================================================================

The noon sun shown down upon the land with glory and hope, a trail of dust drifted up along a empty costal road heading for town.

Max was pushing the car to 220mph on the straight paths and slowing down only around the corners, soon hitting asphalt and flooring it down the service road aiming for the docks that no one used anymore besides one group that people didn't know about.

He slowed down as he came upon the docks and rolled the car up to one of the larger warehouses before shutting off the car and getting out, strapping the magnums behind him and slipping the Sako TG42 rifle on his shoulder using the strap, he walked up to the building and through the side door. He moved slowly down the flight of stairs till he was stopped by one of the bouncers...a large Doberman with a body that could intimidate nearly anyone.

"What's the password?"

"I don't need any password for you. I'm here to speak with the boss."

The Doberman smirked and crossed his arms with a grin "Then you're not getting past me."

"That's what you think...you lackey."

"Why You son of a..." the guard growled before stopping when he saw the pendant that was on the young wolfs necklace. A platinum pendant of a howling wolf under a flying bat. "I'm sorry sir...my apologies." he whimpered stepping to the side and bowing slightly.

Max walked up to him slowly and smiled. "You are new here aren't you?"

The Doberman gave a swift nod and kept his head bowed and his ears pined back. "Yes...I just started last week, I do take pride in my job..."

"Good...I like a man who takes pride in there work...as for how you acted...I will not tell the boss about it...you are new, but I will give you a tip. Look for the necklace first before you do it again. At lest until you know of all who have them." he spoke softly and placed a paw upon the young Dobermans shoulder. "You keep up the good work kid." he smiled.

"Thank you Sir."

Max gave a soft nod and walked on inside the building and right into a large club. Strobe lights flashed all around him with the heavy bass of music playing while a large gathering of humans, and other beasts had the time of their lives. The scent of fine wine and other drinks flooded the air along with a scent he knew and caused him to grin slightly as he walked to a large blood red door at the other side of the room, slowly he placed his paw upon the handle and stood there for a slight second, feeling his pulse quicken.

He then pushed the door open and stepped into a dark room with the only form of light was from the blood red lights, the sound of the club was shut out when he closed the door and adjusted the strap on his shoulder.

"It's been a long time Son of Light."

Max looked to where the voice came from and smiled slightly. "I thought Alzheimer's didn't happen with your kind Lady Shela... have you forgotten my name already?" he crossed his arms.

"I remember your name...its just a word that is sweet to say...and its also fun to see that look you get on your face every time I say it..." a Silver Gray she-wolf sat in a large leather chair, the blood red lights in the room giving her a eerie glow as her fur seamed to be coated with blood itself. Her sea green eyes watching his every move as she smiled, her elongated canine fangs showing. "Come...sit. Surely you are tired after all your work."

Max sat down after putting the rifle up against the wall and looking at her carefully. His eyes looking her over slowly.

"Always well Informed I see. You ain't changed one bit Lady Shela. How are the kids? Last I heard one of them was having a bit of trouble with a Judge from the heavens."

"Yes, he was...but its been taken care of." she replied while standing up slowly and moving to a small table in the corner, her outfit was something that made Max smile.

Knee high leather high-heel boots, short black leather mini-skirt and a tight black tank top that accented her cleavage.

"Got tired of all the dresses and suits?" he asked.

"Yes...times change and we must change with them or perish. You know how it is Max." she looked back at him while holding up a small glass before setting it down when Max shook his head. Slowly she moved back over to the desk and sat down on the corner watching him carefully "So what brings you back to this "old" she-wolf young one.?"

Max smiled softly and tilted his head some as his tail twitched slightly in playful annoyance. "What...I can't come and see my favorite woman in my whole life? Besides...I know you missed me." he snickered while leaning back in his chair.

Shela gave a soft nod before she leaned down and placed a single claw under his muzzle, lifting his head slightly just before she gave him a soft kiss with lips that were soft a silk and tasted like a fine wine. The scent of her fur coated heavy with her natural musk along with the scents of roses.

"I will not deny that Max...it's a trait that your mother put inside you...her kindness." she gave a soft sigh while stroking along the edge of his ear. "It's such a shame she had to die at the hands of that bastard of a demon."

