. "Balto what do you mean you have a family now, you have sons and daughters to watch over, you have me." She said in her sweet loving tone. After Borris had explained all that had happened, Balto was ablaze with anger. At once he took off out of the ship. "I can't believe Steele took the pups." Jenna sobbed. The red furred husky collapsed on the wooden floor and began balling. Borris had tried to comfort her but nothing seemed to work. "I'm a terrible mother for not being able to protect my pups Borris." Jenna had a hopeful look in her eye, as she began to smile again. "I can't believe the bastard would go as far as to take my pups." Balto thought, with hatred, and anger boiling in his heart. He spent what seemed like forever trying to track their scents in the town of Nome. Nothing had come up, although a few citizens stopped to say hi or to pat his head. Balto became annoyed at Steele. Then it all came back to him. At once he took off through a dark alley way and kept pushing snow behind him until he came across the large wooden building. He growled a bit and even snarled, but he managed to hold back his anger. "Steele if you hurt any of my pups I'll kill you." He said aloud. He scratched at the door. Which to his surprise hadn't been locked. He pushed the door open and stepped inside to see what had become of his pups. Steele had knocked out all of his pups except Aleu . Aleu one of Balto's daughters was cowering in fear in front of Steele. Balto couldn't take it anymore. "Steele you prick let them go!" "Balto I'm so glad you could join us, in fact I was hoping you would've gotten here a bit sooner."Steele said in a sing song voice. Balto was dumbfounded and looked around to make sure Him, Steele, and the pups were the only ones there. "Steele let my pups go now! Balto growled." Steele just smiled and charged unexpectedly at Balto. Soon everything went black for the half-breed. When he awoke he found that he could not move at all. He looked at his paws to find that he had been chained down to the floor. He could hear moans, cries, and panting coming from the room. Meanwhile Balto had broken free of his binds. "Enough Steele!"Balto howled. Balto charged at Steele with his jaws held wide open as he bit hard on his leg. Steele howled out in pain and surprise. Balto took pity on Steele and released him. "Leave now!" Balto growled. Instead Steele had charged for Aleu again. Balto had grabbed his back leg with his fangs though. Steele cried out in fury of rage and hate. Steele had attempted to charge at the wolf dog and his family, however the boiler at this time burst. It had created a line of fire that cut Steele off from Balto. The wolf dog knew he had to leave before it got worse. "Steele farewell." Balto said as he marched out of the soon to be doomed room. Steele wasn't through yet. He kicked open the vent and managed to work his through the vent and out of the doctor's office. Thankfully nobody was within the building at the time the boiler had given in. Balto stood in a black alley way. Steele's figure off to the east by the mountains in the distance. Balto had sighed. "Papa will Steele ever come back to get revenge?" Aleu had asked.. Balto nuzzled her lovingly as they walked back to the ship. "I hope not, I sure hope not." He sighed.
