Chapter 18! :D

Good evening everyfur! I am back from my little break yesterday with the next chapter of the main story on the page, A Silent Soul. Things heat up very quickly this chapter, and I finally introduce the first explicit scene of the story. I have a placeholder for now that represents where the explicit scene would go in the story. I will be writing the explicit scene sometime this week and I will be uploading it as a separate story for those of you who want to read it, because I know there are a few of you who might not want to spoil the innocence... who am I kidding we're furries we all want to see it! XD

But nonetheless it will be a separate thing up later this week so I'll let your guys' imaginations run wild until then. But for now, enjoy the chapter and I'll see you at the bottom of the page! :D

The husky sighed shakily turning to me, tears still threatening to flow over.

"Jasper I can't even being to express how happy and proud I am for you for making the team... but now that you're on the team that means not only do you have a ton of practices to go to but you'll also have to leave for all the away games as well. I know you're excited but this is something you still need to discuss with your parents, this isn't something you can just jump into." He reminded me quietly.

I let his words sink in for a couple minutes, thinking of all the new responsibilities I would have as a college kicker. No more relaxing time, no more junk food not to mention a new fitness schedule I'll have to abide to, and no more spending time with the one person who's been looking out for me this last week. I nodded in understanding knowing what I was in for.

"It really is such a great opportunity to even consider passing it up, but I guess I wasn't 100 percent honest with you about some things. Do you remember Amber, the fox from my life story last week?" I asked him hesitantly. He cocked his head slightly in confusion before nodding.

"I never said why she dumped me to begin with. In high school I was a real... jerk I guess. I made a lot of mistakes and I regretted most of them, but sports usually were the cause of them. Kicker for the football team, I was your average jock who attracted all the ladies. I had practice almost every day and by the time I was done with practice and homework I was too tired and I needed to sleep. In doing so I severely neglected Amber. She stayed loyal as long as she could until she just couldn't take it anymore. That's when she started going out with David. He came and told me later how sorry he was, but he also gave me some advice that I carry with me today. I made the mistake of letting football get in the way of my personal relationships, not only my relationship with Amber, but a lot of my family relationships suffered as well, especially with my mom. And I told myself that day that I would never let anything get in the way of that again, and I don't intent to break that seal now. I care too much to see you sit back here alone while I go off and play a game that won't make me nearly as happy as I feel when I'm with you." I finished, falling off into silence to let him process it. His shock at my decision was clearly plastered on his face before it was replaced by a look of worry and suppressed joy.

"I don't want you to give up this chance just for me Jasper, believe me I would be fine watching you go off and succeed. I would miss you terribly of course but I want to see you be happy." He exclaimed. I smiled softly and shook my head.

"That's the problem, I wouldn't be fine with it. And if you want to see me be happy then the only place you'll see me is right here with you cutie." I replied with a toothy grin. His doubt finally faded away to the joy he'd been subduing for the time. He wrapped his arms around me and I sighed contentedly at the soft fur of his arms.

"Thank you so much, it would have killed me to see you go out like that every week. I don't envy you though having to break the news to the coach." He reminded me. I groaned at the thought, knowing that would be a scary conversation. "I'll go with you for emotional support." He added with a giggle.

It only relieved me slightly as I thought back to the tryouts. My ears perked slightly with a sly grin as I remembered a certain promise someone made earlier.

"Say, if I remember right didn't you say something about a surprise for making that field goal?" I said quietly. I could feel him tense up as he drew back from the embrace, blush clearly evident on his white furred face.

"Heh, guess I did say that didn't I?" He said, scratching the back of his head sheepishly.

"We don't have to do anything if you don-"

"No! I mean uh, it's okay. I'm okay with it... what did you have in mind?" He whispered, tail slightly wagging behind him. I shrugged at him, trying to make the situation less awkward.

"I don't know, I was hoping you already knew what you were gonna do." I replied.

"Well, you could definitely use a shower..." He trailed off, smiling shyly.

"Let me ask once again; would you like to join me?" I asked him.

"I don't have a good reason not to." He replied with a sly grin before standing up from his sitting position on the bed. He slowly eased himself out of his shirt, making sure to stretch out his abdomen so I could get a clear view of his white furred stomach.

Turning around he unclasped the tail button on the back of his pants, followed by the front. A small whine escaped my throat as he slowly pulled the jeans down, only leaving him in his bright blue boxer briefs that clearly outlined his rump. He turned around and caught me staring, getting a laugh out of both of us. He grabbed his towel and shower gear, opening the door.