Max shrugged slightly while giving a nod before his ears flicked to the sound of her soft cooing voice.

"How would you like to take a break from your family fights and make some money and help me out, hm?"

"What kind of work?"

Shela stood up slowly and walked over to a large set of filing cabinets, opening one and digging through the files and papers before coming back with a large red file.

"You see...this has been going on for a few years undercover and we are losing more and more every day. There is a Machine King as we call him...he has a hate for all Vampires and super-naturals, and to fuel his war against us he has made his own cyber army and sent them out against us. He must be stopped, and if you will do this for us...I'll make you wealthy young one."

"How wealthy?"

"Say...Twenty million?"

Max gave a nod. How could he pass up such a large sum of money just for shutting down a machine shop and a few low class cyber units. It was going to be a cake walk for him or so he thought. "Okay...you got yourself a deal. Where is it at?"

Shela smiled. "That's my boy...always eager to please in more ways than one." she giggled before walking back around the desk, sitting down slowly in her chair.

"The Machine King has a transporter located on his island and one located in the down town subway line that has been unused since the early fifties. Clearly you should know of the one, am I right?"

"Yeah I know the place. When it was decommissioned back in 1951 it was overran with chop shop thugs...mostly Lycans and Mutations, that was before they were ran out by the super-natural task force that was intergraded into the local Police Department two years ago."

"My my...you are a smart ol' pup." Shela quipped

"Well compared to you "Miss. I'm Over Three Thousand Years Old"...I'm still just a pup." Max retorted quickly before he smirked. "Okay...well I can use that transporter to jump to his base and flatten the hell out of it and be back before dinner and we can have a little time to our selves."

"Don't make promises you can't keep Mr. Charger."

"Hey, how was I supposed to know that the south tram in Liberty were going to go kaput?!" he snorted.

Shela shook her head slowly and stood up, walking over to a book shelf and removed a large red book before tapping on a key pad. Soon the shelves slid to the side, allowing them into a large room, loaded with high grade weapons and explosives. "I know how much you like a little bit of boom with your fun time Max...so take what you need."

Nodding slowly, Max started stuffing packs of C7 plastic explosives and remote and timed detonators into a black duffel bag, while picking up some home made, custom pipe bombs.

"Well I'll tell you this Shela...I'll give you one hell of a fireworks display."

"I look to it. Also two of my hand picked guards will follow you to the transporter and wait for your return. Max..." she then stepped up to the young wolf and placed her paw softly upon his cheek. "Please...come back safe...I love you."

Slowly Max gave a nod before walking out of the office slowly and back up to the docks, where he was met by two large tigers dressed in black suits. Getting into the waiting black sedan he was taken to the transporter that waited down inside the subway line.

Getting into the area was easy, figuring that no one ever did come down into the abandoned areas there was no reason for guards.

Max smiled slightly while he stood in front of a large floating circle of blue fluid.

"So this is it huh...well here goes nothing." he sighed slightly as he stepped toward the transporter and was soon pulled inside, the spinning waves of blue and white was more than enough to disorientate any normal person but this was negated by the facts of half breeds and machines.

He then stepped from the rippling mass only to be standing in the middle of a large assembly line of Cyber Tech machines and other weapons of heartless destruction.

He looked around slightly and pulled a pack of C7 from the bag and fitted on the detonators, slipping the large block of plastic under a set of pipes before he moved on down the line, setting bombs in key spots as he went before the alarms suddenly went off causing him to freeze in mid step.

"Uh oh."

Soon, all around him the machines started to power up, unhooking from the refueling platforms and repair stations they started there advance on the intruder.

Max pulled his magnums from behind him and fired off a round at the closest cyber tech, the high caliber round reflecting off the metal as if it was nothing more than a dried up spitball.

"Great...Triple plated armor. This money better be worth it!"

He then unloaded both magnums into the advancing line, getting a critical hit on a few, dropping them like the tons of metal they were before he reloaded and slipped the handguns behind him, then pulling the Sako TG42 from behind him and sited in the next ones head before pulling the trigger watching as its cyber-cased brain was ripped from its metal shell. Once more unloading a full clip into the advancing lines he was left with only a hand full of the machines where he did away with them with point blank shots with the magnums.

