#5 of Fur one and fur all!

Yes, apparently this thing is split into chapters. Alexa seems to be handling this quite well.

(I'm not really sure what to put for tags, so suggest some in the comments if you have any ideas.)

It's not pretty, but I manage to make some rainboots into adequate vessels for my feet. I pull on some jeans, but leave my tail hanging out. Everyone will assume I'm just another dude heading to the con, and they won't suspect the truth. Plus, it's uncomfortable to try and stuff my tail into these pants. For a precaution, I put on a large sweater anyways, to keep most of my wolf body concealed. I finish putting all of my valuables into the suitcase, and then I hear my father say, "I'm sorry, Alex." I turn around, only to be knocked out by a blow to the head. Blackness, then I lose all sense.

Chapter 2: Kernel Labs

I wake up slowly and in a haze. "Ugh, where am I?" Memories come rushing back to me, from transforming to getting knocked out by my father. I look around, and I see that I'm in a cage. I look out of the glass door in front of my cage, and I see other cages around me. I try standing up, but I only manage to make it to a halfway crouch. It seems that I was stripped of my clothes and belongings when being brought in here. I look around for any food my captors might have left me, but there's only a large bottle of water, like the kind you'd buy at a grocery store. I try opening the bottle of water. It's difficult with these new paw pads I have instead of hands, but I finally manage to open it, even though a sizeable amount splashes out of the bottle. I only have a little, not sure when I'll get water again. I get ready for someone to walk in now that I'm awake, but it seems that only happens in movies. I look at myself, and it seems that I've finished transforming from human boy to wolfgirl. I laugh at the sheer absurdity at it all. It seems that my mind uses comedy as a sort of natural defense against the uncertainty and craziness of this whole situation. As I ponder the mind's natural defenses, I hear a door open. "Hello, Alex. Nice to see you awake."

"Dad?" I ask, my ears again pulling back against my head. I notice that my voice is higher, part of the female package. "Yes, it is me. I suppose I can't really call you Alex anymore, can I? Alexa would suit you better." he says, stroking his stubbly chin, with barely a hint of emotion in his eyes. "Where the hell am I?!" I say, my fury kicking in. My father, this scientist, this monster, walks up to my cage and nonchalantly unlocks the door. "Go on, explore your surroundings." I crawl out of the cage and stand up, and I'm about to pounce on this man who can barely be called my father, when he says, "Don't do anything stupid," and pulls out a taser. I back away slowly. "You're not my father, are you?" I say, with a snarl. I look around at the other cages. There's other people like me in there, from a raccoon to a white tiger. There's ten cages in total, four of them empty, including mine, so I assume that three others are already outside of this white, sterile kennel room. I open the exit slowly, as not to make it seem like I'm running for it, and take a step outside.

I'm greeted by a giant glass dome right above me, letting in lots of sunlight. There's some sort of astroturf beneath my paws, and there's hills and trees around me. This place seems to be about a mile-wide circle. I don't seem to be in any hurry, so I just walk around. After looking around for a bit, I spot someone in the distance, so I run towards them. They seem to be a gray hedgehog with green tips on its quills. As I approach, they look towards me, shut their book, and stand up to greet me. When we meet, I shake his paw apprehensively, and they say in a heavily Australian accent, but in a mostly American dialect, "Killer handshake there, mate. Name's Lyle. What's yours?" I stop, wondering whether to use a male or female name. "My name is Alexa," I say, smiling.