"Don't keep me waiting too long wuffie." He winked as the door closed behind him. I stared blankly at the door for a few moments, processing what had just happened. And if my dry mouth wasn't a clear indication of my mood, my tightened jeans were.

I jumped up from the bed and threw off my shirt, wincing slightly at the musky scent that filled the room. Pulling off my jeans I stared down at my tented boxers and sighed knowing I would have to wait before leaving to spare myself some embarrassment.

I picked my favorite turn-off to think of which helped immensely, allowing me to grab a towel and my shower caddy before walking out the door. I could feel my heart race pick up slightly as my imagination ran rampant of what was to come.

Pushing the door open I heard a shower already running, but I sighed slightly at the orange and black striped tiger tending to his fur at one of the mirrors. He turned to acknowledge my presence with a curt nod before going back to the mirror.

I set my stuff down in front of one of the other showers before walking out of the bathroom once again. I'd forgotten my brush but I silently prayed that the feline would be gone by the time I got back. I trotted back to my room tossing stuff around looking for my brush and I finally found it under a pile of dirty clothes at the foot of the joined beds.

I threw my door open once again stepping into the hallway, and my heart soared as I watched an orange tail disappear into one of the rooms. I raced back to the bathroom to find it empty, the occupied shower still running. I was almost positive it was Elijah, but I didn't want to take any chances.

"Elijah?" I whispered slightly poking my head through the first curtain. A furry white head poked out from the other side of the second curtain, water dripping from his fur.

"Did he leave?" He asked. I nodded my head.

"Get in here then, you're so slow!" He replied, grinning.

"One second, lemme do something first." I told him. I walked inside my own shower, turning the water on just to throw off anyone who saw two baskets yet only one shower running. I jumped out and walked back inside the first curtain of Elijah's stall. I dropped my boxers before stepping into the stall.

<insert that explicit scene guy right here> Sorry guys! x3 (If you are unable to access it it's because I marked it as explicit. Assuming you're browsing around on SF I would hope you're of somewhat appropriate age to be viewing this so if you want to read it make sure to go into your settings to the account tab and change your viewing options from clean to adult. Sorry for the inconvenience, now keep reading!)

I stayed under the shower head for a while longer while Elijah went to go make sure the coast was clear. Once given the word I turned the water off and stepped out into the dressing area with the husky. We both dried our fur the best we could before pulling our respective underwear on once again, making sure to turn the other shower off as well.

I was disappointed that we couldn't just walk back naked so I could get a few more peeks but I restrained myself for the time being. Towels hung around our necks we walked down the hall hand in hand still basking in the afterglow of the extremely pleasant shower. Upon reaching the room we finished making sure our fur was clean and brushed out.

Just as Elijah was about to climb under the covers we exchanged a glance before stripping down once again. I snuggled up behind him, chest firmly pressed against his back as the big spoon. We both had content smiles displayed across our muzzles as I inhaled a combination of mint and musk from the husky in front of me. Our shower activities left us drained of energy and so it wasn't long before sleep took us into its grasp.

P.O.V. Change: Elijah (in dream state)

Confusion washed over me as I awoke upon the starlit hill where Jasper and I had confessed to each other just a couple days before. Moving to a sitting position the wind picked up considerably, whipping through my fur and forcing me to shield my eyes.

It lasted for a few moments before yielding. I frowned slightly as I glanced behind around and behind me to observe my surroundings, but upon facing forward again my blood ran cold.

"Hello Elijah, it's good to see you again." A gentle feminine voice spoke. My voice caught in my throat upon hearing my mother's voice and seeing her again. The ghostly shimmer was slightly unnerving as I climbed shakily to my feet.

The warm smile rested on her face perfectly as I slowly approached her, not wanting to believe it was real. I felt for her face, gasping slightly as my hand passed through her muzzle. Her warm smile never faded, only growing more loving at the gesture.

"M-mom... what...?" I whispered confusedly, ears pinned flatly to my head.

"I was given the opportunity to come visit, I figured this would be a nice location considering the big event that happened here." She teased. Her voice had the faintest of echoes to it, adding to the ghostly effect. I didn't fully register what she'd said until she added a wink at the end.

"Wait, how do you-"

"I said I would be watching you didn't I?" She laughed lightly.

"Yeah I guess... so does that mean you know about...?" I trailed off. Her light laughed continued for a few more moments.

"Elijah dear, I've known about you since you started high school." She told me. I was shocked at her statement. I was positive that I'd done a good enough job hiding my huge secret from her.