Soon something felt off, the waves stopped and everything was silent besides the sounds of a few sparks flying. Then a loud crash caused Max to spin around only to come face first with a large metal fist that struck him like a speeding train, sending him flying clear across the bay and into the wall with such force it caused a spider web of cracks to jet out from the point of impact.

Groggily Max shook his head as he got up, watching a towering behemoth of Metal and Flesh patch work on two large metal legs, both arms and nearly all the rest of its body.

"So you must be the Machine King eh? Go figure...only a machine could be considered a king in this kind of place. Oh well...its time to be shut down bud." he growled while charging the King, his sword forming in his paw while he lunged into the air bringing the diamond blade down upon the shoulder of the machine only to bounce off like he hit a rubber wall. He then went to strike again, this time sinking the blade into a open area of flesh but was soon sent flying to the floor below with a heavy thud.

The Machine King then grabbed hold of one of Max's arms, squeezing tightly...so tight that all the bones and tendons inside just burst like someone over inflated a balloon, causing the young wolf to howl out in pure pain before he was slammed back first into the wall countless times with a bone crushing impact which was accented by the sounds of bones breaking.

With what little strength he had left inside his body, Max pulled the last bit of C7 from his bag before the strap ripped and sent the rest of what he had left to the floor. He then looked into the eyes of the large machine before he took one slash with his claws, ripping a gaping gash in the unprotected throat, then stuffing the C7 into the wound. This caused the King to drop its target, causing the injured wolf to hit the floor once more, along with the feeling of pure pain. He pressed a button on the multi-link detonator before he crawled his way to the portal. His sword returning to him in a flash of white light just before his body was pulled into the portal while the bombs he planted went off all at once.

Soon his nearly lifeless body was tossed out of the portal as it closed, his body a mangled mess as the two guards picked him up and took him back to the docks where they called in one of the cyber tech workers. The one they called for walked into the room, he was a young wolf with two tone white and blue fur...his ice blue eyes shining softly as he set to work with what he had...replacing both of Max's arms, legs, half his chest and the whole left side of his face from a overly damaged and fractured skull, right down to replacing his left eye.

It was two months after it all happened when he finally woke up. The room was white, slowly he sat up and looked around as he noticed that in the left side of his vision he could see words and other cybernetic text scroll down before he looked at his reflection in the one way mirror, seeing the new parts that were placed upon him, his fur and flesh yet to be replaced.

"God...what....What happened to me?"

It was then Shela walked into the room.

"I'm glad you're awake...though I was wishing it would have been when I was here to be what you saw first...but..." she sighed softly "I'm sorry Max...please...forgive me...I didn't want to lose you." she spoke while choking back whimpering sobs. Soon she broke down into tears when she was taken into his arms. "I'm so sorry." she whined between sobs.

"Shhh...its okay...I'm glad someone at least cares enough for me to play god and bring me back...Thank you Shela." he spoke softly while stroking along her back trying to comfort her the best he could as he let her cry herself out on his cold, metal shoulder.

Slowly the doors opened once more and entered the two tone wolf dressed in brown kaki pants and a red t-shirt.

"This...is the young pup who designed the parts that you have now..." Shela croaked out softly as she tried to regain her composure.

"My names Tempest...I used to be a mechanic for the Wounded vets and Cops that opted for state of the art Cybernetic body parts...I can go as detailed as right down to your privates to your heart and brain. I am at your service Mr. Charger."

Max gave a soft nod. "Thanks...I'll like to speak with you later on some time about a few personal matters...till then...I just want to rest and...maybe get something to eat, I'm starving."

Shela giggled softly before kissing him on the cheek while taking his paw slowly. "Sure thing pup... I know this great place downtown who have killer steaks." she spoke while leading him out of the room and down the halls.

Tempest watched them leave before he looked to the side slightly. "Charger... Charger...hmmm...I like that name...clearly better than Balkuer...Wonder if he will let me take on his last name?" he shrugged and walked out of the room a little while later.

Standing silently upon the roof of the tallest building as the moons light shone down upon the city, Marlous watched before he snickered. "I'll be nice my son...but just this once I will. You shall rest up and gain your strength...because I want to see if you are worth it all for me to unleash my trump card. We shall see.."

He then disappeared into a flash of flames with a soft yet evil laugh.
