#4 of The Hitchhiker pt 1

Toby starts up his yard work business, and hires Craig to help him. They begin to plan for the future. Some good news comes from the Iron County Sheriff, and they enjoy the preparations to go take care of some business in Cedar City with a quickie.

Craig was laid up for a week of no activity after his surgery, while I got busy restarting my summer yard work business. Teagan had gifted me with his black book of clients when he moved away at the end of last summer, doubling my potential client load. I had already scheduled several clients using email from school, in order to hit the ground running. This meant I was leaving about the same time as my folks in the morning, and coming home around dark, so I never got any real private time with him, in which to explore our new-found attraction.

This was for the best, as it meant that the doctor declared him fit for light duty work after his one-week follow-up appointment. Rather than send him to the classifieds, I asked him to sign on as an employee. The doctor still said he was on light duty, but agreed that he could steer the riding mower and do basic things that did not involve too much torso twisting, while his ribs knit. I still had to do most of the work, but it cut my time down a significant amount if I didn't have to do the whole yard, and it meant we could get in a lot more clients, many of whom were clamoring to have Teagan and Toby's Yard Service back again this year. Not only did it lighten the load, and enabled us to spend time together. I usually packed a lunch and ate in the shade of a client's tree. If the clients weren't home while I was working, which was often enough, and if the tree was in a somewhat private back yard, this meant that we could share some kisses and light play while we ate.

It also gave us time to talk about a lot of things, most especially, the future, and the fact that we wanted to share ours, together.

One particularly hot day found us camped under a particularly comfortable willow which had been planted beside a fish pond. We had finished the mowing, and were ready to start the clean-up work after lunch. We had been eating in comfortable silence, with Craig leaning back in my lap while I finished my cookies.

"So explain to me," Craig spoke up, "how exactly a guy with what is clearly a successful yard service business, that could easily translate into a successful landscaping company in a decent-sized town, ends up a thousand miles away, getting an engineering degree instead of doing business management, locally, and keeping the business going?"

I absorbed the question, then laughed. "And what were you going to Chicago for?"

"Because I didn't have my own business to fall back on, and I had to get away from my ultra-conservative background to really explore myself."

"Right."

"But you could easily live here and still be who you want to be..."

"Nah, not really. This town may look big, but seriously, everyone knows me. I'm either 'Teagan's little brother' because he was the star quarterback, or 'Nurse Harper's cute step-son', or 'Councilman Kat's youngest', or some other horrid apparition thereof. And don't forget all the people who remember Teresa. She volunteered for everything, so even the town homeless population remembers us from soup lines and service fundraisers."

"Councilman Kat?" Craig looked up at me curiously.

"Yeah, my dad was on the city council for two terms. I was just a little kid, then. They liked him so much that he was elected president during his second term. But he had promised Mom that he would only serve for two terms, so he stepped down after that. Besides, Mom's death hit him really hard, a few months before the next election cycle."

"Wow."

"Yeah. I think, without her, he really lost the steam he needed to keep going. And he couldn't bring himself to break his promise, even though she was gone."

"Right." There was a bit of an awkward pause. Then he restored the subject to school. "So you went to Lincoln to get away, then. But that still doesn't explain why not an business degree."

"I knew that once I got away," I smiled, "I was going to want to stay away. It's like birds. The little ones, not Avian people. Once momma pushes them from the nest and they grow up, they go make their own nest. They've gotten too big, and no one wants to live on regurgitated food from their mother forever."

"Ulgh, when you put it that way, I wouldn't want to stay, either" Craig said, laughing.

"Exactly," I agreed. "So I went to school to learn something that would mean I could go anywhere, and not be tied down, here. I can run the yard business long enough to get me set up, and then I can go. It's the same thing Teagan did, really. Even if he did get a business degree, and has plans to get his MBA in a couple years."

"Gotcha." Craig sat up and looked at me more directly. "Well, what about this coming year?"

"What about it?"

"You're going back, right?"

"Of course."

"And what about me? I can't stay with your folks forever."