"How did you find out?" I asked her curiously.

"It's a mom thing, I just knew. Not to mention you did a poor job of hiding those magazines dear." She added with a stern smile. A blush erupted across my face at that.

"So does that mean you're okay with it?" I asked her hesitantly.

"I would still love you even if you told me you hated me Elijah, I would never reject you for anything." She answered honestly. Relief washed over me at her statement before another thought popped into my mind.

"And Jasper...?" I said quietly, more nervous than anything. The warm smile split my mother's beautiful face.

"He's a very nice boy, I hate that I won't have the chance to meet him. But if approval is what you're asking for... the answer is yes." She replied. The weight that was resting on my shoulders evaporated at her answer.

"Thanks mom." I whispered. She nodded before her light blue gaze shifted downwards to my neck.

"Somebody went plundering it would seem." She accused, but her smile assured me it was with good intentions.

"Yeah..." I said scratching the back of my head sheepishly.

"I'm glad you found the letter, I was afraid you would forget." She exclaimed.

"Nope, I remembered. And I found the locket as well." I replied, pulling it out of my pocket. She smiled gently at the small silver heart.

"I'm so proud of you, I wish I could be there to see you through your classes." She said wistfully.

"I've got a lot of friends behind me holding me up. Rachel and Sebastian, Dan and Zan, Vinesah and Kylee and Trevor... and Jasper of course. I couldn't ask for a better group of people." I responded.

"It makes me happy to know you're doing well on your own... I worried for you the night I passed. But I felt like I should let you know that Jasper was looking out for you before you even met him." She told me. I cocked my head confusedly.

"What do you mean?" I asked her.

"The night after the accident, he saw what happened on the news. He sent a prayer for you which I delivered for him, so technically I knew him before you did!" She exclaimed triumphantly. I grinned at her statement, it must have just been meant to me for him and I to meet.

"He's been so great to me mom, I wish you could meet him." I said quietly.

"Well you can tell him I said hello for me then." She replied.

"I will, don't worry." I responded. We simply gazed at each other for a few minutes before I spoke.

"So the night of the accident... did it hurt?" I asked her hesitantly. She was silent for a moment, pain flashing briefly across her vision.

"I knew I was going to die, I was losing too much blood too fast for them to do anything. Don't be mad at the doctors, they did everything they could. I could tell it nearly broke that poor doctor when he had to break the news to you and your grandmother." She explained. I nodded at her answer. The entire time we talked I refused to let my gaze move from her, afraid that she would disappear if I did.

"You look more beautiful than ever mom, I miss you so much..." I trailed off.

"I know dear, I heard your crying every night. It hurt me more than you could imagine to see you like that knowing there was nothing I could do to help you." She replied.

"Why couldn't you come do this the night when it happened?" I asked her curiously.

"It was a very tough decision for me, believe me when I say it." She paused for a moment before continuing.

"This is the only visit I get. I was afraid you would be too emotional that night for me to be able to speak with you properly without risk of danger." She explained.

"Danger?" I asked nervously.

"Nightmares can affect your dreamscape, it's because you're at peace that I chose tonight to do it." She replied. I nodded at her explanation. I became aware of the breeze picking up slightly once again, rustling my fur.

"That's my signal to start wrapping things up. I only have a few more things to say to you Elijah. Don't worry about me too much, just know that I'm doing well up here and I'm almost always keeping an eye on you. Keep your friends close to you Elijah, they'll protect you and pick you up when you need them most so don't be afraid to lean on them. And more than anything, please keep yourself safe. I don't want to see you up here with me any time soon." She finished. I nodded at each one of her statements, taking them to heart.

"I promise I'll be safe mom." I told her. She smiled at my answer.

"Goodbye dear, I love you." She said as the wind began picking up once again.

"Love you too mom." I replied as tears flooded my eyes. I watched as long as I could before the howling windstorm forced me to shield my eyes. Closing them tightly I awoke back into the loving embrace of the gray furred wolf behind me, a feeling of peace flooding my senses. Smiling happily, I closed my eyes and shuffled backwards into the wolf, letting a peaceful sleep come over me.

So I'll admit, I cried while writing the last part, I'm such a softie. But yes that it all from me tonight, I hope you all enjoyed the chapter and make sure to keep an eye out for that shower scene if you're interested as I have no timetable on it yet. So if you aren't watching me make sure you do that so you can read it as soon as it's up! x3 Have a good night! ;D
