#7 of Fur one and fur all!

Welp, looks like I'm out of backlog. Now stories will be posted on a (mostly) regular schedule, unless I get impatient again. But the indenting, though. >:P

At the briefing room, I put my paw on the scanner, and it tells me I need an access code, and as I walk away to find that scientist again to ask for one, I hear a beep, and then, "Access code accepted." The door opens, and a burly guard is there to escort me. I get firmly grasped by the arm, and rip my arm out of the man's grip. "I'll just follow, okay?" The guard sneers at me, but he walks forward, indicating me to follow. This hallway is different from the other one. It's all dark gray, with tinted windows of the same color. I get led to the fourth door on the left. The guard then presses his hand against the scanner, and the door opens. We both walk in, and I'm instructed to sit down. A projection appears on the white wall in front of me. Well, this is probably going to be a long, boring instruction film. I sit down and enjoy the ride.

It starts off with the notion that this is a government-made film. It's titled simply, "Animal People: A.K.A: Top Secret Experiment A0634B." It tells us that we are one of many animal people developed to be part of America's new armed forces. There were forty-two males who volunteered and were eligible to have their genetics altered in order to create animal people offspring. Some of them were revolutionary scientists, such as my dad. Some of them did it to receive the hefty two million dollar bonus. But there were only thirty-seven females who volunteered to carry the offspring, so they had to get rid of five males to prevent genetic mixups.

All males were gathered at a secret government hospital to have their genetics altered. Many different animals were coded, from white tigers to komodo dragons. Only fourteen were able to go on with the reproduction. There were different kinds of casualties. One man died from his body trying to turn into a parrot, but everyone else's bodies stayed human. Others messed up genetic material rendered them infertile, and they were given a measly one hundred thousand for compensation. Some had other unexplainable complications. One got away. The fourteen animals left possible were: white tiger, gray hedgehog, brown wolf, pink and light blue-striped tabby cat, grizzly bear, raccoon, red fox, panda, gray rat, cheetah, eagle, chameleon, white rabbit, and a lanx, which is a government-made animal best described as a fluffy, tan dog mixed with a snow leopard, with a monkey's tail. (As if making humans animals wasn't screwed up enough.)

The animal genes were made dormant until physical maturity, about fourteen, by modifying dormant gene material from the red blood cells. This was to prevent complications during birth, breastfeeding, and raising of the young child. But the mental development was harder to suppress. The children reasoned with the animalistic parts of themselves differently. For example, a few reasoned that they were just furries, like me. Others assumed it was just their imagination kicking into overdrive.