His question hit me like a ton of bricks. Dad and Harper had offered to let Craig stay on with us, since he was helping me with the business. They had proposed an agreement where part of what I paid him - and I was making good money, so I paid him well - went to rent, to cover the expenses of having another person in the house: food, electricity, water, and so on. But with the end of the summer, he would need a more solid lead, and somewhere to go, because they planned to enjoy their empty nest. That idea made me laugh as I thought about it, in context of our conversation.

"What's so funny?" he asked.

My brain kicked into overdrive, and I came up with an idea, instead of giving him a direct answer. "Why don't you come to Lincoln with me?"

"What, and go to school?"

"No," I started. "But I've been planning to get an apartment this year. I didn't even sign up for a dorm room. I'll go a week earlier than usual and find a place to stay. There's lots of furnished apartments around the school, and they usually open up the week before. They aren't the best places in town, but college students don't need a lot. I was going to look for a single, but if you come then you can be my roommate."

"And we'd still only need one bedroom," Toby grinned lecherously at me.

"Good point!" I laughed, kissing him. We were interrupted by the chime on my phone. "Argh!" Lunch break was over. Time to finish the yard, so we could get to our next client on time.

I helped Craig up, and assigned him to drive the tractor back to the trailer, and to sweep the grass trimmings from the edger on the walkways. When that was done, he could weed the raised flowerbed while I raked and cleaned up the rest of the edgings. We were done in about an hour and in the truck to the next place.

"Are you really serious about me coming with you to Lincoln," he asked, once we hit the road.

"I don't see why not," I replied. "I want you to be in my life, Craig."

"Won't your parents wonder about that?"

"Nah. We'll tell them the truth: you want to re-try your plans for Chicago, to get well away from Cedar and start a new life. But coming with me to Lincoln is a little easier and safer than going all the way to the big city, just yet."

"The big question is, what about Cedar?"

"What about it?"

"Well, I'm still going to have to take The Dogs to trial."

"Right, but if you're in Lincoln the rest of the time, they aren't going to be able to come after you, are they? You'll be safer there than here."

Craig thought about this. "Hmm. Good point."

"And you can always come back for the trial, too. By plane, or car."

"I've never bothered getting a license," he said. "That's part of why I was aiming for Chicago. They've got the El."

"Well, then I'm also going to have to teach you how to drive," I grinned. We can do it like sports. You sit in my lap, and I'll 'feel' you through the actions." It was my turn to leer at him. We both laughed, after that.

* * *

The following week, Lieutenant Matchcomb called down from Cedar City with news. One of The Dogs, a member who was not actually a great Dane, had confessed what they had done, and led them to their leader. This had brought the whole gang of them in, and they needed Craig to go up for the identification on Thursday. Justice could be very efficient in small towns like ours. I volunteered to drive him, since we only had two clients, with big yards, to reschedule, and besides, I really didn't want to do their yards alone. Toby agreed, and I made the arrangements with the clients immediately.

On the day of, instead of a lunch break, we hurried home to shower. I had to close out the paperwork for our morning clients, so Craig hit the shower first. These were repeat clients and the tasks had been simple, so the paperwork only took me a couple minutes. As I filed them away and sealed the closing bills, I heard Craig just turning on the water, when I got an idea. Teagan's bedroom was on the first floor by the living room, so he had a small bathroom and shower that he only had to share with visitors. I found a fake knife I had used for a costume a few years back, and crept downstairs in time to hear the shower curtain pulled open, then closed. Yes!

Even better, he had left the door a tiny bit ajar. Purrfect.

I crept to the door and peeked in. He was indeed in the shower. I slipped through the door, careful not to make a sound. Craig had begun to hum to himself in the water, and I could hear him splashing about. Raising the costume knife high, I ripped the curtain back with my other paw and did my best Psycho impression, making stabbing motions with the plastic blade. "Reek, reek, reek, reek!"

Craig leaped back against the back wall of the shower with a startled bark. Then he saw it was me, and grabbed his chest in the classic fake heart attack of the startled. "Damnit, Toby!"

I laughed.

"Oh, you think that was funny?" He tugged the shower head from its holder and proceeded to spray it at me. "This is what you get, you rummy tiger!"

I fell back with an "Awk!" Dropping the knife to cover my face, I continued laughing. "You're getting the bathroom all wet!"

"Oh, well then, come here!" He pulled me in to the shower. Seeing that I had lost, which is exactly what I wanted, I stripped off my now soggy clothes, closed the curtain, and wrapped him in a hug."

Having settled down from the startle, he looked at me from under the replaced nozzle. "So, what inspired you to stop my heart, this afternoon, you vicious cat?"

I grinned. "The fact that this is the first time you and I have been alone in the house since you came."

"Haven't cum once, actually, since arriving. I was holding back to offer it to you, but that's never happened."

I laughed again. "Oh, really? Well, see, we really must change that." I bumped my nose into his chest. "But first, you still stink like a sweaty yard worker."

"Well, I had just gotten in! And besides, you aren't so sweet smelling yourself, just now," he rebutted, grabbing the fur soap. In pretty short order, we were both lathered up, and our sheathes were swollen and heavy. I was the first to initiate any action, taking the shower head back down, I proceeded to hose his chest and groin off, then passed him the shower head as I got down on my knees. He offered no objection as I pressed my paw on his flesh, easily massaging his shaft out with a few deft strokes. In another moment, the tip was at the back of my throat and I was slurping pre and cascading water from it like a starving child. Craig began to moan, using the nozzle to rinse my back as he rubbed my ears with his other paw. It didn't take long before his moans were rising in pitch, and he began to shove his hips against my muzzle. A few thrusts more, and my mouth was filling with his hot, sticky seed as Craig barked and howled as only foxes can. He must not have been kidding about not having relieved himself since he arrived. His load was heavy in my mouth as I stood up and offered him a sticky kiss.

He slid his tongue over my lips and savored the taste of himself, but only for a moment. He hung the shower head back in its clip, and turned around, paws on the wall, leaning forward to present himself to me. I was already fully erect and didn't hesitate. I pushed a little lather onto my shaft for lube, and pressed against his hole. I, too, did not take long, and after a few thrusts was roaring my climax to the otherwise empty house. Satisfied that I had finished, I pulled out and watched my cum leak from his stretched tailhole, before grabbing the shower nozzle and washing his backside again. I used one paw to keep him in place until I was done, and took a soapy finger and made sure that he was clean inside, too. This elicited several more moans that I found quite satisfying.

He turned around and kissed me again, then looked down at my now drooping shaft. "Hmm. That's dirty, again. He got some more soap, and proceeded to rub it on to my flesh, which made me shiver with pleasure. He rinsed it once, then decided I wasn't clean enough, so he soaped me up again, and washed thoroughly enough that he actually managed to bring me to a second climax.

I leaned against the back of the shower and released a long, low growl as the seed slathered his paw. "That's a new sound from you," he grinned, then kissed me once more. He washed his paws and rinsed my groin, then knelt down and sniffed. "Oh, yes. You smell clean, now." Making sure I was thoroughly rinsed off, then running the water over himself once more, he turned it off and we both stepped out. This bathroom was too small for a fur dryer booth, so we had to use the hand-held version. It took a little longer, but that helped dry off all of the water we had gotten everywhere. As a finishing touch, I scooped up the towel on the floor and wrapped my wet clothes in it, then took it upstairs to put in my hamper. Craig followed me, batting at my tail and naked butt.

"Now that I've got you all hyped up," I said, "I should remind you that we need to get moving, to get to Cedar on time."

"That's all right, I'll just tell Matchcomb it's your fault we're late," he grinned.

"Oh, yes?" I demanded. "'I'm sorry, Inspector Matchcomb. I couldn't be on time, because I had to present my ass to Toby'? That'll go over well."

"All right, all right. I can take a hint," he pouted.

"Now go get dressed, you silly fox," I said, and kissed him once more, before swatting his butt and sending him out the door. "We have about five minutes left, and that's if I speed."
